Trump’s security clearance

Given Trump’s loose cannon attitude towards, well, everything, I dreamt up some questions and broadcast them to the ether. I soon found out that neither presidential candidates nor elected presidents are vetted for Top Secret clearance; the latter get it automatically. Sure, candidates get reviewed informally by their respective Parties.  But hey, we are talking about Trump Repugnants here! No-one psychosane (hosting the Holy Ghost: functional conscience of right and wrong) could miss the security breach Trump represents. But that is not such a big deal among his psychopath friends and sociopath opponents. 

Wait! What was that again? Who gets what automatically?

A)   When Trump ran his campaign for President in 2015, despite his shady past -- international, financial and personal -- who signed his Top Secret clearance?

B)   How did that happen, administratively?

C)   Why did that happen, against all logic under such circumstances?

D)   If Trump (or anyone else) benefits from a high security clearance, would it not be subject to immediate revocation at the least suspicion of unreliability?  What happens if he certifies the Secret clearance of others less trustworthy (family members, KGB agents, toadies looking for secrets to sell, etc.)?  Would that not set off alarms?

E)   For anyone but Trump, say a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff whose skull a stray golf ball had cracked; wouldn’t that revoke their security clearance and get them replaced automatically?  The same question applies to Mike Pence (honorable if nothing more) and other constituents of the big Trump fish that stank from day one from the head down.

F)    No Congressional or Judicial review, no hemming and hawing; just summary cancellation pending in-depth investigation? 

G)   Again, in detail please: how would that work? Must we depend on twice-failed presidential impeachment: slow, clumsy, gleefully undermined by the bad guys and most reluctantly  by the others by-the-book, but highly successful in the long run –- for Putin and his agents?

H)   Who orders this cancellation and executes it? 

I)     When will this revocation process begin? Why not immediately? What would happen to you, to me and to anyone else but Trump? His boots of fascist impunity are reverently bootlicked no matter what dog turds he’s stepped in.

J)     A hypothetical Putin mole like Trump could penetrate how many American security breaches? How many triple backwards flips did the Pentagon have to land to patch things up? Forget the Constitution, civilian freedom from military interference, the safety of our spies overseas, forget anything right side up in DC. 

Current reportage barely covers the tip of this iceberg, if that. The TV networks’ nightly newscast? Cable’s? Any other’s? It is only small talk of tired neighbors on a bus: sports, weather, illness, free “news” about commercial products, celebrity stories, political bickering as stupid as it is useless, criminal rampage stories (a half dozen stories of authorized crime, nauseatingly retold), and puppy in a basket stories. “See you tomorrow, folks!”

Solid international reportage? Balanced news from abroad? Anything but the next Big Brother war scare and military spending bill? 

“Sorry, we don’t have enough air time for quality stuff like that. Enjoy instead our bread and circus, our pony show aimed at the info proletariat we must lie to.”

Note our airtight national security apparatus so hermetic it can’t tell a mole hill from a hyena den.

Note, too, the hundreds of sparkling careers ruined heroically, from top to bottom (thousands, counting State officials), merely to slow down this monstrous takeover. Leadership we can lose and die, or promote and maybe survive.

This Republic’s iron is Presidential steel.
We can make a cardboard President,
We will get a cardboard Republic.
