All right, laughing How did

Snyders Return:

Hello and welcome to Snyder's return a tabletop role playing podcast you join us today as two intrepid investigators are dealing with the case of nefarious details. It is my absolute pleasure to run the city of mist tabletop role playing game. And I'm joined today by the wonderful

Nina de Silva:

Well hello my name is Bob people in discord know me as balalaika and I'm relatively new to sort of mess I have played some I wish to dm it one day yet that that's basically what you

Snyders Return:

you probably need to know about me. And who are you playing today Bob,

Nina de Silva:

I am playing a character named Nina she is the CEO of a logging company with relatively questionable environmental ethics. And she is one of these people that were at like to rise to the top like no matter what she's going to be the most powerful person of the most powerful company although there is this little voice in her head that sometimes say hey, maybe you should not destroy forests, you know, maybe you should be a nice person. And this is why recently she has been feeling this power inside her and she has realised that maybe she can do things that most people shouldn't be able to do. She has the mifos inside her of a data named boy data in and this is a Brazilian mifos that is basically its name can be translated to fire snake and the snake run through the forest very fast and is known to be the protector of forests. So people that harm anything inside the forest are not known to either burn to death or be become like mad at the side of the snake. And yeah, she is has been trying to juggle what she hasn't sativa and what she wants to become us a person. Also like just as an appearance, she's very tall and very slim. So like kind of like paper thin and like just tell us over you with authority and just you know hide altogether. That's basically

Snyders Return:

what joining Nina today is.

Aoki Cho:

And my name is Martin. I go off mom just by Mart on the internet and my character is a okay Joe. He is a man of Asian descent of Japanese descent. And he works as a sushi chef in small berth rather fancy Japanese Steiner job that he enjoys very has the mindset of getting off mastering his skills of making sushi. But he is also touched or rather completely obsessed with his mythos which is raging, the Japanese god of thunder and lightning and he is region he is not like possessed by region. He is rather patronised our patrons by region so sometimes region as an energy entity can show up and give him some a piece of knowledge or maybe a little bit of his powers. And in essence our key has turned into some kind of lightning ninja so he is fast, he's stealthy, and use the CES knife skills from work add to a very very interesting extent while in Drawing is his Smith house. I think that's about it for now for him.

Snyders Return:

All right, well, thank you both, we will put information as best we can in the description of the podcast below. So moving into the city moving into the case itself, the adventure. The purview are are going on. We open an igloo sky looking over a wide section of the city. And we sort of move away from the high rises and and the big business of downtown and we head a bit further out of town, moving into leafy a suburban area, and we concentrate down and down to a high school. And then as kids of all ages, sort of high school kids filtering out from the main doors, groups and cliques in, and all these different individuals and small groups moving about and carrying on their daily life. And we focused down onto the back of one female, high school student. And we follow her she steps down the steps away from the main building, along a path, joining with friends. And we watch as they move away from the high school to chatting, laughing, sort of chasing off a little bit, getting away from the toil of the day. And we follow them into first a junkyard where we see them around fire, seeming to do some sort of socialising some strange activities. And then, as a discussion, muffled voices, we can't really pick out the details. But we follow the lone female as she strides away from this area, and towards what looks like a rotten derelict. And she looks both ways along the main road before looking along the path towards the left of the front door. As she steps towards it and up the stairs onto the porch. And touches the dome of the scene fades to black. Several days pass. And we pick up with our team, our investigators are caring about their lives. There have been numerous troubles in the city, as there is in any large metropolis. Something something unusual, catches your eye in the paper. A number of high school kids seem to be going missing. And during your sort of meet up your relaxation time when the two of you get together to discuss things you've been working on. out in the hallway. A lone female a sense of stairs and moves along the corridor and you see a silhouette you see the shadow sort of skip under the doorframe and a silhouette appear from the other side of the glass. And there is a almost a hesitation and a reserved knock on the door.

Nina de Silva:

So we are in the office together, right?

Snyders Return:

Yes.

Nina de Silva:

I just look over there. Look at the door. They look back, are they okay? Because I'm reading my newspaper comfortably sitting on my sofa. No mention of moving at all.

