5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Welcome to the Village Confidential.
Speaker 3Hello everyone.
Speaker 1Christine Ernesto and Dr Brad King.
Speaker 4What.
Speaker 1So I'm not paying you anymore.
Speaker 3But she's taking it.
Speaker 4I had a dollar for everything and I kind of look up my phone and I am in Narnia.
Speaker 1I feel like I know you well, aren't we the models of consistency? This is like.
Speaker 4This is episode three of season three it's incredible, and it only it didn't take us two years to record this.
Speaker 1It's already 30 longer than season two really is in season zero, wherever the fuck we called that. Well, well, well, guess who's in the studio tonight?
Speaker 3who who? You oh, I know christine's back, welcome back.
Speaker 1Fucking whooping cough or something.
Speaker 3Right how you doing kid oh, my god, it was so much better. That was awful, honestly. Okay. So here's the reckon. This is what I, this is what I realized. That was only the second time I've had covid, because I thought I was like all the other times I was sick. I'm like, oh, this must be COVID, this must be COVID. Uh-uh, that was so brutal I have like. It took me up for three weeks. I was so sick for three weeks.
Speaker 1Yeah, I've got. I've got friends on that ride right now and they are not fucking enjoying it Like it is. Uh, should have got the booster, boost it up.
Speaker 3I don't know, I don't know. I wonder if that would have made a difference or not.
Speaker 1Well, now we get to round eight of this, because so does it get worse each time you get sick after it I, I don't know nobody fucking knows, because they have no idea what they injected us with nobody gets it anymore because nobody's testing yeah oh, is there? Is there a test for that for an app?
Speaker 4I believe they're all expired do you want a booster?
Speaker 1I'm good. So to celebrate christine's return, welcome back, we should. We should play your theme song oh yeah, let's do that you know what her theme song is, don't you? Oh, christine, waking up from the dead Hammered, waking up from the absolute dead. So, just to go back, we're out at the lake having a good party and Christine goes to have a little nap and we crank this tune on and she sits up like the Undertaker from a dead sleep.
Speaker 4And wanders out and starts dancing immediately right into dance moves.
Speaker 1Right into dance moves. That was so fun. Welcome back.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 4This is cool to have everybody in the room again, long time coming, not having to worry about COVID.
Speaker 1Well, you don't, yeah, I don't, yeah, I don't I think I got smoked by it, but I I was a couple good weeks. Yeah, I had a nasty cough oh, I never had a cough. It didn't go into my chest or anything at all yeah, just all up in my nose yeah, it was probably the titos andarts that gave me the cough.
Speaker 1Might have been there might have been the throat's a little scratchy An accelerator. There may have been an accelerator at the lake the week before. We'd go get the truck. So Noel Gabe and I just did some damage, for we were there 48 hours. Hours, oh, at the lake for 48 hours, yeah, because we go get my truck right, all the rent was going on here. I need a few dump runs and we went through darts like there was no tomorrow on the beach and the bonfire was 12, 12 feet it was. It was pretty awesome it was epic.
Speaker 1So the burn pile is gone. So that's the main thing, and my house isn't. That's also good. That's the second part of that of having a 12-foot bonfire. You want to make sure the structures aren't a part of it.
Speaker 4That's a good way to test your fire safety.
Speaker 1It's decent anyways. So yeah, what'd you get up to?
Speaker 4doctor. Oh, I've been traveling the country for sports, for my kids Ring it. Yeah, there's racking up titles yeah, we won. Well, cadence, my oldest, won the city championships last last week, which is really exciting. And then we went up to Edmonton for her provincial championships this past weekend Nice and they didn't have the best weekend and finish where they wanted to, but they still played really well. But it was interesting because they this is her last year. She's going off to university next year.
Speaker 3Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4So this is her last year playing for Northwest ringette Wow, and there's a bunch of kids on her team that are aging out or schooling out when she's in the four and the ladder schooling out. So the final game they played, um, they were playing this other team from calgary bow view and that when they finished the game, both teams are standing there kind of arm and arm looking up at the stands and all the parents are up there and this was like a mass sobbing session, like every player on the ice was absolutely ugly crying, the coaches were crying, the parents were all crying and it was like it was super funny but also really emotional yeah, I remember colton's last game, man, yeah, and it it was.
Speaker 1It was like bankruptcy slowly then, all of a sudden, they fucking lost they lost that series quick and it was over. Yeah, and it was his shittiest year of hockey like enjoyment level. So I I don't think it was as emotional. It's different when you're kind of going the provincials, which they did the year before, uh, but yeah it was sad. And then looking back now how much he loves hockey still, I'm just glad he still loves hockey, yeah right, that's the key.
Discussion on Various Topics
Speaker 4This was her the best season that she's had, probably maybe not in terms of results, although it was really really good. But just her teammates are just so tight and the coaches were awesome, the parents were awesome, like it was a fun year and I'm happy the year's over because it's a grind. You know, you guys both know having kids in sports, but, um, I was surprised how emotional it was. I wasn't prepared for it yeah so, yeah, we'll see what the next chapter is so can.
Speaker 3Will she pay ring at in university like is is that something? Is that a thing?
Speaker 4I wasn't not sure yeah, possibly, yeah, okay, so Cool Hope she does.
Speaker 1That's a good thing for her. Different teams and stuff right yeah, Does she know where she wants to go? Is she going to stay in town or what?
Speaker 4No, we're looking at Dalhousie or University of Saskatchewan.
Speaker 1So the lead is as far away as possible. Yeah, well, I'm like. Well, hey, is that what you're going for If you go to Dalhousie?
Speaker 4that's a cool place to go, but if you get into trouble, fly to Europe, because it's a lot closer than we are.
Speaker 1It's a lot closer. Yeah, it was so wild. Colton didn't want to go away.
