On today's episode we dive into the world of HanaLei Swan. Most kids are asked, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” HanaLei wasn’t asked that, she was asked, “what do you want to be now?” This question changed her perspective on what she could do at such a young age, and instead of thinking she had to wait to become a fashion designer until she was 20 or 30, she decided to start designing at the age of 8 years old. At a young age she started to realize there was more plastic around us than ever before. She remembered seeing photos of clean, beautiful beaches but now noticed that those same beaches had become A landfills. That's when she knew that she had a passion for fashion and a need to help the planet by educating people about sustainability and fast fashion. When she was 11, she started the #wearslow movement, which is about educating people on slow fashion, choosing sustainable materials and thinking before you buy. All of her clothing is made ethically and with sustainable materials like bamboo and modal. For every item of clothing we sell we donate a school uniform to children in need in India.
