SPEAKER_01We are definitely the best looking podcast. I mean, really. Nobody better.
SPEAKER_00We are handsome. Nobody better.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit, you're fucked up. How are you feeling, man?
SPEAKER_00I felt good this morning, and then midday it just took a turn, and yeah, uh yeah, it's you know, just a little achy and tired, and you know, um, but I only have one more week of treatment, and then I'm off for like six weeks, and then I gotta go for the stem cell big one transplant, and then will they take it out first, and then they whack me with fucking chemo again. That's gonna lay me out, dude. I gotta quarantine for a hundred days. Oh wow, not not near not allowed near anybody for a hundred days.
SPEAKER_01Where are you gonna go for a hundred days?
SPEAKER_00Like if you can't if you can't work from home, then I'll go outside and I just can't be around people.
SPEAKER_01Who are they gonna go? Where are the family? Where's the family gonna go?
SPEAKER_00So Sammy's actually off to college, so she's leaving in like two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that works.
SPEAKER_00So she'll be back for Thanksgiving, but I gotta be careful around her. We'll have to wear masks in the house, and we have an air purifier and stuff like that, you know.
SPEAKER_01So you can't touch your wife for a hundred days, right? Wow.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, if she's if she's home, if she's home, you know, and she's safe, she's not around anybody sick, is like a three-day she'll wear a mask for three days. If she's not near anybody, then she could then she could be be near me. But this is what we had to do when I first got home from the hospital.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, yeah, just gotta do it all over again.
SPEAKER_00But then it's just you know, it's the last hurdle. It sucks, but I gotta do it.
SPEAKER_01Right, right, right, right. All right. First days first, let's uh get the uh sponsor out of the way. Anabolic Academy is brought to you by IPR Subs and only I Prevail Subs. Yeah. Discount code is SNS10. The link is in the description. Go ahead and go buy yourself some. I actually have to pick up fiber. Uh oh, okay. But there are actually some really uh use the what is it? What's the uh the pre-workout? Rogue X Rogue X is an excellent pre-workout sleep aid. Uh Dream Chaser, but did the uh the forge pump? What is it?
SPEAKER_00Doing six new flavors in the forge pump.
SPEAKER_01Uh wow, really.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm waiting to approve the flavor, I'm waiting to approve the samples, and then uh once they approve the good. I should have them in hopefully eight, eight weeks, ten weeks. Very nice. Yeah, it'll go right into production, but uh, those are gonna be really good.
SPEAKER_01Okay, very cool. My favorite seems to be the fiber, the uh rogue X and Dream Chaser. Dream Chaser, yeah. This is a dream chaser. As I get older, it's becoming more and more difficult to fall asleep, and I fall asleep and I snore like a bastard. It's unbelievable, apparently, because I get I get woken up by my wife going, roll over, roll like I'm one of the dogs, roll over.
SPEAKER_00So, dude, I can't even use my dream chaser right now because a couple of the ingredients interfere with some of the medications I'm on.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00So, dude, I I haven't slept, you know, like I should in months, you know. I can't wait. Actually, during that six-week time that I'm off, I could use it because I'll be off all the medications. So I I could I could use it, I could pick it back up again.
SPEAKER_01Uh, let's see. I haven't tried Jason's pre. I like crucifix, but it's fucking sour. It is very sour. You could try Jason's pre-workout, it is uh rogue X. The one thing I'm gonna tell you is the crucifix is sour, but Jason's pre-workout is gonna be a little salty because he puts uh Himalayan sea salt in it, so you can actually taste the uh a little bit of the salt. Now I like salt, like I I have no problem with it. So what flavor do you have? The the yours, yeah. Uh I don't remember which one blackberry lemonade, blue cherry, or the uh Skittles. Skittles, okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the other two aren't as salty.
SPEAKER_01Okay, but I like I like salty. So if the other two aren't as salty, then go for the other one. But I like the whole sweet and salty combination thing, you know. But um that being said, it is an excellent pre-workout, like super duper excellent. All right, if you're not okay, so get the other one then. Don't get the Skittles one, James. Get the what's the other two?
