Your life is already telling you what matters most and it’s doing it through your attention. If you’ve been feeling scattered, stuck, or quietly judging yourself for where you are, I’m sharing a simple mindfulness-based reset that brings you back to clarity fast.
I walk through two concise questions I use as a life coach to help clients build real self-awareness without spiraling: What are you giving your attention to? And what are you making it mean about you? We look at how your calendar can reveal your true priorities, and how your mental “background tabs” can be just as loud as your schedule. Work, kids, relationships, divorce, a career change, fitness, mental health, friendships, building a business, all of it comes with a story, and that story shapes your mindset more than the circumstance itself.
Then we get practical about mindset management: beliefs are thoughts you repeat, and those repeated sentences quietly drive your confidence, your choices, and your definition of success. Sometimes you’re even pursuing something positive while a limiting belief underneath is beating you up. I’ll show you how to notice that pattern with awareness without judgment, and how to rewrite the meaning so it actually supports spiritual alignment and authentic action. If you don’t like what you find, we keep it simple with one next best step.

SPEAKER_00Hello, hello, hello, and welcome back to another episode of Believe Like a Boss. I am your host, life coach, Nandi Camille. All right, my friends, this week, I'm keeping it short and simple, but I say that and it reminds me of when I send voice memos to my sister, she and I will go back and forth and be like, I think this is gonna be a quick one. And then we end up talking 20 minutes later. So this is intended to be a shorter podcast episode with two really concise questions, and then I'm gonna go through a variety of different
Mindfulness Means No Self Judgment
SPEAKER_00examples. And this is a theme as a mindfulness-based life coach, mindfulness is awareness without judgment. This episode is really meant to help you be aware, help you to expand your awareness without judgment, because our awareness helps us to understand where we are. From there, when we can lovingly see where we are and lovingly honor where we are, even if it if we're in a space where we don't want to be, that's where we can create change. I'm forgetting who is credited with this quote or if it's a Chinese proverb, but the quote goes something to the effect of it is curious that when I accept myself fully, then I can change. I might be butchering that here or there, but the premise of that quote is that when we accept ourselves as we are, that is, when we speak truth, speak truthfully about where we are in life and how we feel about that, from that place, then we can create actual authentic
What Gets Your Attention Right Now
SPEAKER_00change. So the questions that I have for you all today. Number one, what are you giving your attention to? There's gonna be two-part question. First part is, what are you giving your attention to? Just a regular check-in question. What is it that right now in this season of life you are focusing on? Is it that you feel like, and it might be multiple things. It usually is multiple things for most of us, right? Are you focusing on having a career change right now? Are you focusing on the divorce that you're going through? Are you focusing on the new relationship that you've started? Are you focusing on your kids right now? Because it feels better right now to focus on my kids, focused on them and their education and their hobbies. Are you focused on starting a business? Are you focused on dot dot dot? What are you focused on? And I say a lot of those things that I've just mentioned because those are common things that I'm working on with clients, but it could be a variety of things. Maybe you're focused on a parent that isn't doing well, maybe you're focused on a sibling that you are at odds with, or you're focused on a sibling that you've recently rekindled with that maybe for a really long time you all felt like you were on different islands and could never be on the same page, and now you're actually starting to get on the same page and you're focusing on that. That is part one of the question. What are you giving your attention to? What is it that you're giving your attention to? Another easy way to think about this is or easy way to go about this is open up your planner, open up your calendar. Take a look at the things that you have in your planner on your calendar. That is what you are giving your attention to.
