#254 - 5 Minute Friday: Progress Over Perfection
Are you a perfectionist? That seemingly positive trait might be the very thing holding you back from reaching your full potential. In this powerful Five-Minute Friday episode, we tackle the paralyzing grip of perfectionism and why the pursuit of flawlessness often becomes our biggest obstacle to success.
We explore the common misconception that you must be an expert before sharing knowledge or taking meaningful action. The reality? Expertise exists on a spectrum. If you're a "three" on the scale, you're perfectly positioned to help those who are at levels one and two. This perspective shift is incredibly liberating—it removes the pressure of needing to be perfect before beginning.
The most successful people aren't those who waited until they felt fully prepared; they're the ones who started before they felt ready and learned through doing. We discuss how different people excel in different areas, creating opportunities for mutual growth and learning. By embracing this mindset, you'll discover that progress builds action, not the other way around.
This episode marks the return of our popular Five-Minute Friday format, designed to give you quick, actionable insights to energize your end of week. The message is clear and urgent: perfection is unattainable, but progress is always within reach. Are you ready to let go of perfect and embrace the power of progress? Listen now, then get out there, take action, and make a difference. Keep clocking in!

Hey, we are here for five-minute Friday, where we give you the insights in less than five minutes. So I want you guys to think about it. Raise your hand or just think about it. Are you a perfectionist? Are you someone that struggles with perfection? Raise your hand, we all are. We all are, but without our ability to overcome perfection, we're going to end up not achieving the dreams we want.
Speaker 0:Because a lot of the time when I talk to clients, what I hear is I like being an expert, then I can share my knowledge. No, we're all on the journey. You need to share your knowledge, no matter where you're at. Because the thing that helped me a lot was realizing that I might be a three at something, but if someone's a two or a one, I can help them on a scale of one to ten. If someone's a nine at something, but if someone's a two or a one, I can help them on a scale of one to 10. If someone's a nine at something, maybe they can help me.
Speaker 0:And you start to realize that there's different areas where different people are better at things and there's different areas where people are worse. So it's how do we consistently improve and how do we get the most out of what we're looking for, because the thing is, if you want to make the most progress, you cannot worry about being perfect. Even this, for example, this was a recording where we ended up having studio time and we had some extra minutes and I thought to myself, how can I optimize that time? I'm gonna do a five minute episode because I enjoyed the five minute podcast and I wanna bring them back. I wanna be doing them more often because it's something that a lot of people like you could digest it really quickly and it kind of gives you that little jolt of energy for your Fridays. So I want to get back into this.
Speaker 0:But the biggest thing for you guys to realize progress over perfection. If you're really having issues with perfection, I want you to think about this. It's this idea that I'm not perfect none of us are and progress is the way to build action. You guys have to start thinking about that. You guys have to start thinking about the way that it's. I'm not perfect, we're all not perfect, and progress builds action. So get out there today, be an action taker and go make a difference. Thank you, and let's keep clocking in.
