Darcie:

Hey there. Welcome to the Business of Ergonomics podcast. Today in the show, we're talking about how One Healthcare Pro used ergonomics to create a new income stream without even quitting her job. Let's dive into this right now. Welcome to the Business of Ergonomics podcast. I'm your host, Darcy Jeremy. I'm a board certified professional agonist with over 15 years of experience delivering ergonomics programs to employers of all different types. In this podcast, I share what other healthcare professionals are already doing and being with ergonomics assessments. And how to land those clients that you dream of. Without further ado, let's jump into this episode right now. She was working full time in a hospital setting, juggling patients paperwork and exhaustion, and still found a way to build a side and come doing office ergonomics assessments. How? Let's talk about the real story, the real results and how it might just work for you too. Hey there. Welcome back to the Business of Ergonomics podcast, where we turn expertise into opportunity and show you how to become the go-to ergonomic consultant in your city. I'm your host, Darcy Jeremy, certified professional organist, homeschooling mom and enthusiastic coffee drinker. And today's episode is about. What's possible when you take your healthcare background and layer on just a bit of ergonomic strategy? It's a story of how one healthcare pro, let's call her, Jess, used her existing skills and my ergonomic blueprint course to start a new income stream without quitting our job, moving cities, or even going back to school to get another degree. Spoiler alert, she didn't need to buy expensive equipment either. She didn't need to open an office. She didn't wait for the perfect time. She just started. Now, Jess is a bit of a composite character. She's an OT slash kin slash RN slash pt, depending on who's listening. But her story is rooted in real people who's gone through the ergonomic blueprint and have emailed me things like, I never thought I could charge this much for an office ergonomics assessment. I've never booked three assessments in that building. I always drove by before. Never even thought about it. Two, I finally feel confident explaining what I do and getting paid for it. Does this sound familiar to you? Because here's the thing, if you've ever said, I love working with people, but I'm burning out, or I just don't know how to start offering office ergonomics assessments. then hold on tight because this is a good episode for you. So Healthcare pros are perfectly suited for ergonomics Jess started overwhelmed and underpaid. Her days were packed. She was emotionally drained, and she kept wondering. Is this really it for me for the next 20 years? Sound dramatic? Maybe, but if you're nodding your head, I see you. And that's what led her to consider office ergonomics assessments. at first she thought, isn't that just for engineers? Or companies with giant budgets, do I need some fancy software or a biomechanics degree? What if I mess up the report? Have you ever thought those things too? Be honest. I did too. But here's what changed for her. She realized she already knew body mechanics and risk factors. She had done assessments in every setting you can imagine, and she knew she could help people avoid pain if she could just connect the dots. That's where the ergonomics blueprint comes in. It gave her the step-by-step how to do an office ergonomic assessment, what to look for, how to write report, and yes, what to charge. Jess's first assessment went from what if to I did it. So Let's fast forward to Jess's first paid assessment. Picture this, she's in her friend's office, a small accounting firm with 12 employees. The client was actually her friend who complained of neck pain during tax season. If you're listening to this right now, there is opportunity everywhere to get started with office ergonomics assessments, and to get practice, just use the office ergonomics assessment tool and ergonomic risk analysis, root cause helper from the ergonomics blueprint. She didn't overthink it. She trusted the process, and here's what happened. She identified three simple workstation fixes. She sent off a clean, clear, professional report using the blueprint template, and she actually got paid for everyone who's listening to this. I truly believe it's not absolutely necessary to get paid in your first assessments because you are getting practice just in this example got paid. However, many of my students of the ergonomics blueprint do get some sort of value exchange, and that value exchange can be case studies, testimonials, pictures, anything of value that can build that ergonomics consultant's portfolio. So eventually we're gonna be going down the route of building a website. However, you have to build that experience, build the testimonials and case studies to make a case for why strangers are gonna trust you with their ergonomic setup. So Jess got paid$300 for a 40 minute office ergonomic assessment and a report she pulled together in less than an hour. This is what I recommend. Now remember, she had time saving tools that she had access to with the ergonomics blueprint, the biggest one being that swipe file or root cause analysis helper tool that you just copy and paste the ergonomic risk analysis into your clean ergonomic report. Jess had that, so as I mentioned, Jess pulled that. Report together in less than an hour, and that's fairly common for even beginners doing office ergonomics assessments when you use the tools I provide in the ergonomics blueprint. Without the ergonomics blueprint, it will likely take 10 x the time. And this report is not just for beginners as a seasoned ergonomics professional myself, I use the swipe tool for every office ergonomic assessment that I do, and I save boat loads of time. Back to Jess. The best part about this first office ergonomic assessment that she did. Her friend referred two more colleagues who were having shoulder pain, and that's how it happens, my friend. You do good work and that good work gets a referral whether you are seeking it out or your client gives it to you. So here's a question for you. Honestly. Would you take$300 for 90 minutes of your time doing something that comes naturally to you? And a little side note here, that$300 is usually just the start off point for office ergonomics assessments. Better yet, what would you do with extra income? Would you pay off debt? Build a travel fund? Create more space for your family, save for retirement, or just have another revenue stream that is consistently giving you money to help your bottom line. The opportunities here are endless. let's hit pause for a second. If you're listening to this and thinking. I don't know if I'm experienced enough. I'm not great at marketing myself. What if I get questions I can't answer? Ask yourself, are those fears or facts? Because the truth is most healthcare professionals already have the core skills. What's missing is the ergonomic specific context, the templates, the confidence boost. And frankly, a little bit of a nudge. That's exactly what the ergonomics blueprint delivers. What's inside. Let me give you a real quick breakdown of what you're gonna get in the ergonomics blueprint. You're gonna get step-by-step training on doing remote and in-person office ergonomic assessments. You're gonna get report templates that make you look polished and professional. Even if you're brand new, you're gonna get a pricing guide so you're not stuck guessing of how much to charge. Plus, you get me and our amazing community to help you work through anything that comes up. It's like having an experienced mentor. Hello, walking with you the whole way. So real talk. What would happen if you booked one office ergonomic assessment this month? What if you made back your blueprint investment with just two clients? What would change for you if you had the option to scale up? Or down based on your life. Not every healthcare Pro wants to quit their job. Some just want options, freedom, flexibility, and that's what the Ergonomics Blueprint can offer. You don't have to quit your job with office ergonomics assessments. You don't have to go back to school. You really don't have to change much about your life. For this, you just have to decide that you're gonna start in this stream.
