A teen curfew sounds like a simple safety policy until you ask the obvious question: who pays the price when the rule hits real life? We start with a story about minors being arrested for violating curfew and parents getting cited, then we dig into the messy line between public safety, parental responsibility, and personal liberties. We are not trying to turn it into a political shouting match. We are trying to figure out where the boundary should be and what happens when authorities can keep moving it.

From there, we connect the dots to the bigger pattern a lot of people feel right now: rules piling up faster than results. We talk COVID-era restrictions, the feeling of “temporary” becoming permanent, and the everyday frustrations of airport security that keeps asking for one more step. Then we bring it home to schools: cell phone bans, smartwatch rules, dress code crackdowns, and how hard it is to protect kids and stay connected as a parent when policies treat every situation like the same situation. Zeke jumps in with what it feels like on the student side, including unfair discipline and why group punishment can make classrooms worse.

Then we lighten things up without losing the theme. Zeke runs us through a Gen Z slang quiz that makes us question our age and our vocabulary. After that, we do a trailer watch party and react to the Mario movie, Spider-Man Brand New Day, and Dune, plus a bigger conversation about why theaters and big blockbuster movies feel like they are finally back. We wrap on Marvel’s next swing with Avengers Doomsday, the huge character roster, and what would actually feel “remarkable” again.

Cold Open And Host Banter

SPEAKER_06

I don't know if I want to let him do it. No, I don't know.

SPEAKER_08

I'm a very trustable person. Okay, go ahead. It's not even a word.

SPEAKER_06

I'll put it in the I don't think that's in the Webster dictionary. Like a crosstable? Trustable. All right, go ahead. Ooh, bars.

SPEAKER_08

What's up, whatso, whatso, whatsoever, whatsoever with the what's up on a cherry on a what's up? Welcome to the Almost Brothers podcast. Today is a nice day outside.

SPEAKER_05

The lead up to is a nice day. Like wait for it. Wait for the news. It's a good day.

SPEAKER_03

Amen. The amen. Amen. That is your boy. That is that's great. That's great. Thank you for that.

SPEAKER_08

Told you I'm a trustable person. I'm getting crustables in my mind with. And he's muted. He's muted.

SPEAKER_01

It's your first.

SPEAKER_03

That's not nice. It's not your first mute. So anyway. What's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, everybody. Welcome back to a brand no brand no brand new episode of the Almost Brothers podcast. As always, we got Richie Rich. We got Ta Ty. I don't yeah, same. And we got Zekster. What's up?

SPEAKER_03

Pretty good. Thanks.

SPEAKER_08

That's nice. It's very nice. It's nice like the weather.

Teen Curfews And Parental Rights

SPEAKER_03

Both of them are so awkward. Oh, on today's episode, we're gonna be talking about personal liberties. And again, we're not gonna get political here. We just want to talk a little bit about where that line is drawn on uh on kind of personal freedoms and also your liberty. So Tai Tai lead us off on the story that you heard, read, watched, whatever, however, you got it into your face.

SPEAKER_06

In my face. Okay. Well, saw a video on Facebook from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police. I believe that's who it was. And they're enforcing a curfew for minors on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays. I don't know when they start or how long it'll go. It may be indefinite. But that's what they've been doing. And the video showed, you know, cops driving around and their you know teens outside and they're like warning them like over their you know, whatever speaker, whatever they got in their cars, uh saying, you know, y'all need to get home or you're gonna be arrested. Um so and it said just one night they arrested 20-something minors, and then when the parents come to pick them up, they will be giving the parents citations for breaking this curfew for allowing their children to break this curfew.

SPEAKER_03

Man, we'd have been in some trouble now.

SPEAKER_06

We'd have been in some serious some sort of trouble. Well, I th I think and I I don't think the curfew is just because they just need another uh ordinance regulation for people to follow. I think there's probably a reason there might be, you know, a trending level of higher crime rate or something with teens, you know, in the evening on those days or something. So they're putting that in place. I don't know. I'm assuming it's not just out of nowhere.

SPEAKER_01

There's probably not just for fun.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I'm assuming there's a reason for it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, I guess that is that would be true. It's like because really at a certain time that it's not good to be out anyway. Like you're you're just gonna get in trouble. There's nothing good going on at that time. But but I mean it it it can it can get to the point to where it's literally they could just take and and who says they don't push it back to six.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

You know, so like where does the where does the line begin?

SPEAKER_01

You know, to where and I I don't know. I'm of two minds about it. I tell us two minds. Both of them. Oh. One, two. Uh what? One, two. One two. So the first one is as a parent, I don't I don't want my kids out after ten most of the time. But as a parent, if I know my kids out after ten and there's a reason, I don't think I should get a ticket for that.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Why why is that now the police department's responsibility to tell you as a parent when your kid should or should not be out?

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah, because I mean if I if I sent, you know, I don't know what the age range is, but if I sent my 16-year-old to the store after 10 for I don't know, ice cream or whatever, you know, it's that's the necessities. I have yeah, the the important stuff. I have I have made the decision to send my child into the world after 10 p.m. I don't think it's okay for her or him to be arrested at that point.

SPEAKER_06

Right. I think because I can agree with that. I think the whole issue is why there's a curfew and the I guess the time frame of when that curfew is going to be enforced. Because it you know, like I said, it could be you know, there's just been a higher crime rate or whatever it is maybe, and they say, hey, we're enforcing this curfew for the next month. Right. We're giving you the heads up just for this month, keep your children inside the homes after 10 p.m.

SPEAKER_01

But I don't think that they'll solve anything. I mean, if you're there to arrest them for curfew, you're there to arrest them for what they're doing wrong.

