All right, series and sillyness bodybuilding got a special guest, the owner and operator of Nutrafit. Is it Nutrafit or NutriFit?
SPEAKER_01NutriFit.
SPEAKER_00Nutrafit, Austin Holsey. What's up, Austin? How you doing, man?
SPEAKER_01What's up, John? How's it going, bro?
SPEAKER_00Uh I'm going doing good. You know, just staying busy, busting my ass, trying to fucking make ends meet. You know how worried how it is.
SPEAKER_01That's that's the fucking game, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you ain't kidding. Um, so you are the owner and operator of NutriFit and Nutrifit, sorry. And what made you start a supplement company? Because there's a ton of them. But I get the same question asked about me. What made you start a podcast? Because there's a million of them. So but yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_01I feel like there's more podcasts and supplement companies.
SPEAKER_00So it's insane.
SPEAKER_01You probably have more of a competitive market than than I do.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's it's it's it's ridiculous, man. So what yeah, what made you start a supplement company? Are you like a failed bodybuilder like me?
SPEAKER_01I wish I had the genetics to say that, but I I I found out real quick that I wasn't gifted in that aspect.
SPEAKER_00So tell me about that.
SPEAKER_01I never competed. I never competed, but um what really got me into I think the entire space, the you know, supplement space and bodybuilding was just dude, the first job that I ever had was vitamin shop, man. 16 years old.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really? That's funny because I worked there when I was in college, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, bro. I worked at the one in uh place called Rivergate. It was in Madison, Tennessee. Okay, and uh worked with a guy there, still remember the guy, Marcus, uh big big fucker. And uh, you know, he helped me train, started lifting weights. I think when I started working there, I weighed about 130 pounds, soaking wet. Right. You know, within two years, by the time I was a senior in high school, I was about like 180. So, you know, put on some some serious muscle and in a few years actually learning to work out and how to eat properly, and you know, just got fucking obsessed with it, man. You know, that was back in the day when MD magazines we'd get those like oh god, yeah, every month Biden shop and looking at guys like Lee and and Ronnie and Cutler and you know, uh like King Kamali, all those guys.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was uh that it that was like some some crazy motivation.
SPEAKER_00Um oh yeah, back then in uh late 90s, early 2000s, it was that was pretty much the height of bodybuilding, as far as I'm concerned.
SPEAKER_01Man, I I think it was, bro. You know, that was and and that was the days where you know my whole paycheck went to a fucking 80 gram sugar-filled bottle of Cell Tech, bro.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, oh my god, remember that shit? Yeah, I totally forgot about that. Yeah, that's Cell Tech, muscle tech. Well, what's funny is when it's funny that you say that because that's how I get myself out of trouble sometimes. Because being on being a podcaster, I have to be, I have to be honest. Like I'm I have to call a circle, a circle. If I'm holding hands singing kumbaya, the audience is gonna see right through me. Yeah, but it's very difficult doing that and maintaining friendships, right? It it really is. So when when when people ask me, or when somebody asks me, you know, you said this about me, you said that about me, I go, Do you realize that I have a microphone because I'm a failed bodybuilder? I was like, I say, critics are one of two people retired athletes or frustrated athletes, and I'm the latter. So believe me, I wish I could trade places and say, oh, uh, I only took third at the Arnold Classic this year. I, you know, I wish I was in that position, but I'm not. So uh, but yeah, man, it's it's it's it's a it's not a uh it's not an easy game, but it's you try to be as honest as possible, and that's what I and that's what I go on. And but at the same time, it's you know, I went to the New York Pro this weekend, and uh let's just say a lot of people weren't shaking my head.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, you know you'll get that, bro, but I I feel like I feel like there's a there's a huge movement for authenticity. Yeah, I think about the we all know, bro, it's it's needed, it's needed in our days too, right? And not just this space, but a lot of paper spaces. Like, I think the whole era of you know, influencer and all that shit, like, you know, not that everybody that does that is bad, but a lot of those a lot of those guys are full of shit. And yeah, I really think being authentic, man, and and speaking your mind is it's what some people may not think they need to hear it, but I think everybody fucking needs to hear it at the end of the day. Like they need truth and they need authenticity, and there's just too much fake stuff to understand.
SPEAKER_00Oh I absolutely, and that's what I pride my podcast on. Is I actually on this podcast on the um on the bodybuilding podcast, I pride on on telling the truth and saying how how it is. Um, but like I said, you know, a lot of a lot of people get rubbed the wrong way, but it is what it is. You gotta suck it up, man. It is what it is. Um, actually, let me I actually pulled up uh let's see. Here is your Instagram. Can you see that?
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So uh this is uh Nutrafit's Instagram right here. Uh and at the same time, we also have I also pulled up your uh website. Can you see that?
