[00:00:00] Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of Wonder Boldly. Thank you so much for listening. My name is Christine Santos, and I left my corporate job of 30 years and started my own business, which is a podcast. Production business. So if you are looking for somebody to take care of your podcast, you can reach out to me.

My email is hello at Christine B as in boy santos.com. That's hello@christinebsantos.com. Or you can DM me on Instagram at Christine B. Santos. So I'm gonna get right into the episode today, and I'm using this. As an example for you, this episode is about the bare minimum You need to start a podcast. So if you've been thinking about starting a podcast, this [00:01:00] is the episode for you.

So this episode, I'm going to cover what you need for an audio only. Podcast One Buzz Sprout. That is called a host. So buzz sprout.com, go there, sign up. They're super easy to follow. It's super user friendly. You need a host and they are the one to choose for an audio. Only podcast you can record right on your phone, which I am doing at this moment.

You'll also need cover art. So that thing, when you go and look up podcasts, like think about Mel Robbins, you see her cover art? I think it's white and yellow and maybe her face. So what do you want to represent Your podcast? So you will need that. You can go into a tool called Canva. They have templates in there for podcast cover art use, that you can use your own photographs, you can use [00:02:00] stock images, whatever appeals to you for your podcast.

Next, you'll need a description. This is a short paragraph to tell people what they can expect when they listen to your podcast. So you'll need to write this out and have this ready to identify your podcast when you're setting up Buzz Sprout. So write out your description, make sure it has SEO keywords.

So if you're in the health and wellness space, you're gonna want to use those keywords that are important for you. Maybe you are helping women with balancing their hormones. You're gonna wanna say that in the description. The next thing you need is a trailer. So what is that? It's just, think of a, a movie trailer, like you're watching TV and there's a commercial for a movie coming up.

That's it. So it can be audio only. Again, this episode is about an audio only podcast, so a [00:03:00] trailer you can record right on your phone like I'm doing right now for this episode. And you want it to be really concise. You don't wanna lose people's attention. So it's going to be what the podcast is about, who should listen to it, what they will get from listening to it, and then when they can expect to hear it.

Meaning is it coming out weekly? Is it coming out monthly? And when you decide that, decide. That you are going to make a commitment to this and not miss it, and you're going to be consistent. So if you know realistically you can't get it done every week, then have your episodes every other week, you can always increase.

Okay? So those are the only things you need to start a podcast, an audio only podcast, and you can do that within. Two weeks and start your podcast and get it out into the world. [00:04:00] Now you might be saying, why would I do a podcast? Why do people have podcasts? People have podcasts as networking tools, ways to sell their offers, ways.

To gain that know, like, and trust and authority when somebody is listening to your voice on a regular basis and you are providing value to them, that means so much. We, we undervalue, I think, reciprocity. So you're putting this information out into the world because you have this knowledge. People need to hear it and they really appreciate that, and they come back and they listen.

Every week, every other week, every month to hear what you have to say. It's so powerful. Additionally, and I say this all the time, for me, the best thing about having a podcast is. Using it as a networking tool. What do I mean by that? [00:05:00] Maybe I meet somebody at a conference or in a mastermind and I really want to help them grow their business.

I'm like, Hey, I have a podcast. Would you like to come on my podcast? Because my podcast is not only about. Telling you how you can have your own podcast, but it's also about promoting women owned small businesses, and it is a great icebreaker. Also when you're out networking, Hey, you know, I know it can be like a little awkward.

You're in a group and you don't really know anybody and you can be like, Hey, I have a podcast. This is what it's about. If anyone's interested in coming on and being a guest, or if you would like to. Sponsor the podcast. I'm happy to talk about that with you. Maybe you can come up with an agreement where they sponsor a few episodes and you are promoting their business.

It's [00:06:00] just such a powerful tool that I think if you don't currently have a podcast, once you do, it's gonna blow your mind on the doors that it opens for you. Okay, so I'm gonna sum this up. This is a podcast episode on how to start an audio only podcast in the bare minimum that you need. You need a host.

I say use Buzz Sprout. You need your phone. Use the voice memo app on your phone, any recording app on your phone. You need Canva, so you can create your cover art. You need to write out a description, which you will put into Buzzsprout, and you need a trailer. That's the bare minimum and you can get a podcast out into the world.

Let me highlight just a couple of things that aren't included in that list [00:07:00] and the reason why. So you might be saying to yourself, you didn't mention the music. I purposely didn't mention music, because once you introduce music, you are going to have to introduce and learn how to edit. Your podcast. Okay, so you'll notice in that list I didn't talk about any editing, so you can record a podcast and put it up in the world without editing it.

Once you introduce music, you are going to need a tool for that. Okay? The other thing that I didn't mention is creating a general intro and outro. Again, if you create an intro and outro, you'll need to. Have an editing tool and learn how to edit. So the value of the intro and outro is so powerful, like, don't get me wrong, but having that and then putting that on every episode is really [00:08:00] a time saver.

But instead, when you hit record on your phone, on your app, you can just say the intro and the outro at the end. So you don't need to introduce editing. Of course, if you want to have music and you want to create a general intro and outro that you put on every episode, I can happily teach you how to edit what tools I use.

I teach people all the time how to edit the pod, their podcasts. People think it's so technical, it really isn't. You can definitely do it. I'm not gonna spend time here on that, but if that's something you want, reach out to me and I'm happy to set something up with you and I can teach you how to edit your podcast.

Okay, I'm gonna leave it at that for now. Again, my name is Christine Santos. You can find me on Instagram at Christine B. [00:09:00] Santos. If you wanna find out about my podcast production services, reach out to me. I'm happy to help you if you have. Any questions about this episode, reach out to me. I'm always on Instagram.

I'm also on LinkedIn. You can find me there as Christine Santos. I really appreciate dms because I don't keep up with my email if you must know the truth. So that's it for this episode.
