The last two verses of Matthew 7 reveal quite a bit about Jesus and the effect He had on those who heard him. Matthew 7:28-29 says, "When Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teachings, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes." In His departing remarks to His disciples, Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."
