You can’t build a better life with a mindset that keeps handing the steering wheel to someone else. Jordan Edwards delivers a fast, direct Five Minute Friday on extreme ownership, the kind of personal accountability that changes how you handle money stress, body goals, and strained relationships. If your inner loop sounds like “Why is rent so high?” “Why am I low on money?” “Why am I overweight?” or “Why does no one want to talk to me?” this is the reset that turns those questions into action.

We dig into a hard but freeing idea: your results are shaped by what you do, not what you wish other people would do. And it’s not just about taking responsibility when things go wrong. Jordan makes the case that if you’re thriving financially, feeling strong and healthy, or enjoying a solid marriage and friendships, you should own that too, because it proves you can create repeatable outcomes. This episode is all about self-leadership, agency, and choosing the next right step instead of waiting for perfect conditions.

Jordan also shares the influence behind the message, Jocko Willink’s book “Extreme Ownership,” and connects it to everyday leadership. When you raise your standards and show up more authentically, the people around you notice and often rise with you. If you want a simple principle that cuts through blame and creates momentum, press play. Then share it with someone who needs a push, subscribe for more, and leave a review with the one area of your life you’re choosing to own next.

Five Minute Friday Kickoff

SPEAKER_00

What's up? It's Jordan Edwards and we're here for Five Minute Friday. And

What Extreme Ownership Means

SPEAKER_00

what I'm gonna pour into you today about is extreme ownership. I want you to up level the way you take care of your life, the way you see your life, the way you think about your life. Because

Stop Asking Why Start Owning

SPEAKER_00

if you're sitting on this and you're thinking to yourself, what why am I not having the resources I want? Why am I low on money? Why is the rent so high? Why can't I why am I overweight? Why does no one want to talk to me? If you're asking yourself any of these questions, you have to take complete ownership of your life.

Accountability For Wins And Losses

SPEAKER_00

If you're also doing really well financially, in great shape, have a healthy marriage, healthy relationships, you also got to take full accountability for that. Because the biggest truth is, the biggest lie that we're told is that our life is based on others. If you live in America, your life is based on you. It is your fault whether you make it or not. There are so many people that are doing that because it is possible. You can create whatever type of life you want. And I want you to realize that it's all in your control. You are the decider of your life.

Lessons From Jocko Willink’s Book

SPEAKER_00

And there was a book I read. It was called Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willock. And he basically talked about this concept. He talked about how he took full accountability for not only his own life, but the people around him, the others in his life. And that changed everything for him because that forced him to not only take a very high level of accountability, but now it's his accountability to everyone. And when you're at that high of a level, you start to realize that the things you do don't matter. The things you do are all that matters. Because it's the only thing you're doing is everybody else is seeing what you're doing and they're trying to keep up. So when you start to up level your accountability, when you start to show up more authentically, when you start to do the things that you need to do, you're gonna reach that next level. So whenever you're struggling or whenever you're challenged or whenever you're not sure what to do, take extreme ownership. Take full accountability. Don't blame anyone else. Blame yourself and get started with that today. If you need help with any of this, I'd love to talk to you. Email me at jordan at edwards.consulting or my Instagram is
