The 9 PM Advantage! #260 - 5 Minute Friday
Could your bedtime be the ultimate productivity hack you've been missing? In this eye-opening Five Minute Friday, I challenge everything you thought you knew about entrepreneurial hustle culture and late-night work sessions.
Most entrepreneurs pride themselves on burning the midnight oil, working until 2 or 3 AM in pursuit of success. But what if that approach is actually holding you back? Over the past two years, I've discovered the game-changing "9 PM Advantage" – the practice of trading those late-night hours for early morning productivity. This simple shift has completely transformed my effectiveness and wellbeing.
The power of this approach lies in its compound benefits. By establishing a consistent 9 PM bedtime, you not only standardize your sleep schedule but also maximize your deep and REM sleep during optimal recovery hours. The result? By 8 AM, when most people are just dragging themselves out of bed, you've already been operating at peak mental capacity for hours. You've potentially worked out, planned your day, and accomplished meaningful work – all before others have fully woken up.
This isn't just about productivity; it's about competitive advantage. When you recognize that winning your morning actually starts the night before, you gain an edge that compounds day after day. Your thinking becomes clearer, your decisions sharper, and your energy more consistent. I challenge you to try going to bed at 9 PM for 90 days – it might just be the life-changing habit you never knew you needed.

Hey, it's Jordan here with 5 Minute Friday and we're doing the 9 pm advantage. What is the 9 pm advantage? It's something that I realized that most entrepreneurs are hustling to the wee hours of the morning 12, 1, 2, 3 am because they think that they're more productive. I've realized over the past two years that you need to flip the switch. The reason you want to flip the switch is because are you more productive at 9 pm to 11 pm or 4 pm to 6 am? You're going to start to realize that you are winning the day way before everyone else.
Speaker 0:So the biggest thing that happened to me is I started to trade in my hours and this became a real advantage where I trade in those late night hours for morning hours to be more productive.
Speaker 0:And the big realization I had was a few things. One, it allowed me to standardize my sleeping schedule, so I had a going to bedtime and a waking up time that was almost always the same. The second thing that ended up happening is the earlier you get to sleep, the better deep sleep you get. So you start to get into this deep and REM sleep that allows your body to recover, because as you keep the routine going, you end up getting into much better patterns, and this allows you to think better. So by the time 8am comes and everyone's groggy, just rolling out of bed, starting to get to work, you're already operating at a very high level because you might have worked out or won the morning, or whatever that may be, but the only reason you won the morning is because you won the night before. So for me, going to bed at nine has been a game changer. So I challenge all of you guys listening right now and girls, to try going to bed at 9 pm for 90 days and tell me it doesn't change your life, thank you.
