Enabled in Academia
A podcast aimed at disabled, chronically ill and/or neurodivergent students and early career researchers. I'll be chatting with academics and students from different career stages about how they thrive in academia and disability. We'll discuss institutional and personal challenges, and hopefully provide some insights on how to cope with these.

Announcement for Enabled in Academia
A podcast about being disabled in academia.
Welcome to Enabled in Academia, my name is Lienkie Diedericks, your host creator and hopefully not the only listener of this podcast about how to survive and thrive in academia as a disabled chronically ill, and all neurodiverse individual. I'm a PhD candidate at King's College London and our Center for doctoral studies is helping to fund this project. Over the next few episodes, I'll be speaking to a range of guest speakers, disability advisors, mentors, disabled academics at various stages of their careers and disabled students about access problems, ways of seeking and creating support, and important issues that are often neglected in academic institutions. The first few episodes will include guest speakers, specifically from Kings, and I hope in later episodes to broaden our range of guests from institutions across the globe enabled access academia launches on the eighth of September and will be available on all major platforms like Spotify, Apple podcasts and Amazon audible. I'll share transcripts of every episode on Twitter so make sure to follow us at our Twitter handle @EnabledInAca. For any questions, suggestions and impressions, feel free to email me at enabledinacademia@gmail.com. Since I'm only one dynamically disabled person who is also trying to survive a PhD and a global pandemic, please bear with me in replying to tweets, DMS and emails. I'm planning to respond to all messages at least once a week. But if I'm slower than that, then it's likely I've fallen down the rabbit hole of new literature I didn't know I was supposed to read. I'll get back to you. I'm super excited to share the advice and support from my guest speakers and hope that this podcast can bring together disabled academics and students that are our voices and needs can be heard that we can become enabled in academia. I totally rehearsed that.
