Super, super cool, whatever the internal thing is. This is the Supercalifragilistic awesome Disney Podcast where each week we discuss, you guessed it, Disney things
Kelli:you know, things you don't know and things you didn't know you needed to know. Well,
Chris:as Walt would say, the way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing Oh, wait,
Kelli:wait, I can do this. Okay, please didn't clear up the doors. Poor football mantenga c'est la hora de
Chris:let's quit this welcome aboard Disney fam. Hello out there Disney fam. Welcome to the show. My name is Chris and I'm Kelly. Kelly is wearing her Disneyland Paris 30th anniversary years featuring Chip and Dale Chippendale set up with their little tails together. It's like they're making
Kelli:Yes, that's cute way to look at it. Yes, no, they are representative of my topic. Today. I am discussing Disneyland Paris not necessarily Chippendale. So I think the ears
Chris:are on topic. In their in their cute they're really cute ears.
Kelli:Hey, honey, did anybody listen to us this week?
Chris:Yes, they did. Okay, we had downloads this week from Madison, New Jersey is the fourth Madison on our
Kelli:list by the way. So I say Madison, Wisconsin Madison, New Jersey that we had
Chris:a Madison Alabama just recently. Okay. All right. Well,
Kelli:welcome. Anything's legal in Jersey, including our podcast.
Chris:Jersey. They are home to the Shakespeare Theatre in New Jersey or the way
Kelli:I'm loving these people. Good. They love
Chris:Queen Creek, Arizona. This a Phoenix suburb, home to the Queen Creek olive mill Arizona is only foreign producing extra virgin olive oil since 2005. Oh, wow. That's cool. That's cool. I think it'd be a really cool place to go. They do daily tours and you can like sample their different olive oils. And they have they have an in house coffee shop where they do
Kelli:real olive oil in Peru and it was phenomenal. Yeah. That's awesome. Des
Chris:Moines, Iowa capital viable to earn 12,000 islands there.
Kelli:Have we not had Tomalin we've, where
Chris:you South Carolina are really jumping out on the pronunciation of
Kelli:leaked out of it there. Des Moines. Des Moines.
Chris:I think we've had a couple of suburbs may maybe but they were named by Business Wire as the number one location in the country for insurance companies. Des Moines Des Moines. I wouldn't have thought that either never third largest insurance capital in the world. never would have guessed it. Yeah. Okay. And then. Manchester, United Kingdom. That's
Kelli:right, Manchester. coming in strong Manchester. Yeah,
Chris:you're big.
Kelli:I think I'm huge in the UK. We basically lived over there last summer. Yeah.
Chris:And Manchester is commonly known as England's Second City, right?
Kelli:I knew that.
Chris:Once a powerhouse of industry is now a major cultural hub, famous for its fantastic nightclubs, extensive libraries, and glorious sporting history, obviously, Man City and Man United right there.
Kelli:Yeah, you know, I did not go to any libraries in London proper. I went to Cambridge, and I went to the bed lay in. Yeah. And that was it. Okay, both worthy. But had I known that Manchester was like some type of a hub of libraries
Chris:of libraries. I would have gone at also because of the major football powerhouses that are there. Yeah,
Kelli:right. That too. Absolutely. I care about all of the football.
Chris:Hey, by the way, happy Easter to all hoops or Yeah. So couple of Main Street topics here. Big big news this past week. Disney and the new Oversight Board have settled on an agreement which effectively ends all state level litigation between the two parties. Okay, Disney's comment on this was this. We are pleased to put an end to all litigation pending in state court in Florida between Disney and the Central Florida tourism oversight district. This agreement opens a new chapter of constructive engagement with new leadership of the district and serves the interests of all parties by enabling significant continued investment and the creation of 1000s of direct and indirect jobs and economic opportunity for the state. Okay, so I didn't read the the full agreement but blog Mickey who we get a lot of stuff from, they do a great job. They listed sort of the highlights of the agreement. Okay. And the the three that really stuck out to me, which effectively to me means this is going to be business as usual. For Disney Good, the district and the day and Disney will not contest the actions of the Reedy Creek improvement district prior to DeSantis. This takeover. So part of the lawsuit from the board to Disney was right before the takeover, Reedy Creek district implemented all these rules that effectively made the new board impotent. They there was a lot they couldn't do, right. And so So now they're basically saying, Okay, well, that's gonna stand, okay. The district will amend the 2020 Comprehensive Plan, consulting with Disney for a new plan. So meaning we're not going to contest the old plan, we're gonna but we're going to revise our own 2020 plan. And Disney will have a say in a say in what happens. And the Disney Disney and the district will not contest the actions of the Reedy Creek. Oh, I'm sorry, I had that on there twice. So they're really those are the two big takeaways
Kelli:said new leadership. So is there Disney leadership now on the board?