SPEAKER_00Try the Blackberry. Actually, try the blue cherry.
SPEAKER_01Try the blue cherry.
SPEAKER_00Rogue X is slamming, do great flavor.
SPEAKER_01SNS 10. Remember, you get 10 off. Don't forget SNS 10. And that's end like the symbol, like the thing.
SPEAKER_00The battery.
SPEAKER_01Let's get to the topic at hand. Peptides and competitive bodybuilding. Is it worth it? Now, okay, so here's how I look at it, and we're gonna go down some of the uh some of the uh actual peptides that are very popular now. Here's how I look at it in the 90s Yeah, definitely the blue cherry in the 90s when GH came on the scene, it was a game changer. Like it was a game that you the you saw the physiques fucking just change overnight with the use of growth hormone. You don't really see that with peptides, uh you know, you don't see like it being a game changer. The only one that might be, in my opinion, the only one that might be helpful for a competitive bodybuilder may be uh something like the Red Atrutide because it becomes easier to diet. But if it affects your body, like if it if you're using it and you're not getting the results while using it to to uh for pre-contest to get in shape, then it's not worth it. So if it if it turns off the the meat the the the the brain to like stop being hungry, yeah, that's helpful. But if it's doing something that is not going to that's gonna prevent you from getting in shape for a contest, then it's not helpful at all. Now, I've only used reditrutide for a short period of time, it does get rid of the hunger noise, but I did not stay on it long enough because I didn't really feel I needed to see if it actually affected my body type. So let's start off with those. The with because those are the most popular ones right now the semaglutide, the reditrutite, the trisepatide. So go ahead, Jay. What's your take on it?
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't recommend any of the GLP ones for bodybuilding this at all.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, you know, if diet noise is your problem being a competitive bodybuilder, yeah, I hate to break it to you, dude. Pick a different sport because uh, you know, that's why there's champions and people that become champions, and there's people that don't, because they can't take the tough stuff. Um, and people have done this, you know, for 60 years, 50 years without red at true tide. So if people think they need to add reditrue tide now because nobody is capable of getting ready for a bodybuilding competition, you're out of your mind, right? Right. Um, but with that being said, you're slowing down your metabolic, your your process of metabolizing food, you're slowing down your gastric dumping, you're not assimilating protein the way you're supposed to. So your meals aren't being assimilated to help your body recover and repair the way it needs to, it's slowly digesting because it has like a four-day, you know, when you take a GLP one, it takes almost four days to digest that food that would normally that I didn't know. I didn't know that it would normally take somebody 24 hours. Okay, you can't carb up on it, you can't do that. It just it just screws your whole system up. If you want to take a GLP one and for the hell of it and you work out and exercise, no problem. But for competitive bodybuilders, no way should they take a GLP one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, the only honestly, I'm I I've like I said, I did not know that was the case. If that's the case, then it's it's no good. Okay, it's no good. I wasn't really shitting on the GLP ones for dieting because my attitude was like if it turns off the hunger noise in your head, then great. But if it affects your body, but you're saying how it slows down the digestive process, then it's absolutely no good. Definitely not. So I was not, I would it wasn't that I was against it or for it. Uh my attitude was, well, if it if that helps get you through the process, then fine. But my if the case is that it actually slows down the metabolism and you then obviously you can't get into shape, it's just gonna be nothing but a you know a blockade for you to get into shape for a contest. So yeah, that's okay. So that's out the window. All right. The next ones that are the most popular seem to be uh uh what they call the the secretagogs, which is basically there are three really popular peptides that release help release natural growth hormones. So one of them is semorin, the other one is CJC1295 and ipomoralin, and the other one is tesesamorlin. Um what is it? Tesamorlin. Tesamorlin. Sorry, I mispronounced it. Yes, and my attitude is you might, if you're gonna compete in bodybuilding and be a competitive bodybuilder, you might as well just take GH because it to me that's the equivalent of trying to use HCG and clone it in replace of testosterone.