The Meaning You Attach To It
SPEAKER_00Now, second part for this is what are you making it mean about you? Now, this second question can be broken down two different ways. What are you making it mean can be its own question, or extended, what are you making it mean about you? So again, our two-part question today is what are you giving your attention to? You look at your calendar, I'm giving my attention to full-time work, my children's extracurriculars, and finishing this book that I'm really excited about. I'm not giving my attention to dating right now, I'm not giving my attention to building my business or really even growing within the ranks. I'm giving my attention to having a really lovely day to day in my full-time work, and then when I'm not at work supporting my children and finishing this book, that's what I'm giving my attention to, right? That might be what's true for you. You pause and decide what is actually true from you. But then from that place, what are you making it mean? What are you making it mean about you? For the person that may have answered, I'm giving my attention to work, my children, and this book. What am I making it mean about me? Well, when I give my attention to this work, I'm making it mean that I'm a professional that loves doing work in the field of blank. I really enjoy working with my coworkers and bringing home X amount to pay for my home and my children's extracurricular activities. When I'm giving my attention to my children's extracurricular activities, I'm making it mean that I'm a good mom, one that wants to be active in their life and support the things that they're interested in. When I'm giving my attention to a book, I'm making it mean that I am a person that cares about their education, growing, being a mindful and aware human being. Do you see what I'm doing here? Right. I understand that this can be tedious. And I think that that's why mindfulness, the work of therapy, the work of coaching can be something that we are not always gravitating towards because there is work involved in order to create change, in order to even be self-aware, requires a level of effort. So we have to pause and decide do I want to spend the five, 10, 15 minutes of effort that it's going to take for me to check in what is it that I'm giving my attention to and what am I making it mean about myself? The reason why I love to do this exercise is because sometimes often we have subconscious limiting beliefs or subconscious beliefs, sometimes they're limiting, sometimes they're not, right? Our subconscious beliefs are not just all limiting beliefs that are all on our subconscious, but some of them are limiting, some of them are not. And so doing this check-in gives us a moment to see what's going on in our brain. If I'm giving
Spot And Rewrite Limiting Beliefs
SPEAKER_00my attention to getting this raise, what am I making it mean about me? If I'm giving my attention to mediation and counseling so that I don't have to get a divorce, what am I making it mean about me? It's such a good opportunity for us to check in what are the words in our brain? What are the sentences in our brain? Because again, a belief is just a thought that we think again and again. A thought is simply a sentence in our brain. And so this activity gives us a chance to check in what are the sentences in my brain? What am I making it mean that I'm spending this time with my friends? What am I making it mean that I'm giving my attention to, building friendships? What am I making it mean about me that dot, dot, dot? Because sometimes we might be doing something positive. I'm giving my attention to making friends, but then we might have a limiting subconscious negative belief. I'm making it mean, what am I making it mean about me that I'm trying to make friends right now? I'm making it mean that I'm a loser and that I don't have any friends and that everybody's always hurt me. So now at this age, I'm having to start again. Sometimes, even when we're going for something positive, we might have a negative subconscious limiting belief that is powering our want, our desire. And so the check-in there is to rewrite it. If we're beating ourselves up about making friends, even though we want to make friends, that's an opportunity for us to check in. Maybe I don't have to beat myself up about making friends. So what? Some of my other friendships didn't work out. So what? I'm this age now making new friends. I can make it mean something positive. I can make it mean that I care about people and I'm so excited to align with people who also care about me. That thought might serve you more than making it mean that I'm behind and that's why I need to make friends now. Or I don't have anybody to come to my 45th birthday party, I realize, and now I need to make friends, right? So again, this gives us an opportunity to check in what is fueling our desire, what is the the energy behind our version, our definition of success, who is fueling that definition? What are we making it mean about ourselves, about the things we are giving our attention to?
Next Best Step And Better Reasons
SPEAKER_00If you don't like what you're giving your attention to, it's a great check-in. Oh, I'm giving my attention to this and this and this, and I don't actually want to. Or I used to want to and now I don't anymore. Or I notice as I'm writing down all the things that I'm giving attention to, or I'm looking at my planner, noticing all the things I'm giving attention to, I want to be giving attention to my physical fitness, but I'm not. I want to be giving attention to my mental health, but I'm not. I want to be giving attention to X, Y, and Z. So again, this is just a great check-in. What is it that you're giving attention to? Check in. Do you like what you're giving attention to? If you don't, that's okay. What next best step might you take? Just next best step, right? And then what are you making it mean about you? All of the things that you're giving attention to. What is your why essentially, right? Why are you giving attention to these things? And do you like your reason why you're giving attention to these things? If you don't like your reason, you can either rewrite the reason or you can change the thing. You can decide, you know what? I don't like my reason, and I don't want to do this thing anymore. I don't want to give attention to this thing anymore because guess what? I checked in. So again, your questions are what are you giving your attention to? Check in. Awareness without judgment. Look at your planner, look at your calendar. What are you actually giving attention to? And then also check in mentally. Sometimes we don't write down the things that are spinning around our brain all day long. You might have appointments in your calendar, but what you're thinking about all day long is your ex-boyfriend, right? That's what you're giving attention to. Check in. What are you giving your attention to? And what are you making it mean about you? Don't judge yourself, just notice. As always, my friends, take what sticks to you, leave the rest. I'll see you next week.