COVID Rules And Sliding Boundaries

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, and and and that also, like the the thing you're trying to solve is is probably kids out doing something they shouldn't supposed to they shouldn't be doing. Right. So what makes you think of putting another rule? They don't follow the rule that's already there. Right. So if you put another rule on top of that, what make now you're now you're getting kids in trouble that you just added this rule for, but the ones that are causing trouble are still gonna cause trouble. They don't care about the new rule because they didn't care about the original one. Yeah, right. It's like I oh and again, it I feel like COVID done a lot of this. COVID really pushed the bar onto what they could make you do as a free American. Yeah. You are not allowed to go to a funeral because of a sickness. Like we can make you not go, or we can fire you from a job, you know, which a lot of uh they're getting a lot of blowback with that now. But it's just it's pretty crazy to to watch happen. Especially you watch, you know, we were watching um a movie the other day, and just how how quick these this family got through the airport because it wasn't what it is now, where now like everything gets searched, you gotta, which now they stopped doing your shoes off, but at one point it was taking your shoes off. And I got to where they they wanted me to strip like strip down out of my hoodie, and I'm like, no, you're already putting me through a machine. I'm not taking my hoodie off, dude. Right. Like it's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

At what point and that's what I don't understand about these if they can't see you through a hoodie, what's the point of them at all? Right, right. Why am I?

SPEAKER_03

Why do I have to stand with my hands up in this machine and and do all this? It it I just don't, and it just seems like every year they things get pushed and pushed, and there's regulation after regulation after and new law and new law and new law. It's like at what point does it get to be too much?

Schools Policing Kids And Phones

SPEAKER_01

Well, and especially, you know, Tyler being a new parent, you'll you'll eventually start dealing with this stuff. But when you have or governments and and and organizations like schools and things that nature that that are now policing your own children, telling them what they are allowed to and not they got a new cell phone law or rule this year. Yeah, I hate that so much. If I need to get a hold of my child during the day, I can't at all because they're not allowed to even have them out.

SPEAKER_03

Well, Richard, you could call the school because you know how good they are at relaying messages when and where they need to go.

SPEAKER_06

Right, right. I'd agree, I agree with that to an extent, with uh in the extent being that issue right there. Right. I gotta get a hold of my kid. So do, you know, depending on how big the school is, but so do, you know, 200 other parents.

SPEAKER_03

Right, right. Well, and and we got to a point, this was a few years ago, where where Zeke fell on playing basketball at recess and busted his head open. And his teacher just very quickly just let us know, hey, Zeke fell, he hurt himself, he's bleeding, he went to the nurse, just wanted to let you know. She got in trouble.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I did hear about that.

SPEAKER_03

Because they told her it's the nurse's job to get a hold of that. Like, I want to know when my kid is hurt.

SPEAKER_01

Well, especially something like a head injury. That's right. You don't mess around with a head injury, that could that could turn bad very quickly.

SPEAKER_03

Well, and it and it got to the point which I think now they've relaxed a little bit on the because like I was gonna get Zeke a Apple Watch so that a few reasons, so that if his phone goes dead, he still has a way to contact us, or vice versa. And also I could track where they're at. So if him and Zay are together, I could track from his watch. Well, they they had a rule, you can't even have a smartwatch. Right. Right. Who are you to tell them that they can't have a personal item on their body? Well, it's like there's some schools that won't let you dye your hair a certain color. Oh, yeah. Who are you to tell these kids they can't do that?

SPEAKER_01

My daughter Silver, she had a horrible time because she loved to dye her hair. She dyed a different color every week. But she went to Hawcombe school and they they that was against their dress code because it was distracting a color?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, then stop painting walls and stop putting up posters. And I mean, come on.

SPEAKER_06

My senior year, I remember this because I and it was funny because I didn't take it serious at first until they're like, uh yeah. We it was my senior year. We had uh we did a like a senior water balloon fight like right before school. And I came to school and I had like a tank top, nothing like crazy, like didn't have like giant holes cut. Literally, like it was almost you could it was almost like a basketball jersey, yeah, in a sense. I came in, they're like, You you gotta go home and change. Why? Well, because you don't have sleeves.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you don't have that four inches of fabric going from your shoulder to your mid-bicep. Yeah. This is something speaking of that, this is something that drives me insane. Now we're okay for the basketball team that that represents our school, that plays at our school to wear cutoffs, to wear that's fine, but when you're in school, you can't have that. Right. We're fine with our volleyball team wearing four-inch shorts. Oh, dude. That's okay. But you can't do that, and and again, I get why, because if you just let it go crazy, it'll be chaos. Right. But you're sending very mixed messages here. You're saying it's okay for our cheerleaders to wear short skirts, right? But you could never have that in school. But but God forbid there's a small hole in your jeans.

SPEAKER_06

Right above your knee.

SPEAKER_01

Right. It's like none of this makes sense. Yeah, and have you tried to find jeans without holes in them lately? Right.

SPEAKER_06

We literally had teachers walking around the halls holding duct tape.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. It's just crazy, dude. I don't understand.

SPEAKER_06

I don't get it. And like you said, it's sending mixed uh messages, and one of the messages is saying that the things you're wearing, the the short uh shorts or the cutoff, whatever it is, is too revealing and it's going to be distracting other people, i.e., boys. Right. So you need to cover up, not the boys need to learn boys to stop being little perverts. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And then also they're you're a year away from going into college who could care less. Right. So now you're culture shocked because you're going from strict dress code into college where they're like, we don't care, wear pajamas if you want. And it's like it's such a huge jump. And it's like, wait, college is supposed to be the next level up, but they're less strict on hats in school, on stuff like that. And it's just very weird that, and it's like making a rule to make people follow it just for the sake of making the rule.

