Prior chronology, Notes on the Second Civil War #7

1856-7 

Chief Justice Roger Taney rules, in the Dred Scott v. Sandford Supreme Court decision, that African-Americans cannot be American citizens. He leaves unfilled the three longest vacancies in the history of the Supreme Court so as to maintain his pro-slavery minority in power. His breaking the rules to satisfy his prejudices is typical of pro-slavers back then and of Trump Republicans today. For them, success is incompatible with good conscience. The first is necessary; the second is not. His conviction drives the United States into Civil War until his death late in the fourth year of the War. The Dred Scott decision forms part of the anticanon of U.S. common law: four and twenty or so of the stinkiest of many rotten U.S. Supreme Court decisions.

1981+

As of President Ronald Reagan, the Common Law majority rule of the Supreme Court -- nurtured since the first Civil War, the World Wars, the New Deal and the partial reversal of Jim Crow -- gradually erodes into its anticanonical opposite, openly pro-fa(scist), pro-repression, pro-slavery.  After the 1929 Stock Market Crash, toxic wealth disparities between the rich and poor had contracted in America and mutual prosperity held great promise. Thanks to Reagan Republicanism, American (and world) wealth disparities have swollen and prosperity has vaporized for all but the few.

Family planning, LGBT issues and minority human rights and voting rights are gradually eroded as “conservatives” pay more and more money to dictate their twisted political tastes. Evangelical Christian Churches eject every real Christian from their political action congregations and profit centers; they support forced pregnancy, corrupt politicians and preachers, school censorship of real science and history. They hold political and financial power more important than the Sermon on the Mount; their medieval prejudices and harm done to others for their own good more important than any Christian sense of love. In May 2022, we await the reversal of Roe v. Wade by the current Supreme Court. I will so note when the time comes.

12-12-2000

Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000), a Scalia Supreme Court decision lets the village idiot Bush the Lesser beat Al Gore for President despite Gore’s more numerous national votes. Anticanon.

9-11-2001

A catastrophic cascade of errors deliberate or otherwise overwhelmed the U.S. Defense establishment from top to bottom. A platoon of jihadi martyrs drops the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City cleanly on its own footprint. Instead of carefully set demolitions (or an amateurish truck bomb attack that failed in 1993), these fools for God crash into buildings with hijacked airliners. How half of Manhattan was not bombarded with thousands of tons of glowing construction material like some big box office catastrophe movie, who cares? Bush the Lesser was deep in negotiation with the Taliban over a too-good-to-be-true pipeline deal through Afghanistan that would checkmate Russian pipelines to the North  (a one-up on his much smarter father President). Anyway, he and his much smarter security advisors neglect many warnings. The U.S. Air Force does not secure American skies like it had done since WWII; then fails to investigate what just happened and sack its command staff for incompetence or worse. The 9/11 Commission Report, released in 2004, does the same job for 9/11 that the Warren Commission Report did for President Kennedy’s execution: it smothers the mess under black lava fields of redacted findings that wink  with red hot eyes of lies. The Department of Homeland Security stifles the USA under massive new layers of surveillance and control.

2010

In Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. 310 (2010), the Roberts Supreme Court grants legal personhood to mere corporations and authorizes unlimited, anonymous political bribes. It could not have left its citizens more disunited. Anticanon.

2012

The Defense Authorization Bill of 2012, legislated by a vile Congress and signed by Weimar Republic President Obama, authorizes the indefinite detention or execution of American citizens by military authorities without due process. Many such violations of Habeas Corpus litter the U.S. Defense bureaucracy and its Continuation of Government disaster contingency plans.

2013

In Shelby County v. Holder, 570 U.S. 529 (2013), the Roberts Supreme Court neutralizes protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, thus clearing State Houses to jerrymander districts and suppress fair elections at will. Anticanon.

Trump is implicated in Russian shady pipeline deals, sex and Bundesbank scandals, as well as many other sordid affairs, the details of which are duly posted, ignored and dropped during his election campaign. Nothing sticks, not even his obvious role as Russian paid mole. Look up Color Revolution (2004) and Russian reactions to Western-backed manipulations of Russian regional politics. Tit for tat: Trump.

2016

Trump is elected by means of Russian spy handler fraud with the help of local Republican collaborators. Voting machines and tabulations are falsified in key purple districts of key purple States. Trump should have won half of them or less, the definition of purple: “neither Democratic blue nor Republican red.” He sweeps all of them instead. He has to sweep all of them without exception to win. Neither the government nor the media report this statistical freak of nature. Russian election tampering is suspected at the time and confirmed by massive investigations later on. American voting machines and systems are found to be highly vulnerable to tampering anywhere partisan officials hold sway. Trump’s Presidential win overturns almost every election prediction. Media explanations are absurd. No-one is allowed to investigate any of this.

For years, Federal appointments to U.S. Courts and other government positions are not filled unless Congress is under Republican control,. The Trump Administration’s two major victories are his massive handover of tax and regulatory benefits to the rich and powerful; and a herd of young, radical reactionary and disgracefully unqualified political candidates ramrodded into lifetime appointments in the Federal Courts. Once they regain power, the Democrats make no effort to sort through these bad apples, much less retrieve unearned gains from the rich (Never! We promise!).

