Almost Brothers Podcast
Soy Sauce In His Veins
Ever had friends stage a “food intervention” with a straight face and a side of laughter? We kick off with a playful callout about Chinese takeout and land in a surprisingly honest look at cravings, comfort food, and the thin line between habit and burnout. What starts as soy-sauce jokes turns into a real audit of how often we repeat meals, why certain snacks feel non-negotiable, and how one bad night can make a favorite fast-food spot untouchable.
We get candid about gas station food as survival, the fruit snacks we swear by, and the mythical idea that pizza can be a three-times-a-day lifestyle. Along the way, we unpack food aversions—how a childhood peach juice overload or a disastrous White Castle run can rewire taste for years. The pizza debate takes center stage: rotating styles to dodge palate fatigue, whether cold slices are a delight or a deal-breaker, and a closing-time Little Caesars haul that turned into a week of budget-friendly meals and roommate diplomacy. It’s funny, a little chaotic, and more relatable than we expected.
By the end, we land on practical ways to keep joy in the foods we love without getting stuck in a loop. Build a rotation so favorites stay special. Change sauces, sides, or bases to refresh the same order. Respect no-go foods without guilt, and let time—and context—do the healing. If food is comfort, culture, and connection, then humor is the bridge that keeps the conversation open. Hit play, share your hot takes on cold pizza, and tell us: which restaurant or dish is on your forever list, and which one is off the table for good? If you enjoy the show, follow, share with a friend, and drop a review to help others find us.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is gonna be a bonus episode. We are gonna be having a moment with Tyler. This is your intervention.
SPEAKER_01:What? Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02:This is your intervention.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, shut up.
SPEAKER_02:Okay. Listen. Listen, okay. Listen to you. Your addiction Chinese food is a problem. We need to settle this right here, right now. This is a problem. Okay. You sit here and talk mess about me and Richard's spending habits. Good Lord. You've ate so much, so much Chinese food. You could you could fund the you could fund China. Goodness, man. You cut, you bleed soy sauce. This is a problem. I don't think so. How often do you eat Chinese food?
SPEAKER_01:At most. Once a week. At most or at least? At most. Because it's usually on Sundays.
SPEAKER_02:Is it every Sunday?
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_02:That's a lot better than I thought it would be.
SPEAKER_01:I would I would say every other Sunday to probably once every three Sundays. Because a lot of times we're going to our grandparents' house.
SPEAKER_02:Which is not bad. I guess if you if you look at what you eat during the week, I guess it's not terribly bad if you if it's that often. But I don't think I eat anything out that much.
SPEAKER_03:I eat a lot of gas station food.
SPEAKER_02:And we're talking about the way you just threw that in there, just like an innocent kid. I do like gas station food. That's more out of necessity than anything, though. I wasn't ready for that. I think I swallowed my ear. Earlobe. Oh, geez. Oh, what is something you eat like just constantly where you're like, I could never get tired of this? We know. We know.
SPEAKER_01:Um, fruit snacks.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01:Welches and Black Forest specifically.
SPEAKER_02:Did you like the fruit snacks with like stuff in the middle? Gushers. Like the like the little Yeah, kind of like Gushers.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah. Well uh Black Forest has one of those, like the juice-filled one. Oh man. Oh, it's so good.
SPEAKER_02:Have you ever had something you you love to eat, but you you did get burnt out on it? You ate it so much? And it's like, I don't really want that right now anymore.
SPEAKER_03:When I was a kid, I discovered my so I went to California to visit my aunt and uncle. This is a bit of a story. Stay with me. Okay. So I'm lost. Aunt and Uncle California. So they had a juicer. Well, my aunt started juicing peaches. So peach juice was fantastic until I drank so much of it that I got sick. Okay. And after that, I can't do peach juice.
SPEAKER_02:That's what happened to me. So I really love White Castle. And I got sick off of White Castle one. And I have I it's been five years, and I have not had it since.
SPEAKER_03:You have not, you are not missing anything. I love White Castle, man. It's disgusting.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, it's so good.
SPEAKER_03:It's not even a burger. It's like a slider. It's a it's not even that. It's it's not even meat. It's like meat byproduct. It's just gross. You're not even meat. No, I'm not. I don't know how to really say anything about that.
SPEAKER_01:So I'll give burnt out on things easily. Now, like, kind of what you're saying. Like, we went when we went to it was Alabama. We had Wendy's and I got sick from it. Yeah. I probably won't eat Wendy's again. It was the worst Wendy's ever. But terrible. But remember that Wendy's at Alabama. Oh, so bad.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, the the lady at the Oh, it was terrible. She was not happy. A horrible eye too. I'm too sure she's ate my food. She hated her life.
SPEAKER_01:Before you got sick. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Anyways. But no, I don't, I don't really get burnt out of it. I I will eat the same thing for months.
SPEAKER_03:I thought, I thought, I had a theory that I could eat pizza for every meal forever. Absolutely. I'd be fine with that. It's not true. I can get it, I can get tired of pizza. Yeah. I did it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm sure.
SPEAKER_01:I'm sure you know Clogged Artery is having a heart attack, or you're real tired of it. I didn't have a heart attack. I'm not saying I'm not I'm just saying I have to I have to change the road you're walking down.
SPEAKER_02:I have to change pizza places. So it's a little bit different. So I have to go, like, you know, you get burnt out on once like I kind of want to try some a different one. So I was in college.
SPEAKER_01:When I was in college, I went, there was one Friday, Saturday night, whichever. And I wanted, I was craving pizza, and it was probably like 45 minutes before um Little Caesars closed. And when I ordered a$5 hot ready pizza, the manager came up and was like, hey, uh, we got a bunch of extra pizzas and breadsticks left. Do you want to take them with you? So I pay for a pizza left with I want to say six or seven pizzas. Man, and like three or four things of breadsticks. That's a good night. Yes, please. The pizza lasted me like a whole week and a half. I'd say what I had roommates too.
SPEAKER_03:Little Caesars, I could eat that crazy bread instead of pizza. Oh, it's really good. That's what I like. Is amazing.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. I like pizza cold too.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:I don't mind the cold at all.
SPEAKER_01:I do. Yeah. Yeah. I do. It's for me, it's gotta be cheese pizza. Yeah. You don't like pizza. I wouldn't say I don't, I wouldn't say I don't like it, but it's like that's a preference for me.
SPEAKER_02:But Tyler, we're really worried about you, man.
SPEAKER_01:It's literally in my blood.
SPEAKER_02:We're really it's a good point. It's a good point. You go in to see fan, it's like a family reunion, huh?
SPEAKER_01:It'd be like you eating collagens. Yo, snap.
SPEAKER_03:I got nothing.
SPEAKER_02:Yo, that's messed up. I heard a tear first.
SPEAKER_00:Did you see the one I sent you? Oh my god. Well, you you see what the thing is. I read it on the internet. That the doll sword is a lot more dangerous than the show. That's so funny.
SPEAKER_03:Y'all are gonna get us kicked off of whatever platform we're on.
SPEAKER_02:He's Asian.
SPEAKER_03:And you're half black. That doesn't mean you can say whatever you want. That's a new year's resolution we need to talk about. Let's get our video going.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, I was like, let's calm down, let's not get crazy. Sounds like we can say what we want. Thank you.
