Ash Sutton NAPA Racing UK - Race 1 - Knockhill - 09 August 2026
Well Ash, that's race one uh at Nock Hill. A classic weather, rain thrashed start. Um amazing drive from you, P3 up to P4.
SPEAKER_00Uh what P11 to P4, so yeah, like P3 to four, I was about to say.
SPEAKER_01P11 to P4, you're right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, it's really good. Um I I love this place, full stop, and I love even more in the rain. Um the car was absolutely mega the start of the race. We we had a really strong package. We were able to do a lot of things that others couldn't. Um and obviously the boost is the biggest thing, it's negated a little bit in this weather. So um yeah, meant we had a bit more of a fighting chance. We made the most of it. So nice to obviously get ahead of Tom, have a good scrap with him. Good scrap with a lot of guys, actually. Yeah, I think everyone was fair playing. Um worked our way through and just got outside the top three.
SPEAKER_01Some incredible moves, almost I mean, I somebody behind me said that's a classic Ash Sutton move because you you like the wet, but I mean you were giving no quarter and really going for it.
SPEAKER_00No, you've got them you've got to take the opportunity when it comes, and that was one of them. Like very we don't get often where you feel like you've got a fair chance to fight all of a sudden, and obviously the way the boost is, you've seen how powerful it has been here over the course of the Saturday, how it hindered us and our performance. With that being negated with the wet weather, it's I like the wet full stop. The car was good, I made the most of the whole situation. So yeah, we progressed forward really nicely. Um racing two brings to what the sky does.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a classic touring car race, but more importantly, uh the points in the bag and staying ahead of your nearest rival.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean the points is something I'm not overly stressing about just yet. Um I'm enjoying my racing, I'm enjoying going door to door with everyone and just maximising every opportunity I get. Uh we we do have the conversations about points, of course, but I just want to keep doing what we're doing because it's worked so far.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what's uh what's the intel that you've got on uh the weather for the rest of the day?
SPEAKER_00Uh well I generally thought that was it. I thought it was now going to dry out, but um I just before we you you stuck your head through the door, it was I was then informed that we might have a bit more rain for the rest of the day. So let's see. If it does, it could be another wet race, and then you'll find out all of us on the medium tire. Um come come race free. But yeah, let's see what the sky does.
SPEAKER_01Really cracking drive Ash. I apologise for saying you went from third to fourth when it was in the middle of the road. Oh no, I did go backwards. Cheersly, cheersly.