Speaker 4Really, yeah. Well, casa Ernesto, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's pretty sweet, steen.
Speaker 3Yes.
Speaker 1What have you been up to? You're still a Canadian.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, I'll always be a Canadian. I'm not going to become an American.
Speaker 1but why not? Um we need a noisy American on the show.
Speaker 3Oh my God, but I can't. I get, I get uncomfortable, especially one from Arizona. Yeah, I know.
Speaker 4I get uncomfortable. Can we get you a mega hat for your trip down?
Speaker 3there. How many followers do you have on truth Social? Oh my gosh, seriously Nice.
Speaker 1Dawn made a nice pass this morning. Yeah, seriously, 9.5 bill. Yeah, pay that, fine Dawn.
Speaker 3I heard he was selling Bibles 59, 99 a piece.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, good.
Speaker 3Hey, I mean, apparently he's never read a. I heard he was selling Bibles $59.99 a piece. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1Good, eh, like I mean, apparently, he's never read a Bible in his life. Can he sell half a billion worth, though, is the question that is the question. That's actually a really interesting question. Yeah, yeah, we should do a poll on that. We should do a poll Mental, though. Yeah.
Speaker 3So what have you been up to? You're on the road last week, so tell me yeah, no, I was in vegas, I was in vegas last week, which, oh yeah, looking for, uh, another covid sample oh, my god, that's what I was at.
Speaker 3Tray show, yeah, so it was great amusement expo. So it's kind of one of the smaller expos on the amusement scene but it was really cool because smaller scale, it's not as busy as the big one that we usually have in Florida every year, so more time to talk to manufacturers and game suppliers and make connections and grow the community that we're trying to build there right now. So it was really cool. We saw some neat stuff, looked at all some of the new trends that are coming out in entertainment, saw some really cool arcade games. Atari is actually back with a new game console and game cabinet, which is really really cool and neat. And yeah, it was. Yeah, we had a couple experiences there, so it was good, yeah.
Speaker 1Experiences, was this another dark room?
Speaker 3No, no, no, no. This was, oh my God, Actually okay.
Speaker 1It was, Actually it was.
Speaker 3It was a dark room to be honest with you yes, where all the remnants yeah, oh yeah, but no, it was this place. Have you guys heard of area 15? It's in vegas. It's this new entertainment place. It's got all the cool entertainment in it, like it's got a meow wolf and it's got like an experience where you can go it. They take you up high and you do the drinking experience in the sky and like the retro arcade and stuff like that. And then they have a bunch of other kind of immersive things on the outside.
Speaker 3But we went to this rum tasting one and I it's the name of it. Is this totally escaping me right now? This is what happens when you get old. But you go in and it's kind of like a speakeasy. That's got kind of live entertainment in it and you walk around and do the rum tasting at different stations and then the entertainment is set up all throughout and they bring entertainment out every 10 minutes and they'll do like uh, some sort of uh circus act or a singing show, or there's this one where this gorilla came out and danced and there's a girl underneath and she takes the gorilla outfit off, Like it was just really neat.
Speaker 1What was she wearing? Oh, just a bikini underneath. She was like oh, oh, of course there was a bikini underneath. I knew it. I should have like, I should have said it first, but that's the first thing I thought, but so then she comes off with the bikini and then she takes the bikini off and you're like, okay, what's gonna happen?
Speaker 3and she had another bikini on underneath, so yeah, but she was double bikini she was double bikini. Yeah, that's a tease. Yeah, that's, isn't, that's heartbreak hotel.
Speaker 4It's a you're. That's a strong move from gorilla to bikini, but to go to the second bikini is kind of like that's marginal.
Speaker 3Yeah, that slows down a little bit.
Speaker 1People were cheering, so of course they were a bunch of perverts. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3But yeah, it was fun. It was really good time up to last.
Speaker 1thank you very much, do tell I went to chicago oh nice yeah yeah, not the musical the town gotcha. Yeah, not the band but I wish that would have been awesome. That would have been good. So I'm gonna go back on this one a little bit. It was last we have some way back sounds uh, no, because I jammed a bunch of other shit on there.
Speaker 1I don't have a dream sequence on there. I had to put Bieber on there to welcome Christine back. Obviously, welcome back. So impulse buy in the fall. So last summer I was introduced to zach bryan so I went like I just wanted to see him in concert and, uh, maybe I'm gonna play this little clip, just so like I love this guy's writing, like I love, love it, and I think I set this one to Kane. But just listen to the words on this song, it's pretty good.
Speaker 4This is a really immersive experience.
Speaker 1Right, yeah, I did some homework today.
Speaker 4It's impressive.
Speaker 1I know.
Speaker 4Are you going to sing along to this?
Speaker 1No, he's going to cry. The first time I heard this song was at a concert, actually, oh what, I didn't see him in Chicago.
Speaker 2I think my soul take my heart, Take me apart. If I'm good for anything, it's all of this suffering to use me for part To you. I'm just salvage. I ain't ran right in years.
Speaker 3So drive me and gut me deceive and fuck me and disappear. Like dude can write because he's impressive.
Speaker 1He reminds me of taylor swift. Oh, stop already, just don't do not go down there.
Speaker 1So, anyways, so we go to the concert I'm speaking the truth, but yeah, okay so we'll so, impulse bought, had no one to go with, so I bring my friend on a Brit, okay, and I get to this concert. It was like taking sand to the beach. I had no idea. It was like I've been to Bieber and it was like four guys at Bieber the restaurant. It was the same thing as Zach Bright. Really it was insane. So anyways, united Center this is my one beef like amazing facility, like unbelievably expensive drinks.
Speaker 4Were they 18 or more per beer? Like unbelievably expensive drinks.
Speaker 1Were they 18 or more for a beer. So I bought a round of Tito's and soda, of course, of course, and it was 70, some odd bucks.