Discipline Problems And Consequences

SPEAKER_06

Well, um, it was I think it was a dude, Rockefeller or whatever, that created the school system, right? Or something like that. And I think it was a quote or something where he said the whole the purpose of the school system is to make workers, right? People that follow the rules. Yeah, right. Yeah. So it's like all I I mean, really, that's what the I don't you know, I'm sure private schools are different from each other, but the public school system is designed to make employees, essentially.

SPEAKER_03

Which we had it, it was a lot more strict when we were in school. But Zeke, what is some of the stuff? I know y'all deal with like the no cell phone, which again, we couldn't have cell phones either when they finally were more readily available. But what's something in y'all school? Like, we got to the point where we couldn't eat in class, you couldn't have crackers in class. So they've they've relaxed a little bit on some of that. But what's some of the stuff that y'all deal with in school nowadays that is just kind of these things that are like, why is this a rule?

SPEAKER_08

So for me, right.

SPEAKER_06

Well, he seems like he's locked up, he's ready to go.

SPEAKER_08

Like, I've had this in my mind.

SPEAKER_06

So like you've been holding it in.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, so some kids in my grade, right? Basically, most of my kids, they're hostile to each other for absolutely no reason. Yeah. And when when you actually like fight back, when they like, if they like push you or something, then you get in trouble for some reason. Yeah. And it's and the other person that already started it doesn't get in trouble. Yeah. So that's just one that I have no idea why.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

And um, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I know one I know one that always drove me crazy, and I think it still goes on now, is when the whole class gets in trouble because some kids want to act up.

SPEAKER_08

That's okay. My class, my class is miserable. Like, I don't like my class. I want to switch classes so bad. There's like one good kid in my class, and the others are just, yeah. And Miss Like my teacher, right? There'd be like three people talking, and she'd know those three people, but she would still get the entire class in trouble.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Just because those three people are acting up. Yeah. It drove me crazy. Drove me crazy. That's that's literally a training tactic in boot camp. Yeah. Everybody's got it. Well, and I it drives me crazy when like even coaching, when coaches do it. Like, oh, the whole team's running because the one guy couldn't get it right. And I get what they're doing. Like, we're a team, but also that's that's causing a few things. Now you're you're pointing the one kid out, and instead of him fixing what he's done, now everybody's got to do it. You're making the whole team mad at this one kid. You know, everybody's yelling at this kid now, so it's putting a bullseye on this kid. It's like, no, how about you work with that one? You know, and every now and then I get it like, hey, we're all in this together, we're all gonna run. But after a while, it's like if the kid keeps messing up, maybe make the kid do it.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Make that one kid deal with his own consequences.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because nowhere else in life is that if a if you're on a line at work and this one dude's bad, they're not firing the whole line. Right. They're gonna get rid of the one guy. So it nowhere else in life is that is that gonna be the case.

SPEAKER_01

And Jennifer, she has the exact opposite problem because she's a teacher at the school she's at. So we have one particular child that everybody knows is kind of our problem child. So his teacher will continually come and tell Jennifer, hey, Luke's doing this, hey, Luke's doing this. Hey, she's told her and told her and told her. But she doesn't. She just keeps coming and telling Jennifer.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, she came and told her the other day, she's like, Luke's got in this habit where he wants to play in the bathroom, play in the water. And now he's got another kid doing it, a new kid. So now he's teaching another kid. Oh man. So she told her, she's like, Look, I've told you a thousand times what to do. Yeah. She's like, I don't, I don't, I don't know what you expect from me. He there's a process to dealing with with kids. Go do what you're supposed to do.

SPEAKER_06

There's a reason why she's going to Jennifer, it's because so she doesn't have to deal with it. Right. That that's that's why.

SPEAKER_01

But she's still dealing with it all day long.

SPEAKER_06

That's that's why uh because when uh when we were when we were fostering Inman eventually he moved in with my dad and stepmom. You know, he went to Malden, where my stepmom teaches. When they found out, oh, you're fostering him now. Anytime he got in trouble, they'd go to her and she she would say the same thing. Treat him like any write him up.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Just real simple thing. Yeah. He got he got Blaze is his brother, you know. We so he for whatever reason got him on the ground and was hitting him in the bathroom. And then the teacher broke it up and Luke like pointed a fake gun at him, you know, like a like finger gun. So I was like, he's gonna get suspended for this, there's no doubt. So Jennifer's like, Well, I'll let you know, you know, if I need to come home with him or if you can come get him or whatever, we're gonna whatever we need to do. So I'm waiting and waiting and waiting, and she's like, Yeah, he didn't get anything. He got like not much, and it turns out that the teacher only wrote down like a small part of what he actually did wrong, yeah. So that he didn't get in as much trouble. And I'm like, You're all you're doing is making it okay for him to act like that.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. Nice, nice. It's you know, teachers that do things like that, and and even more so parents that try to uh cover up their kids' mistakes or or you know do things like that, eventually you're gonna be paying for the lawyer. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'll never forget the video I saw one time. It was a lady they were interviewing, and she was she was crying and stuff, and she's like I'm trying to remember exactly how she said it. She said, I can't believe they shot my baby when all he was doing was robbing their store.

SPEAKER_04

What? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dumb games get dumb consequences.

SPEAKER_08

Exactly. Exactly, right? Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, it's crazy. So it's, I mean, and it's a hard thing because there's no, I don't, there's no right answer because there has to be rules and regulations, but it's like, where does that because it seems like it just keeps getting moved further and further and further and further and further.

SPEAKER_06

But the crappy part about it is, you know, is like these no rules and regulations. Are they the right solution? Maybe, maybe not, but unfortunately there's a reason someone had to come up with it. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Well, somebody has to do something at some point.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, we can't just let problems be problems.

Zeke’s Slang Quiz Challenge

SPEAKER_06

And people are okay with being the reason why people have to create more rules and regulations. Yeah. That's that's that's where the problem is. People are okay with with causing problems.

