SPEAKER_02Hello and welcome to another special edition of the 20 Minutes to Post Podcast. My name is Max. Nate and Josh joining me as always, ready to rip into some of this weekend's racing and recap the weekend that was and the weekend before that, because we had days one and two of the championships done and dusted. And boys, oh, what a carnival uh we've had so far in Sydney. Of course, we've got one more uh big Saturday this weekend, couple group ones to focus on, but let's just go back over the last couple weeks. The Doncaster, she's an alibi, she was huge, and then we go to the QE as well and Autumn Glow, she has her colours lowered. Sir Delius gets the big dub, gets the uh picket fence gown. Um, boy, oh boy, what do we do with this race? I mean, it was absolutely enormous effort from Sir Delius. You have to give all the credit there as Autumn Glow wasn't able to make it 12 from 12. Wow, what a weekend of race we had, Nathan.
SPEAKER_01How are you doing? Yeah, doing great, Maxi. Like you said, colours lowered, but not disgraced, was she? She was brave in defeat. Her first time at 2,000 metres. But I mean, you get that SP, you get$1.30,$1.40, and your critics are going to come out from the woodwork. Uh look, we've been talking about a uh, well, everyone's been talking about an ad nauseum, baby winks and all that talk. Yes, you know, it's one of those things where I think you just have to say full credit Cer Delius on the day. He was phenomenal, up on speed, hot tempo, rock hard fit grand final day, and was able to kick clear, hang on. And from a fast finishing Linderman of all horses, one of ours, well, definitely one of yours, Maxie. Uh we know that. Nash riding that horse to perfection, obviously bounding over the top of Autumn Glow. But Autumn Glow, she was very good. Hopefully you got a plush y odd course there, boys. Uh, last week if you were there, because I know Maxie did. Uh, but look, she um she's still obviously very, very talented. And I do think, I think it was Luke Marlowe actually brought up a really good point today. Uh on uh I saw it on the socials. Talking about now, okay, the winning streak's gone. Now we can have some fun with her. You know, now we can sort of forget about the winning streak. It's not about that anymore. Now it's going to be about can she go first up to an Everest? Does she end up as a royal escort horse maybe in 12 months' time? Things like that now come into play. And I think you made a really, really good point, a valid point. Despite, obviously, we'd love to have an undefeated like a black caviar over the staying trips and things like that. Sometimes it doesn't come to fruition. As good as Sir Delius was and as good as she was, there were some really great performances throughout the championship boys. So keen to dive into it. Josh, obviously, uh Autumn Glow, um, you know, she was meant to be, I suppose, the the big horse on the rise. And yes, she uh got defeated, but I don't think she lost too many admirers. How'd you see it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, very interesting. Race. She was there to win if she was good enough, but uh Gay Wardhouse, Andrea and Bott just peaks her dealius on the day. The would have been Cox plate favourite of last year that didn't get to make the field because of the Melbourne Cup scans, comes back this prep third up and spoils the party for favourite backers. And it uh left people with a very interesting question. Who is the best weight for age horse in Australia? Is it Autumn Glow still? Is it Sir Delius? I want to make the case for Aeliana. I mean, her back-to-back weight for age wins were pretty impressive, and both uh Aeliana and Sir Delius are one apiece at Wait for Age over 2,000. Obviously, Sir Delius winning the Turnbull down there in Flemington last prep. Now the Queen Elizabeth. They're obviously probably the stronger races, but Aliana do weak backup Ranford into Tancred. That's a pretty good uh wait for age uh performance there by her. So I think it's a bit wide open, but I think I don't think we'll see Autumn Glow and the Cox played, unfortunately. It'd be interesting to see what they do now with John Masara and the camp there. But she was brave. Boy, old Linderman, what a race that horse went outstanding, Maxier. Could not believe Linderman getting over the top there of Autumn Glow late. And I think if they had their time over again, they wouldn't have put the blinkers on Duby on it. Just raced a bit keen and didn't have that turn the foot over 2,000 metres late. But uh all honors to Sir Delius, the horse peaked on the day and was too good for them at Wayfrage over 2,000 metres. I wonder how much those uh plushies are worth now, Maxi.
SPEAKER_02Oh, not the 25 that I spent for it on the day, uh, unfortunately. Um, yeah, might be going a little bit cheaper, but I can take the silks off. Um, so yeah, it could potentially be another horse with a boldy white face. Um, yeah, oh mate. Love the plushie. Uh might make a good uh toy for the dog. Um but um no, it all honest Sir Delius. And I want to touch just more on Sir Delius because what does his campaign look like now? Goes up to Queensland most likely, contests a few big um middle distance races up there, like your Duman Cup and your QE up there as well. Then coming back down to Melbourne, look, all the talk this, you know, Sir Delius last year didn't make it towards a Cox plate, didn't make it towards a Melbourne Cup because of some scans uh and the racing Victoria bets um basically forced the horse to be scratch and not compete in those races. Do we think a Sir Delius could have really given the last Cox plate a bit of a splash? Um I mean, if that's the kind of performance that he can put on the board, I mean that was enormous. I mean he put some of the best weight for age horses in our division over 2,000 metres to the test, plus an Autumn Glow who was undefeated. And yes, I think Autumn Glow, 2,000 metres, that really saw her out. Um I think she's better at that 1400 to the mile sort of distance. But but outside of that, I mean Cerdilius did his campaign was probably a little underwhelming because his first two runs didn't quite get the chocolate, especially the start prior um in the Ranvet. But I mean he he he's on top of the top of the world right now for our horses over 2,000 metres, Josh. Like surely he would have given a Cox plate a huge splash. And even a Melbourne Cup, uh given fair running, um he was right there in the market. He was favourite in the Melbourne Cup when he got scratched. Like he was right there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. You have to think Sir Dilius would have gone close in both those rows, if not one, the Cox played the way it was going. I mean, it beat Fierce Sistina home in the turnball going into the Cox play last year, and we saw how tight that margin was to Fierce Sistina last year. So I've uh I have little doubt that Sir Dilius would have been riding the finish of the Cox play last year, but the horse is still going good, which is the positive thing. And with the Cox plate being at Flemington over the 2,000 metres this year, I think they're definitely going towards a Cox plate uh in the spring. And uh Race Victoria's already said that because it's not going to a Melbourne Cup, it's past its scans now and it's all good to go heading towards a Melbourne for a Cox plate. So the Cox plate's still looking a good field. You got Surdilius. I would assume the prep looks like for Aliana, I reckon a Cox plate into a Melbourne Cup.
SPEAKER_02That sounds like that's apparently the um gonna be the go. Because you would have thought, like, oh, she might be a cups horse, maybe even try and avoid a Serdelius altogether. But apparently, yep, Cox plate into a Melbourne Cup after that, and she's now Melbourne Cup favourite because of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I I get that as well. You've got half yours that's returning this weekend that um I believe is aiming at a Cox plate next prep as well, and then if the rumors are right and fingers crossed, even a horse like Calandigan from overseas possibly coming down for a Cox plate. So it still looks a very strong race, even though I don't think we're gonna see all them glow there, Nathan.
SPEAKER_01No, I tend to agree. I just think we all saw she peaked on the run, didn't she? She was excellent, uh, you know, in defeat. But I think Mile, sort of 1600 metres, that's her go. Uh, any further than that, maybe, maybe in the future, maybe we can see her stretch out again. They might have to sort of go to that 2,000 metre point at some point if they want to sort of take on that genuine weight for age company, but until they have to, you know, the sort of early in the prep, you know Mackay Divas and races like that come to mind over 1600 metres, big track at Flemington. Those are the ones that really make sense to me. Um, yeah, Josh?