Speaker 3So it's like for two for two doubles.
Speaker 4Sorry so four drinks for 70 US or US.
Speaker 1So we're, we're.
Speaker 4Like a hundo plus.
Speaker 1Oh, and it's impossible. It is like a beautiful mind trying to figure out how to not give a tip on the console that they have. It's impossible. And it starts at 22% yeah, 22. 22% tip For what, right? Yeah, it's 22, 22 percent tip for what, right?
Speaker 4so I mean custom tip and I'm trying to figure it out and doing the math, I'm converting it to canadian.
Speaker 1You're the calculator guy. Oh my god anyways. So I get for on a bread. Has to go and get around. She goes to get around next day. She's fucking raging. Her round was 120, some odd dollars. What so? Something happened. She must have hit the 22 percent like oh she got smoked and she was raging.
Speaker 4It was awesome chicago's super sympathetic about that too oh. Oh, you're upset too bad, fuck off.
Speaker 1Yeah, but to tell you, like Chicago, great place, food's great, shopping's good. It's just so much history there. It's cool, it's a cool spot.
Speaker 4Do you guys do an architecture tour around there?
Speaker 1It was too cold, man, I wasn't doing. I've done it before, yeah, and everyone's like oh, you got to go on the. No, I'm not sitting on that boat with the wind whipping through town, and it was. It was cold, man. When it comes off the lake.
Speaker 4Yeah, Cold damp.
Speaker 1And it just goes through. You, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4So anyways, that was that, so concert was good. The thing I really I really appreciate about him is he's um 27 songs, just as an aside. So he's saying it's a good playlist. It was did he play shake it off?
Speaker 1No, he didn't.
Speaker 3Did he go for three and a half hours?
Speaker 1Almost yeah.
Speaker 3Oh, he's trying to match Taylor's record.
Speaker 1Well, almost. Yeah. Oh, he's trying to match taylor's record all you didn't need to dance his way through three and a half hours, like he's saying so does she?
Speaker 3no, she doesn't she does for three and a half hours and she dances she, yeah, but she sings the whole time yeah, her concert is phenomenal and I know you don't like her, but you can't knock her you got that concert at no point did I say I don't like her when because name one time you don't like her, no name one time.
Speaker 1I know you don't like her, no name one time before you're not doing this to me Cause. I am not answering these DMs I'm not answering these DMs from the Swifties.
Speaker 4Where did Taylor Swift is better come out of this conversation. That was a great song.
Speaker 3No, oh, it was no. Sorry, I you know what. I take that back, not that he's she's better than him, but she's amazing. And I'm just saying she, we have to appreciate her. She's amazing, that's all. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1Yeah, we have to appreciate that. She's amazing.
Speaker 4We'll devote a segment off air to this Well that I'm not at like you do it in your car, I am going to Taylor Swift in the, in the in the winter.
Speaker 3I went to her and I would go again. That's how good the concert is. It's so good, it's so well done, yep.
Speaker 1I went to Zach Bryant not go again.
Speaker 3I would go to Zach Bryant, though. I think he's amazing too.
Speaker 4So I like how how raw he is Like when he sings. I would say he's the great singer and his music is beautiful, but he's just raw, he connects.
Speaker 1Yeah yeah, I know Ana Bert's going to listen to this. Ana Bert, I'm glad you came, but it was definitely there. I was outnumbered by the women, so that's what I meant by that. Got it? Nothing disparaging.
Speaker 3Gotcha.
Speaker 2Thank God.
Speaker 1Yeah, she's a big fan Follower.
Speaker 3Cool Like follower.
Speaker 1Cool, like a lot of my friends. Speaking of which, we've lost some uh customers. It seems there has been a catastrophic, catastrophic drop off of our downloads, did we?
Speaker 4have customers. We should address this we should.
Speaker 1We had loyal fans and I guess the two-year gap weren't they from sri lanka though I don't know where they were from, but please come back. I promise we'll publish at least six episodes, yeah before the summer definitely yeah, I'm into this now. I'm like I'm back and I love it it's fine, I think our new recipe and we can't share it with the fans, but our new recipe is going to work, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4You just got to listen. Bear with us as we work out the recipe.
Speaker 3We have to cook it up, mix it up a few times, but we're all over it.
Speaker 1So I know I'm burning up clips, but I got, because this is kind of how season one went for Village and I miss it, but I don't. And what I don't miss is about this clip, okay, it was pretty drunky that first season.
Speaker 4Oh my God.
Speaker 1It's so good that you snagged that, because wait till you listen.
Speaker 2Another thing that does mind-winding is people, when they turn around and go. You're coming out for the beer and you're going. I'm trying to be good and they go, just come for one. What is the point of going for one? You know what I mean. They're just trying to pull the wool over your eyes, aren't they? You know what I mean. Whoever has one, I'm going to get up, put my clothes on, meet you in the booze. All right, man, you gotta listen to that. And then you have the beer, and that is it. We're going out. We're gonna go out. We're gonna have 100. You know what I mean. One hundred, you know what I mean you're gonna at least 10, aren't?
Speaker 1you know what I? Mean not a one liam gallagher, so good one of my favorite podcasts ever was liam gallher, and that was one of the beautiful clips from that so good.
Speaker 3And that was the first season.
Speaker 1That was the first season of Village. There was no way we could have one drink. You can listen to the glasses hitting the table.
Speaker 3Yeah, well, we figured it out Eventually. We padded the table so you can hear the glass. Yeah, cause we knew we were going to solve the it out Eventually.
Speaker 4we padded the table so you can hear the glass. Yeah, cause we knew we were going to solve the drinking problem, so we had to solve the sound problem.
Speaker 3That's right.
Speaker 1Not so sure the drinking problem has been resolved yet. Yeah, yeah so yeah, that uh, I was kind of sitting on that for a bit and I'm like that is like it did remind me of the first season of our show. Also, the party we had in Nelson it reminded me of that. Let's have one.
