Ready rarely arrives on schedule. We talk about why waiting for perfect kills momentum and how to replace it with simple, repeatable steps that actually move your goals forward. Imperfect action isn’t about being careless—it’s about starting small, learning fast, and stacking wins until progress becomes your default.

We break down the core mindset shift that separates stalled plans from steady motion: perfectionism protects your ego but starves your outcomes. Using a child learning to walk as a clear model, we show how quick attempts and visible feedback build skill faster than overthinking ever could. You’ll hear practical ways to reframe failure as data, not verdict, so you can iterate without the drag of fear or shame. Then we bring it down to earth with the two-minute rule—micro-actions like reading one page or lacing your gym shoes—that lower resistance and create daily traction.

By the end, you’ll have a simple framework to choose one small action, anchor it to your routine, and protect momentum even on busy days. Expect clear prompts, relatable examples, and a reminder that nobody regrets the action they took—only the action they delayed. If this helped you move, tap follow, share it with a friend who’s stuck on “perfect,” and leave a quick review to tell us your two-minute habit.

SPEAKER_00:

Hey, it's Jordan Edwards here, and we're here for Five Minute Friday. And the thing I want to discuss with you today is imperfect action. When was the last time you took imperfect action? Most of us think that we're perfectionists, and we think that that's a good thing. But in the real world and in business and life, that is one of the things that is gonna hurt us the most. Because what happens when you're a perfectionist? You forget to take action. Because let me give you a little hint. Nothing is ever perfect. So what I wanted you to do, and what we're gonna discuss today, is how you can start to take action today and how you can get to closer to your goals. So the thing we're gonna do is we're gonna discuss about imperfect action. What is it? It's taking action before you feel ready. It's taking action before you know everything, and it's taking action when you are able to do this. So the truth is that a lot of us think that when we start a new thing or we do a new challenge, that we need to be perfect. And the truth is that's not true. There are many times in our life where we've taken imperfect action, but society has stopped us from taking that. An example, a one-year-old child does not sit there and think they can't stand up. They try their best to stand up and they don't wait till it's perfect and they can just walk perfectly. We know that because we can all walk. We've done that. So the problem is that in the school system, they've taught everyone that failure is a bad thing. And I want to remove that. Failure is a good thing because the more you fail, the more you learn. And that is the closer thing you're gonna get to your goal. So I want you to start to take imperfect action and stop waiting. There's no reason to wait, there's no reason to hold up, there's no reason to do anything. Yes, get intentional, but I want you to take action on your goals because the biggest thing that you're gonna regret listening to this today, listening to this in a year, listening to this in five years, is the action you didn't take. No one ever gets upset about the action they took. So commit today, take action on one thing and set it up inside of the two-minute rule. Meaning, if you want to start to develop the habit of reading, read two minutes of reading each day. If you want to start going to the gym, put on your gym shoes each day. Do the little things that will start to develop you and get you into action. You don't have to do the big thing. You don't have to read an entire book. You don't have to go to the gym for eight hours. Do the little things that will get you closer to your goals. This is Jordan with Edwards Consulting, and like I promised, five minute Friday.
