Want Respect? Try These Leadership Tricks! #258 - 5 Minute Friday
What does true leadership look like in action? Beyond the fancy titles and corner offices lies the essence of authentic leadership—the daily behaviors and mindsets that allow certain individuals to command respect and inspire others.
This powerful Five Minute Friday breaks down the core elements of genuine leadership into practical, actionable insights. We explore how arriving early demonstrates respect and seriousness, why introducing yourself to everyone in the room isn't just polite but strategic, and how consistently focusing on others rather than yourself builds lasting influence. True leaders understand that providing value first is the foundation of meaningful relationships and sustainable success.
Many people mistakenly believe leadership requires a specific personality type—extroverted, loud, commanding. The reality? Leadership comes in countless forms, including the quiet confidence of those who empower others to speak and share their ideas. The most profound insight might be that we're all leaders already, whether we recognize it or not. It begins with leading your own life effectively, then extends naturally to guiding groups and communities.
Ready to step into your leadership potential? This episode will transform how you show up in every room, meeting, and relationship. Leadership isn't something you're born with or appointed to—it's a choice you make daily by how you treat others and the value you consistently provide. Listen now, then go out there and keep "clocking in" to your leadership journey.

Five Minute Friday we're gonna talk about leadership. What does leadership look like? How do you show up with leadership and how do you command a room? When you show up with leadership? What that means, that's showing up early, that's being one of the people in there Say you have to be somewhere at a certain time. You show up 15 minutes early. Why? Because it shows people that you're serious and you're not gonna waste their time.
Speaker 0:The second thing is you want to go and introduce yourself to everyone. You want to go in and meet everybody because you want to provide them value. You want to get to know them. You want to make sure that they know that they're important. That's what a leader does. And the third thing a leader does is they focus on the other people, not themselves. They're constantly looking at how they can provide value and make them feel a certain way, because then they realize that it's just going to be a better and better relationship. And then the final thing is that we constantly provide value as leaders.
Speaker 0:You think it's like a give and take thing, and it is, but you have to lead with value first, and that's where a lot of this content comes in that. But you have to lead with value first, and that's where a lot of this content comes in. That's where a lot of the podcast comes in, that's where a lot of the stuff happens, where you start to realize, like, how many people have you helped? How many people are you helping? Are you even helping enough people? Are you even helping people or are you just worrying about yourself?
Speaker 0:And it's important for us to realize that to get this world to work in a way like you, have to be a leader. And leaders always don't have to be the loudest, they don't have to be the most outgoing, but they do have to have that little confidence, that helpfulness that I can do this. And even leaders, they're empowerers. They're the people who allow others to speak, to share their mind and their thoughts and their ideas. So I want you to realize this that there's many different types of leaders and you might not identify as one of them, but the truth is that we're all leaders. We just don't know it yet. So once you wake up and you're ready to go, realize that you are a leader, you're leading your own life, then you'll start to lead a group and then you'll start to lead a community. So go out there, be a leader and keep clocking in.
