Richard Douglas Harries, (Lord) Baron Harries of Pentregarth, is the former  Bishop of Oxford and Dean of King's College London.

Harries has been a consultant to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York on inter-faith relations. 

He became a founder member of the Oxford Abrahamic Group, bringing together Christian, Muslim, and Jewish scholars. He chaired the Council of Christians and Jews from 1992 until 2001.

Harries has been a regular contributor to the BBC Radio 4 Today programme since 1972. In fact, he is one of the most internationally recognised voices on Thought For The Day.

The author of 26 books, Harries’  main focus is on the interface between Christian faith and wider culture including the arts, ethics and politics.
