I'm so really happy that you're here today. I am seated in a park in Nashville, tennessee, and enjoying the moderate quiet of this place. You know those mornings when you wake up and you're just, you have an idea and then you're led to go in a different direction, to a different park across the city from where I normally go, and I'm so glad I'm here. It's a very different energy in this place than some of the places where I normally go. It's this very light sort of quality to it. It's also a very old quality to it, a place that has been well-loved for a very long time by residents, and I think that's something we can appreciate, and I think that's something we can appreciate. So, yeah, today we're going to practice being in presence in this space.
Speaker 1:What I'd like to do today is read an excerpt from my newest book, the Calm Way, and invite you to explore it for yourself. We'll have the reading and then sit together quietly for about 10, maybe 15 minutes even, and see what happens. See what happens. See what happens as this message, this contemplation unfolds inside of you. So I just opened, rather randomly. Let me just tell you the name of the book is the Calm Way 365 day journey out of the weeds and into the wilds of true inner freedom. And I spent all of last year writing this book, and part of this year as well, and so it's a work of deep love and reflection on my own experience of what I call the calm way. And so let me read day 140 for you.
Speaker 1:Tranquility is one of the deepest levels of calm. It is the infinite blossoming from the inner sanity of staying in your center. Being immovable from your center is not the same as being inflexible. In fact, it requires a lot of flexibility and limberness to stay in the center of your heart, to meet the winds. Look to the trees strong, rooted deeply in the ground, able to sway and bend where they break. This is available to you at all times, all times. And so today, as I'm seated here in the park, surrounded by many trees, many kinds of trees, I'm looking at them and watching their strength, how they've reached up, how they've learned how to stand amidst the winds of life. And, yeah, it's a beautiful place to begin a few minutes of quietly being present to it. So I invite you now to take a good posture, a good position, and join me as we peacefully abide in the presence of the trees, letting tranquility unfold and open to us for further, deeper, more intimate exploration.

They, they sustain us, they take us to a certain level. Sometimes, though, we want to go much deeper into our practices and find out what there is when we go past, you know, that sort of 10, 15, 20 minute mark. What is that? To continually meet yourself in the moment and meet all the layers of yourself. How do you go deeper? And need all the layers of yourself, how do you go deeper?
