After the last few months, I couldn't agree more. Welcome to the strive seek buying podcast. I'm your host chance Whitmer. In celebration of Episode 51, I'm trying something a little bit new today. So it's the first step in an experiment. I've been wanting to take the podcast a little more mobile. So at the suggestion of friend of the show, Mike, I picked up a new road mic for my phone. So my adventuring has a new companion. Which Today we are going to work through for multiple purposes. To see if my idea works in the great outdoors. And to finally get back into the mountains before I lose my ever loving mind. Now let's get started. Welcome to the strife see crime podcast. I'm chance Whitmore. Hey, try a little experiment today guys. out on a little road trip up in the mountains, picked up a Rode mic to see if I could bring back some of the sounds with me. family's off on there a little hike, I'm kind of off on mine. And God, I can't begin to describe how much I needed this. I gotta be in the trees. I'm in the sun. I listen to the bugs. I can feel my shoulders unknotting. As I say this. This is very much an unplanned jaunt. Instead of figuring out where we're going, what we're doing, we got in the car and just started driving, change directions once and have ended up about three miles beyond the campground out near Idaho City. Idaho City, for those of you who do not know, is a small town. Old gold mining town, I think of it is an end of the road town where people go when they don't necessarily want to be found. And it's a tremendous gateway into the the mountains in many, many directions. So it's gorgeous up here. And it's more than worth your time to see. Right now I'm staring at Pine trees all around. And just generally, like I said, relaxing. More than anything today, I'm trying to seek peace. Because let's be honest, if you don't do that, from time to time, excuse the dog, you get wound up so tight in your head and in your guts that you don't even recognize your own goals anymore. And honestly, I've been on the edge of it for about two months. And I've been trying to get to the hills for about two months. So this is a little bit of salvation right now. So one of the hikes that Amy and I are going to hit this summer without the kids involves a 25% grade for over a mile. We found something on this outing that has the right grade, nowhere near the length. And admittedly I'm still out of shape, completely swinging to try and see exactly how out of breath we're going to be in two to three minutes. Back in a second. Not a hard hike. But I will tell you I was 62 feet 62. Yeah, steps. It's enough to give you get your heart pounding just a little bit when you haven't been doing anything so and Jeff says that that may not be actually 25% grade. That might that other hike might be a little out of our range. I disagree. Hey, we have two months to be ready. But we got to get ready. For me, hitting the hills is cathartic It is my best way to begin to reset and restore myself after a long year, or a tough week, or anything else that might have me ground down a little bit. I guess the point comes down to this experiment was a short adventure. It is also a return to a time not focused on work, or survival stress. I've often talked about challenging yourself, making yourself better. And I strongly believe in. I also understand that if you're too focused on the six inches in front of your face, which is to say, the problems you're facing the small things that always seem to distract or need your attention, stress from other sources. They all impede your vision that keep your blinders on. And because of that, you lose the ability to see the future for what it can be the ability to see your way forward. You have to find your release from the grind to be able to see your own brilliant future. For me, it's the mountains. It's moments of peace alone with family. With friends, we're alone. What is it for you? Let me know. Shout outs. I know I mentioned this at the opening but a huge shout out to Mike dancy for a suggestion of using the Rode mic. For the getting back to nature part of the podcast. Like couldn't have happened without you. If you love computers and tech support, check out Mike's YouTube channel. worth mentioning today is worth mentioning comes from an article by Elise Stanley on Gizmodo. The age of autonomous killer robots may already be here. So this has been a popular topic in science fiction for decades, possibly, most famously with James Cameron's Terminator series, but it's been a real world concern since the invention of the first drone. In this case, the story discusses how it is believed that the Libyan government used the cargo to attack quadric koppert copter say that fast three times, to hunt down opposition forces autonomously as to what this means. They were retreating. And the drones were attacking Kamikaze style autonomously. The Turkish company that builds these say that it can be flown or led to operate autonomously and can attack in single or swarm autonomously the most basic terms It is believed that for the first time in human history, artificial intelligence was used to hunt and kill human beads. Now, for me, this is a frightening concern for the future. And for that reason alone, it's worth checking out. I posted this article on the strive seek pride page on Facebook.