Aoki Cho:

I'll fly and I'll swiftly walk to the door and open it not seeing a thing very quietly

Snyders Return:

as you open the door standing there sort of almost in two minds as a sort of middle aged woman. And she sort of struggles to sort of bring herself to make eye contact with either of you. Definitely you okey she sort of looks a bit sheepish towards the purview lost in two minds.

Aoki Cho:

Can we help you?

Snyders Return:

Um, I hope so. I've I've had no luck with the police and have nowhere else to turn. A friend recommended that I seek out some other kind of help and suggested your your pairing.

Aoki Cho:

Your friend is vice. Come on in. Maybe we can help.

Snyders Return:

Thank you. Thank you. Bye Just I don't know what to do this is I'm sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. My name is Alison. Alison, Craig. Sorry. Sorry, who? Who are you?

Aoki Cho:

My name is Aoki, Chico. And this is my partner, Nina,

Nina de Silva:

just not from my server with my newspaper. So

Aoki Cho:

why don't you tell us what your problem is?

Snyders Return:

Of course, yes. I didn't think it was a problem. It's my daughter, Emily. She's young. In The City High High School. She's She's not come home in a good couple of days. And she's, what? Don't you know, kids. She's she wants to be a bit rebellious. She stayed at friends overnight, but to not come back for a couple of days. I'm worried

Nina de Silva:

I finally closed my eyes newspaper. And first of all, I do stand up for the college emotion for Allison to sit on our necks in front of our desk, which we probably have somewhere. And the client chair I would say okay, why don't you get her some tea? She seems to need to calm herself down. And I walk over to our side like the investigators side of the table. Sit down. You say she has been busy for two days. But the police won't do anything with a missing persons case.

Snyders Return:

Yes, so she's it's not like Emily to not come back. I'm just looking for someone to help me find her.

Aoki Cho:

Meanwhile, I just bow and respectfully and go make some jasmine tea

Nina de Silva:

Well, I am relatively untouched by that I don't think my style or my my position my my I would say posture changes much but I do I am interested. I leant forward a little bit I don't know what to ask you more if you say people usually come back What makes you think that it's not like Emily if so many people actually you said there are more people disappearing but then coming back

Snyders Return:

she's she's a high school kid that so busy dealing with other things that they've just told me to wait another another day and and if she's not back then then report it again. Something doesn't feel right there's one speaking to other parents There seems to be a number of of the kids sort of not not coming home or coming home after several days and it's not like family

Nina de Silva:

have you maybe talk to the parents of these children to see why they have been off to the do know if it's something connected or if they just are not I don't think it's not connected there's not a big possibility

Snyders Return:

as he goes to make tea Allison sort of not script but turns sort of square on to you Nina and sort of puts her hands on the desk where she can sort of almost leans towards you to try and

Nina de Silva:

say hey, look up

Unknown:

I okay,

Nina de Silva:

I'm probably still making together. I don't know. He's a super chef. He probably makes the best to ever but also it takes long. Yeah, it seems like we we have a school to visit and some people to talk to some thrifty yank out of them. I say out loud to me. Okay.

Aoki Cho:

Yes. And could you tell us where your daughter was last seen and

Snyders Return:

what schools should go the other parents have mentioned the children's stepping out for or staying out for extended periods and with the police unable to help. I fear that she may be caught up in something. Something worse than just rebelling against me and her father. Yeah,

Aoki Cho:

well Meanwhile, I'll come back with A nice cup of tea. And also, I still want to ask Are there any friends of her who have not disappeared? that we might want to talk to? Or can talk to?

Snyders Return:

Emily wasn't the most popular girl and and the friends she had before have sort of moved away or found other friends. I couldn't I mean, you're welcome to come back to the house or or maybe go and speak to someone at school her school to see if if they know who her friends are, but she was quite quiet and shy. She wouldn't talk to us before or she wouldn't really socialise too much. And then she made some friends and and I don't know. She seemed she seemed preoccupied. She was often on our phone or on the computer. Other than that, she just wanted to go to school and that was the last we saw of her. Hi,

Nina de Silva:

Nina gets up. She starts packing her very expensive, probably Louie Vuitton purse, which like some other litigation sedation items, or maybe just like writing things for writing your cell phone and stuff. To get to this cool thing you say anywhere else? You want to go fast? Okay.

