The primary event schedule is August 9 10th and 11th in Anaheim. Here's some statements from the 23. For the first time de 23. The ultimate Disney fan event will expand beyond the Anaheim Convention Center for the largest footprint and event history with events and programming throughout the City of Anaheim including the first ever D 23. Day at Disneyland Resort on August the eighth the day before it officially starts. Three than there's three nights of larger than life showcase events at the Honda Center on the ninth 10th and 11th. And the 23 day at Angel Stadium for the angels baseball team will be on August the fourth spreading the love they are so go go for the whole week. And have a great time. Okay, the Disney experiences division. These are the parks people. Okay? This is Josh DeMarco, where he's you know, all eyes are on that guy every time he takes the stage. And then in recent years, he's been way too vague, I think for folks. Blue sky dream and what might we do behind big thunder? There's lots of land over there

The Disney experiences division will be featured prominently in addition to hosting a Walt Disney Imagineering pavilion, showcasing the future of the theme parks Disney has announced the name for Disney experiences Chairman Josh Tamara's keynote presentation. It's called horizons Disney experiences showcase. This will take place on Saturday August 10 at the Honda Center, and he will welcome fans as he takes the stage with surprise stars and special guests for a live celebration of music and creativity and power of our stories. And of course, news and updates about projects in development around the world. The future is bright for Disney experiences it

Every time I see pictures of him I'm like he's over like Disneyland over Disneyland but this is d 23 is in Anaheim so can pop rock should definitely be involved say it again. Kim pop rock Oh, that's what you call them. First time you were like rock or what did you say his name he's just like, glazed over I can pop rock out at Disney landed up like what what? But now he's every he is he's pot rock forever on this podcast.

Which syllable is the investor song? Okay, all right. It's not where I thought that segment was gonna go but okay. Disney and the Oriental Land Company are partnering once again. So the Oriental Land Company is the Japanese based company that actually owns and operates the Disney parks in Japan. Right. They're coming back together. Here's the official announcement today, but when they announced it's been a couple of weeks now, we announced a new agreement with the Oriental oriental Land Company Limited that will bring year round Disney cruise vacations to Japan. Quote, Disney Cruise Line has ambitious plans to bring family vacations and Disney storytelling to more guests around the world that ever before said Josh dimauro, Chairman of Disney experiences. I'm sure this will be in the horizons thing that he talks about. We are thrilled to continue the success of this expansion as we collaborate with the Oriental oriental Land Company to introduce another distinctly Disney vacation experience to families and fans in Japan. Then said you make a to Cano a representative director and chairperson and CEO for the Oriental Land Company. I am sincerely proud that Disney and oriental land will be able to work together to create a world class cruise business in Japan. We will use their know how from the theme park business to continue pushing boundaries and provide family entertainment cruise experiences filled with inspiration and surprise. I doubt this thing gets launched before next year. Like I think they actually are going to there's a new boat that's currently being built in Germany now that will be the Japan ship. And I don't think that's gonna happen before we make it to Japan. Right at least I hope not. Because that means we've gone to Japan pretty quickly. Right? So you're still leaning towards Japan for your we've never really talked about that on the podcast. But yeah,

these nonprofits work with Disney or

their various like the Boys and Girls, boys and girls clubs and such. These are all Florida based. Right? Right. And they all had different missions and things to accomplish. In years past there was one my one of these may two but there was one that dedicated their their work to providing prosthetics for children. Mm hmm. Right, right. So Yeah, this was really cool. So the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida, Camp Boggy Creek and I can't remember what it is they actually do. Children's Home Society of Florida, the Girl Scouts of the citrus Council lift Orlando marine Discovery Center and the Orlando Science Center all received $500,000 grants. What was really cool though, was that they invited them all to a show back on July the 12th. They invited them all to a show, like representatives of these places, all to a show who could do like a special here. We're gonna honor you with this, this special showing of the whoop dee doo review. That's fine. They had no idea that we're going to receive these

grants. Oh, wow. That's fine. How

awesome is that? That's cool. Like you get to go. You're having your meal. Oh, what a nice thing. What am I seeing they did for us? Oh, by the way, here's $500,000 Go see what you can do with that. That's great. I love that. So fantastic. Yep. So that's all I had on the on the things to discuss.

