We all joke around, but insecurities are real, and they show up in places you do not expect. Sometimes it is a fitting room that reminds you your body has changed. Sometimes it is a quiet fear that your friends do not actually want you around. Sometimes it is social anxiety that makes a simple conversation feel like a test you can fail.
We go around the table and say the uncomfortable parts out loud: weight and body image, feeling loved, struggling to talk to people, comparing yourself to what you used to look like, and the pressure of being watched on the court or in a leadership role. We also dig into the loop that keeps people stuck, knowing what to do but feeling too tired, hurt, or overwhelmed to do it, and why “functional fitness” and small habits can matter more than chasing an old version of yourself.
Along the way we break the tension with our new 60-second segment idea and some truly ridiculous jokes, because laughter is sometimes how you catch your breath before you keep going. If you care about self-esteem, mental health, social anxiety, body image, and practical ways to overcome insecurities, you will feel seen here. Listen, share it with a friend who needs it, and leave a review telling us what insecurity you are working on right now.

Cold Open Banter And Shenanigans
SPEAKER_07Like your surprise shenanigans. Shenanigans? It's a good word. I mean, so was the shenanigans. It's been a minute since I shenanigan. I need to shenan again.
SPEAKER_08That was pretty good. I ain't gonna lie.
SPEAKER_07You know, I do the tomfoolery and the ne'er dwelling, but shenanigans no. Just roll it.
SPEAKER_05Just roll it. Roll that beautiful bean footage. What's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, everybody. Welcome back to a brand new episode of the Almost Brothers Podcast. As always, we got Zeke.
SPEAKER_04What's up?
SPEAKER_05How's it going, buddy? We got Ta Ta.
SPEAKER_07The Fitness Grand Pacer Test. What? What? The fitness grand pacer test. You ever heard of that? No. No. Dude, it's like it's such a meme now.
SPEAKER_04No, it was it was a meme like a couple years ago.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. That's yeah. It was. Yeah. I used to I used I'm such a meme now.
SPEAKER_08Well, yeah, a couple years ago.
SPEAKER_07Well, yeah. Things things start to blur when you get older.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I know. Oh, how I have to do that.
SPEAKER_07That's why y'all wear glasses.
SPEAKER_05Museum, Mike. Richie Right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Man, shots have been fired already.
SPEAKER_08I was in, I was in the blasting. Speaking of glasses, I was I was in service, and I guess I was bored with our pastor today. Jeez. Okay. Well, it's been fun. Uh let's get out of here. I was like checking my bifocals because I was like, man, it's really cool. Because when I look at my notes, see through my bifocals, and I look at the words at this I hate y'all.
SPEAKER_05So much. Hate is a strong word, but I really, really, really don't like you.
SPEAKER_07Man, my goodness gracious.
SPEAKER_08That legit happened today.
SPEAKER_07That's a whole nother that's one thing like, oh, I got distracted on my phone because it rang, but your glasses. Yeah. The things I used to read, the slides that you are preaching on.
SPEAKER_08I just got to thinking that it was that was it. It was really cool technology that bifocals are.
SPEAKER_05As soon as he starts to thinking, it's a problem. It is a problem. Thank you, boo.
SPEAKER_02She's talking about all that on so much.
SPEAKER_05You're awesome. That's why I'm not a waitress. Thank you so much. You are the best. So before we get started, I had I had an idea. I had an epiphany. And here is what we're going to do. So every month, once a month, all four of us are going to have a segment to where you will have 60 seconds uninterrupted. People refute what you're saying. If you just have a rant you want to do, okay, you'll be able to do it, no problem. Ain't got to worry about it. And unless the person uses their once a month, you've got 60 seconds. Say
The 60-Second Rant Button Idea
SPEAKER_05whatever you want to say, and then we get to move on.
SPEAKER_08So I can talk about flat earth.
SPEAKER_05So if you want. If you want. So you get to use it once a month. Gotcha. Starting, starting. I mean, you could start this episode if you want, but starting next episode, I'm going to have a button for each of us, which Zeke, me and yours is going to be the same because we have the same last name. Okay? So here is the name of your segment, and you get to say, hey, I'm using my using my segment.
SPEAKER_07I'm cashing in.
SPEAKER_05Yep. I'm cashing in. And we get muted. So the uh us three get muted. You have 60 seconds. You can say whatever you need to say and go from there. Okay. So, Tyler, if it is you, your segment will be called Tyler Talk.
SPEAKER_07Not a TED Talk. Not a TED Talk. Tyler Talk. That's me. Okay? It is you. If for Richard. A Richie Rant.
SPEAKER_05Close. Oh. Close. Randall Ramble.
SPEAKER_07Ah, that's good.
SPEAKER_05Randall Ramble.