SPEAKER_03No, I was just gonna ask, so interesting. What do you think Autumn Flow's prep's gonna be? Because I've heard people say she'll stick at the mole races like a King Charles champion's mole. Um, but I've heard other people say she might they might want to make her a sprinter and go towards an Everest. So it's interesting the couple of different viewpoints we're again. What do you boys make of that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, sorry, Max, here you go. I think Basara has talked in the past that he sees Autumn Glow as more of a sprinter rather than the 2000 metre type, and was really pushed and encouraged by Chris Waller and J Mac in particular to try her over the 2000. Um that was where the main voice was pushing her out in that distance. Whereas him at from the Arrowfield camp are more in the opinion that she is a better served sprinter. And look, Arrowfield, they've got a slot in the Everest, they'd love to obviously have one of their own filling that um position, and why not have a crack? Um look, replacing in terms of the carnival makes it a little bit tricky, but if you go into you know early in a preparation, go into wards and Everest, and then maybe try and aim to go for maybe a mile, the the champion's mile, on the last day of the Flemington Carnival. Um that could potentially be a race that she could potentially peek in. Um there's also the uh what is it, even the Matriarch as well on the first day of the carnival week back back up into that race. I I think they might look towards more of a Melbourne campaign, um, potentially with their carnival going ahead. But then there's also rumours as well that because Masara is a bit more of a breeding man that he might retire early, um, which would be a real shame to see. Um, like if we don't get to see she's an alibi or line up against Autumn Glow over a 1400 metres over a mile, that would be devastating, I guess, for racing. But um, yeah, Autumn Glow, interesting preparation ahead, um, Nathan, because I I I really think they're gonna keep her over the sprint trips. I don't think she'll ever see anything over a mile ever again. Um, but yeah, it it would have to wait and see how she pulls up after coming back uh from a bit of a spell.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. I tend to agree, Maxie. I think it'd be interesting, wouldn't it? Could you imagine Autumn Glow first up into an Everest against King Rising? Or maybe even G.
SPEAKER_02She's second in the betting at the moment against King Rising in the Everest. Um, I think she's tied with Tempted.
SPEAKER_01Here's another one, boys. We say they won't meet, but why not she's an alibi and an Everest? Would that be totally out of the question? Could she show up to a race like that? That way you can still do your golden eagle prep as well. So just an interesting thought there. You know, it's just something that you can sort of throw to the wolves. It probably won't happen. But, you know, look, uh, I think again, I think this is the big talking point out of Autumn Guy getting defeated, is that now we don't have to think about, okay, what's the perfect prep to keep her on that undefeated streak going? They can throw some caution to the wind, they can geez go to the paddock and and sort of reassess now and really think about what the future holds for her. So that's the exciting part for her. Yeah. Uh to your point, Josh, just very quickly on Ariana. Absolutely flying at the moment, isn't she? And like you said, you can tie her form lines into Serdelius, you can tie them into Via Sistina and 2,000 meter wait for aid superstar type. She's going so, so good. We saw that when she was running into Autumn Glow over those shorter trips. So she's going very, very well and interesting. You talk about the path to the Melbourne Cup, Coxplate, Melbourne Cup. Where have we seen that before for Chris Waller? Very elegant. So he's done it before and could easily do it again. So uh very interesting one that uh hopefully we do see Sir Dilius go to uh the Coxplate um and get there fair and square, and then uh who knows, maybe impress onto a Melbourne Cup because I might have had an early ticket on him, but that's not the point.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, no, that's it. Um other big wins and other big results as well across the whole weekend, uh the two weekends rather, day two, have to look at the Queen of the Turf and Idle Flyer, Zachy Lloyd gets another group one there for Matt Smith. Um Idol Flyer promised plenty to the camp there for Matt Smith, gets past Lady Shannando and Treasure of the Moment, um, and then Pride of Jenny ends up finishing out in fifth, I think it was across the line. But yeah, Idlefly, now group one winner. Um, does it against her own sex, but boy, that was ultra impressive, mate.
SPEAKER_01No, the setup was perfect though, wasn't it? It was just one of those races where you look back and you just think, geez, how have I missed this? The setup in terms of how it unfolded. And I think you, Max, you messaged the chat post race and it was a perfect comment. It was JMack trying to beat Pride of Jenny, and then Idle Flyer begin and getting that lovely suck run in behind Lady Shenandoah. If you switch the runs, I think Lady Shannando wins the race. I think it's just one of those races where one of the horse got the better run in transit. And Lady Shannando, she wasn't off the bridle until the last 300, but she was just cooked because she had to chase that speed that Pride of Jenny was producing. Prior to Jenny dropped back, as she does tend to do, sometimes she can hold that extra length or two, but unfortunately for those backers couldn't quite sustain the run, and Idle Fly was just trucking in behind. Great ride by Zach. Let that speed go. Followed the best horse, in my opinion, the best horse in the race, and Lady Shannon Dala peeled off its back and proved too good. Treaty at the moment as well, Josh, I thought was good. Uh, but look, Idlefly deserving of that win. Last preparation, I think we all agreed the Empire Rose was probably just a stretch too far for her in that campaign. It sort of all came a bit too soon, but this has been perfectly timed by Matt Smith.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't think we'll see Idlefly go back down to Melbourne. I don't think they need to. There's enough prize money here in Sydney. This horse loves Ramwick, loves the mole, so they'll definitely stay here. Prior to Jenny, I think she was found wanting after two very tough runs there down in Melbourne. I think she just didn't go again third up. She ran a credible fifth, but uh yeah, just couldn't sustain that tempo from the 2000 back to the mole. Lady Shenandoah was a great run, but when you're carting a field into a race like that, you're always going to be vulnerable late. So Sack Lloyd just following J Mac was the perfect run. But the one we ever mentioned, she's a hustler first up, was enormous there over the mole in the Queen of the Turf. Now, I assume they're going to a Hollandale Doom and Cup prep. And uh this horse could definitely break through Group 1 level, either this prep or next prep. This horse went outstanding in that race and uh definitely one to follow right there next to Treasure the Moment. Treasure the Moment was a good run. I just don't think she's lived up to those early expectations right now. When she was undefeated, won the finery, won the Oaks, then she came back first up and demolished the field with Mr. Bright side there over the 1400 metres at Corfield. Then she got that little setback, and she just I just don't think she's been the same horse since. She's good, but I don't think she's gonna reach that potential of superstar that everyone was thinking that she was gonna get to. But there's definitely races with that Matt Lorick and uh Shahr and uh find for her. Nice races there. And she could even win another group one, but I just don't think she's going gone to that next level that we thought she would. Lay Shin and Dell's got a race on her as well. But um, yeah, very good race. And uh I think the horse that got the right run in transit won the race. So all credit to Sack Lloyd and Maddie Smith with Idle Fly getting the breakthrough group one.
SPEAKER_02Um also full credit has to go to Chrissy Lees as well with Jason Collett teaming up, changing the guard, wins at Sydney Cap, uh Osha uh Australian Oaks, Ohope wins, got the victory there for J Mac and Chris Waller. Um but the race in between, tempted, that was a huge win over the in the Arrowfield sprint there. She's all systems go, she's got a group one to her name. So look, aiming for this race, she got the big victory there, so she heads towards an Everest going forward. Um can't wait to see her back in the spring. It's a shame we didn't get to see her in a TJ because um she would have given that race a real splash going back to day one. Boys um Jolly Starr managed to get their number. J. McAwalla, what more to say? She heads on towards Royal Ascot. Um probably won't be I don't know. Uh it's a big arse to get her to go over to Royal Ascot and then come back over here in time for an Everest. Um I don't think she's right up to that, but Royal Ascot. Oh, I mean, Royal Ascot. I mean, geez, I can't wait to see her go abroad, Josh. Um she's gonna make a real crack of that um 1200 metre race on the last day of the Jubilee.
SPEAKER_03Well, that was just the little tick that she needed winning that TJ because it was on ground she's not that suited to soft ground. And to beat home Gigakick, and Gigakick beat Joel ESTAR home in the champion sprint. Now that was a heavy deck. I don't think uh Joel ESTA wants to borrow a heavy deck, but to get that TJ uh win the grand final in Australia before going over, I think that was a key indicator that Joel ESTA's going as good as she ever has going over the Royal Ascot. And but the thing I love even more is that um potentially we've got five horses going over the Royal Ascot this year. And I'm I'm I think it's great. We've got Joelie Starr confirmed, we've got uh Overpass, I think's confirmed to go to Royal Ascot as well. Lady of Camelot gonna be going over there, and then if they get through to Robert Sankster, alright, both generosity and charm stone to go over there. So we've got a pretty good contingent there for the two sprint races at Royal Ascot, and I'm really looking forward to it. But if Joel East Starr keeps her form from the TJ, oh look out, Royal Ascot, J Max's gonna be on a hummer over there, getting over there for those big races, Nathan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. And yeah, she'll carve them up. I mean, what are we talking about? She'll she'll destroy them. I mean, the the only thing that probably gets a bit, like you said, Josh, if we've got a monsoon of rain and ends up a heavy 10, that's probably the only time you sort of look at her and think, uh, maybe a little vulnerable. But like you said, the soft ground, Ryde won the race in the TJ, just going back to that race. It was phenomenal. Um, I've I said this ad nauseum, I'll say it again. Jimmy Starr should have won by six. I thought it was an enormous run by that horse, got pollaxed. I'm just gonna keep carrying on, boys. You wait till you get to the old age, you're gonna hear a lot from me. Uh look, it was a look, it was a good win by Jolly Starr, but there was it was a race where there was excuses. Tentais, what do you do with him now? I know he's sort of really I know he had that cardiac arrhythmia at the start before, but he came out run last in that race. So it was the horse.