SPEAKER_08

I got a question. Yeah. What's liberty mean?

SPEAKER_03

Liberty?

SPEAKER_08

Liberty, liberty, freedom.

unknown

Gosh damn.

SPEAKER_03

That is insurance. It's liberty mute. You have a mute button over there.

SPEAKER_08

Gecko Geico. Amen.

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Anyway.

SPEAKER_06

Speaking of consequences, speaking of say freedom of speech does not require a microphone. Oh, not even that, man.

SPEAKER_03

Hit the button. Speaking of Zeke, so I wanted to do, before we go into that, so what's up? I wanted to do a segment here where Zeke is gonna tell us some words. Oh no. Some slang words. I'm afraid because it might make me feel old. And we have to guess what they mean. All right. So I I have not any insight into this. I just told him this is what he's gonna be doing. So we're gonna.

SPEAKER_01

Are we taking turns? Or is okay?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and we'll just go around the room, so one at a time. So we'll start with Richard, go to Tyler, then to me.

SPEAKER_08

I wrote it on my phone, so I can't. Can I go get my phone real quick?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yes. Go ahead. Yeah. Yeah. He's gonna go grab his phone. I don't know where it's at.

SPEAKER_01

I love it when young people are prepared.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. So I was like, hey, I was like, come up with some cool like slang, and then we're gonna figure it out. And then for that's what's up, we're gonna, instead of saying what we've been watching, listening to, we're gonna look at a few movie trailers on stuff coming up and see what we may be excited about, what we're not excited about. So we're gonna take it out and and watch it live. And yes, all of them, and see see what we think. Yeah, I'm down. Yeah? Sound good? I like it. Yeah. Jamie's here. Right. Right.

SPEAKER_01

I'm getting the hard word now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

All right.

SPEAKER_01

All right, you ready? Get my phone now. Yeah. These things change weekly. It's so hard to keep track. It does.

SPEAKER_06

It really is, yeah. Apparently there was. Skibity isn't really a thing anymore.

SPEAKER_08

Heck no, bro. It's a dead open. I still don't know what it means. That's never that's never been a thing to like to me.

SPEAKER_03

Well, here, while you're doing that, I'll I'll do the cameras.

SPEAKER_08

Alright, y'all ready? So Richard first. Sure, why not? It's embarrassing first. First one. Motion. Motion?

SPEAKER_06

I guess it's got two meanings now.

SPEAKER_05

Uh movement.

SPEAKER_03

That's that's the and you gotta keep up with points. So Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Zero for riches. Okay. So do I ask the same like one to two?

SPEAKER_03

Um we should we should be able to guess. Okay, so if he gets it wrong, if one of us can guess it, we get the point. All right, I'll let you okay.

SPEAKER_06

You think you so okay, so motion. Motion. Can you use it in a sentence?

SPEAKER_01

No, I didn't get a sentence.

SPEAKER_06

You didn't ask. Bull Malarkey.

SPEAKER_01

This ain't a spelling bee. If you get a sentence, you get half a point.

SPEAKER_06

It could be okay. Motion. I feel like. Oh gosh. Motion.

SPEAKER_03

It's not like a spelling bee. Motion.

SPEAKER_08

M-O-M.

SPEAKER_06

M-O-T-L-N motion. I feel like it means something in the realm of this is so hard.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think you have a clue. You're just killing time.

SPEAKER_06

I I feel like it's in the realm of some kind of like you are you got some game or something like that.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. So do I ask now I ask you what that means.

SPEAKER_06

Is he wrong?

SPEAKER_08

Yes, yes, he is. He is gum.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Motion. Like if we just keep saying it, it'll change. What's the nation of origin? So I'm gonna say um motion is um being cool.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so second guess. Something to do with emotion. Um actually were we all wrong? Yes, y'all were. Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_08

So motion actually means getting money and like building success and everything.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, that's pretty good. Okay. All right, Richard. No, this one is Tyler's.

SPEAKER_01

Your generation's stupid. Hey, easy.

SPEAKER_08

Hey, it's not nice.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, now it's Tyler. He gets to lead it off. Yeah, I don't yeah, I want to guess that one.

SPEAKER_08

All right, Tyler. What? All right. Give me an easy one. I'll give you I'll give you a decently easy one. Stand on business.

SPEAKER_06

Uh uh that mean like you're like if you're serious about something like I'm like I'm standing on business, like this is this is my crap right now.

SPEAKER_01

Um Yes, yeah, yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I knew that one. That one was kind of easy, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How are you gonna give me motion that has nothing to do with nothing? I gave it to me.

SPEAKER_06

Because I asked for an easy one. Okay. I bought him crocs, so he's throwing me a bone.

SPEAKER_03

I guess, man, you ain't lying.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I got the assist.

SPEAKER_01

I must see if give your dad the hardest one you can find. This is mad. He wrote the gin zone.

SPEAKER_06

I'm sure he's heard these at some point.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Twelve. Oh gosh.

SPEAKER_06

Twelve disciples?

SPEAKER_08

Twelve. Oh, the twelve colony.

SPEAKER_03

No, wait, 13 colonies. Never mind, I'm wrong. Twelve. You do have to give that to me in a sentence. I mean, that's like it's not even a word. Yeah. Like zero context. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Um I mean, you could speculate. No, you couldn't.

SPEAKER_08

I'm not trying to see 12 pull around.

SPEAKER_03

Is that a cop? Is that the the popo? Yeah. Instead of yeah.

SPEAKER_06

It was 5-0, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_03

It well used to be. Yeah. Yeah. And then it was the ops. The ops.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, y'all want to go way back? The fuzz. The fuzz. There you go. Yeah, the fuzz.

SPEAKER_08

The fuggly huzz. Alright, what you got for Richards?

SPEAKER_03

All right.