I'm I'm really through the Japan out there idea out there to myself as itself. You said I'd say go somewhere that you've never been before for your 50th because we've been talking a lot about I turned 50 Next year, then it's our 20th wedding anniversary, I turn to turn 50 some things on the agenda here planted out Yeah. And it out. I set it to myself and then I've been sleeping on it to see if I still write into the idea and it's been about a week now and you're still still stealing. I told it that I wanted a couple of days at each the Disney Parks I told Chad GPT

Yeah, I think we you don't want to go to Japan and then not have time to do everything at the park. Oh,

great. So what at least two days in each part? Yeah, I wanted some cultural stuff. There's that park there. We can feed the deer, you know, right out of your hand. I want to do that. Some of the shrines that are really cool. Want to see Kyoto, you want to

Kelli:

ride the train? And I wonder I had the bullet train? Yeah, I want to ride that bullet sort of beyond just a Disney trip. Yeah,

Chris:

but I want to go to the beaches. I've got some amazing beaches in Okinawa. So I think I'd like to see those two protocols. So I don't want to waste an opportunity to go to a beach. Yeah, now that they are apparently so scarce in the world. Beaches, beaches.

Kelli:

So I mean, I'll say to that, as we've been looking at sort of some big trips coming up. We've also priced out Disney cruises. Recently we have and I told you, I was like either they have decreased their pricing or other cruise lines have increased their pricing to match or we just didn't understand the pricing. Or we didn't but I was I was talking to a friend this week, who's very into Royal Caribbean, they go on a lot of Royal Caribbean cruises, and she told me Royal Caribbean has definitely increased their pricing. Oh, interesting. So I think it's interesting that Disney Cruise Lines is very in line with most of the cruise prices we've seen

Chris:

are like what we would typically have done in the past, right?

Kelli:

And they listed all inclusive for the cabin on their website. Whereas a lot of cruise lines listed per person. If you do the math, if you do the math, it actually works out to be very similar. And I know we've done the math before it it didn't. So

Chris:

next year is looking very busy, but I am with you on the idea that it would be nice to try to fit in at Disney treasure.

Kelli:

Absolutely. I'm for it. All right a percent. So planning some fun trips coming up.

Chris:

I know so. Okay, so we're doing something to kind of fun. This week, I'm Tomorrowland, your World Showcase. But we're effectively we've got the same topic. Yep. Today is two national days that I'm going to, for the purposes of this say near and dear to our hearts national junk food day. And National Ice Cream day. That's today. So I the 21st National Junk Food Day National Ice Cream day. So what we did was, we said okay, let's talk about the what would be considered junk food at the Disney Parks Walt Disney World. That's counter service, right? This is your counter service restaurant, although the food is significantly higher quality typically. Right? And what are the best ice cream places? Right. So I was going through the lists, Disney food blog was huge help on our ice cream list. And Disney tourists blog was huge help on our counter service list. Okay, and so I was going through and I decided to take all the ones that were new that I've not ever been to right and you've got the ones that are that we haven't been to so you're gonna I'm gonna go through mine here for Tomorrowland. All right. Alright, I'm gonna start start with the top junk food slash counter service counter service. Okay? It's such a nicer way to say junk food it is. And honestly, the food that they have is better than junk food typically, right? Especially some of the ones you'll see us talk about here. Okay, first and foremost, again, thanks to the Disney tourist blog for this segment, the ABC commissary. Now, I have actually eaten there before, but my grandmother was still alive and going to Disney Parks a long, long, long time. And at that time, there were not a lot of other options to eat or Hollywood Studios. So I will put that on this list. And we hear over and over and over again. Yeah, how surprisingly good the fare is at the ABC commissary?

Kelli:

Well, I mean, every time we talk about things on their menu, I'm like, this is such a black horse like, yes, you just you just don't see it coming.

Chris:

Yeah. And the restaurant just kind of comes across as boring. You know, the look. It's not a great thing. There but that may have something to do. Why we don't go there.