SPEAKER_08That implies that everything I say is just Ramble.
SPEAKER_05It means nothing.
SPEAKER_08It's just a bunch of sound grip. Noise pollution.
SPEAKER_05Right. So Vic for me and you, which you'll have your own, I'll have my own. But ours will be semi-seconds.
SPEAKER_08Which is exactly how long we give a crap about what y'all think. Semi. I'll use it right now.
SPEAKER_05You better mute, mute, mute. 60 seconds about you.
SPEAKER_08Talk about glasses.
SPEAKER_05So you get once a month and then they reset, they reset the next month. All right, cool. So we're still in August. What do y'all think? Pretty good? Yep. Pretty cool. So if they're, I mean, it may be, and it doesn't have to be on subject. It could be something. Hey, I got six seconds. I'm gonna talk about this donut I ate the other day. We know we know which of us four that segment is gonna be.
SPEAKER_07Oh, be right in the middle of like a really like in-depth conversation. Casting. So listen. Exactly. Exactly.
SPEAKER_08Tell you about this buffet I checked out.
SPEAKER_07Exactly.
SPEAKER_04That's what it's for. I'm gonna use it just so I can't hear y'all's voice. Just to do something like that. Just six seconds of silence.
SPEAKER_05That's messed up, man. Our listeners would love that. Right.
SPEAKER_07Play the recorder.
SPEAKER_05It's like we just have some uh what's his name that plays the saxophone?
SPEAKER_08The king of the late nut seed in sales. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_05Uh but on today's episode, we are gonna be talking about insecurities. Oh Lord. Yeah. This is gonna be a very interesting one. So I was I was just laying in bed and had I struck a thought. Oh Lord. You catch charge. I did, yeah. I did just have the the thought of this of just one, I don't think we share our insecurities too much, but also how how to get over those things, how to, how to to acknowledge it, but get past it, you know, because I think everybody's got their own kind of things that they struggle with and they deal with. Um so we'll just I mean, just straight shot go around the table. What's up, what's some
Why Insecurities Stay Quiet
SPEAKER_05of y'all's insecurities? It may be it may be something that people don't know, or it may be something that you kind of keep to yourself. I mean, whichever. So we'll start, we'll start with uh tie tie.
SPEAKER_08No, no, yes, let's start with tie tie. Let's start with the guy that's so in touch with his feelings. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, let's do that. Are you insecure about your feelings, Tom?
SPEAKER_07I don't have feelings. I'm a robot. Let's talk about it.
SPEAKER_05Kenny, come on in. Or anybody that's got that's that's got something.
SPEAKER_07I need to think about it.
SPEAKER_05I know I know one of mine that I've struggled with since I was a kid is my weight. That's always been something that that no matter what, I I don't feel comfortable at certain sizes. I don't care what uh you know everybody, oh no, you look great. I awesome, thank you, but I don't feel comfortable. You know, so I I I get really really uncomfortable in my own skin sometimes with with with with that. That's something that I deal with strong.
SPEAKER_08I'm debating on whether I want to share this story or not. Uh-oh. This is gonna go one of two ways. This is either gonna be people are gonna be making fun of me or people
Weight And Body Image Pain
SPEAKER_08are gonna be like, uh. So uh oh.
SPEAKER_05This is gonna be.
SPEAKER_08So I see how this is gonna go. We've already picked the way. So uh so a few years ago we were it was like the first Branson trip we took. And you know, I've struggled with my weight for years. And you said, hey, we should check out this HM store. Yeah, it's one of your favorite stores, yada yada yada. But you failed to tell me HM is not for folks my size.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_08So I'm in HM.
SPEAKER_05And and truth be told, I I didn't know your size. You know, I don't I don't I don't know. A lot of X's in there. Right. Well, no, not even that. It's just I just had no idea.
SPEAKER_08Uh anyway, so I'm in there and and kind of looking around and and this has happened to me a few times. And a few not just this store, but just this, I remember this time specifically, but like almost tearing up. Yeah. Because I can't buy the the clothes that I want to buy. I can't I can't just get whatever I want. Yeah. Because and I can't go to whatever store I want because I have to go where I can get my size. Right. And it's it's you know, we joke about my weight all the time and and it's it's fine. It's it's not like I'm crying at night to go to sleep or nothing. But yeah, but it does, it hurts. You know, it it's it's something that I I know is a problem. I don't need people reminding me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_08But but yeah, that's an insecurity of mine as well.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. And it's tough because uh again, as someone that that loves you, there is a difference between knowing and doing something about it.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_05You know, so that's where I get. I I usually bring it up and e even in a joking manner, I try to bring it up to try to push you towards it without pushing you too hard. Yeah, yeah. You know, because again, it's it it's more than just it's a lot more, it has nothing to do with how you look and and how we we want you around. Right, you know, and it's just it it it really is just so an an unhealthy thing that that worries me. It really does, you know.
