Alisa Stamps, MSS, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Philadelphia. She specializes in working with adult children of narcissists, and runs a support and recovery group for these individuals entitled, “Shattering the Mirror”. She also has experience in the treatment of eating disorders and complex trauma. Alisa’s post-graduate work has included a three -year Gestalt Therapy training program, Level 1 certification in Internal Family Systems Therapy, Level 1 certification in Dr. McBride’s five-step recovery model for treating adult children of narcissistic parents, as well as training in somatic and embodiment work. Alisa received a Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a vocal music director and professional actress for many years. She then went on to receive her Master of Social Service degree from Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. She also recently released a book this past summer called The Gaslighting Recovery Journal and has started a YouTube channel focused on psycho education around these topics.
Alisa Stamps, an expert specializing in the topics of children of narcissistic parents and eating disorders, joins Laurel for a conversation about her work. They discuss common signifiers of narcissistic traits in relationships, how and why the topics of narcissism and disordered eating intersect, and the implications of this understanding on clinical work. They also discuss how to work on reframing our relationships with food and movement, and share an update on Alisa’s new book, “The Gaslighting Recovery Journal.”