Chris:No, no, they're just talking. They're calling that board the new leadership. It's no longer the Reedy Creek leadership. But since you mentioned it, though. DeSantis did replace a board member with Gosh, what's his name? I can't remember his name. But he was the CEO of bags, Inc. Bags Inc. was the company that got your bags to and from the airport when you would take the Magical Express. That's cool. And so they he has since sold that business. And he's been on some other boards. And so now he sits on this board. Okay, I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's something okay. He's at least familiar with the inner workings. It seems like it yeah, yeah. So. So that's all good. The federal case against DeSantis. Specifically, that's held up an Appeals is still technically live. But it appears that they are also working out some settlements. DeSantis has made a statement about it and about the agreement with the board. And his tone has not surprisingly toned down quite a bit, not nearly as antagonistic is talking about. He knows that Disney is going to want to be competing with universal. And so instead of building a prison out there, like he's like they suggested, maybe Disney will instead build a fifth Park.
Kelli:Yeah, I think once his hopes at the presidential race were were dashed. He realized I'm gonna be in Florida for a while. Yeah. And maybe play maybe I don't piss off the biggest employer
Chris:in the state. Yeah, maybe I play nice for a while since I'd like to get reelected and all these cultural war things are not really going to benefit me now that I'm not running for president. Right. Exactly. So let's did suggest that you know, I believe all that don't say and all that and agonism towards the what they call the don't say gay move. Bill was really coming from leadership in California not from the operational leadership in Orlando. That is inaccurate. I think that's probably inaccurate because of
Kelli:use other wording there but I'm gonna go with inaccurate let's go with the fact
Chris:that it was they finally disagreed with the bill because so many of the cast members went on strike. Yes. Who were based in Orlando. We're
Kelli:based in Orlando. Yes. Yes.
Chris:So the other fun thing that happened this week, was the Disney legend Joe road was sent a video to Instagram he instead a video of himself entering Walt Disney Imagineering last week. Yeah, and he says his caption for his own video was doing a bit of work at the old farm. Is that the guy that did animal kingdom, among other things? Yes.
Kelli:I thought he retired and got picked up by Universal that
Chris:too, but maybe it was a short time consulting gig or maybe I had read it wrong. Okay, but here's the actual meat of what he's been doing there. This is not a major thing he's about to work on. Beginning this week, this was Disney's announcement after that video came out. Beginning this week. Imagineers have an opportunity to participate in a series of masterclass work sessions led by Joe Rohde following in the footsteps of many former Imagineers Joe continues to mentor and share his years of storytelling knowledge with current Imagineers contributing to the future of creativity at Walt Disney Imagineering which I love I love it. I mean, if you I
Kelli:want to go to one of those masterclass I completely lost and we would learn so much probably, but most likely I would just sit there at all
Chris:I just in all in all like if you walk around the animal kingdom and and just look at look at what they did an ad in the Africa area and
Kelli:Just from a pure plant perspective throughout animals, yes, yes. Particle culture alone. Yeah, choices that were made an animal kingdom must have taken. How do you can't even imagine
Chris:I just think about the level of analysis paralysis, yes, that you have to overcome when because they're so detailed the decisions are so detail oriented. How do you finally just say, this is what we're doing? And then that times a million opportunities to have that conversation, right, we're gonna put the, what's the little Mickey Mouse drawing on one of the buildings and the Africa that we took a picture of, you know, we're going to the guard rails between the walkway and the river here in this part are going to be bent rebar. Yeah, yeah, that looks like it's crumbling infrastructure.