SPEAKER_08It worries me too.
SPEAKER_05I mean, because again, a a drug addict knows they're a drug addict, right? But it's moving past that knowing and doing something about it, right?
SPEAKER_08You know, so well, and another insecurity of mine, since you opened this panel box of nonsense. Oh, and I'll come out. Oh, I've got them.
SPEAKER_05We just gonna we Tyler's thinking me. Yeah, we just opened it up.
SPEAKER_08Tyler and Zeke don't care. Zeke's too young. Look at that, right? Zeke's too young to have insecurities. What's up, y'all? Yeah. So another uh just like feeling loved.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_08You know, feeling wanted, um, physically and emotionally, is a is an insecurity of mine, and it it's it's an insecurity for a reason. It's been it's been pushed on me that way. Yeah. So just just even with our friend group, you know, I know that you all love me. I know that. But there are times it's like but do they?
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_08You know, and it's that that that inkling of am I good enough to have friends? Because this is the first time in my life I've had a friend group. Right.
Feeling Loved And Good Enough
SPEAKER_08You know what I mean? Like it's it's it's new to me.
SPEAKER_05So you think that comes from childhood? Oh yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Yeah. I had a terrible childhood, but that's a whole nother thing. But yeah, it's it's it's just something that I struggle with that I I have to constantly remind myself that that people do love me. And you know, I'm wanted.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's good. Zeke, what's something that that maybe you're insecure about? I and if you if you can't think of one or or you know, if if you don't bring it up, I've got one that I think I've watched you struggle with, but also start to to come out of. But but what's something that you think that maybe you're you're insecure about? Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I guess we're gonna give him that.
SPEAKER_05Give it to him, throw him that softball. So I so I know that I and I know this is this has been an insecurity of yours because you've told me is you talking to people. Yeah. I know you're very insecure about being able to have a conversation with someone,
Social Awkwardness And Learning To Talk
SPEAKER_05but I've also watched you leaps and bounds come a long way in that, looking people in the eye and and talking to them and doing such a good job of responding. That it really is a lost form in of communication in 2026 for young people. Oh, yeah. Just looking people in the eye and talking to them. So I've watched you grow a lot in that uh over the past couple years and being able to to communicate with people, you know, look them in the eye, shake their hand, yes, sir, no, sir, or even just have a conversation. It's been it's been awesome to watch. Is that something that you feel you've you've struggled with and kind of overcame a little bit?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05What do you what is it about? Is it just feeling awkward or um yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And now he's on a podcast, folks. I'm an overcomer.
SPEAKER_05And now you're on a podcast. So well, and that's what that's what really gets you, gets me about insecurities in people because sometimes you just don't understand it. Right. It's like because he'll be talking to me and he's funny and articulate and and he's he's got a he's really witty, but then he would witty, like quick on your feet. That's not in my vocabulary things to say. Off the cuff. Off the cuff. Um, but then he'd get around people, and then I mean, you you even said it. You knew you knew him for years before he said a whole sentence to you.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you would talk directly to him and he'd walk by you. Right. I just thought he was a brat.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's like, and it's like, man, what's what's going on? He's just he's just in those TikToks where people kind of like reenact that like when you're socially awkward and someone says, Hey, while you're walking by, hey, how you doing? And then you just you're beating yourself up the whole way.
SPEAKER_05You're like, what did I just say?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I saw the I saw those like all the time.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and then you hear him kind of in the background, yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's like, hey, what you hicha's name. I mean, um, and you just walk away, like, what did I just say? What in the world's going on?
SPEAKER_08That's like the Just Friends movie where he's in the car. He's like, the Deep Stow.
SPEAKER_05There's not one, but if there was, I bet it'd be in the North Pole. It's a deep north pole. And she's like sitting there the whole time. Um, I forgot my gloves. Like, ooh, it's cold. Yeah, it's cold. It's like the North Pole. If there was one. There isn't, though. I think it's another. Oh, but yeah, it's it's that that's something that I've watched you kind of kind of overcome, and and you're on the other side of it, you know. Still some work to do. Because again, you get a job, you get, you have to know how to talk to people. I mean, that's just part of life. It it's tough, it's hard, but you know.
SPEAKER_08Well, Emma struggles with the same thing, you know, and she she randomly hollered out before we came in here, I want to be on the podcast. Like, oh, you dumbass. I was like, what? What are you gonna say? Right.
SPEAKER_05So I know that's something. Ty, what do you got? You've been sitting here. You insecure about opening up about your insecurity because feeling a type of way.