SPEAKER_00Good idea, again, good point, very good point, right?
SPEAKER_01So, what's your take on these? Because these are um we're going down like the most popular ones, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So those are all growth hormone secretagogs, so they'll raise your natural IGF levels. Um, do they do it as as prominently as as uh you know growth hormone or 191 amino chain? No, not at all. Um, but some people think it's more cost effective to do peptides. Some people I don't want to take GH, but I'll take these when they don't realize they're doing the same thing. Um, for whatever the reason are, I'm not against people using them. They do have they do have added benefits, you know, for bodybuilders. Just make sure you get a cancer screening first that's right before you do so, because it could grow cancer cells like it grows muscle cells, it doesn't discriminate, it'll grow all cells. Um, but but yeah, the the growth hormone secretigod peptides, they're here to stay, they're they're not ones that are going to fade away. Those are ones that people will truly always benefit from.
SPEAKER_01No, I I fully agree. We're talking in in for a competitive NPC IFBB bodybuilder, then to me it's worthless. But if you're a guy who you know is into fitness and you're not competing and you don't want to use GH, then yeah, this is definitely a good alternative, right? But if you're a competitive bodybuilder and you're you're looking to uh be really competitive and win, I this is not a replacement for GH. GH is going to be top-notch. That's it. It is, and like I said, it's literally like replacing your testosterone with Clomid and HCG, it's just not gonna be the same, it's just not going to. Now, the injury and recovery ones, the BPC 157 and the TB500s. Um, I don't know, I'm on the fence once again, because these are basically injury recovery and joint health. Again, if it helps, but first, okay, first of all, if you're a competitive bodybuilder and you have some kind of joint problem or you have some kind of uh pain and issue, then you really need to go check it out because to put your body and push your body through a pre-contest workout, pre-contest diet, and you're in pain, is it's you first of all, you're not going to be able to get the best results that you're going to if you're in pain, if there's a problem, right? So that's the first thing. But if it's something like, for example, if you if you have like achy joints and you're looking to like I like to use DECA for my achy joints, it really helps. And if you think that these are going to do the same, give you uh relief from achy joints, I highly doubt it, but I've never used it at the same time. So, what's your take on the um the injury recovery and joint health peptides?
SPEAKER_00So it depends who you ask, right? Because you know, I've I've taken BPC years ago when it was first on the scene, and I I could truly say I did notice a reduction in inflammation. My shoulders felt better, I had better mobility, some of the pain was gone, the healing process was a little was a little better. Um, with that being said, I don't know if the raw ingredients that are being passed around today are like they were in the past. I think they're all diluted.
SPEAKER_01Um that could be because they're very common.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so the thing is, you know, I I know people that swear by them. They say I took it and my injury, you know, recovered in double time, and I feel great and everything's recovering, and you know, and I have other people that use it and say I didn't feel anything, you know.
SPEAKER_01So I've had the same thing, yeah. I've heard the same thing.
SPEAKER_00So it could be a bad source, it could be placebo, you know, it could be maybe it works for some people and some injuries and doesn't work for others and other injuries, you know. So there's still testing that needs to be done. These still aren't approved, you know, and and the fact that BPC hasn't made it out of um uh uh second stage testing is a little alarming, you know, with the amount of years it's been being looked at. So it it it either they can't state that it does these things or they don't have enough information to move forward to state to uh third stage trials. So it's locked in in stage two um for a long time, and and there's got to be a reason why it's not coming out of of the second stage.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I said, if you have an injury and you need it corrected and you take it and it helps heal the injury, then great, right? Fantastic. Uh, but as for competitive bodybuilders, if you have an injury, you shouldn't be competing to begin with because you're just not going, you you you need to be healthy, and don't get me wrong, I know people that that you know go through it and you know they just kind of tough it out, but you never get this the same results as you would as if you were healthy. It also depends on the injury, right? Right, you know, you know, if it's a severe shoulder or elbow or knee injury, then you really need to go have it checked out. Uh but and again, for people that want some relief but aren't competitive bodybuilders and you want to give it a shot, go right ahead. You know, uh I know Holly uh Holly uses it. She's told me, and she's told me that it actually works well for her. So I think it's individual, but I also think it's not something that's gonna be a game changer in competitive bodybuilding, put it that way, right? The other one, there's there's another weight loss one that um that I want to find out. Uh and I believe it is oh, MATC.