Kelli:Hey, let's build the most amazing lounge in the world and give it a porch that overlooks the river, and an environment that makes it feel like you're not in a theme park. Right. Right. And you walk into Nomad lounge and you forget that you are in a theme park. Yes, that's true. Amazing. It's true. And that's that's him. Right? Those are all very intentional decision. We're
Chris:gonna do Africa this way. But then we're gonna go over to Asia, and you're gonna feel the environmental change there. And the streamers that go across the
Kelli:those prayer, a prayer flag. I know. So the prayer flags though, when an animal kingdom open up, it's 25 years, something like that, somewhere around that. I don't know if they're replacing those prayer flags on a regular basis or not. But those things have really
Chris:last. Yeah, yeah, that's right now we're intentional. Yes, very intentional,
Kelli:but that's what I'm saying. Like, did they invest and design their own prayer flag so that the fabric would never rip in the Florida wind and rain? Right. What?
Chris:Just that park? Yeah. Like it's such an underrated Park. I feel like and he worked on things other than that park, but that is really his, you know, his magnum opus, you know, it's just such an unlike anything else really. In the world, the way they did that park. And then you go to Pandora. And you're when we were there, just this last time I was telling the kids that can we were with us when we were walking that that wouldn't walk away between Pandora and Africa. And you know, somewhere along the way, the lights change. The lighting looks like details, changes details, and like where do you decide to make that happen? And, and then you walk you through Pandora at night? I mean, come on, right?
Kelli:Oh, no, it's it's amazing. It's just no animal kingdom is phenomenal. And it is beautiful at night specifically. Yeah, but most people don't get to see it at night because it's not really a nighttime
Chris:Park Road. They don't they don't have a lot going on there. I usually stand by like
Kelli:seven or eight in the summertime. It's still broad daylight then sir.
Chris:And they tried to do things that just didn't quite stick it off the way they wanted them to. So but it's it's a it's an incredible Park. He's an incredible Imagineer. And I love that they are like, come come teach us. Teach us your ways,
Kelli:consulting for universal as well. Maybe so. Maybe that's what he's a consultant.
Chris:If you know, you know,
Kelli:the consultant detective, the only one in the whole wide world consultant. Imagine here. Yeah.
Chris:But it seems like he is good for him. Good for Disney. Good for those Imagineers to get to learn, you know, from the feet of somebody like that.
Kelli:Yeah, that's absolutely fantastic. And
Chris:not sure what's going on with that earring. But you know, we all have our things. You know,
Kelli:by the way, what I have the pictures that I've seen from Imagineering on Tiana are phenomenal. So talk about Imagineers they've knocked out of the park. I believe her name Sherita I think that's right. Oh my goodness. She's killed this. She's
Chris:and she's good. She's we saw a video recently of some other stuff that she worked on. Yeah, she's she's another one.
Kelli:Yes. Good. Yes, she's killed it. Okay,
Chris:you ready for Tomorrowland? I've got so Webster's Dictionary defines dictionary defined defines an arrow file as a lover of aviation. Okay. I'm of course going to be talking about the eye catching error file balloon that you can ride in Disney Springs. Oh, of course. You didn't know that. Couldn't have seen you were so lost miles away. Oddly, you can actually see it from 10 miles away
Kelli:can airplanes it Disney what ride has airplanes maybe the barnstormer Do you ride an airplane on the barnstormer? Like I'm literally in my mind thinking? Where are their airplanes? It does.
Chris:There's no airplanes. This is this is a big hot air balloon. It's a big place. Not a
Kelli:hot air balloon. Fascinating.
Chris:It's a helium balloon. More like a dirigible. The difference being that a hot air balloon is open and you fill it with hot air. This is a helium gas filled closed balloon.
Kelli:Ah, it's closed. I didn't know it was closed. It's closed. I bet that safer than putting people in a basket under a tank of fire.
Chris:Probably properly, and it's also tethered to the ground. Right
Kelli:and there's no deflating it or anything like that. It's even when it's down on the ground. It's still insulated. Yes. Okay. That's fascinating. Okay, the arrow, it's called an arrow. It's called
Chris:the air they ride the arrow
Kelli:while you ride the arrow also
Chris:produced by a company in Paris, France called arrow file. Okay, yeah. All right. Disney describes it this way custom built for Disney by Paris based company arrow file S A. The arrow 30 is filled with 210,000 cubic feet of helium. And a sense to 400 feet.
Kelli:210,000 cubic
Chris:feet. Wow of helium
Kelli:light.
Chris:Imagine what that would do to your voice.
Kelli:That's what I mean. Thank God, it's closed. Right?
Chris:See, I am Chippendale adjacent also.
