Episode #37 – “Sinners & Redeemers” Records About Saturday Night & Sunday Morning
In this episode, I spin a stack of 78 RPM and 45 RPM records that tell the story of Saturday night temptation and Sunday morning redemption. From fragile shellac discs of the 1920s and ’30s to mid-century jukebox singles, these records capture the push and pull between honky-tonk rebellion and gospel salvation — sometimes from the very same artists.
If you love vintage vinyl, American roots music, pre-war blues, gospel quartets, early country records, and the cultural story behind recorded sound, this one’s for you.Sit back and enjoy a good old fashioned episode featuring a variety of down home 78 rpm records. Blues, jazz, early country, honky tonk, Hawaiian steel guitar and even some ranchera accordion playing. A little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy the wide variety of music featured in the show. Crack a cold one and enjoy this episode of the Old Dingy Jukebox- Down Home 78 RPM Records “Greenback Dollars, Malicious Bed Bugs and Waltzes With Sin.”