Kelli:

Yeah, well, I mean, there's just so many other options that Hollywood Studios now there are

Chris:

all right, and then there's some that we love. Yeah, right. Yeah. But all who do inter come out raving about their food. And I know they had one of the best plant based burgers supposedly, supposedly in all the parks. Think buffalo grilled chicken. Buffalo Chicken grilled cheese, though. And you can sell me on that pretty? Yeah, pretty easily. Okay, primo piatto. At Riviera. This is a quick service at reveres is down there near where the pool is. Strong and you serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Riviera is wonderful. So it's it's going to be good. I'm sure it's the only quick service place they have their they don't have like a food court like some of the other places, right? Well, they do have the coffee shop. That will be a little coffee shop with the pastries. Breakfast that's just open for breakfast. That's right. And it's mostly pastries and coffee and tea, right. Yeah. I saw on the menu here. Blueberry lemon pancakes. Wow. And low fat sounds real good.

Kelli:

Gosh, that sounds delightful. I can't

Chris:

wait to try that. They have frittatas on the menu. They have a lemon ricotta cheesecake. On the menu, which Yeah, that speaks to my that's one of my love languages. lemon ricotta cheesecake. Yeah. And also beef bolognese. At a quick service place. Yeah, no, that's

Kelli:

pretty straight. Yeah, that's nice.

Chris:

Okay. Columbia harbor house. This is reopened, recently reopened. Again, this is one that I went to probably 40 years ago. Right. It's not the same restaurant. It was back then there was lots of chicken tenders. They had the Monte Cristo sandwich, which is all my grandma ever got there. But consistently considered one of the best quick service locations on the property. It's mostly seafood, which does distinguish it from a lot of the other places. You're not gonna get seafood at a counter service place all that often. And like lobster rolls, grilled salmon and things like that. It also might offer the single best escape from the park for a cool restful spot. Because you go in there and there's an upstairs. And when you're walking from fantasyland to Liberty Square, you go underneath this is awning. The site looks like a covered walkway. It does look a little short covered walkway. That seating up there for the Columbia harbor house. So they get these great Windows you can see down on the folks but it's nice and cool. Yeah. All right. And this one actually taught the overall list for Disney tourists blog in terms of counter service, the polite pig. This is a written dessert Disney Springs. I technically have eaten there I had their meatballs with with grits. They're all right. But there's way more on the menu than that. Yeah, this was actually their top pick overall. And they are actually a winner. So the Michelin star people the people give out the Michelin stars. They they also will give out what they call bib gourmand awards to places I say how do they the winner of a bib gourmand award. This honors good quality good value restaurants that is universally approachable bid garmont award winners are those that deliver stellar quality at prices in line with the local cost of living and so big shocking that

Kelli:

anything at Disney got that? Let's just be honest,

Chris:

the food is expensive, it is expensive. So but the polite pig won one of those awards from wow so that speaks very high. Elliot that's

fantastic. Yeah, and it's barbecue,

which is also great. You love barbecue. Yeah,

absolutely.

Okay, so now I'm moving on to the top ice cream places. I gotta move pretty quick here. All right. swirls on the water at Disney Springs. They offer dole whips, including specialty and introductory flavors. You can even get a dough with flight. Oh, that's a nice right you get a little. You get like three little three little martini glasses filled with different flavors. Cute. Yeah, so swirls on the water at Disney's very cute. Both of our lists here are going to be dealt with centered early on. So following that theme, the 10 to 10 Mu refreshments at Animal Kingdom. You can get dough whips. There. This is in the Africa location there. You can get dough whips here with coconut rum, which does sound great. They're known for their Simba sunset, which is a regular pineapple Dole Whip, but topped with watermelon, strawberry and coconut syrups. But no ROM, not not not in that one. Although, although, underage, guaranteed. Depends on which symbol we're talking about. Could be the symbol at the end of the movie. It could be right. But, but I imagined that they would not you know shun you for saying switch out that coconut syrup for the coconut rum they would use animal care

Kelli:

free with the animal kingdom and Epcot, man, you get what you want. Yes, right. Yes, it's always right.

Chris:

Especially as the guests so the guests ask for alcohol is walking around with kids. There's like here you need to

Kelli:

double. You want to make that a double. I love it when they asked me that.

