5 Minute Friday: Stop Waiting, Start Moving
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Ever notice how waiting for permission quietly steals your best ideas? We unpack why no one is coming to save you—and why that’s the best news you’ll hear today. With a fast, focused riff on self-reliance, we share how a single, firm decision can create momentum that planning alone never will. From booking a solo trip to launching a business to finally asking someone out, this is a playbook for making the first move and letting action teach you what preparation can’t.
I share real moments when choosing first opened doors: moving for school, cross-country travel, and the simple shift from “Can I?” to “I’m doing this—want to join?” You’ll hear why asking for forgiveness instead of permission is not recklessness but agency, how to avoid the trap of endless negotiation with friends and family, and how clarity strengthens once you commit. We talk through the emotional mechanics of hesitation—fear of judgment, fear of failure, fear of misalignment—and how to cut through them with small, bold steps that stack into confidence.
If you’re tired of stalled dreams and crowded calendars that never quite make space for what matters, this short episode is your spark. You’ll leave with three direct prompts to break the stall, a simple framework to schedule the first step within 24 hours, and a reminder of what freedom really means: doing what you want, where you want, with whom you want. If this moved you to act today, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a quick review—what’s the one choice you’re committing to right now?

Five Minute Friday Kickoff
SPEAKER_00Hey, what's up? It's Jordan Edwards and it's five minute Friday. No one is coming to save you. And that's a gift. Because what is it? We're waiting for permission. When we wait for permission, it keeps people stuck. It keeps us stuck. And the truth is, it's better to ask for forgiveness than plead permission. And the reason I say this is because your self-reliance is going to create your freedom in your life. Anytime I've ever had anything amazing in my life happen, which was when I decided to go somewhere different for school that wasn't in my state, when I ended up traveling around the United States for eight months, when I went to Europe for seven weeks twice, when I asked my wife, now wife to go on the trip with me, these were all things where I just, I just asked if I didn't ask for permission. I just said, Do you want like we're I'm doing this? This is what's happening. And I've realized that when you set that in your mind of I'm doing this, this is gonna happen. There's nothing more powerful in this world. There really is. There really isn't. Because when you stop waiting on everybody else, stop waiting on your friends to go to the dinner and to go to the show, stop waiting on your family to book the vacation, just go on the solo trip, go do the thing, go do whatever you want because that's when your momentum will start to begin. When you end up finding out about yourself and what you end up enjoying about yourself and you end up wanting to do with yourself, you will be able to accomplish whatever you desire. So I ask you, what are you waiting on? Why are you waiting? Who are you waiting for? And just commit, commit, commit. Go create the memories, go start the business, go ask the girl out, go ask the boy out, quit the job, do the thing, stop waiting and go start building your life. Go start building the life you want. You don't require anyone's permission. You can do what you want when you want, where you want, with who you want. That's what freedom is. So go out there and start creating your freedom on this five minute Friday. Thank you and have an incredible, incredible day. Thank you.