SPEAKER_07Um, one of mine is actually similar similar to Richard's. Yeah. Um because I am I've been getting more insecure about my physical appearance. Yeah. Uh because of where I was, because I I'll I'll look back at my Snapchat memories from like five, six, seven years ago. Yeah. And I'm like, I will literally be like, wow, I took my physical appearance for granted. Right.
Aging, Fitness Burnout, Functional Goals
SPEAKER_07Like, I don't want to be like too graphic or anything, but I I looked good.
SPEAKER_08Right. You were a whole bodybuilder, so yeah. And that helps. Yeah. That helps.
SPEAKER_07And then now not that I I don't take care of myself, but I got burnt down from the gym. Yeah. Um and I just it it is kind of just a past life in a sense that you know that's I'm not really into that stuff anymore. Especially now with you know, my career and and having kids. Uh I don't necessarily have the time, the energy, or or the um or even the want to. Yes. Yeah. The the the will to do it. I don't really have that. Um but I've been been trying to do better. Really trying to um fix my mind to where I'm focusing more on just having uh more of an emphasis on like functional fitness. Yeah. Uh 'cause my my biggest thing is you know, in ten years I still want to be able to go outside and play with the kids. Yeah. And I want to I want to be able when they're old enough and they have their kids, I want to be able to go out and play with my grandkids. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And that's and that's where I'm at right now, dude, is I work and by the time I get home I hurt so bad that I hurt so bad that even doing anything is just like I can't even fathom. Like it's just like I just want to lay on this recliner and watch TV. That's all I want to do. And then it's a vicious cycle because that's all I do. So I just keep getting bigger and it's it's it's frustrating. Yeah. Like you said, it's knowing it and doing something about it is two different things.
SPEAKER_05And that that's how I'm with my back being hurt. I know if if I exercise, eventually I will feel better, right? But I feel bad, so I don't want to exercise. So then I don't, and I feel worse, so I definitely don't want to exercise, and it just keeps going.
SPEAKER_07It's an ugly cycle.
SPEAKER_05But uh another one for me, because a lot of people don't know me outside of preaching, teaching, podcast.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_05But I am I am very, very insecure about eyeballs on me. I I'm I'm so scared to let people down.
SPEAKER_02It's just piercing in my soul right now.
SPEAKER_05Uh I I'm I'm I'm very insecure that I I I never want to be the reason someone stopped doing this or stopped following Jesus or stopped doing this, or you know, I don't want to be the reason
Public Pressure, Parenting, And Judgment Fears
SPEAKER_05why they gave up. So I'm so scared to let people down.
SPEAKER_08You hate to be the one that somebody's telling a church hurt story about.
SPEAKER_05Right, right. It it that that scares me to death. It really does. So just the I'm very insecure about the magnifying glass that is on you when you are a public in a public position. It it scares me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Because I I I just want to do a good job while also I want to make people happy knowing that where I'm at I can't always make people happy. And it's a tough, yeah, it's a tough struggle with both of those things. So I get very insecure about that. If if one, if I'm doing the right thing, but also are people happy. And it's a constant fight with each other.
SPEAKER_08And it's it's I mean, it's an impossible task. I mean, you can't please everybody as a is a saying for a reason. You know, there's there's there's gonna be people that are unhappy with you just because you're there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And it's just the same with the kids. I'm scared. I'm scared I will make this person happy, but I'm hurting my kids in the process.
SPEAKER_08Oh, that's that's and that's that's where I get with like if I spend time with this kid, I'm not spending time with this kid. Right. You know, it's it's and it's such a hard time because I've got so many kids. Yeah. And then we add fostering and we add animals and we had church and work, and that's just it's it's too much. Yeah. It's really too much.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_08I'm tired. I'm tired by the body.
SPEAKER_05Do you think of one? What? What do you got? Do you think of one?
SPEAKER_04Why are you rushing me?
SPEAKER_05I'm not rushing you. Now you're yelling at me. I'm not yelling at you. This is patient.
SPEAKER_04This is depressing.
SPEAKER_05Do you do you ever get so I'll just ask because it's like prying a nail out of the wall. Do you ever get insecure? You you talk about basketball all the time. You ever get insecure on the court thinking that I'm looking at you and and you trying to live up and compare?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, cause like anytime, like I'd miss like say a free throw, right? I'm scared coaches cut either coach or you is gonna like put me out for missing like a literal free throw. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Tristan dealt with that too. He constantly worried about being taken out. Yeah. He wanted to play the whole game. But and he knew when it when it was gonna happen. He knew, you know, if he if he messed up, he knew it was coming.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_08He hated that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah, that was I I never really had someone that was watching me like that that knew how to do what I'm supposed to be doing, but I can I could see that. And I think your kids are gonna get the same, you know, if they're into music, they're gonna have that insecurity of mommy and daddy know how to do this, I better be doing a good job at it because they're watching me.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_05You know, so that that's definitely something. And they're right. Yeah, right. I think that's they better know they better, they better get it together, boy. Yeah. But it also helps to have that parent that knows what they're talking about. That all uh you know, is isn't just going, Hey, you should have done this, you should have done that. And it's like, well, that's easy for you to say you know how to do it but having that but it's also it comes with its own with its own things so yeah for sure I had a I had a stepdad for 17 years and he was what they call a shade tree mechanic.
