The Man who Rediscovered Purple Dye - Interview (Part 1 of 2) with Mohammed Ghassen Nouira

Mohammed Ghassen Nouira's life changed course forever when he, at 14 years old, was introduced to the purple dye that was traded by the Phoenicians and Carthaginians; at the time it was more valuable than gold.

He now makes the dye himself out of the murex sea snail and is singlehandedly reviving the ancient technique.

In this interview, Ghassen explains the importance of purple dye to the ancient world, how it is made, and shares his unique journey of discovery.