SPEAKER_02It's the best cardiac arrhythmia I think you've ever seen in a run to come from the back of the field and still run past horses. It's bizarre.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, something something's up there. I don't know what it is, but he ends up running last in the TJ. So question mark there. Gear kick was good. Um, yeah, it was weird. It was a TJ that for me left more questions than answers. However, the question it did answer was Jolly Star will destroy them in the UK. There's no doubt about that. I'm not knocking it. She's a very, very good horse. It's just on the day, uh, you know, it's just hard when you do your money uh on uh certain horses. But uh look, it was a race that uh I think, yeah, like I said, I do think it sort of left some question marks. I know we sort of wanted, oh, stamp of approval, what's the best sprinter in the world? Turns out for for most punters, including myself, it was the week later when Tempted won.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um she's gone outstanding. Um Jolly Star, but yeah, I'm a little filthy on Geeky Kick. I thought uh Zachie Purton was going to get uh Clayton Douglas's horse over the line once again, get him another group one victory uh to his name. But um, yeah, it was all about the uh Chris Waller and J Mac train and even in the race earlier, Campion Titalia um with a big victory there. Punters really wanted to be with it, um, especially on the tote. But go over to the girls really quick. Winner of the Derby, Rachel King got green spaces over the line. That was an excellent, excellent ride. Uh, and a huge win for the horse as well as it goes towards a Melbourne Cup. But boys, the Doncaster mile, she's an alibi. We touched on it just briefly. Peter Moody, he's got another good one, uh, and he's got a good one alongside Catherine Coleman as well, which is great to see back of the field last coming around the home turn there in the Doncaster, loops the whole field and puts a space on them. Five lengths, if you don't mind, uh, towards Autumn Boy. Jeez, poor Autumn Boy. Uh, like he he wins that Doncaster, you know, any other year. Um, that was a huge, huge run from him. Militarize, honest as ever, along with Gringotts, but oh, it's all about she's an alibi, and boy, we cannot wait to see her hit the turf again because that run was just a normal mistake.
SPEAKER_01Oh, phenomenal. Easily, easily the win of the carnival. I mean, you you just the the way she won, the asurgencies she put in and just destroyed them. I mean, gotta give Jamie Mellon credit too. She didn't panic, she jumped, she got her nice and settled at the rear of the field. And the thing about this, boys, is I I mean, I'm not I'm not a historian in racing, I don't know what the stats look like. But to have a a a Philly go against the boys in a room with Guinea's, put pay to Them there and then go to a Doncaster, yes, with no weight, but then go to a Doncaster against the Elder Horses and not just beat them, make them look second rate. I mean, she beat Group 1 winners in that field and beat them very, very well. I wasn't necessarily the sort of she's an alibi believer, but after that win, I mean how can you not be? She SP'd short. I mean, a dot less than two dollars in a Doncaster mile and does that to them. It was easily the win of the carnival, something very, very special. Now, like you said, Maxie, she's the talk of the town now, because what's next? The world's her oyster. Like I was talking about, are there Everest on it on her cards? Is she obviously the Golden Eagle's hers to lose at the moment unless something else happens, but Josh, she was just absolutely mind-blowing winner of the carnival, surely?
SPEAKER_03Well, I think her last loss actually was uh to Tentauris at Corfield first up two preps ago. So, I mean, she she goes outstanding on the over the sprint trip, but I think she is a 400 metre mile. She could even get out to 2000, but that won't be for a couple of preps time. She is going outstanding. And we talked about um the owner unsure, but the jockey and trainer talking autumn glow going to the 2000. The refer step in here, Peter Moody trusted his owners, and they wanted to go to the Donny, and he prepped her to win a Donny. And did he what? This horse, I know she carried 49, but three-year-old Phillies, I mean, they don't win like margins like that in Don Caster Miles, and she was in trouble, like Jamie said, at the 600, but went back wide, and that turn of foot she's got is outstanding. Even with her with the horse not doing everything right, she just has that turn of foot where she can put a field away in a thurlong. That that race was one from the four to the two. Four strides and went from last to first. That was an outstanding run. And didn't beat uh beat a few group one horses in that field as well, even uh, even though Green Gotts was carrying the top weight of 58. But um just outstanding win. And yeah, golden eagle, obviously, next prep maxi. Will they go to an Everest? I doubt it. They'll probably uh weave a path where I'd say she won that race, the Donny third up. I reckon they'll probably want to do a prep where they're going third up into the golden eagle, and whether, and depending on how they go on that, they might even try another race after that, maybe back down in Melbourne. We'll wait and see. But yeah, she might scare a couple of these Japanese horses coming down for a golden eagle this time, boys. I think we might not get a European horse or a Japanese horse the way she won that race. Be interesting to see. But yeah, that was uh that was definitely the talk of the town, Maxi, after that, Donnie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, oh definitely. Uh, and she everyone going up uh for the week afterwards up to day one of the championships, everyone saying, geez, Autumn Glow kind of dodged a bullet there by not tackling the Doncaster. Um, because I I don't think she would have hold a bar to what she's an alibi did. I don't think any horse really in the country uh would be able to go close. Like that. You look at the margin she was able to put in Doncaster, Winx uh ended up putting, I think, two links in her Doncaster win, but it wasn't any more than that. Um she's put four links on her rivals there, and it was no slant of field. We mentioned a few group one winners, but Gringotts, Pericles, Evaporate, La Evaporate got the group one? No, it doesn't yet. Linebacker, does he have the group one yet? Yeah, yes, Ramwick in his Attica. Militarize, Autumn Boy, Stapardi, like these are all group one level horses. Um, and even the ones that aren't group one level, like group one pla Attica, another group one winner as well. Um Vivier, group one placed, um, NCAP, group one placed, uh 60s, group one placed, like these are top-tier horses um that she managed to bump into, and yeah, made them all look second rate, as we mentioned. Boys, in terms of the recap, we can keep going on and on and on, especially on some of the uh uh minor card as well, but we've got to move on eventually because we've got to move on towards car Ying Rising and his big victory, and geez, oh I just feel bad for poor Helios Express. I mean, he should be what, like an eight-time group one winner over in Hong Kong, but he just keeps running into car ying rising and oh sets breaks his own track record in a canter once again, Nathan. Jeez, do do we stand any chance against this horse in an Everest, even though we talked about a ton of potential Everest types? I mean, if he rocks up 100%, surely it's just put in, take out.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's it's over. It's done, dusted, finito. You can dead set, put the name on the trophy. I mean, he's just going so good. Uh he's just getting better. That's the thing. That's the scary part. You talked about it. I mean, he's broken his track record three times in 12 months. It's just incredible. Um, yeah, look, I mean, uh you could talk ad nauseum about him. He's just you run out of superlatives, you know. He's the world's best horse, it's not close. He's just an absolute freak. And what he's been able to produce, yes, he's a sprinter compared to staying types, but no horses putting a picket fence together like he is, he is just so, so good. And Helios Express, I think you could that fair to you could make the case that he'd be a multiple group winner in Australia, let alone back over in Hong Kong. I mean, he's that good. I tell you what, if you put him in an Everest, I think Helios Express would be very close to running fave. I think they should have gone to McDonald. Should they have to be able to get the biggest thing? I mean they should have, yeah. They they had chances to go to Dubai, they've had chances to go to Japan and snare some group one success. I mean at some stage they might have to, because they just keep running into a bona fide champion job.