SPEAKER_08Yeah you know he he could fix a lot of stuff but he wasn't a professional mechanic by any means but growing up I always wanted him to take an interest in me and teach me these things and he never did because he was an alcoholic and didn't care if we were there or not. So it just never but it was always a want for him to to reach out and say hey let me teach you how to whatever you ever with static goes for y'all too obviously you ever get insecure about being a parent?
SPEAKER_05100% are you doing good? Am I doing a good enough job?
SPEAKER_07Is people looking at me and thinking my biggest thing with it is uh how to I don't want people to see and I and I I want to and I kinda do believe in sense but also my insecurity makes me not believe it. Yeah but I want to believe like I got church you know if I'm on stage leading worship and Liv's got both the kids my biggest insecurity is people looking at Liv and be like she gotta take care of them kids by herself while he's up there singing. Right.
SPEAKER_08Yeah we had DFS called on us and it was it was one of those things you know you you you're like uh it's no big deal but then you have the investigation and you have cops at your house and it's like your neighbors are seeing this and it's like what did they do? And and it was just one of those things that it was nonsense of course. Yeah you know they the claims they made were laughable. I mean it was it was stupid but it was still a process that we had to go through you know they had to come and investigate and all that crap. Right. It was just it hurt quite a bit and that's that comes from the insecurities that I'm not doing what I need to do. And it's the same thing. You know it it's like I've been here all day today.
SPEAKER_05Yeah and it's it's you think of all the things you could have been doing with your kids it's or your wife you know you know what you know what scares me it's a weird kind of out there thought that always scares me is that sharks water they're just gonna grow legs knock on his door hey it's 60 seconds so catching in for some reason I'm always scared you you know how like like stop lights will have the the camera and they'll send you a ticket in the mail. Yeah one thing that always I don't know why I don't know if it's insecurity whatever you want to call it I'm always scared I'm gonna get a ticket it's not gonna make it to my house a warrant's gonna be put out for my arrest and then I'm on the news on Facebook Pastor gets arrested for blah blah blah blah blah you know running a red light or something that always scares me like what because that could very easily happen like how do you explain well with our post office it could sure happen. Right well because one year one this was dude 20 years ago I I had my license revoked or suspended had no idea okay so got pulled over they go hey do you know your license is suspended I'm like no they said well we kind of figured that because it it was suspended for like 90 days and you're past the time to get them back you just have to go sign the paperwork. So they're like we figured you didn't know and your wife's in the car with you and she has her license everything's fine. So they're like yeah switch seats you need to go and get this figured out come to find out they had an address that wasn't my address tied to my license right so when they sent it in and said hey your license been suspended was for like too many tickets or something and it went to the wrong house. So I had to go to court to explain to the judge and he goes oh yeah well I could see they sent it to the wrong address dismiss it but it's like that he could have arrested me that day for driving on a suspended license and I had no clue. I mean something's so simple so I'm just constantly thinking about that like if a cop's behind me or I get pulled I'm like what if I have a warrant and just have no idea.
SPEAKER_08Well the way you drive I kind of doubt that's true too but yeah that was when I was I mean I was gets pulled over oh I wasn't expecting you I was expecting a grandma yep 100% you can't even refuse it's like I had my license suspended when I was 17 but I knew why yeah I can't drive I was well aware I can't think I can drive you're right you can't I've only gotten one ticket in my life yeah it was so dumb by the way I've gotten zero tickets in my life not to brag hey come on how many driver's licenses have you had in your life that's the same number all right so moving on to a new segment we're gonna do.