SPEAKER_08

Huzz. Let's see this one. Yeah, I know this one.

SPEAKER_01

Huzz. Is that what's it? Is this a female of questionable reputation?

SPEAKER_08

No, not questionable reputation. It's close, though. Yeah, okay, so.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't want to say it a certain way, Zeke. I'd give him that point. Yeah, I give him that point.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that was to him in a sentence. Yeah, that was good. Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Huzz is like like a girl that looks good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So you were, yeah, you were close.

SPEAKER_01

For a certain reason.

SPEAKER_03

You're close. Well, huh? Huh?

SPEAKER_06

It almost sounds short for husband.

SPEAKER_03

All right, Ty Ty.

SPEAKER_08

My mom said, my mom thought I said something.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, something bad. Yeah. It's not bad. It's not the derogatory way that you think it is. It's not. It's just it's good-looking girls. That's what it is. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All right.

unknown

Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, that's one to one. Me and Ty. I got one too. Yeah. Oh, yeah, you got 12. I forgot. Sorry. Dang. Here's your point.

SPEAKER_03

Come on, now I get my point, man.

SPEAKER_01

All right.

SPEAKER_03

What are we going to do? First to first to two.

SPEAKER_01

First to three. First to eleven. Where's one to two?

SPEAKER_03

First one to one.

SPEAKER_08

Mud.

SPEAKER_06

Mud. Mud. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_08

Can I have a sentence? You in a sentence?

SPEAKER_01

Where do y'all come up with this crap?

SPEAKER_08

Let me think of a sentence that don't like give it away. Give it away, yeah. Give it away because I thought you were gonna be like, let me think of a sentence.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's hard to, it's hard to not give it away when you put it in a sentence.

SPEAKER_08

I have a sentence, but I feel like it's gonna give it away very easily.

SPEAKER_01

Kind of like 12.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that was uh yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Let me see.

SPEAKER_06

Um very vaguely. I don't even know if you can.

SPEAKER_01

Don't know what it means.

SPEAKER_08

My friend, my friend is in the mud right now.

SPEAKER_04

There we go. That didn't give it away. Yeah, that didn't give it away. That's pretty vague.

SPEAKER_06

Can you hear my mic? I can't. I just realized I just realized I wasn't in front of my mic. No, you're good. Yeah. Say it one more time.

SPEAKER_08

Your friend is my friend is in the mud right now.

SPEAKER_06

In the mud. Mud. So I want to say. Does that just mean he's like he's like in some kind of trouble? No. No. No. No. Give me a second. Mulligan. Mulligan.

SPEAKER_01

See, this is what happens when you don't have rules for young people. Someone make a rule.

SPEAKER_02

I'll make sure we're gonna do that. I'm the problem.

SPEAKER_03

Is it uh is it um like depressed? No. Richard.

unknown

Richard.

SPEAKER_03

Chance to take the lead at two points?

SPEAKER_08

He definitely ain't gonna get this. He's from the ice age. Oh jeez. Yeah, it's Sid. What? What? Sid.

SPEAKER_03

Sid. Sloth. Let's go. Time's a ticking. Time's a ticking.

SPEAKER_08

One a caca dye. Two a caca dye.

SPEAKER_01

It'd be a lot easier to think if the heckl and Jekyll over there wasn't talking. That's so much. One a caca dye. A two a caca dye. Yeah, I don't know. No? No, I don't know. I don't even have a.

SPEAKER_08

So mud means like HUD. What? So my friends in the HUD.

SPEAKER_04

So instead of the hood. Oh, the hood. I thought I said HUD.

SPEAKER_06

I was like, what is okay, what is HUD now?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay. Alright. I never would have got that.

SPEAKER_08

Let me see another one, another one. Okay, so what? That's a taboo.

SPEAKER_03

So if I get I win, if I get this one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you do, yeah. Let's go. I say around.

SPEAKER_03

Shut shit.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's okay when he talks and has a good old time when I'm making.

SPEAKER_03

I wasn't talking though.

SPEAKER_01

What's that got to do with anything? I'm just saying. You weren't stopping him from talking.

SPEAKER_08

Host. Do your job. All right. Who is it his turn? It's mine. Oh, your turn. All right. You might get this. You might get this. Because you're like, you grew up in the early 2000s.

SPEAKER_04

What's up?

SPEAKER_08

And you like you like you was around a bunch of girls.

SPEAKER_01

How many hints are you planning on giving Pops? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Just tell him the word.

SPEAKER_08

Hey. Calm down. Take a chill pill. All right. Anyways, all right, Shorty.

SPEAKER_01

Are you is coming back?

SPEAKER_03

That would be.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_03

My girlfriend, my number one squeeze, my lady, my boo thang. Let's go. That fraternization right there, or whatever the crap. Whatever. Or whatever the crap. I don't know what that is. Or uh let's go.

SPEAKER_01

But is that a that's an old one that's coming back? Is that really coming back?

SPEAKER_08

Y'all want one more?

SPEAKER_03

AKA Shoddy.

SPEAKER_08

Rat.

SPEAKER_03

That's somebody who snitches.

Trailer Watch Party Begins

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Shorty was in a what is it, a Nelly song? Itchy birthday?

SPEAKER_03

It was in No, that go Shoddy. That's uh 50 Cent.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It was in a song.

SPEAKER_06

But it was, yeah. Yeah, it was probably in hundreds of songs in the 2000s.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't listen to that crap music. Me neither.

SPEAKER_03

Most mostly. Mostly because he was he already had five kids by then.

SPEAKER_08

Why are we looking at the ceiling?

SPEAKER_01

Because your dad doesn't want to make eye contact right now.

SPEAKER_08

Ceiling looks mighty fine today. Ceiling, ceiling.

SPEAKER_03

Terrible. Okay, so now we're gonna go into That's What's Up. The segment. That's what's up.