SPEAKER_03But the prize money for second in Hong Kong's close to Group 1 prize money around the world, apart from Australia, of course, but nah, she I mean it Ka Ying just I don't know how they're gonna beat it. You go quick at wins, you go slow at wins. Like at this stage, we'll uh will David A's deliberately make it lose the barrier troll in Australia again just to get more money on it before the Everest. I mean, that that's the only thing. We're waiting for us just for a Teva troll in Australia, and if it gets here undefeated, like it's been going its last 19 going for 20 in a row Sunday week. I mean, there's there's no sprinter in the world that can come close to this horse at its peak. And yeah, it'll be interesting to see uh what it does Sunday week against uh Saturno Rev and basically the same contingent bar a couple from Europe, but I'm more we'll talk about it next week. But uh the Romantic Warrior Masquerade ball QE2 is intriguing me for Sunday week over there in Hong Kong. But yeah, Ka Ying, just two good boys. So I mean, what else can you say?
SPEAKER_02He's so good they came up with a new race for him just so that way he could start the preparation having one more run in Hong Kong before he came to Australia. That's how good he is. I mean, what what horse do they create a new race specifically just to have you go in, towel up some rivals on a race day, uh, and it basically be a track gallop? I mean, yeah, he he he's another level. He's otherworldly boys. That's probably it in terms of the recap. We can go ad noise him, but we've got to be tipping some winners going in towards this weekend. So let's uh uh get our form guide going and our tipping hats on because we look towards Ramwick this weekend, more group one action, of course. Got the all-age stakes and the champagne stakes. Um we'll start with the champagne. Race number seven here, boys. Going over the mile for the two-year-olds, campion d'Italia, um, winner of the size. Um he was ultra impressive on that occasion, winning last start. Um he's a bit of an naughty boy, especially around track work. Uh he can be a bit of a bit of a nutcase, but geez, when he's firing, um, all systems go towards Saturday. He deserves to be favourite here. But can any of these other runners at single figures or maybe even double figures, um, Nathan, potentially knock off this now group one winner um and try and get a group one on their own? Um key rivals, fireball, south end, zambales, Miss Chanel even. Um, any of those tickle your fancy, Nate?
SPEAKER_01It's an interesting one, actually. Initially, a race where I wanted to take on the fave. Uh, you know, I looked back at the size, thought about the best runs. I thought Miss Chanel was phenomenal. I thought run of the race uh for mine. The issue is the map and the barrier. I just see her jumping and getting back. I know gay waterhouse Adrian bought you, expect them to go forward. They've done it in the past, but you can't stunt that turn of foot she's shown getting back in her races. So from barrier 12, expect them to get back. And with map favours, I've gone with Campione Di Italia on top. I was with it in the size. I'm happy to stick thick. I think you are taking slide unders at the moment around that$2.60. Uh, but I think you have to. Uh I think J Mac, Waller, we've seen the combo, they were excellent in the size there, up to 1600 metres. That's not a problem for me. And only fifth up into the prep. It's not an afterthought. This has been what they've wanted to do the entire time. So you take you've got to be to show that respectfully as well. Sort of they won, had a little gap between runs, and then was good in the slipper, was good uh winning the size, and now I think can do the double here in the champagne. So with my$100 strategy, I'm gonna go put 80 the win on Campion. My little savour here is one down the bottom of the page. It's one of the girls, but it's not Miss Chanel, it's number 12, Solan. I actually thought it was a really, really nice one behind Diameter. You have a look at that replay. It was a slowly run race, got back. I thought powered through the line really well and just gets that lovely suck run here, third up into the campaign, stays at 1600 metres, the son of uh Seamus Award. And from barrier one, expect Jason Collett to take up a nice forward position somewhere just on the pace, maybe find the one-one from the barrier. And I think it's$17. We can have a little saver there as the danger. So I go 80 the win can't be owned, 20 the win on Solano in for third. I've gone with Miss Chanel. If it drew a gate, probably would have had it on top. So you can keep that in mind in terms of your quaddies and things like that. Definitely got to go in your multiples. I think she's flying at the moment, and the daughter of Tangaloa. The only issue I had with her was out to 1600 metres after a long campaign. She's been up for a long time now, so just a little bit curious as to whether or not this was the A plan for a horse like Miss Chanel. But she's going great guns, and I can't knock her. And then in for fourth, I've got to respect Fireball. Another one that SP'd a big price in the size, but I thought finished off well, and this time draws a barrier with Tim Clark in the saddle. So goes in, must be respected. But Campion and Cylan for me, Maxi. Two pretty decent bets at the prices. Alright, what about you, Josh? How are you seeing the champagne stakes?
SPEAKER_03Um, I agree that uh Campion deserves to be favourite the size winner, seven up to the champagne. But at the price, I'm just gonna take on with one each way that I think is getting out to a reasonable price now. And I really liked the win from the Balniew of number four Southend. I'm gonna back that horse each way. 20 to win, 80 the place. Uh, this Colt by Pallas Pear looks to peak here, third up for the Ryan Alexio Camp. And yeah, like I said, I really like the run in the Balinu. And the form has come out and won at the Fernil Mile with diameter, so the form line's strong. And from gate five, I just think it's a lovely card into the race. It looks like it'll run the mile. And at the$8, I think Campion decides to be fair, but this horse I think's gone really well into the race. So trying to win out of place on south end. Campion d'Italia goes in for second. If it shows that turn a foot from last start, um, might be too strong. But at the price, willing to take it on. Fireball in for third and in for fourth with your failure runner, Nathan. I think number 12 Salan is the best failure runner in the race. Another one that's third up after the thermil mole should improve off that off the week backup and draws gate one. So might not have to sit so far back in the field. This Philly still a maiden, but I think can run really well here this weekend. But each way, I like the Balnew winner and South End that goes on top for me in the Champagne.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, boys, pretty straight bat from me. Uh, I've gone with the favourite on top. Um, Campion Italia, I think huge run in the slipper, um, big winner there in the size. Um, I agree. Miss Chenel uh did show a lot of promise there um in the size, but the barrier draw just really kills its chances for me. So Campion Nitalia from barrier four, nice soft draw. J Mac can take control from that position, just get himself in a nice forward front half of the field, but doesn't have to lead sort of position. Goes on top from South End. Uh I like it there at the$8. I think it might be worth a little bit of a spec. So but I'm just but I think just the full handy on Campione, very confident about it. Um in for third, gone with Miss Chanel. Um I agree if it drew better, um, it'd go high in the numbers, but I just couldn't find a place for it. And then fireball to round out the numbers there. So I've gone those in single figures in this race. Um uh but I might have to have that little saver on Salan, as you boys mentioned. Alright, let's move on to the next race. It's a Hallmark stakes here, boys. 1200 metres. Joker's Grin, lobbed up your favourite here, J Mac and Walla. This is a nice new sprinter that's on the up and up from Marzu, Private Eye, and King Secret and Kogualan in single figures. Nathan, how are you seeing the Hallmark stakes?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's an interesting one. I I've missed the memo. I'm a little bit confused about the market, boys. I know Jokers Grin, your favressive horse, good record. First up, Chris Waller, drawn wide. I'm gonna take it on. I think there's a best bet here, and I'm pretty keen to play. Uh, I'm chips in here, number one, private eye. I can't believe the price. At the$5, I think it's a really, really good bet. Drawn out in Garrett Barry at nine, but we get Nash on. Expect him to go forward, and I think this horse can do what he did uh when winning over the 1400 metres at Caulfield in the middle of the prank. Uh sorry, first up last preparation. That was phenomenal when winning, going to the front and kicking clear. Um, I believe that was the CSH. Uh sorry, the the the Lawrence, uh, pardon me, first up last prep, PB Lawrence. Uh was an excellent win that occasion. I think if he can replicate a similar figure, he'll prove very, very hard to beat. Expect Nash to go forward, lead him up, and lead him on a merry dance and win win well. I think$5 is a really, really good bet here for Private Eye. Made it one of my better bets of the day. If a second I've gone with Joker's Green, I respect him. I think he's a very, very nice horse, has a good first up profile, gets J Mac, etc, etc. But from Barrier 11, J Mac's either going to have to take his medicine and slide to the rear, or he's gonna have to take a risk and might get cast wide. I'm hoping it's the latter, and I think he might be in a little bit of trouble there. And at$3.10, just a horse that I don't think quite has the runs on the board against the proper sprinters. I know this isn't a race with those proper sprinters, but I think private eye deserves some respect, and the market isn't quite showing it. So Jim uh Joker's grinning for second, in for third, Marzu. Again, another horse that I respect coming out of the A-grade form lines, but I do think short enough there at the$4.40. And then in for fourth, one of the big odds you can chuck into your Quaddies, boys in your multiples is number 11, Bohemia. I think it's a nice type. First up record's not bad. And I think uh later in the campaign has that good run behind idle flight. Obviously, that horse has come out in way group one this prep. So I want to trust that form. I want to trust this Philly, I think uh this mare, I think he's a very, very nice horse on the rides.$31 could be over. So one that I'd be putting in my multiples. But I'm pretty keen on private eye, you boys made it one of my best of the day. Five dollars, yes please.
