Everyone is searching for something…significance, identity, security, belonging, love. Sometimes we look for something, and we have difficulty articulating what that something is. John understands that search. He launches his Gospel by claiming that the deepest longings of every heart find their satisfaction only in Jesus because there is no one else like him. Jesus shows us just how far God would go to bridge the gap between us and him. Jesus shows us exactly who God is because he is God, and Jesus shows us the way to new life because he is also human. This weekend, we begin to explore how God came near to us.