2017

A Trump Supreme Court appointee replaces a legitimate Democratic nominee sidelined by the Republican dominated Senate. (Merrick Garland, 2017). This helps overturn the canonical majority in the Supreme Court.

Trump’s Administration is an ongoing disaster only Republican hard liners could love. Corruption follows ineptitude follows gangsterism follows mass betrayal of Constitutional oaths by Republican officials from Trump on down. Minor goats are sacrificed; everyone else makes out like a bandit. Almost every honest Executive Branch official is fired and replaced by one or more Trump toadies. The Democrats post many strongly worded notes of protest.

2020

Trump  loses massively to Biden. Himself elected by fraud, Trump claims electoral fraud. After many court battles in disputed States, no evidence of fraud is found. There were no court battles when Trump “won.” The Republican Party and electorate recite this Democratic fraud lie to each other until the next Presidential election. That incantation justifies massive voting obstruction by Republican State Houses, to “prevent voting fraud.” And the threat of complete overturn of election results if they go against Republican interests in States they dominate. In 2023? In 2024? For the next slave empire, this time global?

Rioters invade the U.S. Capitol. Army and Marine Corps units do not shut this riot down instantly, even though they are (in the Pentagon) within an easy commute of the Capitol building and (at Anacostia Naval Yard) at a fast tactical march to it, respectively. So nobody in the entire U.S. military has a plan for dealing with this Civil War insurrection kind of thing for the second time, besides paralysis and watching it on TV? A forecast of things to come?

Several hundred insurrectionist small fry are netted up and processed long after the fact. More conspiracies to overturn the election are revealed, but Congressional level and billionaire conspirators, much less much lesser demons, are left in power and wealth and out of prison. Trump is kept out of prison because the investigations pursuing him are so massive, lengthy and complex: an endless lawyer breadline. He should have done five years of Federal Prison time after a two-week trial for delaying the U.S. Mails. Then dump five years of legal study on his head. But no, too simple.

General inability (unsuitability?) of the Justice Department to react effectively against political corruption and insurrection. Inability or refusal to act by the intelligence community. Gutting of the State Department, and an ongoing debacle instead of rational foreign policy. Congressional paralysis through political polarization as aggravated by corporate and private funding and Media inflammation of mutual hostility. In any case, the foxes rule the roost unopposed.

May 2022

I am writing this up from now on. Waiting for the next axe stroke to fall. Wish us luck and good courage.

Following President Obama’s lead, the Biden/Sinema/Manchin Administration effortlessly discards progressive projects. The few that get through were originally proposed by Republicans. Instead, Defense contracts go ballistic as Biden paves the Ukraine with American military aid; the way Bush and Obama paved Afghanistan and Iraq with trillions of dollars while American infrastructure and education shrank.

U.S. Supreme Court repeals Roe versus Wade. Anticanon.

2023

Midterm elections. Standard Democratic failure to deliver progress while in power. Standard  Republican sabotage of the economy to make second-best the only remaining choice. Predictable Republican takeover of the House and Senate. 

Stoppage of all Trump and other corruption investigations. Long, predatory, preparatory silence. Government shutdown of official information except for corporate propaganda. Adoption of Chinese social credit model? Privatization of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid? Additional broad cuts of progressive policies by highjacked Federal Courts. Expect more anticanon Supreme Court decisions.

Nov. 2024

Presidential election. “Two Popes” split decision between States of different Party reign. Two candidates are declared President by their respective partisans.

Serious shootings have gone on far too long in America (again, since Nixon and Reagan). A pandemic of gun death is institutionalized for corporate profit. It fuels military adventures, homicide, police execution of minorities and suicide. The actual trigger event begins…

You expect me perhaps to map what 300+M hyper armed, smartphone-programmed narcissists will do with this country? What 8B hyper armed, starving idiots will do with the rest of the world? 

Let me guess.

Many American white combat personnel and Trump militias are in secret cahoots. It is the red-neck equivalent of the revolving door policy their superior officers navigate between Department of Defense retirement and Defense contract industry rehire. Plus there are hundreds of thousands of spy, police and military mercenaries, an international brotherhood fighting for government, NGO and corporate contracts. A lot of itchy, middle-aged trigger fingers looking for valid targets.

There is not going to be some Lexington and Concord battle between Regulars and hostile militia, except maybe some Regulars surrender and trade patches with their Trumpoid brothers in arms. Rather, it will be more like Amritsar where British troops and armored cars shot up a square full of peaceful Gandhian protestors. More like late Russian Empire pogroms against Jewish communities (the police look the other way or join in). More like Sadat’s troops shooting down peaceful Syrian protestors to start a war of extermination against them. This will be trumped up as an official and existential suppression of Democrat attempts (now openly called terrorists) to overthrow the absolute Republican government. 

Praise the Lord of Armies and pass the ammunition!

Heads roll in large numbers. Unlike the rest of the world, the USA is the only nation to emerge from climate, demographic and resource catastrophes of the 2020s with something like a promising future. Instead, it throws this miraculous advantage away, submits to totalitarian gangsterism and leads the world down a descending spiral of Third World decay, soon followed by regional genocide and then the death of the human race by a thousand nuke and bio-war cuts.