Kelli:Well, I mean, because you are because like anybody that would get off that ride would be talking like, you know, Chip and Chip and Dale.
Chris:The balloon basket holds 29 people plus one arrow file certified pilot
Kelli:29 people. I don't know that I've ever seen a large group like going up and I would have never guessed it could hold that many.
Chris:It's a it's a big basket underneath area. Each flight offers stunning panoramic vistas up to 10 miles away on clear days. So don't forget those cameras is what Disney says okay. Now, according to Walt Disney World, or WWE magazine, the era file at Disney Springs is the largest handpainted helium balloon in the world. Now, I think they're taking some liberties with the word like hand painted, right? How many hand painted versions of these are there in the world at
Kelli:hand painted helium balloons are there in the world? Exactly.
Chris:So because they have others, which we'll talk about the arrow file has put these in places other than just the
Kelli:company. Aerosol company. Okay, yeah. Yeah.
Chris:It's it's an eight minute experience. Include that includes the time to ascend and descend to 400 feet, whilst being tethered to the ground. And according to WWE magazine, you can see up to 20 miles away on a good day. Okay. Now, they took some amazing photos, as they always do, and literally, like, point out the various things that they saw from the top of their flight. Okay, that's cool. Really, just one one of them took the fly. Yeah, that's cool. So. So this was launched at Disney Springs in April of 20, of 2009. It's been around around for a minute. Back then it was known as characters in flight by Arrow file. And the balloon was sort of decorated to to show Disney characters on it. But in 2017, it was reframed, repainted, and rebranded to better fit with the vibe of the newly remodeled Disney Springs.
Kelli:Well, that's interesting. I mean, does it have any Disney callbacks? Like not really hidden, Mickey's or anything?
Chris:Yeah, not that I'm aware of?
Kelli:Well, that seems like a missed branding opportunity for Disney doesn't usually miss a branding opportunity.
Chris:Yeah, I don't know what to say. That's
Kelli:right. I mean,
Chris:yeah, I mean, he definitely decided to take the character sky
Kelli:every once in a while would be a massive branding opportunity.
Chris:And you know, it is you can see this thing, right. When you're riding around Disney proper. You can see that error file when it's flying.
Kelli:Absolutely. I think most of the times we've been to Disney Springs, it's been grounded. A
Chris:lot of times it has been what I did, we were hanging out at the Starbucks there right beside it once and I watched it go up and down quite a few times, but it will not fly during a storm or if if winds exceed 22 miles per hour. So that's why it's down a fair amount. Because you know, Florida weather is pretty, pretty fickle. Right? And I I'm great with heights.
Kelli:Oh, yeah, you are that I was about to question. Wow, this isn't a Tomorrowland segment. It's Tomorrowland implies we're going to do it.
Chris:I'll do it.
Kelli:Okay. Are you going to tell us how much this is gonna set us back?
Chris:Yeah, it's $30 per adult. And it's 24 are $25 for kid three to nine. If you're less than three, you get to go for free.
Kelli:Do they strap them in?
Chris:You're not strapped in, but it is there are guardrails and nets are all around the basket. So you can actually move around in the basket from place to place. And also they said once it gets up to a certain height, it starts to sort of rotate a little bit just on the tether that it's on. And so you're gonna probably get a whole 360
Kelli:degree situation you Yeah.
Chris:So, yeah, I would do this.
Kelli:How do you feel about the price?
Chris:I'm okay with it. Especially since DVC. Members get $10 off. Okay, that's better. 20 bucks for DVC members, and 15 for kids of DVC. Members. Okay,
Kelli:that's better. Yeah, that's better than $20 is more like what I was feeling. Yeah. 30 felt a little too high.
Chris:Do you remember the Space Needle at Kara wins? That's what I feel like this ultimately is except it goes a lot higher. Yeah. 400 feets pretty, pretty stinking high.
Kelli:Yeah. How many feet are in a mile? 5280,
Chris:which is a number that everybody knows 1700 and course. And then 1700 30 yards.
Kelli:Okay, I was just wondering how high up that so you're saying it goes up 400 feet, you
Chris:got George Washington.
Kelli:A number that everybody knows. So 400 feet. So 400 feet, so not even not even 1/5.
Chris:Still pretty high. Okay.