SPEAKER_02Alright, what about you, Josh? How are you seeing the Hallmark stakes?
SPEAKER_03I see where you're coming from, Nathan with Private Eye, but um I'm getting a little bit of failure in this race. I can't believe it. But I'm with the stablemate here at a bit of failure. You think it can cause the upset here? And number seven, King's Secret. I think this horse is sneakily going very well here. Andrew Atkins jumps on for Joseph Pride here. And uh first up was a very good run. Second up was just wide, no cover the trip. Forgive that little tick over trial. And I love that it's drawn gate five here and is undefeated at Ramwick. I think it goes, sits outside the speed of Mal Koop, and I think might be hard to chase down here. So at the$9 on with King's Secret on top from Marsu. Mar Sue ran outstanding in its last two races uh behind Mahourna and Joel Eastar. And I believe Mar Sue might have won this race either last year or two years ago with Jamie Melamond. So this horse has won this race in the past and draws a gate to win this race again, but does come to a good deck where we all know its best form is with a bit of given the ground. But if you go to that first run by Generossi, this horse is going really well no matter what grand it's on.$4.40 looks an intriguing price. Joker's Grin in for third and Privadine for fourth. Both of them, I just think going to go back actually and gonna be lamp lighters late. And I think both of them are probably heading up to Queensland for the winter carnival. You're dooming 10,000s and races like that. So I don't think they'll be fully ready to go here, but if they are, look out. But for me, I'm gonna go a bit of foul you with the horse peeking furred up, and that's number seven, King's Secret.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, see where you're coming from, Josh. Um just eked out in my numbers. I've gone with the stablemate and private eye. Um look, Joe Pride, he's got a real, I guess, key to this race. I mean, he's got four of the top five in the market there. Um, but private eye is the pick of the bunch, to be honest. Um I don't really understand the price discrepancy, the price difference, why private eye is not favoured over Marzu. Um look, Marzu, good horse, but geez, I'd rather I'd so much rather have Private Eye um in this race than a wood Marzu. I just think the class speaks for itself, especially early in the preparation. So yeah, it ticks all the boxes for me. So um yeah, it chips in uh Private Eye for this race. If I had a hundred dollar um bet in this strat, I just put the full Hunty on uh on Private Eye. In for second, I've gone for King's Secret uh for everything you outlined, Josh, as well. I think it does represent good value there at the$9. Um in for third, I've gone with Mal Coop, horse number nine here. One of mine, horse has been going outstanding this preparation, just keep going from um strength to strength. Um finds itself in a bit of a tricky black type race here, but uh I think at$16. Um you can do some good shopping there. Joker's grin um to round out the numbers as well, but private eye goes on top for me. Um yeah, I I just thought this was a pretty simple bet in this race. Um$100 a win for me. Alright, let's move on to the other group one feature of the day. The all-age stakes boys, Angel Capital has lobbed up your favourite here, finds itself at 1400 metres, and uh geez, if ever he's gonna win a group one, Nathan, this is his race. He's got J Mac on. He's up here at the 1400 metres with a lot of these other horses. I guess uh question marks out of that TJ form. Like, I don't think the runners went outstanding in the race, and he gets map favors, so geez, I can understand why he's favourite, but are you buttering up?
SPEAKER_01Uh$4.80. Um uh boys, uh no. Leave to the keeper. Look, I've been seeing Angel Cap, I've been a big fan of him for a long time. I was keen on him in the William Reed, and he's you know, he sucked me in a few times. And so now you get J Mac, and the worst part is you don't get a price, boys. It's$4.60. I just think he's really, really well found. I liked him first up as well, he was disappointing. Second up was good behind Cabalas and the new market, and then third up there, like I said, in William Reed. He'd like he was just gonna go storming past, but just missed. Jigsaw we'll talk about in a minute uh when it comes to the Quokka. But yeah, Angel Capital, I'm gonna put a false fave tag on here and say it's really the J Mac tax, because for mine, there's a stable companion here that if he was on it, I think the horse would be five dollars. I'm talking about Fangirl. I I just think ten dollars here. She just looks a silly price. I'll get to her in a sec. But my on-top pick is number two, Jimmy Star. You talked about that TJ form, Maxie. I mean, yes, I do I agree. I have question marks to it as well. Then the only question mark for me was how far Jimmy should have won by after he got absolutely pole axed at the start. Was absolutely enormous. Third up here, ready to peak, 1400 metres, won the race last year with a pretty similar prep as well. Uh, and I just think best form for this race is the best run out of the TJ. And for me, it wasn't close. Jimmy Starr was the best run out of that race. He was$3 all in, keep in mind, and then you're getting$5 because of true barrier 12. I think it's a bit of a spoil, so I'm happy to be with it. 50 the win on Jimmy's on top, but I've got to have 30 the win on Fangirl Boys. I mean, fair income. Well, I don't know how he's she's$10 at the moment. She's been competitive first up in wink stakes races and and and such against proper Group 1 company. We're talking about your Via Sistinas, your Lindemans, uh, etc. etc. She has just been outstanding. Yes, she's had a bit of a setback, and yes, Ben Mellon takes the ride instead of J Mac. But like I said, if it was the other way around, surely she'd be$5 and not$10. So I'm happy to have a little bit of a bet on her and take the risk. First up, perhaps into a bit of a grand final is a bit of a question mark, but she's just class personified. She's a multiple group one winner, and her track and distance form is out of this world good. Eight starts for four wins and three minors. So she's got to be a bet for mine. Those are my main two bets. I have 50 on Jimmy, 30 on Fangirl. And for mine, boys, I think I've identified one that's a little bit over the odds as well. I'm gonna have 20 to win on number 12, Lazura. Now, this is a horse that they actually scratched from last week's Queen of the Turf. To go to this race. And I think that's very, very interesting. I thought it was brilliant in the core more. Three wide with some cover, but peeled out and gave them a shellacking. I know that it says a one by point three of a length, but it was a really, really good win. And again, in this race, she's still lightly raced. Only third up into the campaign. She's going well. And for me, she looks like a horse that's over the odds. Yes, wait for age against the other horses. Maybe not her go. But she deserves her chance here. So I'm going to respect her and say she's a bet too. So I'm going to have 50 on Jimmy, 30 on Fangirl, 20 on Lazarus. And then in for fourth, really, it's take your pick. You can make a case for a lot of these. But I ended up landing with number uh what I land with uh number six, Pericles. Uh, a horse that comes out of that Don Carster. I thought was really, really good behind She's an alibi, although beaten by seven links, back to 1400 metres. That's his go. I think he'd be much better suited. But again, look out in this race. I think there's a few you can put a pen through uh where the prices are a little bit wrong. But uh and then uh like you boys mentioned earlier, half yours a very interesting runner here first up. Don't know that he can quite win it here. I don't think he's sharp enough at 14, but definitely be watching his run because he'll be flashing home and the races like the Hollandale, QE2, etc. etc., up in Brisbane, right up his alley. But an interesting race, boys. Gonna split up my stake, but I'm pretty keen on the three-off pick.
SPEAKER_02All right, what about you, Josh? How are you seeing the all-age stakes? So you team Angel Capital or team against?