SPEAKER_00MOTC.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So that's supposed to um enhance and uh support mitochondrial function.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay. So what it says uh a mitochondrial uh derived peptide studied for improving cellular metabolic flexibility and insulin insulin sensitivity. What is your take on on MOT C?
SPEAKER_00So I think it looks great on paper. Um, and a lot of these peptides, that's a problem, is they sound and they look great on paper, but when you do them, do you really see, you know, for for people to get the results out of a MOT C that they're suggesting, they have to be doing this for extensive extensive times over years to really you know kickstart mitochondrial function. It's not something you take two or three shots and all of a sudden, you know, it's like uh you know you're on limitless. Remember, limitless, they took a pill, and yeah, um, you know, it doesn't work that way, you know. So um, and again, I I know people that have said they used it and they feel great, and I know other people that say they use it and they feel nothing. Okay, the other one, there's another one that is for um, but here's the thing here's the thing you're never gonna hear anybody who say I took growth hormone and I didn't see any results.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00You're not gonna hear anybody say I took Trent or Primo with testosterone and I didn't see any results. That's what's that's what's you know diluting when you to when you talk about peptides, is you can't have something that works for half the population and and not the other, you know, it's like that, and then maybe that's why these things aren't getting past certain studies, maybe they just don't work the way they they suggest that they do because on paper they all look great, right?
SPEAKER_01No, you're a hundred percent right. Now there's another one, AOD 9604. It is a modified fragment of human growth hormone. And the reason why I knew about this one, I mean I had to look it up because it refreshed my memory, is I remember that Phil Klahar uses it when he when he was doing the Masters Olympia. Which one is it again? I'm sorry. It's AOD 9604. All right, so it's a modified fragment of human growth hormone, uh, research for targeting fat breakdown without impacting lean muscle or blood sugar. And I remember Phil saying that it works if you're on it, it seems to be effective, effective, especially for him, when he was on a pre-contest diet. It wasn't anything significant that would, you know, if you're overweight and you lose 20 pounds, kind of deal. He actually added it to his you know, regimen of other anabolics that helped him, you know, get in shape, plus the clambuterol, plus the T3, and so on and so forth. Have you heard of this one?
SPEAKER_00I've heard of it. I never never tried it though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so basically, it is a fragment of growth hormone. I think it has another name. I think it's a tick, it has a nickname, frag something or other. Um, and again, I don't know if I don't think I don't think any of these are game changes.
SPEAKER_00No, no, none of them are. None of these are gonna replace, you know, what people have been doing for years, for decades, you know, half a century. Um, it's it's not gonna replace that, you know. And uh it certainly isn't gonna change the sport of bodybuilding. And to some degree, I don't know if it's gonna make any type of ripple effect in terms of competitors becoming any better than they already are. Um the only thing it's the only thing I could think of is somebody because guy they're already taking GH, which beats out the peptides, they're already taking testosterone, so there's there's no peptides that actually, you know, as you're using a an HCG or Clomid or Clomiphene. Um, but as far as recovery, okay, maybe, but the anabolics in the growth hormone are speeding up your recovery anyway. So it's uh none of these are going to make an impact in the bodybuilding scene. Maybe for natural athletes, they might see something. That's not sure if it's tested for if they test for this, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, uh, the majority of them aren't. Um, the majority of them are supposed to be for clinical use only, right? That's another thing between before peptides, it was SARMs, and they kind of fall in this gray area. And the majority of the people that I've known that use them don't want to either they're afraid or they believe all the propaganda of anabolic steroids, and they're afraid to use it, but they'd rather go in this gray area where there's not nearly as much research as anabolic steroids like SARMs, like peptides, and use that, probably because it just doesn't have the negative stigma that anabolics does, which is probably why they're called TRT TRT and not steroids, right? But I've noticed that I've noticed it's it's it's people that are afraid to kind of pull the trigger and they jump on peptides or they jump on SARMs.
