Ready to transform your weekly productivity in just five minutes? Discover the powerful three-part reset system that has revolutionized my approach to work and life.

At the heart of this transformation is the After Action Review (AAR) – a military-inspired reflection technique I learned during a leadership retreat in Utah. Each weekend, I dedicate time to answer three critical questions: What went well? What didn't? How can I improve next time? This simple practice creates consistent iterations that compound over time, generating remarkable results through small, continuous improvements. Most people never experience the full benefits of this approach because they don't perform enough iterations to witness their own development.

The second game-changer involves strategic weekend work – not grinding through entire days, but dedicating 2-3 focused hours on Saturdays and Sundays to your highest priorities. Whether you're learning new skills, tackling operational work, or advancing important projects, these intentional sessions create the mental headspace needed to enter each week with clarity and confidence. The magic isn't just in the additional productive hours; it's in the psychological preparation that eliminates Monday anxiety and creates momentum before the week even begins.

The final component – gratitude – provides the essential foundation for everything else. Taking time to appreciate the opportunity to try, the freedom to pursue your goals, and the gift of being alive transforms your relationship with challenges and setbacks. When combined with reflection and strategic preparation, gratitude creates a powerful framework for sustainable success and fulfillment.

Ready to reset your week? Try implementing these three practices this weekend and experience the difference in your productivity, mindset, and results. Your future self will thank you for the small investments that yield extraordinary returns.

And we are back for another episode of 5-Minute Friday. These are where we give you a daily dose of energy, expertise and insights, and today we're going to talk about the reset that changed my life and my week. So, first things first we're going to discuss is week in reviews, so AARs, and we're going to dive into that. Then we're going to talk about working weekends and then we're going to talk about gratitude, and this is all going to be done in five minutes. So get ready for the insights. So what is an AAR? It's an after action review plan. And what does that mean?

Speaker 0:

After each week, I would sit there and I would ask myself what went well, what didn't go well and how can I implement this for next time. I actually learned this when I was at a leadership retreat in Utah, and the military does it and a lot of people do it, but the problem is that we don't do enough iterations for ourselves, so we don't see when we're actually making development and progress towards our goals. So if we reflect on each week hey, what was the highlight, what was the down point Then you would start to iterate that so that you have more and more up points than more and more down points. So I think that's a super important one. The second one is work weekends. What do I mean by that? That means on Saturday morning, sunday, you don't have to work the entire day. But I think if you start to sit there and think about what is the most important thing you want to accomplish, and let's say, maybe it's learning a new skill, maybe it's doing deals, maybe it's operational work, it can be anything.

Speaker 0:

But I think working weekends allows you to get a proper framework so you have a proper headspace, so that when you go into the week you feel very comfortable and ready to take on the activities that you're going to take on. So I usually work a little bit, maybe two or three hours on Saturday, two or three hours on Sunday, and it gives you some time to get into the headspace so that you're ready to take on the week. And then the last thing I want to end with is gratitude. Why gratitude? Gratitude because you have to be grateful that you still have the opportunity to even try. You have to be grateful that you live in a country where you can make this a possibility, and you have to be grateful that you're still alive. So these are all real, real things. So this is the reset that changed my mind. We talked about the weekend review, we talked about working weekends and we talked about gratitude. Thank you,