Mario Hype And Easter Eggs

SPEAKER_01

He is just trying to take your job. He is.

SPEAKER_03

He's working on it, isn't he? He's working on it. Can you put a poll?

SPEAKER_06

Right, he's okay. So I'm gonna get this together. We're gonna watch the job of hosting Microseke.

SPEAKER_03

So we're gonna watch here live a couple trailers.

SPEAKER_01

Are they on the thing?

SPEAKER_03

No, no. So so if you're listening just voice only, you're not gonna be able to see this, but we're gonna explain, you know, as we go what is going on.

SPEAKER_06

So legally, can we do it?

SPEAKER_03

Uh yes. Yes. So you can you could put it up as long as you're commenting about it, it's it's fine. So I don't want to pay any royalties. We're gonna be watching, we're gonna be watching and responding to a couple of trailers, movie trailers, of movies that are coming out in the next few months. So we are starting with the new Mario Brothers movie.

SPEAKER_01

Is this a new trailer?

SPEAKER_03

Um this is a new trailer. This is the final trailer to a cacata. It was like I was already pumped.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Well they get a laser to cut stuff out. Hey, look, they're swimming, Mike.

SPEAKER_03

So, yeah. So I'll so already, which which once they started kind of releasing stuff on it, as soon as I seen Yoshi, which they they kind of hinted at the last movie, I was already super pumped. Right. That's what Jennifer said too. Yeah, so now as it's progressing from there, I'm really, really just I'm super excited to watch. Super dope.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, can I say something real quick? Yeah. And this isn't about the movie, but it's like somewhat, somewhat close. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Um so back to rules and regulations.

SPEAKER_08

So uh I told Tyler this already, but um, I saw this video, it's talking about um Inside Out 3. Yeah, and they're coming out with new emotions, and I saw it was like ADHD.

SPEAKER_06

This is not worth nothing.

SPEAKER_08

Just ADHD, depression, yeah, um, anxiety. Okay. Did that do they already have anxiety? Yeah, you don't have the last one. Um and like addiction, right?

SPEAKER_06

I should say something.

SPEAKER_08

I'm not sure. Yeah. And the last one was racism.

SPEAKER_03

Really? It's not an emotion. That is not an emotion. Exactly what I said. Oh my gosh. Okay, anyway.

SPEAKER_06

I regret not saying anything though.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's the uh the thing.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, and Bowser Jr. Almost said little Bowser.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, for my dead body.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Look at Yoshi's car.

SPEAKER_03

I know, that's right.

SPEAKER_08

Yoshi's carrying. Quite literally. Literally.

SPEAKER_03

And I know I can't, I I can't stand Jack Black, but he he is perfect for Bowser. Yeah. I really, really do like him.

SPEAKER_06

He's like a real life Bowser.

SPEAKER_03

Right. He did really good in the first one. And I I love these, especially for anybody who who like grew up playing Mario. Right. Like the little like Easter eggs that are in it. Oh, that's a yeah, oh yeah. It's it's just so cool. Yeah, I love it.

SPEAKER_01

The little thing he arrived on. Yeah, I remember that.

SPEAKER_03

I just love it, man.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no.

SPEAKER_00

Smack.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, but uh no. That's the dinosaur from uh.

SPEAKER_01

That's gonna be great.

Spider-Man Gets A Dark Reset

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, it it it looks fantastic.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

So they got the dinosaur from Mario Odyssey.

unknown

Hello, I guess.

SPEAKER_03

That thing from the first one was so funny.

SPEAKER_08

That thing's living its best life. Right.

SPEAKER_03

It was like gloom and doom. But yeah, that that is a that is a day one absolute watch as soon as it comes out. That's what that is. Yep. You know, it it man, it's gonna be a good one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and Jennifer might go watch that on our uh weekend, whatever.

SPEAKER_03

That's about that, yeah. That's that time, yeah. That's right that weekend, yeah. Um and I know, oh, what was the other one we were talking about?

SPEAKER_01

Um Spider Man.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Spiderman.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it looks it looks crazy also. That renewal of your mind scriptures, Romans. Romans 12, 2.

SPEAKER_03

Is it?

SPEAKER_06

You sure? Yep. It was uh it was one of his tabs.

SPEAKER_02

Come on, pretend like you're not the same.

SPEAKER_03

This is the Spider-Man brand new day.

SPEAKER_01

And I had completely forgotten that in the last movie they had to forget him, yeah, like his friends. Yep. Completely forgot about that. That was a cool shot.

SPEAKER_03

And I like how they're gonna. They're kind of going darker with it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You don't remember me, but we used to know each other. Something bad was gonna happen, and the only way to stop it was to make everyone forget about me.

SPEAKER_03

Still think to this day he is the greatest superhero on the on the planet.

SPEAKER_01

I think Tom Holland's the greatest Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_03

I do too. Yeah. Uh Punisher.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing, even if it breaks Peter Parker's heart.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's pretty rough.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What is happening?

SPEAKER_01

That's what it looked like when you were in uh junior high watching Jamie at the end.

SPEAKER_03

That's exactly right. Yeah, so that, okay. So, no spoilers, so if you haven't seen any of the other Spider-Mans leading up to this, you might want to mute it for a second. Yeah. Um so he doesn't organically make web. Right. So he has he has the things he has extract. That's the original kind of thing, isn't it? Kind of. Okay, so there is a comic series where it he goes through a a metamorphosis where he develops being able to do that. And that's what happens right there is something is happening to him, and you see he like checked and he's like, oh no, as he's falling, he didn't have his webs, right, uh, cartridges on, but he was still he was able, so he's developing that and being able to make that, you know. So it looks like, man, that that that's kind of where they're gonna go with it. Right. Um but yeah, I don't know why it started over.

