Got back into my book that I’m trying to read every day… it’s been a few days where I haven’t kept that promise to myself, but yesterday’s reading was BIG! The book is “Areté” by Brian Johnson and it’s all about being our best. This particular lesson was about 3 Forms of Discipline. He gets this from a guy named Phil Stutz. There is “reactive discipline” where we are triggered by something happening and we choose our form of discipline at that moment. There is also “structural discipline” which is all about our every day habits that keep us going in our choices that we make. Finally, there is “expansive discipline” which is the most challenging of the three. This is the one that really ties into the fact that we have a choice in EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of our lives. If we are looking to become our best, we need to have more moments where we say to ourselves, “bring it on” to having challenging things to deal with and grow from. It comes down to choosing to keep learning and keep growing where we can keep getting better. All three of these help make us who we are along with who we are becoming and the direction to where we are going in our lives. Great stuff!! Thanks for listening.