Chris:

Okay, next on my list is the fountain. This is at the swan and dolphin resorts described as a hidden gem and a must do apparently the caramel apple sundae is an absolute star. Wow. Additional little soda fountain, you know, ice cream shop. That sounds great. The caramel apple Sundae. Now what I want to know is what they put that into a blender with a little bit of milk and smoosh it up into a milkshake so I can get the apple pie milkshake that I've been chasing down for 20 years now. It's been a

Kelli:

minute it really has has

Chris:

this was gonna I think maybe this one might surprise people. Okay. Beaches and Cream. There you and I have never been there. Oh, I was surprised about that. Yeah, no, we haven't been we've never been there. It's over the yacht and beach club resorts another classic Soda Shop not far from the fountain honestly. table service environment that's, that's different and good. I'd like that. Go in there and get your thing and get

Kelli:

the kitchen sink thing you need. You need to table for that. Yes.

Chris:

And so as I said, obviously they're famous for their $35 kitchen sink is a Sunday that serves four with scoops of vanilla chocolate strawberry cookies and cream and mint chocolate chip. Then smothered in every topping you can get it peaches and cream. All right. Okay, last one on the list. The newbie, salt and straw at Disney. Yeah, there's a there's a million ice cream and a lot of places.

Kelli:

Salt and straw has amazing reviews. Yeah.

Chris:

Super unique ice cream flavors. Made with handmade ice cream source with local organic and sustainable ingredients. Think Matilda's hibiscus and coconut sherbet. I got some great names here. Honey lavender ice cream. Strawberry, honey balsamic with black pepper. Ice cream. Yes. Yes. Cinnamon and Honey fried chicken. Or deviled egg custard and smoked black tea. Well, that will turn you off.

Kelli:

That one's a no. Not Want deviled egg ice cream.

Chris:

It's good sir.

Kelli:

It's a no it's enough. That one's a no. All right. Yeah.

Chris:

So your turn for your take on places we've actually visited some

Kelli:

World Showcase. So I'll start at counter surface that we visited. So the first is Captain Cooks as the Poli now Captain Cooks, I think is also a dark horse. You think of it when you go in? burgers, chicken. They have all that they have that but they also have a very strong Asian flair. So just a few things that's on their menu right now. spicy Korean chicken bowl for 1299 Aloha pork sandwich for 1199 Thai coconut meatballs for 1040 and I've had those are delicious my personal favorite the pan asian noodles and vegetables for 1029 So great are off the twin we stay at the poly we Captain Cooks on a regular basis. We're there almost every day love Captain Cooks

Chris:

will go in there to get something even if we're not staying there. Because we always run over to the tiki Anyway, right?

Kelli:

Yeah, you gotta spend the money somewhere Gasparilla Island grill at the Grand flow. Now I've been here it's been a while. This they've done a huge overhaul here in the last few years new menu items, bolts, flatbreads, burgers, etc. But what I wanted to focus on here is the desserts A which is what I had when I went to the Gasparilla Island grill. So they have a Mickey chocolate shoe, which is a chocolate pet a shoe filled with chocolate Chantilly cream. Oh for 679 I'll have to then they have a blueberry custard cupcake, a vanilla cupcake filled with blueberry pie filling and pastry cream topped with vanilla buttercream 579. I'll have that as well. And then on the side, I will have a marshmallow pecan brownie which is a chocolate brownie filled with sugared pecans and caramel sauce topped with chocolate ganache and toasted marshmallows for 529. year

I was thinking that that other thing was my love language

Kelli:

right when the guest Rhode Island grill definitely has you know the regular food but we went for dessert. That's what I remember it for. And when I looked at the menu, I was like yes, that's it. Yeah. Next up is flame tree grill at Animal Kingdom. This is this is a big favorite. Right you love fame tree grill. Disney tourists blog says that the St. Louis ribs might be the single best food offering in all of WWE. Now, I mean, I get it. I don't agree that I get it but, but just a little bit. Right. So what everybody talks about is the baked macaroni and cheese with the pool. porks okay, right 1249 baked macaroni and cheese stuck up topped with smoked pulled pork crispy onions and coleslaw. And it's it looks amazing. That's what you see pictures up. They also sell a whole half a chicken. Yes here. Marinated slow cooked chicken with signature baked beans and coleslaw for 1379. I'm going to assume that that's like on a bone. But what I would eat the hair is they have impossible burnt ends. What I know serve with french fries and a vinegar based crunchy slaw for 1220 I

love to try that impossible. Is that also?