Kelli:It's not even it's not even 1/5 of mom just
Chris:you just do it and it blows in the wind. I
Kelli:mean, just because it's 20 blow in the wind, they don't like it if it's windy. Only
Chris:if it gets 22 miles per hour. If it's 15 miles per hour that take the thing up, and you said I've seen that tether really, really be off off kilter a little bit. If you have$2,000.27 friends to serve as witnesses, you and your significant other can get married in this thing. Yeah, that's a 30 minute flight.
Kelli:30 minute, 30 minute up and down with your full bridal party. Yes. You get married? Is the Captain Mary. I
Chris:don't know. I'm guessing one of the 27 guests has to also be ordained. No. I
Kelli:like airline pilot. I
Chris:know. I don't know can marry? I don't know. I don't know how that's
Kelli:what I wonder if like the the arrow file serves as the pilot officiant is Yeah. because that wouldn't be bad. $2,000 for an entire wedding is I think pretty. I think it's a pretty good deal. Yeah, you probably have to have a photographer. And then still, maybe there's some clothing expense. And
Chris:then and then you go to homecoming afterwards for the for the meal.
Kelli:Right? Yeah, no, I mean, I think that might not be bad.$2,000
Chris:Um, for that, when it's time to renew our vows, I know that we would need to do it on the beach at Maui or in the air fine on the 27th. I know we don't I know. I know we barely had 27 first. This Gosh, it's a little view into you. 12 and under kin 12. And over can fly by themselves. 12 and under have to have an adult. And it usually runs from 9:30am to 11pm. But obviously holidays and weather can impact that some you will not you there's no way to know if it's running without actually being there. Yeah, buy the tickets there in person right
Kelli:there. Yeah. And that would also tell you like how fast the lines gonna move. Right. Eight minutes of flight? Yeah,
Chris:that's a good point. Right.
Kelli:So if you're, you know, third or fourth in line, you're giving up an hour. Really? That's fair to buy the ticket to load everybody up. I wouldn't give up an hour at Disney or Disney. Now every hour needs to be accounted for and we've never scheduled in a balloon ride.
Chris:No, we have. I don't know that. There's always more than 30 people in line though.
Kelli:No, I don't think I've ever seen hugely long lines. That's what I'm saying. Like, like who does that? Who's I don't think they go let's get in the balloon with 27 other people.
Chris:I don't think I think about it every time I just don't ever do it because y'all are scared of heights or
Kelli:whatever. Do it because we're always running.
Chris:Some other places. Disneyland Paris, Paris proper. They have one called the generali San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. Royal Caribbean cook. Okay, you heard the balloon there. That's one of the same companies balloons. Vegas has won Dubai and a lot of others. Okay, yeah. Real quick. They also have one they have a version that doesn't it's not listed by helium. It's electric. carries you up like a coaster almost called the arrow bar. Okay, and so this takes you up to 120 feet and you serve drinks.
Kelli:How long is that right?
Chris:Yeah, I don't know. It has to be less longer than eight minutes right because this way
Kelli:it just be doing shots. Not the worst idea. is the worst idea worst day people share and give up.
Chris:You sit there, you sit down in a seat with a seatbelt, and they start serving you drinks and you go up to 120 feet, and then they bring you down.
Kelli:That's so interesting. If it's an interesting business. It just feels like there is a finite market for
Chris:desktop. There's a finite market. They, they have 120 balloons in 40 countries around the world. And I feel I don't know how many more they're going to get out there. But they've got an arrow bar in Vegas, and they've got an arrow, arrow file in Vegas.
Kelli:Okay. All right. That's cool. So I am going to Disneyland Paris in this segment. Okay. And so for that, what I wanted to do is go back to a restaurant that honestly we just stumbled on. So this is Captain Jack's restaurants in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris. Yes, we lucked out because we were walking through the park, and we come up on it, and it's like it's closed. And literally sitting on the wall outside of it. We just started, you know, messing around, and I said, this has a reservation for 6:45pm tomorrow. And we didn't have tickets for the next day. Right? And we were like, Okay, well,
Chris:let's go. Let's let's come back tomorrow. Let's do it.
Kelli:So we just literally stumbled into it. I think it was like a soft opening out of town. So here's what I will say about Captain Jack's when we saw it had been redone. So I don't know what it used to look like. Right. Okay, so I'm speaking about the current version, the redone version. The vibe is amazing. So it reminds me the closest thing we've got to it here in the States, I think is the Mexico pavilion.
