Harmonious World

Chatting with saxophonist Dave Anderson about 'In Lieu of Flowers' and trends in jazz

Hilary Seabrook Season 21 Episode 290

Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, in which I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.

Saxophonist Dave Anderson and I began with a chat about his latest album - In Lieu of Flowers - and progressed to discussions about folk music and influences on jazz. We shared our mutual admiration for Maria Schneider and he introduced me to the 'Ernie and Bert' theory (you'll have to listen to find out more).

Thanks to Dave for allowing me to use tracks from In Lieu of Flowers alongside our conversation.

Don't forget the Quincy Jones quote that sums up why I do this: "Imagine what a harmonious world it would be if every single person, both young and old, shared a little of what he is good at doing."
