Welcome to Storytelling. This week's guest is a singer and songwriter whose latest song is called I'm a Fool. Please welcome Clarissa Felix.

How could I have been so blind to think that you'd love me for my mind? You don't at all and it feels like the first time I've been in love and you tell my heart to peace to peace from above. Well, you and I will never meant to be what kind of to think you could be everything and see.

Clarissa, such a beautiful song I'm a fool. Can you tell me your inspiration behind the song?

Sure. There was a person in mind, actually a couple of people in mind. And let's just say that the particular relationship we had didn't go as planned. But it was definitely a source of inspiration for the song and a creative way to express it, as well as an artistic twist, which also painted a an imaginary scenario, but the source was very much from a personal situation and transforming it into something creative.

I think it's a very creative way to express your emotions, and you do it so beautifully with such a unique sound. Thank you. Can you explain to us your musical journey to date?

Definitely, my my mother's influence is a huge part of the reasons to why I do music. I sang before I spoke. That's what my mum said. I was a wee baby in the pushchair. She remembers arriving home and thinking, gosh, is somebody around? There's one of my sisters at home. This is so strange. I can hear some sort of sound. It was me ooing a particular song, a song by Diana Ross, actually, called Missing You. And I was just singing the oo part of that song. And uh she looked around, realised it wasn't anybody else that saw me smiling in the push chair. So it was a rather surreal moment, I think. And then I spoke after that, but that was my first sort of sound, so to speak. So I've always loved music from the very beginning for as long as I can remember and been so connected to music and so curious about it. And the great thing is that my mum has a whole load of music in our house. So I would listen to classical. We had, you know, Rick Maninoff and Tchaikovsky and Bach and all of the wonderful composers. So I'd you know go through that. And then also my mum had a lot of music by the three tenors, and Pavarotti was my favourite. So I'd listen to that too, and then Freddie Mercury and Whitney Easton, Mariah Carey, Elvis Presley, Jackie Wilson, who I loved, um, Marvin Gay, Beverly Craven, and everything that was in the pop charts. So all of the boy bands, girl bands, and Michael Jackson is a huge, uh one really huge influence on my on my life. Stevie Wonder, I mean, there are countless artists, but I always listened to the music and and sung it, and I like to dance too. It was innate and just exciting. I've never really had to think about it. It just occurs really naturally and it's joyous to hear, to experience from an audience's perspective, even as a kid.

And you play musical instruments as well, don't you? You play the piano and the violin.

Yes, I played the violin and the piano when I was we, I could say, and I still play the piano now, and I play by ear and definitely use it in composition. I'm in the middle of working on my EP, which I'm really excited. So that's going to be my first formal original piece of music outside of YouTube and on SoundCloud.

But I think that's absolutely amazing because when you hear something that's really raw and natural, it literally transports you to another musical realm. That's what your music does, and I think it deserves the exposure that it needs. How would you personally describe your music?
SPEAKER_02
I describe it as an expression of me and my creativity. I suppose you could say soul, jazz, RB. I don't think it's exclusively that. Maybe a little bit of indie with some of what I'm writing. Yes, I'd sort of put it in that genre if I had to categorize it.

And is there a musician that you would like to collaborate with in the future?
SPEAKER_01
I would love to collaborate with Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Lilo Reggie.

You know, I would have put you with Corinne Brady, right? Because you both have that similar soulness.
SPEAKER_02
That's a real compliment. That really is. So many. Just any musician who's, I think, passionate about music, loves it and is yeah, really great in their expression of music, and uh that would excite me.

Clarissa, tell us more about your performances, as I understand that you have a special guitarist that you like to perform with.
SPEAKER_02
Yes, there's a guitarist who I've been really happy to collaborate with for several years actually during my um performances. And he's a brilliant uh guitarist, so he has brilliant at classical guitar, as well as you know, any any sort of pop genre, uh jazz, rock, soul, you know, heavy metal, any um any of it. He's really skilled in so many different areas. So it's been really fun to collaborate with him, and we have been collaborating for several years, um, as well as I've performed with bands before and pianists and um other musicians as well. So this is at the moment I have been most consistently performing with a guitarist, um, acoustic performances, which are so much fun. I feel I'm just at the beginning of my musical career in terms of where I'm going and the journey that I I want to go on musically and and the people I'd love to meet and collaborate with and in terms of my records.