I gotta try that. I've got to try. Okay, next up

Kelli:

is sunshine seasons. This is the food court over in the land. Yes. We go there really almost every trip almost every trip we get something they love to go to Sunshine seasons, locations Great. Sometimes you have to fight for a table. But they also have a really diverse offering of foods. So like right now on their menu they've got oat grilled rotisserie chicken oat grilled salmon, stir fried shrimp roast beef sandwich, and my personal fave is Mediterranean veggie sandwich. They're also a dark horse for desserts very much so drinks milk shakes, things like that.

Chris:

During this festivals don't sleep on sunshine seasons don't have some really good foods in there.

Kelli:

They do some really cool stuff during festival Yeah, but it is very nicely air conditioned good seedings plenty of seating close to Soren close to live and with land right if that's you know what you want to do and I am like completely and all the fact that a lot of the veggies are

Chris:

grown there right then right there is a huge selling point love that's pretty cool. Yeah,

Kelli:

it's cool. And then next is subtly canteen. We keep saying we're going to do a special on this and we need to because it's so so good. This is a build your own food bowl. And so there's a lot of different takes on this with me or what have you. I had the chili spice crispy fried tofu ball, which is crispy fried tofu. Nobody does tofu like Disney. If you're sitting there saying it. Then try to Disney you will not regret it.

Chris:

I'm an Itosu person, but I'm here to tell you it's good that junk is taste it's good. It's

Kelli:

crispy fried tofu season with chili spice topped with a crunchy vegetable slaw and boba balls served with your choice of base and sauce. So base is going to be like do you want lettuce? Do you want noodles? Do you want rice and then sauce? They have a bunch of different flavors. I ate that like it had personally offended me. There were four of us it was so good.

Chris:

There were four of us we all got bowls we all made our own bowls and it was like the quietest moment at our table ever. It

really was it was every bowl was empty at the end of it. It was so good. And last but not least docking bay seven now y'all know I'm a huge fan of the captain hummus platter right but they also have been to and beef and crispy tomato tuna poke at other types of

what what kind of service are you getting somewhere in a theme park where you get tuned up? Okay, right

Kelli:

OCADU pork ribs so this is pork ribs butcher they tangy barbecue sauce served with blueberry corn muffin and a red cabbage slaw and

I'll say about that either that's crazy crazy I'll say about that he the the same writer that said that the St Louis ribs and flame tree were the best single item on property said although you might prefer these docking bay seven they

Kelli:

also have fried chicken tip yep hot chicken tip and a roasted in Dorian chicken salad so I mean like they really bring it at docking bay seven like don't sleep on that it's really really good and I get it there's so many great places to eat at Hollywood Studios but just do not miss docking by set by the

Just a quick rundown they have 13 Different Sundays, six different shakes seven different types of hot cocoa, and 16 different types of coffee beverages and soda. Heck yeah, man, like are you kidding me? And those Sundays. Ah,

I know. I know. I've had some days there's so many times. It's been there for all of the different iterations of Disney Springs and marketplace. And despite the fact that there are you can't count all the places for ice cream and gelato at Disney Springs. Euro deli always has a line always always say something it

says a lot. We've also got the plaza ice cream store at Magic Kingdom right there on Main Street. Again, it's another place it's always going to have a line Yes, that's fine just waiting the line you won't regret it does move fast it moves fast. This is the place where you're gonna get the the big huge cookie Ice Cream Sandwich. So two chocolate chip cookies that are warm with your choice of ice cream and fresh baked so so good. Here I will say to if you don't want to get the huge 35 Scoop sink at peaches and cream. They have a Mickey sink Sunday here at Plaza for only 1899. Right so it's better price than whatsoever peaches and cream. It's your choice of any two flavors of hand scooped ice cream topped with hot fudge or caramel whipped cream in Two Cherries. So it's it's meant to be a two person kind of a situation to pick up many Beaches and Cream is really meant to kill you. They also have milkshakes and they have a smores shake with a hand at chocolate ice cream cone top with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate sauce. That's the smores che. Last but not least, the artisan days glass is over in the French pavilion. Now here's where you're gonna get you've got two options here. Do not even read the rest of the menu people you're gonna latch on it, you're gonna be like there's so many things on this menu. There's not there's two things on the menu stream and look at the rest. The first one is the quote glass a quote glass A. That's going to be your scoop of whatever you want with whatever salts you want. smushed in a homemade brioche press warm for $9.50 That's that's the answer. Rune. Don't get it.
