Speaker 2:

Hello, I'm Cece. Brawner executive director of BNIs greater Los Angeles regions. And this week I want to talk about what time of year it is. It's that time of year summer's over business folk are making their way back to their clients. Our leadership and support teams are transitioning as one term ends and another begins. Everyone is working towards elevating their chapters and their businesses to excellence. The keys to personal success are similar to those of the professional world. And I have three words for you today. Three words. So write them down. Responsibility, authority, and accountability. In order to succeed, each individual must make total responsibility for his or her own life. It has graciously accept credit when it is due. And more importantly, you must be the first to stand up and take blame. When you've made a mistake. If you get an a plus on a project, it's because you did the necessary work. Not because you got lucky. If you're late for a meeting, it's your fault. Not because you got stuck waiting at a railroad crossing without thinking you might have left earlier. Lombardi time is big around here and not without good reason. People who adopt these beliefs, they're most, always more successful than those who make excuses. Every individual has responsibility for himself or herself. Nobody else can or should make decisions for you. Fortunately, each of us have the authority to carry out that responsibility. You have the power you have over your own life. And finally, we're accountable for the decisions we make. Be they good or bad. We live with the consequences of our decision making and actions. What responsibility, authority, and accountability come with a burden. They're also liberating. Success begins and ends with you. People who abide by these three words, they enjoy more success and lead richer lives. In my opinion, I also think you can't be passive successful. Networkers must take the initiative to make things happen. Successful people. They live active, rather passive lives to persistent business life and be an I. You must deliberately make things happen. Those successful networkers who sit in their caves, waiting for something to happen, tend to turn into professionals who sit in their offices, wondering why people are so much more successful than they are. I say this all the time. It's basic math. You can not get 100% of the results with 10% of the effort. It just doesn't work out. So what do you do? You should get involved. It may sound counterintuitive, but one of the best ways to succeed is to get involved outside your office. Successful networkers, always practice this. I want to talk about some of those ways to do it. Getting involved in a support role, a club, an organization, Greek organization, like a fraternity and athletic team, or even religious involvement helps you develop relationships with fellow successful, networkers, these relationships, consequently, they bind you emotionally the business community. If you're having a good time and benefiting from meaningful experiences and relationships, you know, you're more likely to work hard and do what it takes to stay there. Another concern or movement is time management. Can we talk about this while succeeding takes hard work? You don't want to be networking 24 seven. Your BNI experience following your desired business path should be one of the most fun and memorable times of your life. You can enjoy the best of your business and social lives. If you're a good time manager, as in the professional world, time management habits are one of the most single significant factors that separate the successful from the not so successful. If an entrepreneur's lacking in time management, there's several resources that provide tips, advice, and exercise. Most importantly, I suggest you learn time blocking. And really, if you have difficulties with time blocking, come see me. I'm happy to give you a hand with this. You should find a mentor. Mentorship has been proven over the years to be a highly successful and effective path. New members should seek out mentors within the chapters. If you don't have a mentor, talk to your mentor mentee coordinator, by the way, and say, I need to be matched because having a role model and a source for advice makes it easier to live a life of responsibility, authority, and accountability, those mentor mentee relationships. They tend to be informal. They're developed over time. As people get to know each other and build friendships that said many chapters Excel at having formal mentoring programs in which the incoming members are matched with more seasoned members who have agreed to serve as mentors and follow a designated design program. And I just love that concept of giving service to help another person and elevate them up as part of responsibility, authority, and accountability, like so many things in your life, your business life requires that you throw your whole self into the experience, make it your passion, be a BNI entrepreneur with all your heart. There's some things in life that you can do. Half-heartedly your business is not one of them. You need to give it your all, give it to your passion and be fully committed.