SPEAKER_08obviously important okay so I was thinking right for the like 60 second button imagine like we're going through our insecurities right and y'all talking about like weight and how you got bullied 60 second button and I just play like the most happiest song like ever known and then we gotta go back to talking about our yeah that's me that'd be messed up that's what that would be no you know bring the bring the um what's it called bring the bring the vibe back up yeah yeah that's what you're here for man your your vibe check so anyway so research is uh and I say this correctly I started listening to another series of books on audiobooks they are audiobooks I do not read them I listen to them let's make it very clear I do not read physically the book still same information though what what is the series it's called Renegades oh don't look at me so I didn't know if you knew it because you didn't read it so I heard Renegade was my favorite renegades is it so do you do you like go after like certain authors or do you just kind of look at if an if an author impresses me yes I'll look at their work like Plum Parrot you know at Cyber Drain and um Nicholas Sansbury Smith wrote Mell Divers I I love anything he does instinction extinction cycle he does I mean he writes other stuff so I'm gonna punch Tyler in do that we do not we we do not condone dial violence here on the Almost Brothers podcast I didn't uh get very far into renegade so I'm I'm gonna start that this week um I found I rediscovered my library like the Duncan County library yeah they have audiobooks on their online app. Oh cool okay so you can just read them straight off of that app or or listen to them straight up that's cool yeah I got back into that and uh yeah that's that's what's up and I've I've got so excited about the shows coming up um NCIS has a new spinoff which will make the 15th but it's NCIS New York so I'm pretty excited it's got L L Cool J and Scott can con Can Con what is it that matter anyway so Scott can or can't he might be able to we'll ask I can still find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z. It's NCIS New York you don't pay attention to nothing I say close enough I don't feel loved I don't feel loved by you right now Tyler how sweet it is to be loved by you by you anyway that's all I got this turn all right go ahead Types there you were sorry okay no don't I actually started reading the book ooh okay yeah I know was it the Mac Lake book?
SPEAKER_07No it's called How to Worship a King by Zach Nieys. He was the I think back in the 2010s or maybe in the 2000s he was the worship pastor for Gateway Church down in Texas.
SPEAKER_08I love how he talks about that like it's a really long time ago very cool.
SPEAKER_07Almost 20 years ago in the in the 90s I just started reading it so I'm just on the third chapter. Is it like about his life or more okay so it's um no um it's not it at all it's about you're so stupid to to play Sam's and I can I was way off that is cool. No it's good like the first chapter uh it talks about it kind of hits on like you know it's and it's more of it's more of a book for worship leaders. Yeah. Um and it kind of goes into like w our identity you know who are we and what do we do and kind of going into you know we're we're priests you know we're going over the different identities that we have in God. We're children of God we're we're more than conquerors we're citizens of heaven uh royal priesthood and all that and then uh next chapter kind of goes into like okay so we know we're priests now what do we do with that and kind of goes in back to um references uh Deuteronomy and how the um the priests uh in the the tribe of Levi and how they would care for like the covenant of the ark and all that and how that kind of translates to worship leaders now. So it's so cool it's pretty cool I go that sounds pretty deep it is it is really deep is really deep and it's really I don't know he he has a lot of thought provoking statements in there. Yeah that kind of make you think oh I didn't think about like um he like what was one how a lot of people think oh you know they pray God use me for this God let me be a tool for your kingdom and all this and that and uh he went on to say like well if I have a that sounds expensive he goes on to say something like you know I well if I have a hammer and the hammer's broke what good is it? Right. So it's like so he puts in there like God didn't make you to use you he made you to know you. Right. Yeah that's good.
SPEAKER_08Yeah yeah Pastor Michael Simmons made me realize that when he when there's a small case G in God that he that the Bible's talking about other gods and not our God. Yeah I didn't realize it I've read it a thousand times didn't realize that you should write a book in your spare time yeah yeah all the spare time Zeke what do you what do you got what what's up in your life man you're in a tough life of a summer in a in a 13 year old's life so basketball right yeah basketball season's about around the corner um which is a bad thing kind of because school is all right school starting basketball but yeah so you are three days away from school don't remind me what what what is what is something you're hoping for in this school year outside of basketball survive I mean that's pretty good keep your that's step one your expectations low there you go here you go you can't be disappointed that's something that Tristan like he always struggled with was trying to maintain school church basketball you know everything friendships and everything that he had going on during the season and then in the offseason like all summer you've been practicing right like y'all have had practices and like being a student athlete is no is no joke dude it's a real real struggle yeah oh yeah and also I've been making um YouTube videos yeah back at it want to give a shout out to your YouTube channel yeah shout out Z Simi Z Z S I M M I on YouTube on YouTube on the tubes we're about to start our family family account on there and let him and Zay just make videos and we'll do family stuff so and then we're gonna do that pretty soon I went to a sleepover yesterday I think it was yesterday yeah last night I'm running off of two hours of sleep my brain is empty your brain's not braining yeah I stayed up all night playing video games 2K nope what I forgot to bring 2K way to go if only I did but got here in time ran the words for us this morning did good you already know see I feel like I feel like the like less I sleep the better I do gosh I don't know about that let's not let's not try to maintain that the more the more tired yeah so for me start at Gatsby reading that I'm gonna try to get through that I don't mean to interrupt yeah no but the new uh library app I got it on yeah it's an actual reader not a not an aud not a uh what did I say virtual reader like a yeah virtual reader yeah so yeah sorry so start on that no you're good start on that um waiting on still waiting on Lego Batman it's a few weeks it'll be coming out so I'm I'm excited for that on PSP real quick uh switch so it's gonna be on switch yes real quick too I saw um some like I guess like Disney um had like their little convention thing or whatever and had a bunch of stuff D23 yeah yeah I saw some of the stuff that they were kind of teasing I know exactly where you're going with this I don't think he does I bet I do Kingdom Hearts the series oh really yeah it looks yeah it's good um yeah I can't remember if it was a series or a movie but but it's also one of those things I I don't want to be disappointed.