Aoki Cho:

Well, alternatively can we can go to just woman's house and see her child's room and maybe we can get some clues there but I believe the school is a very good start and

Nina de Silva:

yeah, because this coalface she seems she seems to really want to quit just go to the school there are people like there are pupils that disappeared and came back and maybe we can meet them and talk to them. Yeah.

Snyders Return:

I guess as Nina you begin to sort of pick up your stuff and okey Mrs. Craig sort of finishes the tee and thinks she warmly you can see a sense of kind of wash over hose as she sort of finishes the last mouthful a carefully sets the tee set down to one side. I thank you both profusely both as she leaves back into the corridor and you hear her descend the steps and outside a car starts and then the engine disappears off into the distance is there anything you would like to do between the office and the high school?

Aoki Cho:

Um, no besides packing my stuff I maybe I have my little knife kit because I'm on a sushi chef and I never part ways with it. Maybe check out some some last prayers and I'm good to go.

Snyders Return:

Okay, so as you do your last sort of loss preparations, getting everything together going down to your own car. You can let me know which one of you drives

Aoki Cho:

I guess since BB is our since Nina is a very high ranking CEO fair somewhere party navigator will also be on call

Snyders Return:

as you make the call as it were and your chauffeur brings the car round. He sort of allows you to enter the vehicle Nina and and nips round to ensure that you can get in the car as well and returns to the front seat. He does lean over and turn to you Nina and same Excuse me, Miss de Silva. We've had some information about some shipments that may need your attention sooner rather than later if, if I may take you to the office

Nina de Silva:

shipments.

Snyders Return:

Yes. Some of the the logging operation that runs out of the docks to go to other destinations may need your attention.

Nina de Silva:

Well, I Well, I Ohk is right next to me. And I just look I see how he's behaving. thoughts like this information? I would say

Aoki Cho:

I am a monk. I'm just calm and plain and there is no really big emotion radiating.

Nina de Silva:

Oh, Java's okay, but make it quick, of

Snyders Return:

course.

Aoki Cho:

Do you want me to go with you? Or do you want me to start looking into

Nina de Silva:

I clearly look at a okay like from top to bottom and like I tried to figure out if he's capable of actually doing a good job of it himself.

Aoki Cho:

I run an entire restaurant by myself.

Nina de Silva:

So that's Amina. It takes a couple of seconds and so then I finally say, I'll be quick. I'll meet you at the school. And I just like literally opened the door lay my driveway as

Snyders Return:

I okay, your feet touch the ground and the door is immediately slammed behind you. Nina's driver, job is pulls the car out from your office building and heads over to the logging company. While Nina's in transit. ioki How is it you progress? Hi, there sorry for the interruption. It's Adam here. Just let you know that we will be showcasing some of our friends across the tabletop role playing community. Links to their shows will be in the description below. Enjoy the promos, get in contact, engage with them engage with us. We'd love to hear from you. And I'm sure so would they. So, quick advert and then straight back to the adventure.

Lovelycraftians:

We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity. And it was not meant that we should voyage far. And yet here we are, in defiance of Lovecraft laughing through the darkness. The lovely crafty ends is an all ladies Call of Cthulhu actual play podcast with horror, humour, and no small amount of chaos set in an occasionally familiar modern day Chicago, brought to you by wampus house productions and the pen which studio network you can find the lovelies on Spotify, Apple podcasts or your favourite pod catcher, or anytime over at lovely crafty and calm. And remember, you never roll sanity alone here.

Aoki Cho:

As the camera kind of shows the car fading into the distance and it we could kind of to the front of me where I stand in front of our building, and a gust of wind kind of appears. And suddenly I'm not there anymore. I have vanished in literary kind of gone with the wind.

Snyders Return:

Indeed, indeed. So as you are lifted and transported. Should we say where do you touch ground again,

Aoki Cho:

I will kind of emerge from a shadowy alley, kind of right next to school or in front of school and I quite simply just step out look at a school and start making my way into the main entrance.