SPEAKER_00Well, people are told, you know, that in the beginning they were told that pro hormones and SORMs were safe, there was no side effects, no estrogen bulbs. Yeah, there was it was just a song and a dance to sell these things to kids, you know. Um, and then people realize that the SARMs and the pro hormones are more toxic than than anabolics, and so that you're taking, you know, that you're trying to take this as an alternative, it's more dangerous than than the real stuff, you know.
SPEAKER_01So because I get a lot of people that that will talk to me. At the gym or talk to me at work, and you know, they're really, you know, they're like, Oh, I'm starting TRT and or I'm using peptides, and or and they don't know the difference uh of TRT and anabolic steroids, which is no difference, honestly. They're just they're literally prescribing you sipinate, right? They have no clue. And then the I have a lot of people that'll be on SARMs or pro hormones or peptides, real fat. I have plenty of guys at work are uh use SARMs or pet uh peptides, and even they don't even majority of them don't even work out, they're just like they're just using it because they want to lose weight or whatever the case may be. It's the it's the new hot thing going around because SARMs kind of took a dive after peptides came around and became really popular, you know. The the thing is though, none of these are game changers. The last game changer was probably insulin, you know, growth before that, those were game changers. Now you were you were around when growth was already popular, but do you remember?
SPEAKER_00But the generation before you when you competed in terms of when I was an amateur, growth hormones first started getting around.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so you were during what was it like uh being a competitive bodybuilder and going through that era of when GH first came on the scene?
SPEAKER_00So you could just see the the amount of quality muscle and dense, harder, harder looking muscle, grainier muscle was achieved. Um but dude, it was great. It was the look was pretty, it was still you know art artistic in a sense, you know, like there was still nice shape, you know, and and uh you know, growth hormone definitely before it started becoming abused, um played a pretty big primary role, you know, in in in the evolution of what bodybuilders look like, you know. Um, but yeah, I think growth hormone helped create a better look. Um and I think it started going getting a little too started going a little too far.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, uh, I mean, it's just like you know, a lot of bodybuilders have a personality that's an addictive personality. So if four units a day is good, then eight units has to be better. If eight units is good, 16 units has to be even better, right?
SPEAKER_00Why not, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it never works that way. It's the worst that could happen. Yeah, it never works that way. So explain why more is not better when it comes to growth hormone and anabolics.
SPEAKER_00Well, because you know, the human body, you have a frame, right? Everybody has a skeletal frame on them, and that skeletal frame, as much as it's enhanced by these, you know, performance enhancers, um, it still can only hold a certain amount of muscle before it starts looking distorted, and that's when it started going the other way, was that it's just too much muscle on this frame. It's you're looking squattier and dumpier, and you're just packing it on and packing it on, and the and it you can't even move the same way. It just the aesthetics is out of it, you know.
SPEAKER_01Um, I'm not sure if I'm answering the question, but uh yeah, no, I just want to the the the question was more about why more isn't beneficial, why having an addictive personality because okay, for example, we had this conversation five years ago, and I told you I was on a thousand milligrams of testosterone, and you said you could cut it to 500, and I've cut it to and I've cut it to 500, and I saw the same results, right? Right?