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so this is your website, NutriFit supplements. Uh it's oh, it's Nutrafit.net.
SPEAKER_01Yeah,.net or.com, they both go to the same page.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay, and it looks like you got some some great some great supplements. So how long, when did you actually start the company?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so good question, man. Um I I got the idea for the brand in uh 20 2013 when I when I went when I went back to college to get my bachelor's. I got I got a bachelor's in dietetics. So initially my goal, I wanted to be a sports dietitian. Um had some connections in with the Titans at the time and realized that I I didn't want to do that after I got to the last year uh at undergrad and started building the brand. I was like, hey, you know, I got a lot of experience in this. I like all of the W-2 jobs that I'd had were in supplement stores. Uh-huh. So I, you know, I I was just that was a passion of mine. And uh I worked at the university that I went to in the food science lab. So I had access to equipment and dude, I just started making my own shit, bro. I mean, I still have pictures of uh fucking pre-workout samples that uh used the food saver to make little sample packs.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man, and uh was giving samples to the football team at at uh TSU and uh one thing led to the other. I got a bunch of shit to the the Miami Dolphins through uh Cortland Finnegan, uh, who used to be a Titans player at the time. And uh it was just, you know, it just kind of I just bootstrapped it from there, man. And then 20 uh graduated 2017 and then launched the brand officially in 2018. Um had a rough few years, uh just bad commands, bad products, you know. I'd get product made and two or three months later it's fucked. Uh so we really I I I like to say that we really took off in 2021 was like a really when we did like a full rebrand and really got going efficiently.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_01So let's say 2021 is is what became the brand that you see today.
SPEAKER_00Is what is what Nutrafit is basically started in 2021. Everything before that was like experimental, if you will.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, pretty much.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So the in the description, if anybody wants to go and get uh products, I am gonna have the Instagram in the description, and I'm also gonna have the website in the description so you guys could just click and go and check out the products. Now tell me about some of the products that you have because I was looking at the website. Um, I was mostly interested interested in the pre-workout, but tell me about some of the some of the products that you have and why why it's different from um the other leading brands. What makes it better from the other leading brands?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude, and and back to keeping shit authentic, like I'm not I'm not gonna come on here and and pull the whole we got the best fucking products in the industry. Like every everybody says that shit, right? Yeah, but realistically, like I'm just be straight up. Uh all all of all of us doing this, or most of us are using the same shit. You know what I'm saying? Uh obviously, you know, you have shit formulas in the industry, you have good formulas, you have people doing crazy shit where they're taking something that you don't necessarily need 15 grams of to have the the most loaded product on the market. Uh for me, it's it's never been about that. Uh, for me, it's always been like how can you create the most effective product that you can without charging someone 70 or 80 dollars for a product? Uh yeah, right. And like what type of experience is is your customer getting? Like from a brand aspect and a brand owner, and as a consumer myself, like you said, you know, this fucking market is saturated. So what what's gonna make someone go into a store and choose your product over a brand that's more popular? You know, there's there's brands on the market that's way more popular than my brand, right? And I I I'll admit it, there just is. Uh, but you know, what can you do, especially as a smaller brand, to stand out? And and for me, it's it's really focused on branding, customer experience of when they see your product, when they pick it up, when they see the label, how the label feels. Is there something on that label that can they can kind of resonate with, or or like, you know, like um Easter eggs in there? They're like, holy shit, look at this. Like, did you realize this? So for me, it's it's not more, it's not just about you know what let me just make the most stacked formula. It's the whole thing, it's the whole thing when you're building a brand and you're creating a product. And you know, we have multiple pre-workouts from high STEM to low STEM to non-STEM to medium STEM. Uh so whatever you need, we have it.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's actually one thing that a lot of companies don't do. They usually have one pre-workout and that's it. Um, where you actually that's actually a really good marketing uh logic because like for me, there's only a handful of pre-workouts I use because I know what works for me, right? So, for example, like if it's too high of a stim, I come down, I crash, I sweat. It's but if it's too low, it does nothing for me. So I always try to stay middle of the road. So your your middle of the road uh pre-workout will probably be best for me. What's it called?
SPEAKER_01So I would say our middle of the road is probably crowba. That's uh about 256 MIGs of caffeine. It has a lot, it's just a lot on nootropics. Uh it doesn't have any of the yo hembis in it. So if you have issues with yo himbis like cold sweats or anxiety, you're not gonna get that from that pre-workout.
SPEAKER_00That's perfect for me.
SPEAKER_01For me personally, I'm not a huge high stem taker either. I I used to be when I was younger, bro, like you know, Jack 3D and O Explode, the DMA.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, yeah, the classics.
SPEAKER_01Bro, that's my fucking jam when I was 18, 19 years old, right?
SPEAKER_00What's the name of that pre-workout?