Speaker 4Yeah, we're not having one, we're having hundreds, but that season has some of the best stories though, yeah 100%.
Speaker 1So we got lots of stuff going on locally. Uh, brad, do you have any update on uh jody gondek's? Uh, get rid of the mayor campaign.
Speaker 4Uh, I know that she's not in favor of it you don't say hey apparently the, the. This landon johnson is the guy that put it together and and they met. Yeah, um and jody put together this response in writing that came out in city letterhead and it was. I thought it was really poor, to be honest with you, um, and I'm kind of neutral. The old argument, I'm interested to see how it plays out.
Speaker 1It's kind of tone deaf. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4What I was really intrigued by is that these two elderly women went out with their rattle cans and defaced all. Did they get charged? I don't know if they got charged or not, but they went out and defaced the recall conduct and changed it to say respect conduct. Oh wow, but isn't that a federal crime? Like if you do that with federal, like whatever election signage, yeah, so I'm curious as to what happened with these ladies.
Speaker 3But is that election signage or it's just signage?
Speaker 4I don't know it's still property right, Like I think it's vandalism.
Speaker 1Do you remember the outcry when one NDP sign got touched in the provincial election? It was like it. That news stream didn't stop. For sure it's funny and you didn't hear shit about.
Speaker 4You know the this sign getting painted over at anywho these two were like yeah, well, we'll do an interview, it's all good, so funny.
Speaker 1You should say that. So I have two team members that are in the Rotary and Jyoti was at the lunch today for the Rotary.
Speaker 4Ooh, so Did she take questions or did she slunk away?
Speaker 2She took questions, but from what I gathered they weren't questions.
Speaker 1There was a lot of statements oh good About the new.
Speaker 4The blanket rezoning.
Speaker 1Yes, the rezoning.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Speaker 1And she got carpet bombed by everyone.
Speaker 4She should Stupid policy.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, they're scared to run into through a plebiscite like come on, do it dare you, but of course jt's hanging our own tax dollars over our own heads as a carrot.
Speaker 4Yeah, it's just like I mean the whole thing is it goes against the air development plans. Um, you know, the community's put together is supposed to retain the feel of the communities, to densify areas yeah, but like you look at some of the places, like the place that I live, you know they're not throwing up infills for 200 grand, like there's going to be million dollar properties and that that doesn't solve an affordable housing problem. Yeah, yeah, properties and that that doesn't solve an affordable housing problem, yeah, yeah. So I you know the blanket rezoning. I think that, like, that's a recallable issue in my mind because that's not listening to the city, that's not listening to constituents no, but she hasn't, from the word go yeah hey, it's a climate emergency, you're only going to go solar panels, yeah, whatever okay, so part two of the shit storm spen, she's back
Speaker 4oh, let's talk about grimace I love spenchy, did you hear that he doubled the ndp membership just by entering the race?
Speaker 1wow and uh, there's a I can't remember the person's name. They're on.
Speaker 4Facebook. Somebody in Edmonton that just immediately was like well, I'm out.
Speaker 3Yeah, spenchies, here, I'm out.
Speaker 1Dropped out of the race. Wild.
Speaker 4Yeah, I mean yeah.
Speaker 1So it's going to be super exciting. He blows up budget for a city. Let's see if he can do it for two. Oh, he's three Might as well. Fort Mac's a hamlet, isn't it?
Speaker 4Oh yeah.
Speaker 1Grand Prairie is a city.
Speaker 4How many cities is it going to blow up?
Speaker 1now I thought Fort.
Speaker 4Mac was a city.
Speaker 1No, it's not, it's not, it is not Never been there.
Speaker 3Maybe if somebody follows us from Fort Mac, they can let us know I really wanted to head up there at some point just to understand what this Fort Mac's. I did that.
Speaker 4Did you find out? I don't even know if you go there and find out you lived yeah we flew in and flew out Okay.
Speaker 1It wasn't like. So let me just Okay, I'm an oil guy, but here's what we did. So, Suncorp takes us out to a reclaimed tailings pond. So you pull up to this thing and it has the vibe of a cemetery was leo dicaprio in the plane with you no leo wasn't there with me. There had been a lot of 25 year olds on that plane that was.
Speaker 1I was wondering if the ratio would be the same as the concert tell me about it anywho um, I had the vibe of a cemetery for birds fresh saplings, not one fucking animal and I'm talking. You're, you're staring in this wide open field with brand new trees in it, like no squirrel, like nothing. And then they have this like viewing area where you're standing and I literally turned to the guide. I'm like what are we fucking looking for here?
Speaker 4like it was like there was nothing.
Speaker 1It was just these trees and this brown grass as far as the eye could see. And I'm just like, am I in Herm's way right now? Like I know there's a bubbling mass of tailings pond underneath me right now.
Speaker 4Mr Wider, beyond the tailings pond, that is nature.
Speaker 1It was too quiet, I didn't like it, I didn't trust it. Yeah Right, it was too quiet, I didn't like it, I didn't trust it, yeah right, so anyways. So it was. They're very sensitive to it and I get it because people, you know, they come up there, they get the photo evidence that they want or the narrative that they want and they spin it. I get it. It's definitely not quite the lithium mine vibe, but it's fucking close right. Except we have human rights. So they don't like backfill over bodies once they got all the lithium, like they don't do that. You hope, hope. Well, you wouldn't think so? Wow, yeah, I don't think so, but they do that in lithium mines. But I love a good Tesla.
Speaker 4Hey, I mean, that's a fire that keeps burning man.
Speaker 1I love my boy Elon, but like EVs are, that's a wild one.
Speaker 4Yeah, I think it'll, it'll, it'll improve, it'll get better. I thought you were going to say it was a fad and I was going to knock my ass off, but I mean what?
