(Title music begins) Namaste! And Welcome to Kidacity- where kids share, learn and have fun together. I am your host Samarth Chitta and this is Episode 37- Water, water everywhere. We all know that water is a scarce resource and many parts of the world are already experiencing water shortage. Scientists have been working on alternate sources of water and one interesting way is to produce water from the atmosphere. So literally, from thin air. I will share the story of one such apartment in my Good news segment. Do camels really store water in their humps? That’s our Mythbuster segment this week. And Finally, in our short story segment called Konichiwa Izumi, you will find out why Akira went back to their old apartment. (Title music ends)

(Mythbusters Music begins for 3 secs) The Great Wall of China is the only man made structure visible from space.  Albert Einstein had failed his math class. It is time to bust some of these myths in our  segment called Mythbuster! (Mythbusters music ends for 3 secs)

I’m sure you’ve all seen camels, Or some of us might have taken a ride on one of them. I have! But, did you know that a camel can survive 7 days without water!? Yes, 7! Well, many people believe it is because of the camels humps as they store water there, But no. It's all thanks to their oval shaped blood cells! Since the blood cells are more elastic and stretchy when in their oval, that means that they can store more water! So now, what is in the hump? Fat! Though a useful one! The lump provides the camels with the same energy as 3 weeks of food! Some camels such as the mongolian camel have 2 humps! They are called Bactrian camels. One fun fact about the Bactrian camels is that they can survive for 7 months without water but they lose half of their body weight! Here's another fun fact related to the desert! Did you know that cacti or cactuses store water inside them?! If you break a cactus into 2, you can see a slimy and a bit gooey substance. This is water. Isn’t the desert fascinating?

It's now time for some good news.

An apartment in Bengaluru has started a project to become self-sufficient for its water requirement. They have installed an Atmospheric Water Generation plant which generates water from the water vapor in the air. As a concept this has been available since 1990 but was used only for research or defence purposes. The apartment plans to supply drinking water to 80 support staff to start with.

There are very few people on earth who don’t like chocolates. I’m not one of them. Nestle, the company behind KitKat announced the launch of its first ever vegan KitKat. That is KitKat made from plant milk and not animal milk. It is called KitKat V and will soon be available across the world.

What would you do if you win a car in a lottery? Drive it or donate it? 17 year old Haley Bridges won a car in a company lottery event but instead of using it, she donated it to a co-worker who she’s been working with for only 5 months! Her co-worker used to cycle to work for 2 hours everyday in freezing weather and Haley decided that she needed the car more than her. Way to go Haley!

That is all for this week’s good news.

(Izumi music begins for 3 secs)  Konchiwa Izumi! We all love love love love stories and in this series of short stories written by me, I will take you into the world of Izumi- a hard working robot maker from Japan. The 7th story is called  Akira Returns (Izumi music ends for 3 secs)

Akira answers Izumi, I went back to the old apartment because I like it there better than my new mansion altho it is big and has everything I miss about our old house. I miss my friends. Its all right Akira, Its a matter of time and you’ll get used to it. I'll also start taking you for walk s to the park and you’ll make new friends.

Izumi and Akira went on walks to the park everyday but Akira was still a bit sad. Izumi told Akira that he could go back to the old house ONCE a week and had to come back by 6:00 pm sharp. Izumi also gave Akira a tracker. Akira started going to the old house once every week.

One day Akira was late at coming home, Izumi thought that he forgot the time. He waited for an hour but Akira did not show up. I think I should ask Akira what He is , thinks Izumi. Where are you Akira?! Izumi says, There was no response. Not Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally a response comes out. I am in a dark bag and am being taken somewhere.

Uh oh, Akira is being kidnapped. Luckily the tracker was still on. Izumi quickly checked the location.  Akira was in shibuya, He was stuck there. Izumi called up a friend in Shibuya and asked him to find people with a large bag and had a dog barking. Izumi had of course asked akira to bark. Izumi’s friend called again and asked, Shibuya is too big, Where do I find Him?! Izumi told him the exact location. Soon Police, His friend and everyone else had gathered there. They waited patiently and suddenly it was there- a man carrying a black bag was rushing to the subway station. The police stopped the man and asked him to show his bag. He had no choice. The bag opened and  Akira jumped out and ran to Izumi. Oh Akira! Thank god you are safe! Izumi was relived. Iam sorry Izumi. I have learnt my lesson. I will always go out with you and never alone. LEt’s go back to our new house.

(Izumi music begins and ends for 5 secs)

(Closing music begins)  We are at the end of the show and I want to leave you with a message to conserve water. A simple thing you can start doing is to reduce the duration of your shower. That is where the most amount of water is consumed. Until next week, goodbye and Jai Hind from Kidacity!  (Closing music ends)
