The FNB Wines2Whales is the most iconic 3 day mountain biking stage race in the Western Cape. The route traditionally makes its way from the Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West through Grabouw and the Paul Cluver / Oak Valley wine estates to finish in Onrus. This year is the first ever SwitchBack edition, reversing the route and incorporating a host of new trails!
J-Dogg sits down with Sulli (who is currently racing the event with him) and our special guest Johan Kriegler, the founder of the event, to talk about it’s inception, evolution, and future. With the SwitchBack has also come the first year of E-Bike racing at the Wines2Whales, or any South African stage race for that matter! Johan, or JK as he is known, shares about his own cycling journey, finding the W2W route, getting the event off the ground, starting Cape Trails, and now the future of E-Bike Racing!
