5 Minute Friday - Five Senses, One Present Moment
When life blurs into one long multitask, presence can feel like a luxury. We offer a human, doable way back: a five-senses gratitude practice that anchors attention in what you can actually feel and notice right now. No jargon, no fluff—just practical steps and real examples that help your mind settle and your body exhale.
We start with the problem so many of us face: work, family, and friends all competing for the same mental space. Then we map a straightforward framework—vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch—that you can run anywhere. Think sunsets that widen your breath, a child’s voice that lifts your mood, the kitchen smells that take you home, a bite that slows you down, and the grounding of a hand held or a pet’s calm weight. Each sense becomes a doorway to presence, and the more specific you get, the faster you arrive.
You’ll hear simple prompts to create your own five, plus ways to use them during transitions: before a meeting, walking into your house, or winding down at night. We share why sensory detail works on the nervous system, how it interrupts rumination, and how a 60‑second practice can make your day feel more spacious. If you’re craving less noise and more clarity, this approach meets you where you are and gives you control over your focus without adding another heavy routine.
Try it today: list one thing you’re grateful for in each sense and watch your attention click into place. If you want to go deeper, DM us and grab the Calendly link in the caption to book a call. And if this helped, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a quick review to let us know what landed for you.

Hey, it's Jordan here for Five Minute Friday. And one of the things, and I run a coaching group, and one of the things I notice with a lot of the people in the group is that we try trouble with presence. What I mean by that is we have our work life, we have our family life, we have friends, and we try to mesh all of these in between. And it's so hard for us to get present. It's so challenging for us to be present in that moment in where we're at at that time. So, how do I do this? I recently had a meeting with a group, and what I told them was everyone come to me with things they're grateful for for the five senses. So we have the vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. And I asked them to come up with something they're grateful for for each of these moments in their life. So let's start start with vision. Vision can be seeing the sunset, seeing the sunset over the ocean, seeing the sunset over the ocean in Thailand, whatever the vision is for you, then hearing. Some people said hearing is when they get to hear their family members. One of them even mentioned hearing their son's voice really brings a lot of joy to them. Some people talked about smell, and they talked about smelling of the kitchen when they were a child and hearing their family and friends and everyone there and enjoying those moments together. And then there's taste, which is like when you're tasting the food and you're at an amazing event, or it's the ability to taste just to realize that you can have different types of meals. And the last one is touch. And some people said it was holding their child's hand or petting their animal that they had growing up. It can be whatever you want. But since you're listening right now, I'm asking you to find out what is your five pill, what is your five senses of gratitude, what makes you grateful for each of these moments? And once you start to sit there and think about it, it'll bring you the presence that you're looking for in this moment and at that time. So if you guys ever want to dive deeper, you can DM me. I'll put a Calendly link in the in the caption so you can book a call with me. And I'd love to talk to you and uh tell you a little bit more about the group. So I really appreciate the time and I look forward to you having an incredible weekend. Thank you.