SPEAKER_03I'm against Angel Capital, boys. I just think it's uh way too short in this group one. This is a stronger group one, I thought, than the one uh Angel Capital was in last start, and you're getting half the quote. So, I mean, just on that alone, I think Angel Capital is too short. Regularly, this is a matchup between the TJ horses going up in distance and the Donny horses going down in distance. And I usually like the TJ horses. So on top, I'm with you know I'm with Jimmy Starr on top. I just think third up on top of the grand, 1400 metres, won the race last year, going for back-to-back, beat Joel East Starr in the race last year as well. Barrier 12 might not be a negative. I think uh he won't get uh he shouldn't get knocked about like he did last start from gate 12. He should take his mess and go back and try and loop the field like this horse can at its best. And$5, I think, is a very good price here to find out. So, like you, I'm having 50 to win on Jimmy Star and think it can go back to back. I'm also gonna have 30 to win on number 11 fangirl. I totally agree with you. If J Mac was on, the the quote would be half. Like you said, a setback, two nice trials. But this horse at its best, like you mentioned, it's Wait for Age, Group 1 class at the mole. And from gate eight, I think it gets a lovely card into this race. And we all know at its best it needs a good deck, and it's going to get those conditions this weekend. So third win on Fangirl, and my last 20 to win, you mentioned a failure on it, and I think I've found one here too that I think is snuck in under the radar at a really big price. And I'm having 20 to win on number seven, Royal Patronage. I think this horse is coming into this race very over the odds. Now, uh, it's gonna get on speed. First up to Prepsiga won the Canterbury running slick time, beating here the shock. If it can run up to that, I think it can run really well here. From six, Clark should push up. And he's gonna sit outside the leader Baywok, which I'm confident is gonna lead this race. And this horse has got a great fresh record over 1,400 metres at the track, and I think it could cause a little bit of a ball over here. So with my last 20 to win, I'm gonna put it on Royal Patronage at 26 to 1. I think it's the horse that's the knockout in this race. In for fourth, I'll put in Giga Kick as won this race a few years ago, and looks like it can run well here again. But three main bets for me, boys. Jimmy Starr, 50 to win, 30 to win fangirl, and 20 to win on the Ruffy at Royal Patronage in this race, which looks a very good addition this year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, bone chips removed uh with Fangirl. Um not sure what the record's like for horses having bone chip removed first up, but if she's 100%, she wins this race uh for me. Like at the odds that she's at, yes, please. Um so yeah, ticks all the boxes. Um I'll go 70 the win uh on fangirl, and then I'll save my other 30 on a horse that I think has been disrespected in the market. Horse number four, uh Tommy Kitten. What's his horse done? Um wrong. I mean, yes, he was a bit underwhelming there in that Australia Cup, but I don't think 2,000 metres is his go. I think he's better over the 1400, over the mile sort of distances, and you're getting 34 bucks. But please cannot believe it the odds we're getting about this horse. So yeah, Tommy Kitten with the little gap in between runs, a little freshen comes into this race. Um, I reckon can really make a splash. Might be on that same campaign as a half yours heading towards a Hollandale. But I I think they've worked out the keys to this horse that he just doesn't see out 2,000 metres to get the best out of him, um, to still keep that freshness in his legs and his turn of foot. So yeah, hence why he goes in my numbers in for uh third. I've chucked in Jimmy Staff, everything you boys have outlined. Um, yeah, this looks an ideal race for him. I reckon he should be favourite in this race over Angel Capital. Um, yeah, draws by p um poorly in barrier 12, but that's just Jimmy. Um I don't think that's gonna hamper his chances too much. Um the 1400 metre start's pretty fair there at Ramwick, and then Baywacht as well. Um draws nice and inside. Another one that got scratched from last week comes to this race instead. Um, yeah, it goes in my numbers. Um that's how I'm seeing the all-age stakes, boys. Um, we'll come back up to Sydney for some best bets later. But let's move down south, boys. Go down to Mornington uh and the peninsula down there. They got their cup day on. It's got a race number eight here, boys. Uh, your favourite ambassadorial um putting together a bit of a picket fence when it's last three straight. See what I see in uh second favourite in the market from Kings Valley and Wybark. Nathan, how are you seeing the Mornington Cup?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you probably punter's probably thinking, why are they covering Mornington? I'll tell you why. It's because these two races have covered my best bets. So we'll go to the value runner in this race. Uh yeah, I think I'll get it done early, boys. Uh, there's a couple of good, uh there's a good each way chance in this race, in my opinion. A very interesting runner. If we go to the middle of the page, and that's number eight, Vaselina. There's a really, really good bet here at the$19. Happy to back it each way. I thought was okay uh last up behind light infantry man in the Australian Cup. Absolutely banger edition, which just outclassed. I know it was beating eight and a half lengths, but I think it's a really good prep run. First up at the 18 in the in the uh was it the PD Young as well? I thought was really good, despite running last. It was just outclassed in both those races. Now, third up, 2400 metres, ready to peak from a nice soft draw there, Billy Egan in the saddle. I think we can really get a result here on the each way. That five bucks on the placeline, 19 on the win line. That'll do me. And the reason why is that we should get a genuine tempo here, courtesy of my second elect, and that's number seven, ambassadorial. Horse is absolutely flying at the moment, just putting that picket fence together, three wins in a row, and uh the Tony and Calvin McAvoy team have this horse going very, very well. But I think it sets up for a back marker, and hopefully that can be Baselina. In for third, I've chucked in number three at 50 to 1, if you don't mind. That is Zareer. I think a very interesting run. He comes out of some good form in Sydney. I just want to see this horse do something. I want to respect it and chuck it in my quaddies and uh multiples. I know it's run last in all three runs this prep, but its European form is too good to ignore. And if it can replicate its best, you just know it's gonna run a race at some point. And if it does, you want to have it on your side. And at$51, I think it's a horse you can definitely chuck in your multiples, exotics, whatever you've got going in this race. And then in for fourth, attracted number one, that's bankers choice, has to carry the 60 kilos for a reason, looks the class, and now third up over the trip looks ready to pick as well. Just a little tricky draw there from barrier 13. But my best each way of the day, boys. Number eight, Baselina, comes up in the Mornington Cup. Pretty keen.
SPEAKER_02Nice bit of value about it as well. I'm seeing$19. Um, what about you, Josh? How are you seeing the Mornington Cup?
SPEAKER_03Well, Baselina did make my numbers interesting, Nathan. I'll get onto that horse in a minute. But on top for me, I've gone a bit of failure as well. But I've gone with number five immediacy. I think this horse looks to peak here, stepping up to the 2,400 metres after three good, tough 2,000 metre runs. Just wanted to get those kilometres under the belt before stepping up to a mile and a half. Drawsgate 10, Tommy Stockdale on for the Bus and Young camp. And I think can run a very big race. He was behind Ambassador last start. Meets it better at the weights from that race as well. And I think that could make the difference here. So$10 immediacy, I'll put on top from number 12. See what I see. Another one that was behind Ambassador last start, another one that we haven't seen get to the mile and a half before. But looks like it'll definitely run the trip by see the stars and uh just had a really nice prep. Hasn't won yet, but might be really the peak here. And both my horses are the first and second, are both one for one at Mornington, which I think is key coming to this track. You want horses that have run well at this track and both uh Immedia C and C What I see have in for third. I'll put in Ambassador, the favourite, going outstanding since going to the uh turning Kelvin McAfoy camp and by Fiorente should run the mile and a half out. I just hope there are some uh that can uh that meet a bit of the weights that can uh come over the top of it. And then Basilina does go in for four for me, gone in two ferry class races. Read a step up to a mile and a half, would love the track to stay in those soft conditions to run its best. But um won the Andrew Ranson last year, quite convincingly. Uh I believe was it the Andrew Ranson that won last year? I'm not sure. But um was the 200 Mere listed race at Flemington. So it's a and out stayer and will definitely run the mile and a half hour. Like you mentioned, the$19. Uh, it does look the nice blowout in the race. But for me, I don't mind immediacy on an each-way play.
SPEAKER_02I don't mind it either. Uh makes my numbers, but I went with the uh Danny O'Brien runner. See what I see on top for me. Uh Bo Mertens gets this one uh as well. I like that he's had the victory as well over the uh um at the track two. Um in for second, I've gone with Kings Valley, pretty sure ran uh a placing in this race last year to go in my numbers. Immediately goes in there for third and Santora uh as well, another run we haven't really talked about too much. Um nice run then there, last start behind two darn discreet um uh last time around. Uh yeah, I I think is well represented in a race like this. But see what I see goes on top for me. I think ambassadorial um doesn't keep the picket fence going, but wouldn't surprise if it does come out and win. Let's go on to the next race, boys. Race number nine. It's the Hariba Stakes, 1200 metres, listed level. LaFracus is your favourite here from Midwest and Recon. How are you seeing it, Nate?