Chris:Because they're not unhealed in there. Yes. Because when you walk in,
Kelli:you know, it's dark, dark, right. So you meet string lights is what it feels like. You feel transported to somewhere else. And this restaurant is called Caribbean, although I don't, I don't know that the food really meets that description, but whatever. It's called Caribbean. So as soon as you transfer, you know, walk through the doors, you are transported into what feels like a Caribbean island at night. Yeah. And you're eating on the beach. Yes, yes, exactly what it feels like. And the reason I say it reminds me a lot of Mexico is because the boat Pirates of the Caribbean ride goes through the restaurant. And in a very similar fashion to how the Mexico pavilion
Chris:fiesta. Yeah, tour
Kelli:Donald tried.
Chris:I like in the field. I think they were going for was that sort of swampy scene in the movie where they were they hook up with Tia Dalma? Okay, right. I think I think that was the vibe, both from the, from the restaurant and from the if you're on the
Kelli:ride. Yeah, no, it's really cool. I mean, I'll just say when you leave it, you leave the restaurant. It is like a stark reality. Yes, that you are not in the Caribbean.
Chris:And it's right. That's how real that's how real.
Kelli:It is. Feels like somebody smacked you in the face with the sun. Yes. That's how realistic it is. So anyway, they've got a couple of different options. They have a fixed price menu for 45 Euros, which includes a starter, a main course and a dessert. We went ala carte, because you wanted something that wasn't on the entree list. And I never get my money's worth out of a fixed price menu because I'm always gonna order the vegetarian dish. And then the dessert we wanted was not on the fixed price menu. So I want to go through and tell you a little bit about what's on the menu. I think I did this as a Tomorrowland before we went to Disneyland Paris. So now this is going to be us talking about it as we were there. Sure. So our table was right next to the fence like on the beach, right on the water right on the water is what we were in the fence is like a rope fence. I mean again, it's just it's so perfect. So for starters, they have spiced black pudding and smoked sausage with a creole style pickled vegetables. I will just say that I googled that because I didn't know was and that was a mistake. Zero stars do not recommend
Chris:eating it or googling it right.
Kelli:They also have a quinoa salad with a spicy cashew dressing. A smoked chicken chick a Talay with a green papaya, a strip ki Creole with Caribbean smashed avocado and a passionfruit dressing, cod fritters fried cassava with tamarind sauce and a Creole cabbage salad. White tutus of each day with coriander lime and fried taco. I think it's hilarious they call it fried taco and then island style fish soup all of their starters are between 17 Tonight that are felt fairly Caribbean. That felt fairly Caribbean. Yeah. And they're all again 17 to 19 euros in price. The main courses, the one that I got is the cheapest and that's the vegetable curry with lentil and plantain that was 32 euros. I went back and looked at my videos from from that, and I described it as almost like a vegetable chili. I said it had much more cumin in it than curry. But I loved it. It was it was absolutely fantastic. I absolutely loved it. I don't usually like lentil. Yeah, that's an important note. I'm not a huge fan of lentil. And so had they had another plant based option. I probably wouldn't have gotten that one because of the lentils, but it is the only plant based option. Okay, so that's what I got. And I absolutely love love loved it. You got the next thing so mine was 32 euros, yours was 38 euros and this is the grilled fillet of Oahu. Sweet potato mash and tangy multicolored carrots. Yeah, didn't Google this was Wahoo is that's beef. Right? Or is that a fish? Well, who is fish? Well, who fish? Okay, so that is 38 euros. How did you like it? Do you remember?
Chris:I don't actually remember it. I think that probably says a lot. Yeah,
Kelli:well, I looked at the video and you said it was delightful. It was delightful. You said it was really good, but it clearly didn't quite rock your world.
Chris:Here's what I think was going on there. Okay, I think I was blown away by the environment. And I was too Yes, I could not walk through and get into videos. I could not get enough still shots of like the flags and the lighting and I just couldn't get past the ambiance to really actually enjoy the food. Yeah,
Kelli:yeah, absolutely. They also have an oven baked mahi mahi with coconut salsa bell peppers for 36 euros. Caribbean chicken with prawn and the captain's rice for 36 euros. Grilled jerk pork with Caribbean citrus sauce.