SPEAKER_06

I saw the beginning of this where it's got that shot like inside his mask. I saw someone comment. I was like, yeah, I didn't know there's that much room inside his mask.

SPEAKER_03

He has a whole camera in there. That's funny.

SPEAKER_08

I need your help.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so everybody has forgotten who he is. And it and it makes sense with the name, like brand new day. Like it makes sense. Scorpion. Oh. I think that's the hand that he's facing against, so the Daredevil's probably gonna be in it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's gonna look so good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it looks when does it open up? Um, it comes. Did it say April? I think so. April is gonna be stacked with movies. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, okay, so what was it? I'm trying to think. Click on the more, I think it might say. Theaters had it, it was saying something about um look that up on your phone. See when when the new Spider-Man cut like the release date. Did I see a preview for a movie called Maul?

SPEAKER_01

Like Darth Maul?

SPEAKER_06

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

I don't really watch movies, but like Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I I know it's gonna be fantastic. I'm I'm worried it won't surpass my feeling, it probably won't, of when all three Spider-Man. Oh, that was the best. That my because I remember one of the one of the first movies I remember going to see in theaters was um I can't remember if it was the first Spider-Man or Spider-Man 2. Yeah. Uh so I and Spider-Man was my favorite superhero growing up, and it's like it was kind of like my adult self is screaming as well as my you know 10-year-old self is also screaming in that moment. And you know, I I like Andrew Garfield too as uh as Spider-Man too. Yeah, I think I think it's funny how you know the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, it's just Spider-Man. Um Tom Hall and Spider-Man is just Spider-Man, both Andrew Garfield, it's the amazing Spider-Man. Yeah, and they're in that scene, he's like, Oh man, I'm lame. And and the and the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man's like, can we can we pause right there? You're not you're amazing. Yeah, yeah. Like, stop talking like that about your scene came across uh my uh Facebook feed today.

Dune And Theater Movies Return

SPEAKER_03

And so because he yeah, he's like, What y'all get to fight aliens? I just I just fought like a like a normal guy, like a rhino. Yeah, it's just so funny.

SPEAKER_06

It was like the the electro guy's like, oh, he was such a sweet guy before he fell into a tub full of electric eels.

SPEAKER_03

Tony where I was like, that'll do it. So and then like he stretched it, he's like, Yeah, I just got this back thing, you know. It's so funny. Yeah, and then here's the other one, which I I'm I'm trying to kind of watch. I want to make sure that no like no cuss words come across or anything like that, but I don't think they do, so I just want to make sure I don't remember if they do in trailers.

SPEAKER_01

I don't remember the any cuss words being in the first two movies.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, not not many, yeah. This so this is the new Dune. So if y'all haven't seen this, it'd be the third Dune, and it it is just a great series. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Look at that. Zands and everything. Two different previews, yeah. She's busy. Yeah. She's a really good actress.

SPEAKER_03

Which Tyler, have you seen these? Oh, dude, they're fantastic.

SPEAKER_01

They are awesome movies.

SPEAKER_03

Which I don't know if this is gonna be it or if they're making more after this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how many books there are.

SPEAKER_03

And I can't remember. I like the idea of more space stuff going on.

SPEAKER_01

So you can feel like you're watching Star Wars.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, come on. This movie's got a bunch of big actors in it, too. Yeah, my family.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_06

We got some samurais in there? Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of fighting scenes. We got sand people, we got aliens, and we got the Japanese. Exactly. Exactly. December.

SPEAKER_08

Dang.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Well, that's what's crazy, is they're all this year. All those movies are this year. You see who that was?

SPEAKER_07

Just in the must not die. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Dude, I cannot wa that if it wasn't for Spider-Man, that would probably be the one I'm most excited for.

SPEAKER_06

Right. I feel like Zende is one of those actresses that are she's getting her start in some real big films and is just going to she's just gonna explode in like being one of the top A-list actresses out there.

SPEAKER_03

And I don't, I I was gonna say, I I don't think she is a good actress.

SPEAKER_01

I disagree.

Marvel’s Comeback With Doomsday

SPEAKER_03

I think she does what she needs to do, but I just don't, she's the same in every single movie. You're the same in every movie, and and that's not a bad thing. There's a lot of there's a lot of actors that I like their movies that are the same in everything. Adam Sandler, for the most part, is the same in everything. That's true, but it's fantastic. But I yeah, it's just I I still like it, so it doesn't take away from anything. I just I just think she's exactly the same in in kind of every movie she's in.

SPEAKER_01

Whatever. I'm calling her and telling her. Dang. Speed dial. Mrs. Holland.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they got married.

SPEAKER_01

Her and Tom Holland. I did not know that. That's crazy. I didn't even know they were a thing.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah, they didn't take it. It's probably been almost a year. Wow. Since they got married. Yeah, because they got married sometime, I think, right after the uh was it No Way Home? I think so, yeah. Yeah. The last one.

SPEAKER_01

So I think it is safe to say this year movies are back.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I I would have to agree. Because there was something else I I watched or wanted to watch that was also like a big movie and it did really good, but I can't remember what it was. But yeah, yeah, like big blockbuster movies that are just I have to see this in theater. Yes, because I can't tell you how many movies I'm like, man, that looks good, but I'll wait for it to come out you know at home and watch. And and there's not a lot that I'm like, I know I have to watch that in theaters. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it for a long time, I guess, because of COVID, they did a lot of releasing straight to streaming. Yeah, yeah. You know, Adam Sandler, we've talked about him, most of his movies are Netflix movies because he has an exclusive contract with them now. So to see stuff hit in theaters again, it's gonna be huge.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. And yeah, I think like you said, it's COVID. So COVID hit, and then right after that, the the writer strike hit. Right, right. So I mean, movies took a big, big dip. And and these may just be these big blockbusters, dumb action movies that really don't have a lot of story, but sometimes that's all you want out of a movie. It's like I I just want a good movie to enjoy, to go, oh, ah, wow, big and explosions and not a lot of story. That's fine, which Dune is full of story, but like that's what we go. We go to be entertained. Right. Like it doesn't have to have these messages in it, it doesn't have to be this big thing of like we need to make sure that we get this point across on this certain thing. It's like, no, I just kind of want to go and turn my brain off and eat some popcorn, watch a movie.