SPEAKER_01Another one where I'm very keen, boys. This one is my best bet of the day. Give me every bit of that$4 for LaFracca. I cannot believe it's four bucks. It should be$2.50 in this field. It's absolutely flying. Third up into the campaign was excellent in that Rosalind Star form. You boys mentioned King's Secret. Pretty sure comes through that same race behind that horse, and I thought was brilliant on that occasion. Just threw wide, back at the rear, powered home. I thought was excellent. Now third up, ready to peek, gets back to Melbourne where you're going. And Josh mentioned it. Uh, you want horses for courses. This horse is one for one at the track and trip. This was like the perfect setup. Bo Mertons, barrier four, tucks in behind a pretty good tempo, you'd think, and will blouse them. Chips in, four dollars. Yes, please. Lafracca, best of the weekend anywhere in the country. If a second, gone with a bit of value here. You can chuck in your multiples. That's number 15. She's got Pizzazz. I think comes out of that pop award race. That horse in this market around that uh nine, ten dollar mark. And I think she's got Pizzazz uh can turn the tables here, was on the worst part of the track on that occasion. But this time, drawn barrier seven goes to a turn uh at Mornington. I think it's going to be suitable. Another horse that's run well at this track and trip in the past. She's got ability, just hasn't quite put it together. She's had big spells before coming back. She's third up, so she can keep her fitness and uh get that lovely run with Linda Meach in the saddle. I think she's got Pizzazz, could be a little bit of a danger there at the price. In for third, I'm going back to the top of the page here. In a horse that might be suited by the 1200, but a horse that's got ability, and that's number one, Desert Lightning. I think it's a very good chance here if you want one at a big, big price. Last preparation was again referenced that uh PB Lawrence form was really good behind Private Eye, finished second in that race, and then SP'd a very short price heading to Mooney Valley. So went on to group one company, wasn't quite uh up to that level, but in this sort of listed grade, albeit over the sprint trip, I think Desert Lightning could be a bit of a player in a race like this. And then Info Forth have chucked in that form I referenced number eight pop award. She's a nice mare in form, and like we say, boys, mare's inform. You want to keep backing them when they're winning. As she got that winning, uh she got that picked up that nice win, pardon me, at Flemington down the straight track. So she could press on and continue her winning ways. But I am chips in Lafracca, she is an absolute bet, and I think he, pardon me, is an absolute bet, and I think he will be very, very hard to beat. Four dollars, keep backing it till I'm blue in the face.
SPEAKER_02Alright, what about you, Josh? Uh, how are you seeing this one in the Hariba stakes? Are you team LaFracca joining up there with Nathan or potentially another runner in this race? Get a bit of value.
SPEAKER_03I am with the Fayette here, boys. I'm with LaFracca. Finally, I'm with a Fayette here boys, and I think this horse furred up, should be really the peak. Gate four, Matt's to get run of the race, doesn't have to be too far back, just midfield with cover, use that turn of foot and should be too good. Lafracca on top from Popper Ward goes in for second. This horse has a great strike rate and handles all conditions. So Luke Carrot, I think, at$11, that's the main danger in the race. In for third, she's got Passas. I think that Popper Ward form does look good here. And another one third up that could be looking to peak.$17 looks a bit of good failure there. And another one at a bit of failure for fourth. Number six title fighter. This horse can run while resuming here for Clayton Douglas as a great third start record. But for me, boys, Lafracca maps and should be here third up ready to peak, and I've got it on top.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I originally came into this race trying to get uh Lafracca beat. Uh I I just think like, you know, alright, listed race. Let's see what the rest of this competition is like. Surely there's going to be uh a nice horse like stepping down in sort of I guess stepping down in grey that it's right after this, but geez, nothing really just sort of stood out from all those tried runners, you know, that have had cracks in tougher races. Um yeah, it just goes on top for me, so I guess I'll make it three for three um in for second. Ended up going with a Mortal Star, another horse that's kind of on the up as well. Um Last Star went around at Corfield behind Kaying Cheer. That horse has gone on and won since. Um but also some of the other horses it's run into, Rudol Royale, it's won another race as well. Since, mind you, it's only going around a benchmark grade. Um, here it is finding itself enlisted, so it's a big step up in grade. But I think it certainly wouldn't be a disgrace in a race like this. Midwest uh goes in the numbers as well. Um, yeah, it's right up to a race like this. Um it has one at the track as well, so it ticks that box for me, and then I'll chuck in core niche as well to round out my numbers. But uh Lafracca on top. Um look, I thought it was a little bit short in terms of the pricing, but I just couldn't find anything else to take it on. It just seems to be so well placed in a race like this, um, ready to get some black type to its name. Alright, boys, um, that's it in terms of uh morning team we're gonna be covering. But one more race we're gonna be touching on, and that's the Quaka boys. We're gonna go over West. Um, Ascot race number eight here. It's the Quaker 1200 meters. Jigsaw, Kabalus, and Ray Magnerio, horses one, two, and three have all lobbed up. You have a tired favourite at$4.60. How are you seeing this one, Nathan? Um, all coming off um some pretty impressive uh wins over the last couple starts. They've had Jigsaw, of course, getting the group one to its name there, last start there at Corfield, Kabales, um, excellent win also at group one level, and even Ray Bank Niro um go back two starts ago there at Royal Ascot, and the gold rush was enormous on that occasion and wouldn't be um disgraced running a run, a good race in a race like this. How you seeing this race? Looks like race in three. Um, have you gone with one of those three or potentially a bit of value outside of it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the market's got it in a race in three, and look, it wouldn't be a uh a quacker without DALI racing having something over there. Where's overpass? Everyone said, and they said, Don't worry, we'll send Cabalas, it's all good. But um look, it's a very interesting race. A race that is not uh an uh despite overpass not being there, it's a race that still has a lot of speed involved. I think there's a lot of go forward horses. So I'm identified one that's gonna be back in the field, and I'm gonna spend my$100 on a bit of an each way strategy here, something similar to what Josh did uh over in Sydney when it came to the champagne stakes. But I'm going one down the bottom of the page. I think there's a really nice chance here on the each way, and that's number 13. Luana miss. I think this horse is very, very progressive. The three-year-old Philly in this field. I thought she was excellent. First up behind, roped them in. SP'd a bound$5.50 on that occasion. Got back, tried to round them up, but couldn't quite on the tempo in that race. But this one looks like a breakneck speed, a bunch of speed horses in this race. Hillary horse like speed, uh, sorry, smooth chino, that's gonna go forward, and obviously Cabalas and Jigsaw, they're gonna have speed to burn from the wider draw. So expect them to go quick. And from Barrier 6, Chris Parnham just gets that lovely run in behind on Luana Mess. So I'm gonna go 25 the win, 75 the place on the three-year-old Philly. I think she's a very, very good each way bet in this race. So I'm gonna make her my bet strategy. And then outside of her, I just think the uh the uh pardon me, the Eastern Hemisphere horses uh are the ones that I want to be with in my other numbers. I think they're the ones that you have to show respect to. They've got the runs on the board. I'm referring to Cabalas Jigsaw, and I'll throw in Ray Magnario. It was initially from Victoria, but looks like more of a WA horse at the moment with Willie Pike in the saddle. Uh, but those three go in and round out my numbers. Uh, I just think around the sort of four dollars sixty apiece is what the market's got them. And I think it's fair enough. They're coming out of genuine group one company, while Luana Miss is just down in the numbers just because of uh sort of the runs on the board. But I think she's progressive, I think she's got the ability to win this race, and the setup looks ideal. So I'm gonna go with Luana Miss to cause an upset in this year's Quakka. It's a really good race outside of that, though. Even a horse like Jetta Bill's going really well at the 17 bucks, could see that horse win, rope them in uh for the locals, could go a race, and Smooth Chino well backed as well with Mark Zara at around that six dollars. So very interesting addition of the Quakka boys, but I'm gonna go each way here with Luana Miss.
SPEAKER_02All right. What about you, Josh? How are you seeing the Quakka this year round? Are you with those at the top of the market or potentially a bit of value?