Chris:I remember struggling to decide between that and the wild fish
Kelli:same price 38 euros. Then they have tender beef with tamarind sauce, sweet potatoes and jalapeno salsa. Also $38 and a grilled parrot fish fillet with spicy Creole sauce, plantain and coriander cake. That one's the most expensive that one's 41 euros. I don't know what a parrot fish is. But it feels the name to me feels endangered. And I don't think we should be eating that. You don't know that it's I don't but the fact that it's the most expensive thing on the menu I think also says just don't eat it. I'm gonna have to Google what a parrot fishes I'm looking at one right now but in any case, so all the entrees are between 32 and 41 euros. So, you know again for for what you're getting in Disneyland Paris that would be considered at you know what we would say $3 signs. At our park is three Euro signs their
Chris:largest species and very rich in the Indo Pacific so not endangered. Okay.
Kelli:Desserts. They have an island style rice pudding with a mango puree. Exotic exotic fruit soup with muscovado sugar coconut and a cashew emulsion. Tonka bean flavor chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream and a spice infused syrup. Sweet potato and caramelized pea can lava cake, shortbread roasted pineapple bourbon with with bourbon vanilla whipped cream and I sorbet Of The Seas which is 15 euros so all of their desserts are either 15 or 16 euros. I'm gonna say I went back and looked at our photo of the dessert that we ordered and I don't know which one it is. It's not the the chocolate tart it's not fruit soup. It wasn't rice pudding. It wasn't sorbet so that leaves
Chris:us well they've they've changed the menu.
Kelli:Nope I checked I took the picture the menu sweet potato and caramelized pecan lava cake, I don't know. But we definitely had whipped cream on ours. Which makes me think it was the shortbread roasted pineapple bourbon vanilla whipped cream. It looked like a rolled up you were the the cakes that Little Debbie makes swiss roll Swiss cake rolls with Swiss cake roll. But like a like a darker color cake. That's probably why we got that and cut it in half and open it up like a hot dog bun and then put a bunch of whipped cream in the middle of that us. So I'm thinking We got that and if so it is horribly described on the menu. I would not have even come close to describing that as shortbread roasted pineapple and bourbon vanilla whipped cream.
Chris:You know the menu for me felt like what you get at a Caribbean all inclusive resort at one of their on resort restaurants. Sure.
Kelli:You can celebrate your birthday there and get a birthday dessert for 35 year old lead up to eight people. There is a kid's menu, which includes a vegetable tart har pasta with tomato vegetable sauce fruit smoothie are vital. I don't even know what that is. But it's got a registered trademark next to it. And they're giving the kids coconut crusted chicken Mahi Mahi, too. So like this isn't we're not dumbing this down for the kids. Burgers and chicken strips, right. And they do have sodas and a wine selection. So we really enjoyed it.
Chris:We did it. We enjoyed the experience. The food was good. The food was not themepark food. No, no, no, no. But it's the ambiance there is really, it's the
Kelli:ambiance that blows you away that I would also describe the food is good. I would go back. Yes, yeah, ambiance that blows you away is the ambiance that always makes me look at the menu for Santa's inhale in. And but we never eat there because I don't like anything on their menu, right? But the ambiance it makes me look at their menu every single time.
Chris:You remember, the service wasn't great. No, it
Kelli:was just typical Parisian service
Chris:it was exactly. So I think we're a little spoiled here.
Kelli:No Americans are in a massive rush is what we are. Right? Americans don't slow down. Yeah, we're running to the next lightning line, the next Fast Pass the next whatever. And persuasions are not going to bring you the check until you ask for it. And you may go 20 or 30 minutes without seeing your waiter or waitress. So just something to know. Yes, they're not in a rush to turn the table and get another group in. That's not how it works. That's
Chris:right. They don't question if you walk around the place videoing?
Kelli:Yes. Well, and I think you know, to there's a big difference in restaurant culture in Europe than there is here because they pay their their folks that work in restaurants living wages. They don't make them sing for tips. So that could be it too. Right? They're not interested in turning the table over as fast because they don't need the next tip. I'm getting paid by the hour no matter how many people sit at this table. So I wouldn't say the service is bad. I would say it's typical Parisian service. Yeah, that's probably a fair point. Not typical Disney service. Yep. Yeah,
Chris:but it was delightful highly recommend Absolutely. Food was was good for for Park food
Kelli:for sure. Absolutely.
Chris:I would probably equate it to the food that we got a skipper canteen.
Kelli:Oh yeah, absolutely. All right. But loves.
