Kidacity- Learn. Take Action
Welcome to Kidacity where kids learn and take action together. I'm always learning about new professions and how they are important in the world and as I learn about the existence of a cool profession, it gets added to my long list of future jobs, much like many of my friends.
But, I realised that I really dont know that much about each of these professions except the basics such as what they do. Therefore, as a part of my brand new season - Season 11, I am on a quest to interview people of 21 different professions, from architects to authors , entrepreneurs to engineers and many more, to learn all about how a normal day looks like for them, what they had to learnt in university to pursue their jobs, they challenges they face and their favorite part of their jobs to name just a few!
A little bit about me: I'm an 12 year old from Bengaluru, India and a student of Grade 7 in The International School Bengaluru. I love building structures with Jenga blocks, learning about planes, writing, my dog Yuki's nose and most of all, Japan. I research a lot about these topics and share what I learn with my family and friends. My parents encouraged me to write and I have published 2 books so far. The Talking Walking Tree and Konnichiwa Izumi: Adventures in 2040. Both of them are available on Amazon and at leading bookstores in India.
I will be grateful if you encourage me by listening to my podcast, reading my books and sharing your feedback with me.

(Title music begins) Namaste! And Welcome to Kidacity- where kids share, learn and have fun together. I am your host Samarth Chitta and welcome to a brand new season of Kidacity. We have interesting new segments along with our all time favourites. I wish everyone a safe, happy and awesome 2021. Let’s get started!(Title music ends)
(Mythbusters Music begins for 3 secs) The Great Wall of China is the only man made structure visible from space. Albert Einstein had failed his math class. It is time to bust some of these myths in more in our new segment called Mythbuster! (Mythbusters music ends for 3 secs)
If you are like me then you love flying. I was not able to travel much in 2020 but if it was a normal year, I would’ve taken a couple of flights to visit my grandparents or to go on a few vacations with my parents. My favourite part of flying is the take off. One common myth associated with planes is that when they are landing their nose is pointed downwards. This is not true. Infact, during the cruise, take off and landing, the nose of the plane is pointed upwards. That is why it is more difficult to walk in the front of the plane than at the back. The reason why this is done is to ensure that the back wheels of the plane are closer to the runway during touchdown.

It's now time for some good news.
We’ve heard of airports, but have you heard of a spaceport? A spaceport is designed to house and launch tourists on day trips to the space. A company in Japan announced this week that they are working towards hosting a floating spaceport. It will host commercial suborbital spacecrafts and has already completed a couple of test flights. 600 people have signed up for the yet unscheduled $250,000, 90 minute space flight.
A police officer in America was called to a store to manage 2 shoplifters. However, once he got to the store, he bought groceries for them instead of arresting them. Matt Lima, a cop was called to a store in Somerset and when he got there, he saw that 2 ladies had put more items in their bags than what they had paid for. Upon probing, he learned that they were trying to arrange a Christmas dinner for their family within the limited money that they had. Matt then decided not to press charges on them and gave them $200 to shop at another store. Isn’t that really sweet?
Finally, a rare white tiger called Nieve which means snow in Spanish was abandoned by its mother in a Nicaragua zoo. White tigers are rare and only a few exist in the world. Now the cub is being raised by the staff at the zoo.
That is all for this week’s good news.
(Izumi music begins for 3 secs) We all love stories and in my 2nd brand new segment this season, I am bringing a series of short stories written by me - Konichiwa Izumi! The stories are based in my favourite country Japan. The first story is called Izumi and the Robot Megamind. (Izumi music ends for 3 secs)
It was the year 2040 in Tokyo, Japan, the robot capital of the world. Izumi lived alone and worked for a robot company near Tokyo Bay. He took 2 subway trains to get to work everyday. The one thing special about Izumi was that he never gave up.
When Izumi was 10 years old, he had to move to a different school for his next grade. The new school taught a different level and Izumi found it difficult to understand all the subjects. But, he did not give up. He went to the library and read and read till he understood everything.
His hobby was to make new robots. One day, while coming back from work, he saw screws and wrenches on the ground. He thought that his co-worker had dropped it while walking that way. Just then, he heard someone ask for help so he rushed to him. When he came back, he was surprised. When he had gone to help the stranger, more screws and wrenches had appeared on the ground and this time they were bigger! He thought he was just sleepy, so he went home and slept.
The next day he hurried to his office to see if the screws and wrenches were still there. He almost fainted when he saw that they were actually bigger! After he went home from work, he kept thinking about the screws and wrenches that appeared out of nowhere. Suddenly, it struck him. Such big screws and wrenches could have only belonged to a huge robot. And nobody had ever made such a huge robot ever.
He researched and found out that there was a magical and very rare herb which grew on the peak of Mt.Everest that increases the size of anything it is crushed and poured onto. Just then, he got a strange note attached to a paper plane. It said:
Izumi
Prepare for a robot disaster and try to save all the people in Tokyo.
From, Anonymous
Izumi realized that this message was sent by a robot and to defeat a robot you need a robot. He immediately got to work. After many tireless weeks, his robot, Yukitron was finally ready. Just as he was putting the batteries, he got another note saying:
Izumi
Come and defeat me in Tokyo bay!
From, Anonymous
He immediately set off to Tokyo Bay with his robot. He was then face to face with a robot megamind. They had a very fierce and intense battle and just as Izumi was about to zap the robot megamind, his robot stopped. The megamind took advantage and zapped his robot. Then it exploded into smithereens. Izumi was shocked! He asked the megamind “ Sir pls let me rebuild my robot so we can have a fair battle.” The megamind agreed and he said “ But do not expect it to be so easy, you only have 24 hours to build. ”Izumi agreed and set off to work. After 24 intense hours of building it was finally ready-an ultra-robot. The next day was an intense battle and finally Izumi won!
After the defeat, Izumi was wondering why the megamind was so generous. And just then, the robot megamind’s spirit came and said to him, “ I am a part of your family from the future and I wanted to test if you were good enough. You have passed my test and that’s why I was so generous. I did not want to harm you.”
And that is the story of how Izumi saved the people of Tokyo from the robot megamind.
