Luisa writes,

As my state of privation continued, I felt as though a tedium and a tiredness of my poor situation, and my poor nature wanted to free itself of this state. Having compassion for me, my adorable Jesus came and told me: “My daughter, as you withdraw from my Volition, you begin to live of yourself; while if you remain fixed in my Will, you will always live of Me, dying completely to yourself.”

Then He added: “My daughter, have patience, resign yourself to my Will in everything, and not for a short time, but always – always, because only perseverance in good is that which reveals whether a soul is truly virtuous; it alone is what unites all virtues together. It can be said that perseverance alone unites perpetually God and the soul, virtues and graces, and places itself around them like a chain; and binding everything together, it forms the most safe knot of salvation. But where there is no perseverance, there is a lot to fear.” Having said this, He disappeared.

Welcome. This is David Russell in Your Faith Anew. Daily Reflections Guiding You to Live in the Divine Will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Luisa Picaretta, march thirtieth, nineteen oh one, volume four. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus, draw us into your divine will, that we may die to ourselves and live only in you. Grant us the grace of perseverance, that we may remain faithful in every trial, united always to your will, and never separate from your love. Amen. Saint Paul writes in his letter to the Galatians, chapter six, verse nine. And let us not grow weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.

The way of perfection passes by way of the cross. There is no holiness without renunciation and spiritual battle. Spiritual progress entails the asces and mortification that gradually lead to living in the peace and joy of the Beatitudes. In this teaching, the church reminds us that perseverance in the good, even through difficulty, is essential to holiness. Now, let us enter into today's reading. Louisa writes As my state of privation continued, I felt as though a tedium and a tiredness of my poor situation, and my poor nature wanted to free itself of this state. Having compassion for me, my adorable Jesus came and told me, My daughter, as you withdraw from my volition, you begin to live of yourself. This passage reveals a profound spiritual truth, the difference between living in ourselves and living in God. Jesus tells Louisa that the moment we withdraw from his will, we begin to live of ourselves. That is where fatigue, discouragement, and restlessness take root. How often do we feel that same interior weariness? It's not always because of external circumstances. It's often because we have subtly shifted from trusting in God's will to relying on our own strength. Jesus gives the remedy. Remain fixed in His will. This is not a fleeting act, but a constant state. And the key to remaining there is perseverance. Perseverance is not simply continuing, it is continuing in love, in surrender, in trust, even when everything feels dry or difficult. It's the quiet decision to remain with God when our emotions say otherwise. Jesus describes perseverance as a chain that binds everything together God, the soul, virtues, and graces. Without it, everything begins to unravel. With it, the soul becomes stable, rooted, and secure. In living in the divine will, perseverance becomes even deeper. It's not just about enduring, it's about continually choosing to live in God's will in every moment, allowing Him to act, to breathe, and to live within us. This means that even our struggles become opportunities for deeper union. Even our tiredness can become a place where we surrender more fully. And in that surrender, we find not exhaustion, but divine life. Perseverance, then, is not merely a virtue. It is the path to living continuously in God.

Let us pray.

SPEAKER_02

Jesus, I surrender my will to you. In every moment of weakness, remind me that without you I can do nothing. But with you, I can remain in peace. Give me the grace of perseverance, not only in action, but in love. Help me to remain faithful when I feel dry, to trust when I do not understand, and to continue when I'm tired. Bind my soul to yours with that divine chain of perseverance, so that I may never separate myself from your will. Let every act, every thought, and every breath be united with you, so that I may no longer live of myself, but of you alone. Jesus, I trust in your will. I remain in your will.

SPEAKER_01

I desire to live always in your will. Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you for joining your faith anew today. Remain steadfast in the divine will, especially in moments of difficulty, for it is there that your union with God deepens the most. Remember, perseverance in God's will is the chain that binds your soul securely to him, forming the safest path to salvation. Until tomorrow, stay in his will, and your faith will be made anew.