SPEAKER_01Proba, K-R-O-B-A-A.
SPEAKER_00All right, I'm gonna actually order it and try it because it sounds like exactly what I use.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we got three flavors and they're all they're all good.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Uh but yeah, so you know, I'll do that, man. If you want to stack it with like a non-stem pump, you know, I'll do that sometimes. But you know, we've got uh pre's that are that's around 256. Uh symbiote, which is the high stems 420. Damn. Carnage is 400, and Carnage Pump is non-STEM.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01And then as you know, we have a pre coming out with with Lee.
SPEAKER_00Lee first. That's my next uh that's gonna be my next question. So Lee is basically becoming uh is you're gonna have your own line for Lee Priest.
SPEAKER_01Correct, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And how did that happen?
SPEAKER_01Oh man, bro. Uh so so I'll have to give credit and I hope he watches this, but uh good great friend of mine, uh, distributor up in Canada, uh, Andrew Di Arazio. I love you, bro. Um, he connected me with uh Sid, uh, who you know, Sid is Sid knows everybody in this industry. He's worked with Cutler for years, yeah. He did stuff with uh Sulik, you know, obviously he's with Lee now. And man, over the years, me and me and Sid's become real good friends. Like we have dinner every every year at the Arnold with with with Coleman. Uh you know, Coleman's fucking awesome. Um, speaking to him, shout out to Coleman. Uh he hooked me up with the guys uh in Mexico for stem cells, so I'm going there in July.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's great.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, man, so I just uh you know, we we formed a really good relationship. And you know, the past uh it was at the Arnold, uh, sat down with with Sid and Lee and talked extensively to Sid about you know what Lee had going. And you know, as we know, like he's had a re-surgence, man. Big time. Kind of a resurrection and popularity with uh especially especially the younger crowd. You know, he's he's he's fucking on top of his game. Uh I love to see it. Uh so we talked, you know, we talked at the Arnold about it, and we was like, hey, he's like, hey man, look, uh, I've talked to a lot of people, um, but I trust you, I love what you're doing. Uh, and I want I want Lee to work with you guys. Do we? We we made it happen.
SPEAKER_00So now he's gonna is he is he so he's gonna have his own line. What products uh is Lee Priest gonna have from Nutrafit?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so Lee's gonna have uh it's called the Resurrection Series, but it's under the Nutrafit brand, but Brandon is is totally different. Uh still it's still true to the Nutrafit brand, once you see it, which we're gonna release sneak peeks of the product this week, so stay on the lookout for that. Uh we're not releasing the SFP yet, that's coming later. And we're the launch for the pre's are coming first week of June.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Yeah, that's right. Um, you will be in Nashville, is that accurate?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so we'll have them at the Fit Expo, Nashville Fit Expo.
SPEAKER_00I'll be there actually.
SPEAKER_01Okay, cool. Yeah, we'll release them there, they'll be online as well. Too um, starting with pre two flavors. Uh next product is going to be an intra workout. That's one product that we don't have in in our entire line.
SPEAKER_00So oh, you mean like uh branch chain or essential amino craft carb, branch chain, okay, focus, um, energy. Yeah, great product for um uh for uh when you know getting ready for a contest.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it really is. Because then uh, you know, you know you're pulling your calories and you're trying to get all those the protein in at the same time and branch chains and essential amino acids are great intra intra drinks while you're while you're training for a contest. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's that's gonna be that's gonna be a real cool product.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Really cool.
SPEAKER_00What what size shirt are you?
SPEAKER_01Uh it depends. Usually uh usually a large. Uh if it's uh all cotton, it's an XL.
SPEAKER_00XL. Because I'm gonna bring a bunch of shirts with me to Nashville and I'll have I'll have one for you for the the uh podcast.
SPEAKER_01We have uh we have we have Lee shirts that'll be there too for the drive.
SPEAKER_00Okay, cool. So the launch is gonna be the first week of June. And then are the how are they gonna be able to get Lee's series? Are they gonna be able to just go on the website on your Instagram? Yeah, so it's it'll be all available there.
SPEAKER_01There'll be yeah, they could they could you know go through the link on Instagram. Obviously, we got shop feature. They can go to the website, nutrafit.com. You can buy it at the fit expo in Nashville.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think it's the fifth and the sixth, maybe. Yes, yeah, it is fifth and the sixth. So it's there, and then we've we're gonna have um a lot of retail stores carrying it. So we have uh an exclusive distributor. Uh next gen distributors is gonna be the exclusive distributor for the US. And then we already have you know tons of accounts globally that wants to bring this in Australia, Hong Kong.
SPEAKER_00That's fantastic, man.