SPEAKER_00So that's basically what I'm saying is so your body can only absorb a certain amount of of whatever you're taking, right? And the rest of it becomes stagnant and gets wasted. Um, and you just get more side effects, you know, because you're putting more of this chemical in your body, it's not being utilized. So you start experiencing the side effects, and then it's more you know, damage to the liver because it's gotta get excreted out and your kidneys and blood pressure and everything else. Um, but you have to find your happy medium of of what's a good level where you're achieving a good look, and when okay, this is enough. Like you just can't keep adding fuel to the fire and adding fuel to the fire and expect it to have this nice long-lasting flame. You know, you're gonna burn it out um if you start putting too much into it. So um, but more of anything isn't better, you know. Um, you know, more drugs isn't better, more food isn't better. You know, like there's certain instances where you need these things, right? If if you're a drug addict and you do more drugs, you're gonna fucking die, you're gonna overdose, you know. Like so that you gotta find that happy medium. But you know, the body can only handle so much of anything, the rest is gonna get wasted.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the best analogy I ever I ever heard when it came to anabolic stories, it was by a female, but I think I've might have told you this before. Well, it was a female bodybuilder who was a friend of mine in the late 90s, early 2000s was Cassie Hornbuckle. I don't know if you remember her, she never turned pro, from what I understand, but she was an NPC bodybuilder, but she was very tall, she was huge, she was a big woman, and she actually said to me, We were talking about anabolic stories, and she said to me, Did you ever see a woman that wears too much makeup on a goji? She goes, It doesn't look good, right? And I was like, No, she goes, just a little bit helps. She goes, Anabolics is the same way, just a little bit, that's all you need. And it was the best analogy, and I still use it till this day, right? And that happens to be, and I have a feeling that the other drugs I know peptides technically isn't a drug, it's kind of like in the gray area. I have a feeling the same thing goes for them, right? And I have a feeling that there are there are people out there that are abusing the peptides as well, yeah, because that's just human nature, right? That's just human nature. We don't really talk about the abuse of peptides or abuse of Psalms, we only talk about the abuse of anabolic steroids, but I guarantee you you're gonna find people that take a huge amount of peptides, especially if there's not a bad stigma around them as of yet.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's so early, you know, give it a time until people start getting adverse reactions from doing these things for because there's no studies on long-term use that's published, you know, none at all. Um, so what people are doing, they're gonna be our clinical trials, you know, they're gonna be there are our hamsters, there are guinea pigs. You know, we'll see what happens in the next few years. If uh, God forbid some bad things start happening to people and people start getting sick, god forbid, and hopefully it doesn't happen, but but um, you know, they're they're walking a thin thin wire here.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I want to make one announcement and then we can go tonight. I'm recording muscle talk. It's me, Lee Priest, and I have a special guest coming on. He might only be coming on for a short period of time, but his name is actually let me see if I can find it. Uh uh sorry, give me a second. Okay, John Dorsey, who is known on IG as Goob, okay? Yeah, and he actually broke the story of an IFBB bodybuilder that's competing this weekend, and he is a I saw that. Yeah, he is a convicted sex offender, and he is competing in Atlanta this weekend, and it is on public record. I looked it up myself, I found it myself. What did he do? He basically slept with a 15-year-old when he was 31. Oh, yeah. Um, and he was charged and convicted. Goob says that he only had probation, but what I saw was that the punishment was six years in jail. But I don't know if he actually served the six years, and I don't know how could have been a suspended sentence. Could who knows? I don't know the law very well, but he's gonna be on it. We're gonna be talking about the guy's name is Ray Short. And look, there are crimes that are forgiving. Okay, you know, we our friend Bo Bo Lewis, you know, got into a fight with a guy on the street, and um he he killed the guy and went to jail for 18 years. And that was obviously not an intentional. They got into a street fight and it was accidental, and he served as 18 years, I believe it was 16 or 18 years. I could I could forgive that. Once you go this down this road, I that I can't forgive it. You know, children are innocent, and I don't want to hear like she, you know, this is statutory grape. Okay, and I can't forgive when you do this to children. You're a 31-year-old man, you're the person that should be more responsible. So we're gonna have Gubon, we're gonna be talking about this whole situation. Um, I believe Glenda Murray is the is the promoter for Atlanta. I don't know if she knows. They may very well not know. They have to know now, because now everybody's talking about it, right? I don't know if any actions will be taken. I have no idea.
