In this episode of the Village Church sermon podcast, Pastor Mark continues unpacking the Hot Seat Model. This week, he turns our attention to what is called the Table of Decision.
He begins with a familiar image from the Gospels—the moment when friends tear open a roof to lower a paralyzed man into the presence of Jesus. Mark invites us to consider where we find ourselves in that story. Are you the one being carried? Or are you one of the ones doing the carrying?
From there, he moves to a different kind of table—the one set in Psalm 23. “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” The Table of Decision isn’t just about choices—it’s a place of presence, of trust, of being seen by God when the world feels hostile. It’s a space where the Spirit invites us to pause, listen, and respond.
The Village Church’s sermon podcast is more than just a weekly message. It is an invitation into the great and ongoing story of God’s work in the world. Pastors Eric, Mark, Susan, Daniel, and other leaders open the Scriptures not as a collection of abstract ideas but as the living, breathing witness to God’s kingdom breaking into our midst. Each episode is a call—not merely to listen, but to take part, to step forward into the life of faith with renewed vision and purpose.
Week by week, the pastors and leaders explore the deep rhythms of Christian discipleship—prayer, fasting, generosity—not as isolated duties but as part of a larger, richer, and more beautiful whole. They unpack these ancient practices in light of Jesus himself, the one in whom heaven and earth have come together. But they also turn their attention to the realities of everyday life—relationships, finances, the struggles and joys of being human—demonstrating how the gospel is not merely about what we believe but about how we live as God's renewed people in the present age.

🍁 The Village Church Thankfulness Service: A Celebration of God’s Provision! 🍁
Once a year, The Village gathers for a service that’s equal parts storytelling, celebration, and a big family reunion—minus the awkward political debates at the dinner table. This is our Thankfulness Service, where we look back, remember, and proclaim what God has done in our lives and our community over the past year.
At the heart of it all? The story of how God provided a building—not just walls and a roof, but a place where His people gather, worship, and grow. And if you think that’s the biggest thing He’s done, just wait! One by one, voices rise to share: prayers answered, struggles met with grace, moments of joy, and unexpected provision.
Tears? Probably. Laughter? Definitely. Gratitude? Overflowing.

In this episode of The Village Church Sermons, Pastor Mark Crawford continues the journey through the powerful truth of Micah 6:8. With clarity and conviction, he explores the concept of justice—first through the lens of the world's perspective, which often feels fragmented and reactive. Mark doesn't leave it there. He carefully pivots, showing us how Jesus offers something profoundly different, something whole and transformative.
This isn't just a discussion about fairness or equity as the world defines them; it's an invitation to walk with Jesus in His redemptive work. Mark challenges us to wrestle with our own assumptions and consider what it means to "do justice" in the way God desires—justice that reflects mercy, humility, and the unshakable hope of the Kingdom.
The call is not merely to understand justice but to embody it in our relationships, our communities, and our daily lives. As you listen, let these truths press into your heart and draw you closer to the One who defines justice perfectly.

In this episode of the Village Church podcast, Pastor Mark brings us to the closing words of Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Here, Paul extends an invitation—an invitation to let our service to one another become a living testimony to the joy of following Jesus. This is no mere duty but a shared participation in the story of Christ, a story that shapes us and, in turn, becomes part of the spiritual inheritance we leave for others. Pastor Mark unpacks how this joyful service is not only a response to grace but also a profound act of grace itself.

In his recent sermon, Pastor Mark skillfully expounded upon the final verses of Colossians 4, drawing attention to the indispensable allies who stood by Paul's side. His oration brought to life the colorful array of characters who were instrumental in disseminating the apostle's teachings.
These overlooked champions, marked by their tenacity and unwavering support, offered solace to Paul throughout his challenging endeavors. Far from being mere casual contacts, they were loyal partners, united in the crucial endeavor of gospel propagation.
One noteworthy aspect is the multifaceted composition of Paul's supportive network. Originating from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, these individuals found unity in their shared spiritual conviction. This mutual faith superseded any existing distinctions, serving as the glue that bound them together in both purpose and commitment.
The closing chapter of Colossians reveals a compelling narrative of harmony in the midst of heterogeneity. A symphony of distinct voices harmonized to magnify an eternal message of faith and optimism. Through his insightful sermon, Pastor Mark underscored the potent influence that materializes when a diverse group passionately pursues a shared objective.

In the latest installment of the Village Church podcast, Pastor Mark offers an engaging exploration of Colossians 2:6-23. He challenges the community, known as the Village, to reassess their conceptual framework around faith. Specifically, Pastor Mark warns against adopting a "Plus Jesus" or "Jesus Plus" mentality, advocating instead for Jesus to be the unambiguous focal point of our lives.
To illustrate this critical point, he employs two vivid analogies: the ingredients of a cookie and a bowl of chili. These down-to-earth metaphors serve to clarify the pastor's message, underscoring the need for a pure, undiluted focus on Christ. Listeners will be prompted to re-evaluate their spiritual foundations, encouraged to root themselves more deeply in Jesus, and reminded to cultivate a sense of gratitude in their daily walk with God.

In a moment of time, John was granted a picture: the book of Revelation. And just like how we see different things at different moments in time, we also have various pictures of Jesus in our minds. But during Holy week, we witness Jesus in a different light, engaging in debates, healing people, and ultimately dying on the cross. Then, in Revelation 1, we see Jesus revealed to John on Patmos in all his glory, shining like the sun, with hair like white wool and eyes like flames of fire.
As we reflect on these images, we need to remember that Jesus has a message for us. He is speaking to the seven churches in a specific time and place, and we must be willing to listen. Let us hold onto this image of King Jesus, shining like the sun, and be open to hearing his words to us.
Jesus' message is not just for the churches of the past, but for us today as well. Are we willing to hear what he has to say? Are we open to seeing Jesus in a new light and letting his words challenge us?
In the midst of the chaos and uncertainty of our world, we need to be reminded that Jesus is still on the throne, shining in all his glory. He holds the seven stars in his hand and his voice thunders like the roar of many waters. He is powerful and majestic, and yet he speaks to us with tenderness and compassion.
So as we read the book of Revelation, let us not be afraid of the visions and the symbolism, but let us focus on the message of hope and redemption that Jesus has for us. Let us be willing to hear his words and let them transform us from the inside out. And let us hold onto the image of King Jesus, shining like the sun, as a reminder of his power and his love for us.

We are in a series on Radical Discipleship and last week, Michael summarized the previous 11 weeks to help us integrate all of these into our entire lives as we follow Christ. We have two more weeks in this series: the root of this discipleship Luke 9:23. Radical means the essence or extreme nature of following Jesus. Last week’s summary leads us into the conversation for this week which also encompasses everything: Radical Love. Love is everywhere. It’s in our music, TV, crime shows, the reality shows that try to make people get together and love each other, our politics, and our conversations. For example: Titanic is considered the greatest love movie of the 1990s…but this further exemplifies that we don’t know much about love. Titanic was about an old woman who has a memory of how she was engaged to be married 80 years earlier but she meets someone on a boat and has an affair and cheats on her fiancé and then he dies and this is what she remembers 80 years later. It’s really a terrible movie. Let’s move on

Galatians 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