Speaker 1You don't like coal fired vehicles. What's?
Speaker 4wrong with you? I got a stoke. I got a stoke.
Speaker 1The coal, the coal fire you know, shovel doesn't like a good coal fire yeah, vehicle.
Speaker 4I mean, I've never been to see a tailing punt. I have no idea what it's all about so I can't make a comment. But that being said, like these are some serious shit in the bottom of those things oh, I'm sure you want no part of yeah, I'm sure yeah, but the whole evie thing and I'm not talking ogopogo.
Speaker 1It might produce one. Yeah, I'm talking metal, yeah. Yeah, it's wild, what's in those things?
Speaker 4yeah, but I don't know the electric car thing. It's not for me. My truck is a is a hybrid like it's got a electric engine in it Is that pronouns Do you ever use? Pronouns yes.
Speaker 1Gas guzzler. Chris, did you like my meme I sent you about the joke about pronouns.
Speaker 3Which one you send so many. Oh yeah, the pronoun one, that one was good.
Speaker 4You got to refresh that one. What was that one was good you gotta refresh that one.
Speaker 1What was that one um? That's probably rad though yeah, pull it up okay, hold on a second but this brings up a good point. Christine just said. I said do I send too many?
Speaker 4no, you can't send too many.
Speaker 1Sometimes I get on heaters.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Speaker 1And I just can't stop.
Speaker 4If you're on a run, you've got to keep going. Don't change the underwear until you're done with the heater.
Speaker 1It's funny. I have friends that get offended by some of the ones I send, so they try and offend me back with their political view by sending me ones literally making fun of me, but I still laugh because I love me a good meme. Memes are what makes the world go round yeah.
Speaker 4I love them.
Speaker 1It was something about how do you kill.
Speaker 3How long could you send this?
Speaker 1It wasn't that long ago, but I did notice you're a bit shady, you. You had yours on vanish for a while my what you're? No, it was an accident.
Speaker 3I didn't I was like, and I was like what's?
Speaker 1yes, I said that christine is shady. Yeah, I was like people with vanish. I know most people put it on accidentally, but it's shady when you're like, oh my god, what are you getting that you're destroying? Like, are you, tom cruise? Is this mission impossible?
Speaker 3okay, I can't find it, do it. Do you remember what the picture was? Uh like this is how it was, it was.
Speaker 1It was those no, it was those aussies right and and the they were.
Speaker 3Oh, these two guys.
Speaker 1Yeah, when they, where they try and make each other laugh. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. That was the Manchester.
Speaker 2United one.
Speaker 3I'm trying to remember. Oh my gosh, this is how many like it's not even close.
Speaker 4I've got a couple of friends. We communicate memes back and forth.
Speaker 1Okay, here it is. I'm going to play it for the fans at home, okay.
Speaker 2How they slash them.
Speaker 1Simple yet effective. How do non-binary people kill people? They slash them. That's a great joke and I love the fact that these guys get together, try and make each other laugh, and if you laugh you gotta drink a shot.
Speaker 4It's awesome there's a couple of uh, that sounds like the first season of village. Yeah, but you just drink anyway.
Speaker 1We were drinking even when we were winning.
Speaker 3Everybody just drank. Yes, there's another guy. He's done something like that too. I love him. He's a marketer and he took his, he, him and he's like something wizard. I have to try to find him and I'm like that's a really clever way to show your pronouns. Do you know what I mean? And instead of actually going with the regular, I don't like showing mine. For some reason, I feel like I'm being judged by.
Speaker 1What are your pronouns she?
Speaker 3her, she, her right, Her she.
Speaker 1She it. You don't even know your pronouns.
Speaker 4Look what do they call that? It feels like christine's.
Speaker 1No, what do they call that when?
Speaker 2you pretend you're like. I just know I'm a whitewashing. What? And just a woman I don't know, isn't that terrible?
Speaker 3then I feel insensitive for saying that, so I don't know what's the right answer christine, you're not just a woman.
Speaker 1You're a she her I'm a she her.
Speaker 3Okay, let's move on from that before I get roasted again.
Speaker 1That was a fairly lively week of uh dms for me. Regarding that episode so I'm gonna steer away from that. So, nancy, I just want to go back to this for a second here. So, getting two pensions already, he's running for a third. What do you think?
Speaker 4I think he's going to win it.
Speaker 2I don't think the party leadership is going to win it. Oh, leadership, yeah, I don't think he's going to win it, but there's no way he wins an election.
Speaker 4I don't think so Not like now with the momentum PCs have right now or the conservatives have right now.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 4That said, you know I mean what was the stat? The last leader of that party to make it four years was Ralph Klein it's wild. It's wild. So there's a good chance. Based on statistics, she doesn't last the full term.
Speaker 1No, oh wow. Well, it just depends. It depends on where the party's at and how they feel about she. Matches up against whoever the opponent's going to be Right.
Speaker 4It is, but you know but the problem with that party is that they are so broadly constituted Like. I don't know how you unite the thing. The United Conservative is such a misnomer because they're anything but.
Speaker 1Yeah, and I think NDP and Conservatives suffer from the same ailment Because they're. You have a lot of if you look at the federal NDP there like there's there's major issues there, like there's a lot of people not happy about Jagmeet, jagmeet being the choir, choir boy for JT, like there's a lot of membership that are not happy with that.
Speaker 4It's the only way that you can legitimize that party. Cause what do they have? One seat or two seats or something?
Speaker 1I think it's going to be worse this time around.
Speaker 4Could, be.
Speaker 1I mean Like his seat will be gone.
Speaker 3You mean worse, like they're going to have less seats. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1October 2025, I think.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 1Now it's a week later because they changed the election. Oh, did they?
Speaker 4They won an extra week.
Speaker 3What the hell that's going to do.