SPEAKER_01

I'm trying to escape the news.

SPEAKER_03

Right, right, exactly.

SPEAKER_08

More to combat, more to combat. Oh, that is another one.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, that's one, yeah, that's a that's a day one. Street Fighter coming out. Street Fighter's coming out. Yeah, I forgot about that too.

SPEAKER_08

Avengers doomsday.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that that'll be, I think, 20 December this year. Is it December this year? Yeah. Okay, yes, it is. Yeah, okay. That's what I was thinking.

SPEAKER_06

Because I just watched uh two of the trailers. Um there uh I don't even know if you like ex actually consider it a trailer, but it was like it's it was Captain Rogers. Yeah, it just a little clip and said Captain Rogers will return for Avengers Doomsday. And there was a I can't remember who the second person was. Did you see the trailer with him in it? Like with Captain, yeah, yeah, he's yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He's in it, in it. Where like he picks the baby up. Yeah. Um so IMAX, they just had a big battle. Um, Dune and um and Avengers, and Dune won out, so they exclusively had the IMAX rights for like the first two months or something like that. So IMAX can only show that over. I mean, that's a pretty big deal. That shows you kind of how far, you know, um Marvel, Marvel has fallen from where they were at, is that that Dune won over that that fight.

SPEAKER_06

And I hope I hope they do redeem themselves. It doesn't have to be the spectacular thing that Endgame was, but it needs to be something remarkable. Yeah. Well, it's it they because it's not going to be another Dune.

SPEAKER_01

They kind of shot themselves in the foot because Infinity War and Endgame, I mean, it was that's just about as as fantastic as it gets where it comes to superhero movies. I mean, it would it had everybody.

SPEAKER_03

And they do I and I and I think I think they really do have a chance to capture that again with the lineup that they have for this movie going forward. I mean, they're bringing which of course, this is kind of them backpedaling and going, uh-oh, we messed up. Right, right. So we're gonna bring these guys back. We're gonna bring back. Yeah. But the lineup in this in Doomsday is double the lineup of what we've had in in Infinity War and and Endgame. So you're talking the X-Men, Fantastic Four, the Punisher, you know, all of these huge, huge, because now they they've scooped up uh 20th Century Fox. Right. And so now they've scooped up all these. So I think they're gonna be rebooting X-Men during this. There's gonna be a whole new cast on all these these X-Men characters, Fantastic Four, they're gonna be brought in.

SPEAKER_01

So are they going to be introducing new, new, not new characters, but new versions of these characters?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and I think it's gonna be both. I think they're because because like Patrick Stewart's in it. Oh, yeah. So I think they're gonna be doing both. Okay, pulling them from different timelines and kind of pulling them all in. So I think they're gonna introduce a young, like, hey, here's our here's our X-Men going forward. Right.

SPEAKER_01

You know, our new young did they ever finalize the Gambit movie?

SPEAKER_03

Is that is that still I think it's still up in the air. I know, I know um what's his name? It's still tied to it. Um, Channing Tatum's still tied to it. Your favorite actor. And he really does look good as Gambit. Yeah. Like when when I don't want to say because you haven't seen the movie yet, but he makes a special Oh my gosh, here he is. But and he really does look good, look good as it. He really does. Um, so I've got a little bit of excitement, like, okay, maybe he does good.

Comics Childhood And Pokemon Dreams

SPEAKER_06

Right, you know, in this, but um That's already talking about in the interview about playing Gavin. He's like, yeah, that's like my favorite super. That's the that's the role he absolutely won. I thought I thought that was really cool that he got that opportunity to do that.

SPEAKER_03

And that won me over a little bit too. I I love when when they're fans of what they're yeah, yeah, and not like afterwards, like, oh yeah, I went back and read some comics afterwards. Like, no, I'm a huge fan of this, I want to do it. You know, that I I loved Henry Cav. I'm not a big Superman fan, not a huge Superman fan, but Henry Cavill is a geek at heart. Yeah, he really is. He's a huge geek and nerd, and he loved the lore and he loved all the stuff before he even put it on and did the part, you know. So I love that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Our entire upstairs is just covered with comics.

SPEAKER_03

It is. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

You're welcome.

SPEAKER_08

And you had to make it a pretty good childhood. You had to make me um hold some stuff.

SPEAKER_03

It you know, the Bible says raise your children in the way they should go.

SPEAKER_08

I'm not reading no comics. I'm not reading. It's so good, man. I'm sorry to say I'm not collecting.

SPEAKER_03

Some of the best storytelling. Sissy looked at me the other day and said, Daddy, oh yeah. I think I want to start collecting stuff like you. She won't be collecting cowgirl boots. Did you?

SPEAKER_08

No, she's collecting you cried. She's collecting um Pokemon cards.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. She's starting that.

SPEAKER_08

And I'm gonna be an NBA player.

SPEAKER_06

So it looks like both your children are going to be able to pay for your retirement or whatever. Pay for you to not work anymore.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, hope so.

SPEAKER_06

Because she's gonna she uh Sale's gonna get that first edition Charizard from Logan Paul or whatever.

SPEAKER_08

Like ten thousand.

SPEAKER_06

Ten thousand, dude. That thing's worth millions.

SPEAKER_03

I am all for that.

SPEAKER_08

Something about that.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.