SPEAKER_01Canada, uh, Mexico, Central America. It's it's gonna be it's gonna be pretty fucking awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it sounds like you're ready to blow up, man. It sounds like and you got the right guy, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_01Dude, yeah, yeah. You got the right it's been awesome, man. Like the the initial post we made just blew up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, I'm actually I'm actually excited because um uh Lee has become a good friend, and um Lee is Lee is one of those guys where if he is your friend, like he's your like you can't get rid of him.
SPEAKER_01That's the best to have, though.
SPEAKER_00He will lay down in traffic for you. Do you know what I mean? He's one of those guys where like if he's if he considers you a friend, there you there is no wrong or I don't know if you heard the story about um him and species. Did you hear that story? I have not, no. So he was signed with species and he's still friendly with Dave, but Dave had an argument with Greg Valentino. Okay, and Greg and Lee are really good friends. And um Lee basically called up Dave and said, Cancel my contract. I don't like the way you treated Greg. I swear to God, I'm not kidding. I swear to God.
SPEAKER_01Tough talk about loyalty, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's he's one of a kind, and and there's only a handful of guys that I've met in this uh industry that um bodybuilders or you know, or uh retired bodybuilders that have that character, and Lee's one of them, you know. And my mother used to say, uh, my mother used to say, the craziest people are always your best friends. And he definitely fits that description. But Lee is Lee is aces, and so is so is Sid. I mean, just fantastic people. So, you know, uh lots I know you're gonna be successful, but uh lots of luck and and love and respect to you. And uh, you know, this is gonna be great. So Nutrafit Labs, Instagram in the description website, nutrafit.com and nutrifit.net in the description. As soon as I get off, I'm gonna order Kroba and then Resurrection Lee's Lee Priest Resurrection series for Nutrafit starts the first weekend of June. Uh June 5th and 6th, and they will be available on the Instagram and the website.
SPEAKER_01Correct, and at the Fit Expo.
SPEAKER_00And oh yeah, it'll be uh sold at the Fit Expo if anybody is in Nashville in uh June 5th or 6th, please come by. I believe it's the fair fairgrounds in Nashville.
SPEAKER_01I believe so, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and there's a uh there's a uh center and uh it's the Music Fit Expo. So um Lee will be there, uh Austin will be there, Sid will be there, Jay Cutler will be there. Um I believe Larry Wheels is gonna be there. That's gonna be fun when I meet Larry Wheels. So I've really torn to him a couple times.
SPEAKER_01I don't I don't know if Coleman's coming.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, I'm not sure. Um I will be there. I might attract about seven people. Um but uh it should be a it should be a good time. Oh, and uh Brian Shaw will be there too, I believe. World world's strongest man. And I'm sure a bunch of other guys will be will be there as well, you know. Uh but you know, I have I've done videos on Larry Wheels and he will be there. And you know, I'm sure he he probably seen it because those gossip videos get like thousands of views, right? Like thousands upon thousands of views. So, you know, if he says anything to me, I'll just be like, listen, dude, that you know, I I I call a circle a circle. I can't, I don't know what to tell you. I'm I'm not gonna lie and sit here and say I didn't say that. Yeah, I said those things. Yeah, that is what it is.
SPEAKER_01Uh it is.
SPEAKER_00Well, what it what it is was I made a video where it's so funny where it's like, what can Larry Wheels do next to be relevant? I mean, how much shit does he have to try? And it I don't know if you know this, but it got all the way down to sumo wrestling.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit, no, it didn't.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, look, look it up. Larry Wheels actually tried sumo wrestling. I'm not I'm not making it up. Not making it up.
SPEAKER_01That didn't go well, did it?
SPEAKER_00No, it didn't go well at all. It did not go well at all. Uh but um that being said, he's doing something right, man, because the whole world fucking follows him and loves him. So, you know he's he knows what he's doing as far as social media goes, that's for sure. But Austin, um, thank you very much. I I really appreciate you coming on and doing this uh interview with me. I'm really looking forward to uh this new product line. As soon as I get off, I'm ordering Kroba because I do need a new pre-workout. And um I will be talking to Lee uh right after this. We'll be talking about the uh New York Pro with Paul Barnett, and then we will be talking about the Resurrection series as well.
SPEAKER_01So you going live?
SPEAKER_00I am going live in Less at 9 30 my time. Me, Lee, and Paul Barnett. And we're going to be talking about the New York Pro. If you're not busy, you want to join us, you can jump on.
SPEAKER_01Okay, cool. Yeah, I might. I'll try to catch it. Um, I'll shoot you text if I can jump on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll send you. I'll send you the link. If uh it's a stream, it's I'll send you the link if you want to jump on. Please jump on.
unknownSweet.
SPEAKER_01Awesome.
SPEAKER_00All right, Austin. Thank you. Much love and respect, brother. I'll talk to you soon.
SPEAKER_01See, John.
SPEAKER_00Later.