Speaker 1Something financially for? No, I'm sure they're pushing some citizenships through in October of 25.
Speaker 4Right, exactly how many non-confidence motions is Polyev going to put in between now and?
Speaker 2next.
Speaker 4October.
Speaker 1It's. You know, I just want it like, I just want it to be over. I just we've. Canada has taken so many steps back on the international stage. We just need to get back in the game here. Like, put me in coach, put anyone in, just someone, yeah, and I, literally I'm at the point.
Speaker 1I don't care what side of the aisle they're from, we just need someone else and we need to get rid of that terrorist of an environment minister fast oh yeah, goop, goop, goop, goobo, that's what steven goobo say I'm working on that tragedy, that goobo, yeah, yeah, not too many people like them, like um people that I deal with downtown and they're kind, they are on the left side and they're working on the environment side. Even so, he just does wild shit. I mean, he comes out of left field, doesn't keep anyone in the loop, doesn't talk to anyone and just blindsides everyone, even on his own team, and it's just, it's Bush league, it really is. He's still in that green peace mode.
Speaker 4Oh, I mean, that's his, seems to be his agenda through this whole thing. He'll announce this stuff and then the whole party's like, no, that's not what we meant. It's like well, you're the minister, yeah, like, what are you doing?
Speaker 1so this is a fascinating thing. So you know how they do these press conferences and they run out guibo and then there's like 10 plebs behind them, you know, and they all stand united. Can you imagine what that selection process is like? Like behind the doors? Okay, guipo is up today, who wants to like?
Speaker 1and everyone takes a step back all hands in everyone who wants to go take a step forward and a bunch of people step backwards. Damn it, I fell for it again. That's literally what that is right. Can you imagine being politician and just getting hammered constantly like it's?
Speaker 3a tough gateway, not in the village way but a little larger audience, sadly yeah, you have to have like a thick skin, that's for sure, right?
Speaker 4yeah, I don't know. I don't think any of us was past the sniff test to get into that position. No, no, there's two seasons worth of information they could use. I don't know, I don't think any of us was past the sniff test to get into that position. There's two seasons worth of information they could use.
Speaker 1It's just wild, yeah. So you shared something pretty funny with me. Costco had something for sale. What, uh, oh yeah.
Speaker 4About. So apparently um cause Costco has everything and buying power, um, so you can order a coffin on Costco, I think it's free shipping Free shipping.
Speaker 1So just coming to the door or like afterwards, is there delivery After you fill it up? Just wait here, I'll be right back. I got the label for going the other way, right Return label.
Speaker 4But right over top of the opening. Yeah.
Speaker 3This is really fascinating. Who who orders a coffin to their home?
Speaker 4I mean well.
Speaker 3I assume it's someone else, I know, but like you wouldn't, you'd order it to a funeral home.
Speaker 1I think Sean Combs probably did P Diddy P.
Speaker 4Diddy.
Speaker 1My bad.
Speaker 3Think about this for a second though. Like okay, if you're when you die, if you ordered a coffin, how are you going to have a funeral? Because I bet you the funeral homes aren't going to allow you to come in with your own coffin. Like they want to upsell and they want to make money off of that. So could they deny service and deny a funeral for you if you don't buy one of their coffins?
Speaker 1Have either of you guys been through this?
Speaker 4I'm still alive.
Speaker 3No, no, no, no no.
Speaker 4I had to go through this for my mom.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, I heard it's a racket. It is bullshit. It's complete bullshit. So you wheel in there right with all your siblings, because you're super, super close and it's all money right. Like it is all money and they're. They have their nice laminated pages of the book full of coffins, so you're buying stuff. In my mom's case she was um help me out, lit on what was uh cremated.
Speaker 1Cremated, sorry, my bad I'm just tripping on words today lit on fire. Okay, yeah, you yuck it up. But okay, you're not allowed to just fire them in the furnace, right, yeah, they got to be in something right, yeah and they sell you that something to be in right. So that's the urn or whatever right no that's literally lighting money on fire. No, it's not the urn it's the fucking box they burn, you they push you in yeah, yeah, yeah, literally lighting money on fire.
Speaker 3And then you have to earn after that, and then you got to collect it, right?
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah and then you got to park it somewhere.
Speaker 4Right.
Speaker 1Right, mm-hmm Rock it.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1Yeah, mm-hmm. So they throw in a tree in their memorial garden for you.
Speaker 4Oh, that's nice.
Speaker 1It's in fish Creek. That's nice. They plant a tree. Another ceremony right. So here's the God bless my mom, but that was like the worst. It was the worst.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Speaker 1And I didn't blame my dad. My dad was like uh, I don't know, I'm not getting cremated. I'm not getting cremated. I'm like that's a move. That's a strong move, Because we bought the packages at the same time. I'm like strong move there, I wouldn't either.
Speaker 4After watching that. So the thing with the Costco coffins you ready for this? For shipping, you first and last name of the deceased, the company name of the mortuary and the address of the mortuary. So you're literally like ordering it and it delivers within two business days. I want to check the shipping and returns. So if you you've heard of.
Speaker 1You've heard of swatting people, right.
Speaker 3Yes, what's swatting?
Speaker 1Swatting is when you basically call the police with a fake call.
Speaker 3That would bring the SWAT team to your neighbor's door. Yes, yes, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1How gangster would that be? To send a cough into someone's door? Oh my God, that would be gangster.
Speaker 4Gangster, would that be. Oh, yeah, ouch, that would be gangster. Gangster with that. Yeah, ouch, that's got to be a chargeable offense, that's got to be a threat. Is that a death threat? That's, I would think it is but it doesn't sound like.
Speaker 3It doesn't sound like you can do that anyway. They've shut, they. They're making you send it to mortuary. They probably double check it, right yeah it's costco.
Speaker 4I don't know if they do.