SPEAKER_03I think the market's got it right. It is quite an open race this year, and um the last couple of years, really, the only WA horse that's been able to win these sprint races was uh Joker's Grin win the Quaker last year, beating Headwall coming out of the TJ. And um, I'm with the TJ form this year. I've got Cabales on top. I just think uh take one out, put one in. I think that's gonna work for Bjornny Baker. I know uh this is a set weights, not handicapped, but Cabalas has just gone to a new level, this pret run second behind Jolie Star, then winning the new market. But an interesting fact for us, I double-checked it, and someone might have to correct me. I don't think anything has come out and won that ran in the new market. No horses come out and won since. No horses come out and won from that new market race. So that is quite an interesting stat to me, being a handicapped group one, and no horses come out and won since the closest was obviously Angel Capital by and Jigsaw and GG's miss true for lost last start behind spyware. But I'll go with the winner on top. I think Cabales can get a cross from nine and uh maybe not go such a hectic speed than what people were expecting. But I think Cabalus can get a cross jump lead, and when I like the booking of Tommy Berry going over there to uh uh stick with the horse after he's ridden it a few times, he has a very good striker on it. So Cabalus on top from Ray Magnirio, I think he maps to get probably run of the race here. Was unlucky not to win uh the winner bottom last year, losing to Libertad. If they went a bit faster, maybe he could have uh come over the top and won that race. But uh it looks like there's enough speed in this race for Ray Magnerio to get over the top. He and has a lot of fitness now after having that first run behind Jigsaw. Jigsaw goes in for third. This horse is going outstanding. I just think when it drew wide in the William Reed, it drew to get the right part of the track. I just think from 13 it might. have to do a bit too much work here to get across a lot of these horses that will go forward. So I see where the market is coming from for these uh east coast horses going over to the west coast. And then in for fourth, Jedda Bill is the blowout chance. I really liked its run uh in the uh behind Mahouna there last start in the sorry in the galaxy. Yeah in the galaxy. So um if it can bounce off that third up to the 1200 metres it does have good form there buying horses like Briasa and did run in the Everest last year. So$17 uh could do worse than that as a blowout hope. But for me I'm with Derby Racing and I've got Cabales on top and the Quokker.
SPEAKER_01Yeah I I'm right there with you as well Cabalas on top for me Tommy Berry rides um really nice strong jockey booked for this race um yeah and I think from barrier nine that's no negative um in for second I've gone with Jigsaw um yeah the only negative is a draw I I think he's once again right up to this race just he's running the best racing of his career at the moment now gets a group one on Australian soil to his name as well um yeah he's going enormous Ray Magnirio um goes in the numbers there for third um and then I ended up coming for Smooth Chino so it pretty much went close to market order here um look smooth chino just had the one uh loss to its name there um bit unlucky on that occasion as well but uh I I think they're a single figure as it kind of deserves to be but Cabalas I think$4.60 that's a fair price I'm I'm happy to dive in at that price um goes on top for me in the Quokka boys um and what's gonna be a cracking addition to round out the day but before we do that we're gonna be finding the punters some best bets going into this weekend so Nathan come to you first best bets this weekend where are they going to be lobbying are they both down at Mornington or surely you've got to have something for us up in Sydney no nothing at Sydney this week boys uh the only one that I have spruked is one that I I said already and that's Private Eye I've got it the best bet of the day type uh at least next best I think after Lafracca at Mornington as well and Baselina I'll give you one more uh that I went scoping out of uh the pack this weekend and it is actually at Mornington I'm gonna stick there we're gonna go to race number seven on the program and that is the Mornington Guineas over 1600 metres it's for the three year olds and I think there's a very very good horse here uh that looks like it won a a sort of a midweek race at Sandy but my goodness it was impressive and that's number two satirically I thought it was a really really good win sweated up in the yard a treat went forward set its own pace and kick clear really impressively didn't run much time and it was only a benchmark 66 but a lot of these horses are sort of slowly getting into their prep fourth up now drawn wide but Jet Stanley jumps straight to the front and expects satirically to prove very very hard to beat little multi between that and Lafracca that will do me very very nicely so that's how I've seen the best bets this weekend boys as I said Vaselina private eye uh Lafraca and satirically for me all right what about you Josh best bets this weekend where are they going to be lobbing?
SPEAKER_03I got two in Sydney but I'll start with my best bet of the weekend I'm going down the mall to throw best bet this world boys I'm going to race number two though which is a benchmark 74 for the three year olds and over over a thousand metres and I'm really keen with the horse resuming here number 13 street artist I think this horse can uh win here first up drawgate five here for Dan Stackhouse and Anthony Sandfried camp for Yulong has a track and trip win at Mornington so it will handle the track well comes here after uh winning its latest trial of 165 day spell and I just found it's got the class to knock over this field so street artist for me best bet at around the$2.70 just got a hope no it does make the field with a couple of scratching so street artist for me the best bet of the weekend now going back up to Sydney boys I've got a next best and a four we're gonna go with the next best to Ramwick race number five the Frank Packer plate and I like the carbine club here for form here stepping up to the 2000 metres and I'm with number four Olympian I was with it as my four runner last start and I really like it here now uh stepping up to the 2000 metres. I thought it was unlucky not to win the Carbine Club last prep and I think the step up is going to suit Craig Williams sticks for the ride for Paul Masara here from gate eight just find a bit of cover and I think this horse has got to turn a foot on the top of the ground to come over the top of your horses like Matthias and Providence. So$4.85 I'll make Olympian the next best for me of the weekend and then for my fairy runner we're going to go to the lucky last which is the Whirlpool benchmark 100 and over the 400 meters and a lot of the horses that are favourite are actually emergencies so they might not get a run and I'm with one here at an each way quote that comes out of group one winning form lines and that's number 13 snow in the May I thought the run was very good last start in the emancipation behind idle fly got held up for a key stage of that race and stepping back down to the 400 meters I think can run a big race here third up for Tommy Charlton here sack Lloyd jumps back on and at$21 I think you're getting a great each way play here so I make Snow and made a foulue with uh Olympian and street artist the best bets for this weekend boys.
SPEAKER_02I'm lining up alongside next to you there Josh Olympian one of my best bets going into this weekend as well I love that we're getting five dollars about this race um yeah just the rest of the field I think a pretty even bunch um so yes please goes on top for me from the Arrowfield camp but in the race prior um got another one that I'm keen to have a bet on um last start thought it was a huge run copped a bit of a check and squeezed for a bit of a run there as well and that is race number four horse number four tomato toasty it's coming out of that same run there um behind a plaintiff uh that was in the last race um what is it a couple weeks ago um yeah this horse is going really really well tomato toasty um and I think at the$9.50 yes it went around at 80s uh as well but mind you those prices are bloated because of the whirlpool prices um as well it fixed odds wise it went around I think at 31 bucks so yeah just take that with a grain of salt when you're checking your form guides um team but yeah I I think nine dollars fifty that's a fair each way price to have a bet around it and then I'll go with um uh Campion Italia as well for one that I'm very very keen on uh not quite best bet areas because I don't think it is a bit of a deep race but it's right there it's right there and um yeah keep this streak going of J Mac and Walla getting a group one because I think they're on something ridiculous like nine weekends in a row. Like they're uh it i it's ridiculous how how good they're going at the moment um yeah and they're there to smash records and before we know it J Mac will be on 200 group one wins uh to his name which will be ridiculous to even say or mention. Alright boys that's it in the pod another monster pod so much to recap and also look forward to the weekend ahead but there's plenty more group one racing all across Australia heading forward of course Adelaide's carnival's ramping up and um of course up in Queensland too they got their big carnival as well so we'll be covering all of that.
SPEAKER_01Nathan thanks so much for joining as always brother I appreciate it Maxie let's finish off the carnival with a bang all edge stakes day is an absolute ripper so hopefully we've picked the eyes out of a couple winners like you said the good races and the good horses keep on with Adelaide and also Brisbane. I think J Max actually certainly picked up a couple of rides in Adelaide looking to sort of pick up a group one down there as well just add on to the CV. So he's look out Adelaide uh J Max in town so you know it's exciting times and then like Josh said as well uh Hong Kong with some feature racing too so keen to catch up next week again boys no and thank you to you as well Josh go well this weekend yeah thanks you two boys looks a cracking card there at Ramwick but like like we've talked about Mornington WA looks outstanding with Adelaide uh and Brisbane the cum and like you said uh J Mac on generosity there and the Robert Sankster coming up shortly so he finds them in every state J Mac so uh you can't keep him out of it for long but good luck this weekend boys no that's it and to all the listeners out there good luck to you as well hopefully you're back a stack of winners and as always good luck on the punt we're right to run red light now ready to run they're all set and they're up and racing the gate crash back in Wagga Wagga
