Luisa writes,

This morning, after I had gone through most bitter days, blessed Jesus came and spent time with me intimately, so much so, that I thought I would possess Him forever. But all of a sudden, He disappeared like a flash. Who can say my pain? I felt I was going insane; more so, since I was almost sure that I was not going to lose Him any more. Now, while I was being consumed with pains, He came back like a flash, and with sonorous and serious voice He told me: “Who are you to expect to be always with Me?” And I, insane as I was, all daring, answered: ‘I am everything while being with You; I feel I am nothing but a will come out of the womb of my Creator, and as long as this will is united with You, it feels life, existence, peace, all of its good. Without You I feel it without life, I feel I am being destroyed, I feel dispersed, restless. I can say I experience all evils, and in order to have life, and so that I may not be dispersed, this will that came out from You looks for your womb, your center, and there it wants to remain forever.’ Jesus seemed to be all moved, but then He repeated again: “But who are you?” And I: ‘Lord, I am nothing but a drop of water, and as long as this drop of water is in your sea, it seems to it that it is the whole sea. If it does not go out of the sea, it remains clean and clear, in such a way as to be able to stand the comparison with other waters. But if it goes out of the sea, it will become muddy, and because of its littleness, it will be dispersed.’ All moved, He bent down toward me, and embracing me, told me: “My daughter, one who wants to be always in my Will keeps my very Person within himself; and even if he can go out of my Will since I created him free in his will, my power operates a prodigy by administering to him, continuously, the participation in divine life. Because of this participation he receives, he feels such strength and attraction of union with my Divine Will, that even if he wanted to go out of It, he could not do it. This is the continuous virtue that comes out of Me toward one who always does my Will about which I spoke to you the other day.”

Welcome. This is David Russell and Your Faith Anew, Daily Reflections Guiding You to Live in the Divine Will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, March twenty fourth, nineteen oh three, volume five. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Heavenly Father, in your divine will you have created us to live in union with you. Draw us into your life, that we may never depart from your presence, but remain as a drop within your infinite sea. May we find in you our life, our peace, and our all. Amen. Jesus says in the Gospel of Saint John, chapter fifteen, verse four. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in paragraph nineteen ninety seven. Grace is a participation in the life of God. It introduces us into the intimacy of the Trinitarian life. This participation is the very reality Jesus describes in today's reading. An ongoing sharing in divine life that draws the soul into union with him. Louisa writes. So much so that I thought I would possess him forever. But all of a sudden, he disappeared like a flash. Who can say my pain? I felt I was going insane. More so, since I was almost sure that I was not going to lose him anymore. Now, while I was being consumed with pains, he came back like a flash, and with sonorious and serious voice he told me, Who are you to expect to be always with me? And I, in sayings I was, all daring, answered, I am everything while being with you. I feel I am nothing but a will come out of the womb of my Creator. And as long as this will is united with you, it feels life, existence, peace, all of its good. Without you I feel it without life. I feel I'm being destroyed. I feel dispersed, restless. I can say I experience all evils, and in order to have life, and so that I may not be dispersed, this will that came out from you looks for your womb, your center, and there it wants to remain forever. Jesus seemed to be all moved, but then he repeated again, but who are you? And I Lord, I am nothing but a drop of water, and as long as this drop of water is in your sea, it seems to it that it is the whole sea. If it does not go out of the sea, it remains clean and clear in such a way as to be able to stand the comparison with other waters. But if it goes out of the sea it becomes muddy, and because of its littleness it will be dispersed. All moved, he bent down toward me and embracing me, told me, My daughter, one who wants to be always in my will keeps my very person within himself. And even if he can go out of my will, since I created him free in his will, my power operates a prodigy by administering to him continuously the participation in divine life. Because of this participation he receives, he feels such strength and attraction of union with my divine will that even if he wanted to go out of it, he could not do it. This is the continuous virtue that comes out of me toward one who always does my will, about which I spoke to you the other day. This passage reveals the profound identity of the soul in the divine will. Without God we are scattered, restless, and without life. But united with Him, we become what we were created to be, alive, whole, and at peace. The image of the drop in the sea is essential. The drop does not lose its identity, but finds its fulfillment in union. So too, when we enter the divine will, we do not cease to be ourselves, we become fully ourselves in God. Jesus teaches that this union is sustained not merely by our effort, but by his continuous action. He administers a constant participation in divine life. This is grace in its deepest expression, not occasional, but continuous. When we choose his will again and again, something changes within us. A divine attraction begins to form. The soul becomes so accustomed to living in God that separation becomes unbearable. This is the goal of the spiritual life, not simply to avoid sin, but to live immersed in God, like a drop in the infinite sea. In this union we find stability, clarity, and peace. Outside of it, confusion and dispersion take hold. Today we are invited to return to that center, to the womb from which our will came forth, and remain there, united with him in all things. Let us pray. My Jesus, I am nothing but a drop from your infinite being. Without you, I'm lost and scattered, but in you I find life and peace. Draw me into your divine will. Let me remain always within your sea, never departing, never seeking life outside of you. Administer to my soul that continuous participation in your divine life. Strengthen in me that attraction to your will, that I may no longer desire anything apart from you. Keep me united to you in every thought, every word, and every action, so that my life may become one with yours. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. Remain in him as the drop remains in the sea, living, moving, and finding your peace in his divine will. Until tomorrow, stay in his will, and your faith will be made anew.