SPEAKER_07Oh get ready because Disney going to disappoint you um I seen the I seen the trailer for the new uh uh Avengers doomsday yeah it looks pretty good uh Spider-Man was awesome so we watched that say nothing because I'm gonna go watch no it was really good um it spoiled it darn spider man's in it dang it why'd you tell me yeah it was it was it was good and it's leading right up to to doomsday so um still I still can't believe they killed Spider-Man that was so I'm crazy in it um can we excommunicate well now guest I am cautiously optimistic about doomsday hold on say that say that one cautiously optimistic add one more big word in there I am reluctantly cautiously optimistic robotussin that means um I hope you stub your toe excited for but also worried that they're gonna ruin it I hope your pillow's warm tonight warm wet pillow terrible what I hope you drool um so been doing that um I will say here for everybody to hear
SPEAKER_05Me and Jamie played Dr. Mario and she beat me. What? Yes. I was so mad. I was like, I'm going to go.
SPEAKER_08It was the last game when.
SPEAKER_05So when do you expect to hear the end of it? Yeah. When the next time we play, and I'm coming full force.
SPEAKER_08Y'all are gonna be on the same level this time.
SPEAKER_05Oh my gosh. No, we were on the same. She beat legitimately beat me, same level. Oh day. It was not good.
SPEAKER_08I wish she was on the podcast.
SPEAKER_05It was not good so she could rub it in.
SPEAKER_03Jamie!
SPEAKER_05We've been looking for a new show to start, but we just cannot find one. I mean, we really can't. The rookie?
SPEAKER_04Oh, I've heard of that before. Comp show. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07I love it, because it's it's a good combination of like action, has some uh a comedic side to it, and it and it has it has decent storylines.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It is also something I want to do is give a shout out to Tracy. Happy birthday. It is her birthday today. And it's Keanu's birthday as well. Shout out to Kiana. It's everybody's birthday. Uh celebrate good times. Come on.
SPEAKER_07Um I'm sure in one multiverse to mention it's my birthday, so go ahead and hit that button.
SPEAKER_01Well I'll excommunicate myself.
SPEAKER_05Uh but um man, that's about it. Ready for stuff to settle down. This was the first weekend we've had off in like two months.
SPEAKER_08So I realized a very vivid truth that you have said for years.
SPEAKER_05Oh my gosh. Okay.
SPEAKER_08I have realized that you were right the whole time. Every Jason at the end.
SPEAKER_07Don't don't just even if it's true, don't say that.
SPEAKER_08Every just gonna start ripping. Every Jason State at the movie is the same.
SPEAKER_07Exactly.
SPEAKER_08He's an X something.
SPEAKER_07Somebody, I'll never do it again. Have you seen have you seen the like the TikTok of the dude like kind of making fun of that? He's like, uh sorry.
SPEAKER_02Sorry.
SPEAKER_07I got choked up doing my Jason State.
SPEAKER_03I don't do jobs
Movie Rants, Memory Games, Thriller Picks
SPEAKER_03anymore.
SPEAKER_05All right. What's the job? Yeah. Alright, I'll do it one more time.
SPEAKER_03No, I just I just keep B's.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You got a job for me. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I swear it's just recycled. I worked alone. There is a scene. Who's on the team?
SPEAKER_08There is a scene in Beekeeper. And if you haven't seen it, don't bother. Don't worry about it. But there's like 20 FBI agents.
unknownReally?
SPEAKER_05Armed FBI.
SPEAKER_08And he just whoops them off.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. He's and he's like four foot eight. Right.
SPEAKER_08And it's like you're a bad dude, but just a little reality. Yeah. A little bit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And I could suspend some reality, but it's like, I mean, after a while, it's like one of those.
SPEAKER_03Of course we do reality. You say 28 F million, Justin.
SPEAKER_05Were you surprised when I got your picture the other day? So every now and then, for those that don't know, Richard will send me a random picture of what he's watching. Yeah. And it it no context, just picture.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I was absolutely blown away because it was the perfect score. Yeah. Hadn't watched that movie in years. It's not something you just see all the time. Yeah. Send him a picture of a random scene, and he says, I mean, immediately fires back. Perfect score. And then he fires back the lines from the scene. I said, dang it, Rain Man.
