Luisa writes,

“This time my adorable Jesus wanted to play a little bit. He would come,
He would show He wanted to listen to me, but as I would begin to speak, He
would disappear from me like a flash. Oh, God, what pain! While my heart was
swimming in this most bitter pain of Jesus’s distance, and it was also almost a
little restless, Jesus came back again, telling me: “What is it? What is it? More
peaceful, more calm. Speak, speak, what do you want?” But the moment I spoke,
 He disappeared.

I did as much as I could to calm myself, but – no, after a while my heart
 returned to being unable to give itself peace, without its only and sole comfort;
and maybe more than before. Coming back again, Jesus told me: “My daughter,
sweetness has the virtue of making things change their nature; it knows well how
to convert bitter into sweet. Therefore, more sweet, more sweet!” But He gave me
no time to say a word. This is how I spent the morning.

After this, I felt I was outside of myself, together with Jesus. There were
many people; some aspired to riches, some to honor, some to glory, and some
even to sanctity, and many other things – but not for God, but rather, to be
considered someone by creatures. Turning to them, shaking His head, Jesus said:
“Foolish you are – you are working your own net to entangle yourselves.”

Then, turning to me, He told me: “My daughter, this is why the first thing I
recommend is detachment from all things, and also from oneself. When the soul
has detached herself from everything, she has no need to struggle in order to stay
away from all the things of the earth which, by themselves, come around her. But
rather, in seeing themselves ignored, and even more, despised, saying good-bye
to her, they take leave of her to bother her no more.”

Welcome. This is David Russell and Your Faith Anew. Daily Reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, may twenty third, eighteen ninety nine, volume two. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Heavenly Father, in every moment of trial, teach us to remain peaceful and sweet in your presence. Help us to detach ourselves from every earthly distraction and cling only to you. May our hearts seek neither honor nor recognition, but only the joy of belonging completely to your divine will. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, guide us into deeper trust, holy calm, and true interior freedom. Amen. Saint Paul writes in his letter to the Colossians, chapter three, verses two and three. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in paragraph twenty five forty eight Desire for true happiness frees man from his immoderate attachment to the goods of this world so that he can find his fulfillment in the vision and beatitude of God. The Lord calls the soul away from restless attachment and into the peace that comes from union with him alone. True sweetness is born when the soul is no longer seeks recognition, comfort, or fulfillment from creatures, but rests entirely in God. And now let us enter into today's reading from the Book of Heaven. Louisa writes This time my adorable Jesus wanted to play a little bit. He would come, he would show he wanted to listen to me, but as I would begin to speak, he would disappear from me like a flash. Oh God, what pain while my heart was swimming in this most bitter pain of Jesus' distance, and it was also almost a little restless. Jesus came back again, telling me What is it? What is it? More peaceful, more calm. Speak, speak, what do you want? At the moment I spoke, he disappeared. I did as much as I could to calm myself, but no. After a while my heart returned to being unable to give itself peace without its only and soul comfort, and maybe more than before. Coming back again, Jesus told me, My daughter, sweetness has the virtue of making things change their nature. It knows well how to convert bitter into sweet. Therefore, more sweet, more sweet. But it gave me no time to say a word. This is how I spent the morning. After this, I felt I was outside of myself, together with Jesus. There were many people. Some aspired to riches, some to honor, some to glory, and some even to sanctity, and many other things, but not for God, but rather to be considered someone by creatures. Turning to them, shaking his head, Jesus said, Foolish you are. You are working your own net to entangle yourselves. Then turning to me, he told me My daughter, this is why the first thing I recommend is detachment from all things, and also from oneself. When the soul has detached herself from everything, she has no need to struggle in order to stay away from all the things of the earth which by themselves come around her. But rather, in seeing themselves ignored and even more despised, saying goodbye to her, they take leave of her to bother her no more. This passage reveals something deeply human in Louisa's relationship with Jesus. She longs for him, reaches for him, and experiences the pain of his apparent distance. Yet even in this hiddenness, Jesus is teaching her something essential for the spiritual life peace, sweetness, and detachment. How often do we become restless when God seems silent? We pray, we seek consolation, and when we do not immediately feel his presence, our hearts become troubled. Yet Jesus gently tells Louisa, more peaceful, more calm. The divine will is not lived in agitation, it is lived in surrender. Then Jesus speaks of sweetness. Sweetness is not weakness, it is the supernatural gentleness that flows from trust in God. A soul living in the divine will does not become bitter under suffering, disappointment, or delay. Instead, grace transforms bitterness into sweetness, because the soul allows God to act within every circumstance. Jesus then exposes another danger spiritual ambition. Some desired riches, others honor, and even sanctity, but not for God. They desired these things to be admired by others. This warning reaches deeply into our spiritual lives. Even holy things can become traps when pursued for self glory. The divine will strips away this hidden self-seeking. It teaches the soul to desire God alone. Detachment is not merely giving up material things. It's the surrender of ownership over our reputation, our plans, our preferences, and even our spiritual image. The detached soul becomes free. Earthly things no longer cling to it because the heart belongs entirely to God. In the divine will, the soul no longer struggles constantly against every temptation of vanity or attachment. Instead, by fixing its gaze on God alone, these distractions gradually lose their power. Jesus calls us today into that holy freedom. Let us pray. Jesus, my sweetest love, teach me holy calm in every trial. When I feel your distance, keep my heart from restlessness and fear. Help me remain peaceful in your will, trusting that even silence is filled with your presence. Lord, remove from my soul every hidden desire for recognition, praise, or self glory. Detach me from all that keeps me bound to earthly things. Free me even from attachment to myself. May your divine will become the center of my thoughts, desires, and actions. Transform bitterness into sweetness within me. Let every suffering become an opportunity to love you more completely. Jesus, I desire nothing but you. May all creatures, honors, ambitions, and distractions fade before the light of your presence. Blessed Mother, guide me into true humility and holy detachment. Teach me to live hidden in the divine will, where peace reigns and love alone remains. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. When we seek God alone, the soul becomes free, calm, and filled with heavenly sweetness. Until tomorrow, stay in His will, and your faith will be made anew.
