She is also interested in clothing design and sewing and we discuss how spacial relationships that we think of in engineering terms apply in sewing as well.

Acronyms, Definitions, and Fact Check

Dress Form – a three-dimensional model of the torso used for fitting clothing that is being designed or sewed. When making a piece of clothing, it can be put on the dress form so one can see the fit and drape of the garment as it would appear on a body, and make adjustments or alterations. (Wikipedia)

Understitching – a line of stitches that are sewn close to the edge of a facing to keep it from rolling toward the outside. It comes in especially handy when sewing around a neckline.