SPEAKER_05I like that. Sometimes you'll get me. I'm like, wait a second. I really have to look at this picture.
SPEAKER_07Like, I need to do like, but we don't watch movies that often do that.
SPEAKER_05And I just sometimes, yeah, I'm like, okay, I really have to think about this. I know the actor, and I'm like going through the catalog in my head, like, okay, let me think real. Real quick. I like I I I follow some dude on on Instagram. He does that with Harry Potter movies.
SPEAKER_08Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05So he'll he'll be facing his wife, and she just play she pushes play and pause like four seconds. Yeah. And he has to guess what scene from what movie it is. And it's cool to watch him go through it. Yeah, try to figure it out. It's like, okay. And then he he usually gets it. He he's very rarely off. I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you one of these.
SPEAKER_07That reminds me of uh this uh TikTok that I've seen. He's on like all social medias, but it I can't even remember his name. But people will like take videos of themselves, like kind of like outside and not have like a landmark or anything, like maybe a building. Yeah, and that's it. And they've yeah, does he have to search it up or whatever?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. I see he did I only seen one and it was like a a bridge in the background, and he figured out where they were at. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Oh he found he found one dude based on like a subway. Yeah, you know what who is it?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, uh let me his name starts with an O. I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_05Didn't he help like find a like a bank robber or something? I have no idea. I don't know. There was something where something like something bird? I can't remember. I have no idea. I just thought what you're talking about. I thought somebody did something and they threw their phone in the woods and he was able to lead the cops back to the woods where they threw the phone at, or something.
SPEAKER_08That's crazy.
SPEAKER_05No, maybe not. I don't know.
SPEAKER_08And he even goes through how he did it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like what are some good, while Zeke's looking this up, what are some good thriller movies that our listeners andor I need to re-watch or watch? What's some some of y'all favorite thriller movies? Like Edge of the Seat, Good Twist, thriller movies.
SPEAKER_08I got two for you that just came to mind and they're both Alex Cross.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_08So the one um Along Came a Spider with Morgan Freeman.
SPEAKER_05Oh, it's so good. And the other one that goes with it, you know, there's two of those. Kiss the Girls. Yes.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, no, I didn't see that one.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_08But the other Alex Cross movie is a newer one. It's got surprisingly um Tyler Perry playing Alex Cross. Okay. It's a newer one, but it's really good. And not because of Tyler Perry, but because of Matthew Fox. Okay. Maybe that's his name. The guy from Party of Five. He was the older guy. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. He was phenomenal. Okay.
SPEAKER_05It's called what what is it called?
SPEAKER_08Alex Cross something.
SPEAKER_05Okay. And I'm not a I'm not a Tyler Perry fan at all. I know, man.
SPEAKER_08And I'm not either, but this he did good in this.
SPEAKER_05Very cool. Yeah, I I dude, they just get I love them so much. Which what was the one you were telling me about where the dude steps on a landmine and he's stuck. He's like stuck on it.
SPEAKER_07I think it's literally called landmine. Or they thought that title through. She watched I think she watched the trailer and thought it was the stupid thing. I well it's like um have you seen the that Ryan Reynolds movie uh buried buried live, whatever it is? Okay, yeah, where he's got his phone and he's he's at a call. Kind of similar to that. Okay. So the dude, he's a marine, steps on a landmine, and unbeknownst to him and his partner, they were like on a scout sniper mission and end up needing to like retreat or whatever, and they wander into a um landmine field or whatever. And his partner gets blown up and he literally just takes a step to go saving, and here's a and so he is stuck in this on this mine. I'm not gonna say like how it ends, he's stuck on this mine for days, like going on I think 90 plus 100 plus hours. Yeah. And and like it gets to the point where he starts hallucinating things and he's by himself and yeah. Don't tell us the whole movie. Oh, I won't you get it who who it was?
SPEAKER_04Um no, but I know there's this one dude named um Ben Koo or something.
SPEAKER_05Ben Quo?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, something like that. Jose Monkey, that's his name.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_08He's really close to Ben Quo.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was, yeah. That's cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08I watched uh I told you about it already, but it was called The Gorge on Apple TV. Yeah. It was really good. It had Miles Miles Taylor.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_08Yep, you're talking about that.
SPEAKER_04That was a good one. Guys, I have an inspirational thing at the end of the podcast. Well, go ahead, we're at the end. Go. All right, y'all.
SPEAKER_05You've you you've got the floor. I'm gonna mute the the rest of us. You've got the floor.
SPEAKER_04All right, y'all. So here's my 60s. But um, it's Zeke, Ripe. Thank you for watching. Tyler, shut up right now. I'm gonna break your kneecaps. Um wherever you go, make sure you wear your sunscreen. That was it? Oh, you didn't end it? Um,
Zeke Cashes In His Final Message
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna do it.
