Chris, in the warm at uh Truxton, it is warm as well, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, nice. Well that you've actually I think this sort of last sort of six, seven weeks. We've all sort of got acclimatised to it now, so yeah, it feels normal actually today. So yeah. Um I've been I've been doing a lot of warm, warm weather training because we've had such good weather. I think it I think it really helps on a day like that, you know. You just you don't you don't feel hot as much as you understand me? So yeah. Yeah, car f car felt pretty good in that session. Happy enough.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting this weekend we've got the medium tire for for qualifying. You you tried out uh both uh compounds in that session, I think, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, I've I've been coming here you know for a long time in this championship, and you always sort of know the way the car is gonna feel whenever because you've always driven on the hard tire. From the first year I've ever been here. We've always ran the hard tire, and that's that's the first time I've ever put the the medium tire on. And yeah, you've you've you've got more grip, you can carry more speed, and that also means you need more confidence. But it's actually known that the car is gonna dig in whenever you want it to dig, you know, it's gonna get get the grip whenever it's there, but yeah, it was um that that that lap felt okay. It felt um I still I still think that there's there's more to be found, you know. I think we've done our first run on the medium tire now. I think once we go again, I think we'll extract a little bit more out of me and the car.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and obviously uh you don't get much out of the medium tie around here because it's so abrasive. So picking the window when you go for your your quick lapping qualifying is gonna be critical, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's lap one or lap two, and that's it. The party's over after then, it's uh it just kind of drops off a cliff. But yeah, I was I was pretty pretty pretty confident out there in the car. That's the first time I've sat in it in seven weeks or six weeks or whatever it is, so yeah, that was alright. How big's the delta between the two compounds? I'm gonna say half a second. Okay. But maybe it's more. Yeah. I'm gonna say half a second, but maybe it's more.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, tank temperature's gonna be increased as well, it's gonna get warmer, that's gotta be factored in.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think if you've looked at it sometimes this year, sometimes the pre-practice session has been faster than the qualifying session, you know, just because there has been so much heat. Um, but yeah, it's gonna be the same for everyone.

SPEAKER_01

You guys are glad to be back at it after the summer break?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've really missed it. Um, you know, obviously we've we've had a lot going on the last six weeks, you know, the the team doesn't turn off as such. Um, you know, with with with two cars that the the guys you know work at them every day. Um there's invoices never stop, you know, the the search for sponsorship never stops. Um it was actually nice to go to the British Grand Prix and forget about racing for a little while. Um, you know, we we we sell cars at home, so thank you thankfully we're very busy in work every day, so that that kind of keeps you focused. But you know, the last sort of six weeks I've been sitting at work every day thinking about turn one, turn two, the complex, the chicken. You know, it's always sitting spinning through your mind. So yeah, you never you never really turn off from it.

SPEAKER_01

Great start to uh to this weekend, Chris. Well done. Let's hope for a uh a good one all weekend. Yeah, cheers, thanks.