Snyders Return:

As you step out of this shadow, what you see in front of us is still a massive of schoolchildren both milling around the grounds and into and out of the main entrance you kind of there's a hustle and bustle and a few of them are looking at you kind of oddly as this unexpected visitor onto school grounds. Sort of moves up and into the building and and as you enter you can see the rows of lockers you can see doorways into various classrooms, hallways that disappear off, both to the left and the right and a long sort of corridor ahead with the sort of reception type building, reception type room about a third of the way down. You can see brightly coloured banners sort of sports banners down the halls for the City High School. team have various sporting achievements they have on their team. So you are sort of stood in this sea of moving people or high school kids as it as they are.

Aoki Cho:

Quick question before that we kind of forgot to ask the names, I think, from both the mother and the teenager, but I'll guess I'll just roll with that.

Nina de Silva:

Mother is Allison. I forgot the name of the teenager. Okay, the mother's Alison. Okay.

Snyders Return:

Emily Craig.

Aoki Cho:

Oh, yeah. Craig Yeah. Um, well, I move through this crowd of teenagers or just hoard almost a few teenagers with a lot of ease. So I just kind of go swiftly through all these people and can kind of just dodging everybody. And I, I'll go to the reception, and try my luck over there. If there's someone who can attend there is

Snyders Return:

as you approach the reception desk, I sat sort of behind the desk and the glass there. There is a sort of slightly older looking male student, a female student and behind them on a computer just off to one side is a older lady, potentially in a sort of 60s, you could you can hazard a guess. And she is typing away and and the two students in front of you are sort of tapping paperwork into neat piles and putting it to one side is your approach.

Aoki Cho:

I'll go in and say, Please, forgive my interruption, and I go slightly and respectfully. I am looking for someone who can speak to me about some student of your called Emily. Keira.

Snyders Return:

Wow, not really sure we're supposed to talk about students let that let me. Miss Hammond. Miss Hammond, this gentleman is wat on school grounds wants to speak about one of the students. And the male is looking over his shoulder. And the older lady on the computer sort of adjusts her glasses. You can hear a sigh as she sort of shuffles backwards in my chair a little bit. And then sort of Bob still sat on the chair kind of rolls across to where you are. Yes. Do my I help you?

Aoki Cho:

Yes, please. And I bow once more. I am here on behalf family, mother. And I understand that there is a situation with missing students of the school. Is this right?

Snyders Return:

Students come and go sometimes they flit in and out. We tried to guide them and teach them but sometimes they just want to be carefree, dear. I mean, often find them at the local coffee shop and they're supposed to be here in school.

Aoki Cho:

I am sure that you take your roles as masters very seriously, but from my understanding is that those students have been gone a little bit longer. Already a couple of days, as I have been told,

Snyders Return:

well, some students have been out of sorts a little bit since health checkup and blood tests done the other week. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Aoki Cho:

a blood test?

Snyders Return:

Yes.

Aoki Cho:

Do Was there any special reason for doing on some kind of

Snyders Return:

lovely company came in? Was that Ethan using Get me the appointments from from the last couple of weeks for the company. He was determined. And you can see him sort of shuffling paperwork and moving around and the girl who's been sat next to him quite quiet, sort of springs into life. And she says Ethan It's here. It's here. Sorry, I missed I was listening to music. It's there. Ethan, the global genetics thing there. Did you say you were looking for Emily?

Aoki Cho:

Yes, indeed. Do you? Are you a friend of us?

Snyders Return:

Oh, no. of her. From from what I gather she's been hanging out with. Wow. Should we say the cool kids? recently? Oh, watch that boy's name? What's his name? Adam Reynolds that that was his name. That was his name. Isn't it? Have you found that bit of paper yet? Okay, there Sophie. Okay, there

Aoki Cho:

wasn't Emily, more of a quiet girl, one of whom had not have many friends.

Snyders Return:

That that's why it was was interesting to see she was part of the cool kids. Miss Hammond doesn't know what's going on around here half the time. But yeah, Emily, from what I saw across the playground and and in the halls, certainly picks up more of a social group. Very, very recently.

Aoki Cho:

Was this before or after the split test?

Snyders Return:

Oh, I'm not really sure. Ethan, if you got that bit of paper, I'll find it. Here you go. Mystery company. And he hands you up? Or shows to you a headed bit of paper with a series of words, dates, and sort of other bits and pieces on there. Other bits of information? Is this was the company? Yeah. Global genetics.