Speaker 1So what's the costco?
Speaker 4coffin cost two thousand ninety nine dollars wow, that's cheap.
Speaker 1Yeah right, well, there's oh my gosh, there's reviews.
Speaker 4I can't, I just can't we've got 11 five star reviews I.
Speaker 3it's a Costco coffin, I don't know. I'm kind of I kind of dig this.
Speaker 4The one star is I bought this casket and the handle ripped off during my father's service. Terrible product.
Speaker 3No, it does not say that.
Speaker 4It does say that right here it's so bad.
Speaker 3I feel like that's a lot. Oh my gosh, there's no way.
Speaker 1So what's the coffin rated for? For weight Maybe dad was heavy.
Speaker 4Well, they're actually, so the weight is 240 pounds. It doesn't say what you could put in it, so I can't tell you that I don't know.
Speaker 1So it's 240 pounds. Just to start, paul Bearer is a tough gig, man. Yeah, so it's 240 pounds just to start. Yeah, Paul bearers is tough gig man yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So what do you do if the handle snaps off? You got to get your knees.
Speaker 2You got to get under. I think you got to get under it.
Speaker 3You got to get under it, put it on the shoulder.
Speaker 4Like remember those, the guys that do the dance with the caskets.
Speaker 1This is going wrong.
Speaker 4I know.
Speaker 3I know you need to tell us about this. Do you know about this?
Speaker 4Yeah, it's all over social media. You've seen this before, right, I have not Okay. Well, I'll find it Okay and we'll link it. But basically, these guys have this whole routine dance that they bring in with these caskets, and I think that they bring in with these caskets and I think that they're now being hired to do this during ceremonies, but is there people and bodies in these caskets?
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 3Oh sheesh. I'll find it Interesting.
Speaker 1This is not what I thought we were going to talk about Me neither.
Speaker 3I love these little rabbit holes.
Speaker 1I was so excited and this has been like dreary sad.
Speaker 2You want to talk about luke bryan again, it's zach oh yeah, that's zach, bryan do you want to talk about jennifer swift again?
Speaker 1jennifer swift, karen swift, karen Swift, oh she is yeah, okay.
Speaker 3But before we leave this talk it. I wanted to tell you guys have you seen or talk about, have you seen, the new way that you can actually get buried? So they'll take your body and they built these eggs and they take your body all and they crunch it all up into like a ball and they stick you in this egg capsule and they put a tree in there with fertilizer and stuff and they drop it into the ground and so that you get planted with this tree on top of you and it uses your body for fertilizer. That's how I want to be. That's how I want to do with my body when I die.
Speaker 1I'm definitely not into that.
Speaker 3But think of the tree. The tree grows into you and it uses you for fuel and energy, and then you know what I mean. A little bit of you grows out in the tree.
Speaker 1So a little bit of weed on the way over for the pod tonight.
Speaker 2No, it's true, it's a true thing, a little bit of chronic, oh wow, oh Steve.
Speaker 3I just thought it was a really neat idea.
Speaker 4Now, I don't think it's, that's wild.
Speaker 3They haven't legalized it yet because obviously you got to put bodies in the ground in certain spots but okay, so this is the dancing funeral. I have not seen this.
Speaker 4These guys out of Ghana and they do this whole dance with the funeral casket.
Speaker 3Okay, this is funny, good stuff.
Speaker 1That's wild.
Speaker 4Yeah, be talented. Anyway, it doesn't look like a Costco model to me.
Speaker 3No, yeah, be talented. Anyway, it doesn't look like a Costco model to me. No, yeah, it's pretty decorative.
Speaker 1That's a recession-proof deal. 100%, yeah, 100%.
Speaker 3Wow.
Speaker 1Wow, we're just burning through the topics here, oh boy Just cooking Got a lot to say Drag Christine out of her womb.
Speaker 3Oh, I know, I'm still feeling flaggy. Yeah, totally yeah yeah, that's good.
Speaker 1Um, so can we talk about jan harden? Let's talk about our friend jan. So I hate coming back to spenchy, but she threw in the you know her support, and, um, what was her big song? Insensitive, yeah, one of them yep, I was stunned at looking some of her twitter posts like she's pretty raw, yeah, she raw dogged. A few of them like absolutely raw dogged. A few of them like what was the one? Why don't you go fuck your eye socket, was that? Or yeah, yeah, that was that was the text.
Speaker 4Yeah, like I don't know how you, as a celebrity, think that that's gonna land well with your fans or your enemies.
Speaker 3It's just weird. It's wild, wild, right it's unhinged.
Speaker 1Yeah, and I didn't come unhinged when I went to a shitty restaurant when it was open in town and it was shitty. Arden was its name. I think there's a Boston pizza there now.
Speaker 3Oh, that was the hot dog place, right?
Speaker 1No, no, it was like a smaller restaurant and the food was garbage.
Speaker 3So I actually played baseball with her brother who owned that Arden yeah.
Speaker 4He owned the Arden yeah.
Speaker 3Yeah, but I know that they were struggling like the whole time, and I think that's. Yeah, I think she had to like throw money at it, or something like that. So, yeah, that was a long time ago though, wasn't it?
Speaker 1Yeah, it was a long time ago, like she was definitely in cal, like that's the. I always get sad when people leave alberta and then they they cast stones from wherever they are she's not here anymore no, she's out in toronto, isn't? She, oh yeah I think she's in toronto.
Speaker 4She doubled down on that. I was just looking up the the tweet. Yeah, so anyway, she said it a couple times on Twitter, 100%.
Speaker 1She likes doing that and she'll also. There are people and you and I talked about this previously where she said she's never going to fly on WestJet again because of Pierre Polivare coming back from the conservative.
Speaker 4I was just wondering where he did like a kind of a campaign style speech on his plane.
Speaker 1Yeah, but it was a charter coming back.