Aoki Cho:

Interesting. And they just came and did a test and offered to make a test for all the students or was there any reason behind it?

Snyders Return:

And Mrs. haven't sold a button at this point. Oh, they said it was for pre healthcare checkups and blood tests. It's the school wants to ensure the welfare of the children. And so they came to this agreement with with global genetics and and bloods retaken and health checks were done and and then they went away and

Aoki Cho:

most interesting, and there is like a flyer with some some information about the company or is it just

Snyders Return:

kind of a sheet? It's a almost like an invoice kind of thing. I headed headed paper document with more information on it.

Aoki Cho:

Yeah. You said you wanted to tell me what? What was on the paper.

Snyders Return:

So it's a heady page. So it's got the global genetics logo across the top, from a very blatant underneath that slightly obscured by Ethan's hand is a lot more information there appears to be sort of a couple of titles and dates, maybe some names and and other sort of information upon the piece of paper that's sort of obscured by Ethan's hand.

Aoki Cho:

I'll ask him, me a seated paper, please. Or I'll reach and kind of grab the paper

Snyders Return:

as you go to grab it he sort of retract his arm a little bit and looks towards Mrs. Hammond. Give us him a nod. And he sort of carefully releases the the piece of paper into your hand.

Aoki Cho:

Okay, and was what was written where Jason was holding the paper.

Snyders Return:

I want you to roll an investigate for me,

Aoki Cho:

okay. I will use my warriors wisdom power attack. That's kind of all that can help me right now. So it's one power and investigate 13

Snyders Return:

so you need nice. So for 13 you get to ask you might have already ascertained clues equals to the power so in this instance is one so you get to ask a question. And I will give you the information that is relevant.

Aoki Cho:

Okay. What is a good question right now. So this paper is about this one. Company. It is not like a flyer or cat can i before just to clear up it's Is it like a flyer with information about the company? Or is it more some kind of contract or some kind of sheet where where information about what is going to happen? Or is written on just as a baseline for the question.

Snyders Return:

That's, that's perfectly understandable. It's not like a flyer, you could potentially find flyers around other places in the school if you walked further. But this is a heavy piece of paper similar to or that has his contact details across the bottom, it has a statement of intent for one of a better description and sort of justification for their generous offer, shall we say,

Aoki Cho:

then I would very much like to know what this offer was all about.

Snyders Return:

So as usual, to scan and read through this document, it sort of States under there, the large logo in the initial sort of greeting and content details that global genetics is offering to provide free healthcare checks for the students of City High, free of charge to the school as a show of goodwill, in addition to these health checks, rather have trained physicians come in, they will also take some blood samples, which will be taken away to their lab and be analysed for any on known irregularities or illnesses that wouldn't show up with just a cursory scan of the patient. Okay,

Aoki Cho:

so they were maybe looking for something, they were digging a bit deeper than just standard health checks.

Snyders Return:

If you read between the lines, yes.

Aoki Cho:

Okay. I will ask the lady Do you mind if I have a copy of this? I'm

Snyders Return:

not even going for the copy for the for the gentlemen, please. In fact, roll me a I will take a convince, convince

Aoki Cho:

to have anything. That's combat that's mobility there. Okay, I'll just roll without any modifiers that is a miss.

Snyders Return:

So as you ask your question, as polite as it may be, Miss Harmon says, I'm afraid, dear, that's has delicate information for the school on it. And it would be most unprofessional of us to just hand out such information. If you want the address, you can take it off the bottom, but the form stays here.

Aoki Cho:

That is understandable. And thank you. And yeah, I'll take the address from global genetics and I'll turn to the to the girl. And I want to ask her Do you know where it is? As Reynolds? is t also missing? Our or is he around? Maybe so I can just ask him a couple of questions.

Snyders Return:

She says you um wolfies is not in. If he's not in class. He's probably at beans down the road, the coffee shop. So we could wait around the school and see if he pops up or you could check the coffee shop.

Aoki Cho:

I think I'll try my luck searching for him. Thank you very much. You're ready. No, Baba.

Snyders Return:

She goes back to helping ease and square away paper as what are you doing

Aoki Cho:

now? I guess. I'll bow and thank everybody again and I'll leave and maybe take a quick peek around and if there's nothing else to see I'll kind of head to just this this shop