Speaker 4Yeah, with all of his staff.
Speaker 1Yeah so. And then she said she's never going to fly in West jet again. So then people will go in the comment section and just post a picture of a West jet plane and she blogs, she, blogs them, she and just post a picture of a WestJet plane and she blogs them.
Speaker 3She blogs them, she will blog them. Okay, I dare you, I double-dug, dare you to do it.
Speaker 1I'm saving it for something really good, something meaningful, because I'm not a big fan of WestJet myself.
Speaker 4They're slowly becoming the worst airline in the world for on-time flights Not slowly.
Speaker 3Every single time. But Air Canada is no better, honestly.
Speaker 1You know where Air Canada is better they have their own ground crew and you're not waiting an hour and a half to get your suitcase after a flight.
Speaker 3I have learned the art of taking my suitcase with me. Now I just pack on the plane and I just buy wherever I go, because I cannot wait. There was one flight and it was a West West jet flight. I was waiting for two hours to get my bag. Yeah, it was brutal, awful.
Speaker 1So yeah, they don't hit they got. When Onyx took over. They got rid of their ground skirt.
Speaker 3That's. That's what happened with West jet.
Speaker 1That's why I kind of like, if I have a choice, I'll go air Canada, because yeah, but you can't get the problem.
Speaker 3The thing that I struggle with is I I travel to phoenix all the time and I cannot get a direct flight to phoenix, so I have to fly to vancouver to phoenix, and that adds another potentially three hours with west jet or with their canada. There's no, direct west jet. I can go direct, so I'm just I've seen you pack.
Speaker 1There's no way you do carry on I've learned to do carry on seriously.
Speaker 3I have because, but in phoenix, when you came to, austin.
Speaker 1When you came to austin, you took a separate flight just so you could pack your own shit. Because our connection was too tight. She went on a different flight just so she could bring check a. That's amazing.
Speaker 3Yeah, well, I've changed.
Speaker 1Clearly this is fascinating.
Speaker 4Yeah, when we were in Europe last summer. I can tell you those airports and airlines have it figured out. Oh yeah, they charge you for everything, but you are coming off the airplane and your bag is sitting there already dusty Beautiful.
Speaker 1Beautiful.
Speaker 2Really, yeah, it's impressive.
Speaker 4Yeah, yeah, yeah pretty dusty, beautiful Really. Yeah, it's impressive.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I mean I have a Nexus and that's why it started to really bug me, cause I'm like I'd be the first off and I'm sitting there tooling my thumbs waiting for the bags to come out, and then everybody else is walking off. It took carry on in and I'm like okay on nexus guy.
Speaker 4It's like I love watching next people wait I don't have nexus either, but I have a costco executive membership well, and nexus is even up their game.
Speaker 3Like, you don't need a card or anything anymore, I just go in, I stand there, they scan my eyes and away I go I was talking to a border services agent.
Speaker 4He said like the nexus lines are now longer none.
Speaker 3I mean. Every once in a while I've got caught in a line where nexus is longer, but it's because they're not using the new system, anything that's got the new system in with the retinal scan you're in and out so fast yeah, like you can get in and sit down and wait in another place with nexus.
Speaker 3Basically is what it is right yeah, that's cool, that's good well, and you get tsa pre-checked too in the us, so you can bypass all the security lines, which is really awesome so like the pat you down goes through the scanner kind of lines you can bypass that yeah, well, you bypass the main line and you go through the tsa line.
Speaker 3It's way shorter and you don't usually have to take your shoes and your belt and your watch and everything off, and your your laptop doesn't have to typically come out of your backpack, unless you're in canada, then they don't care, so yeah, or in fort lauderdale. I just went in the tsa pre-check line anyways and went through well, you know, I would try that too if I didn't have it.
Speaker 4The random I'd be happy to be swapped for explosives and go the shorter line. That'd be fine.
Speaker 1I did not know that, so that's fascinating. So okay, crew, I think that's a good start for the week. What do you got on the coming along for you, mr Kane?
Speaker 4Flying to New Brunswick next Friday.
Speaker 3Big flight yeah.
Speaker 2I'm flying.
Speaker 4Porter Airlines.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, I've never flown Porter before. Yeah, I heard it's bad. I heard it's great. Porter's a huge fan. Yeah, I heard it's awesome. He's a huge fan.
Speaker 4Yeah, so we're out there for Ringette Nationals. So, this season officially has three weeks left and $6,000. That's what it's going to take to get across the finish line.
Speaker 1Yeah, Where's my meat bro?
Speaker 4Oh, I think it comes tomorrow night.
Speaker 1I won't be here.
Speaker 4I guess I'll stick that in my freezer.
Speaker 1Thanks, appreciate that, appreciate that pile of meat.
Speaker 4I might need a key to your house for your freezer.
Speaker 1I don't think so. It was intended for the lake Stine. You're on the jet and you're going.
Speaker 3Nexus somewhere. Not next week, but the week after I'm in. Phoenix again, and then I'm in Indianapolis.
Speaker 1What's in Indianapolis?
Speaker 3Oh, just one of the groups that I work with. They develop products out there. So I'm going to tour their facility, which is cool, like mini golf and laser tag and vr stuff, so that's gonna be neat. And then after that I'm in london. So london, england, what's in london? I'm working on a distribution deal for a new attraction I want to bring to north america. So I've got that deal dialed down and so just going to meet with him and just kind of check out his product in person.
Speaker 1So, yeah, cool very cool jet set, very cool Jet set lifestyle.
Speaker 3No, it sucks. No, I don't. I, I, I it's hard, I like consistency, I like having a routine. It's tough. Yeah, yeah, yeah, huh, okay, you gotta do it. You gotta do it.
Speaker 1Uh, mr, uh, Dr Kane, would you like to sign us off Late Till next time. Bye, guys.
