Poison Agreements is a wake-up call about the invisible contracts we sign with our words—often without even realizing it.

Tombo Baldwin picks up where “Mind Soil” left off: once you clear your mental soil (stress, bitterness, unforgiveness), you’ve got to protect it. Because negative comments, “well-meaning” warnings, and your own self-talk can slide in fast and plant poison—creating a mental script that grows into real outcomes.

In this episode, Tombo breaks down:

  • What “poison agreements” are (and how society casually feeds them to you)
  • Why your words are binding—and repeated statements become a kind of contract
  • How to break the script: replace “never,” “I can’t,” and worst-case thinking with “I am becoming…”
  • Practical ways to respond when people try to hand you negative narratives (“Just wait till they’re teenagers…,” “Pregnancy is awful…,” “Cancer always ends bad…”)
  • The real reset: forgiveness, releasing old patterns, and choosing a future-focused identity

It’s part mindset training, part fatherly encouragement, and part spiritual/quantum grit—delivered with humor, honesty, and straight talk.

Bottom line: Your mind is precious. Your future is growing in your soil. Stop planting poison—start planting possibility.

(Transcribed by TurboScribe.ai. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) Tombo Baldwin here getting ready for another podcast. You heard my pre-roll. I would love for you guys to subscribe. Hey, it's a really good deal, don't you think? Don't you agree? Yeah, you agree. Hey, let's get into the intro music. Welcome to the Yelp podcast. You guys are amazing and I agree with that. Those of you that are on this bus and dealing with your stuff, you're moving forward, you're realizing you got to some dysfunction, you're taking ownership of that and moving into a new place. Congratulations. I just say this because my major gifting in life is I'm a father. I love, and if I can help you, because fathers are supposed to help. Maybe you haven't had a great father or a great experience, but fathers are to help, encourage, train for success. And if you've had anything less, I just ask you in your mind right now to say, what I had wasn't what it's supposed to be. I acknowledge what it's supposed to be. Visualize it because you will. Now, I believe that God brings these and I believe in the kingdom of heaven, but there are other words, the quantum realm, the universe provides. I believe in a source and what the source is, but I know that you can call it by different words and you can still access it and we don't have to get hung up on that. So you can have a father and I believe the universe, the quantum realm, the kingdom of heaven, once you visualize that and said, really love to have that doesn't mean your dad's going to instantly change. And if your dad's dead, it doesn't mean he's going to like all of a sudden break through the soil and be like, I want to be a good dad. I'm sorry. Some of my flesh is rotten. And you're like, no, what I mean is someone will come in your life and do that, which you haven't. And it may come from unexpected places, you know, and it may come through many people, but you can receive that. And so open yourself up to it. Realize that if you had a less than father, that there's a more than father out there for you and a good father. Just let me tell you, no matter how, in what form it comes, you need it and you'll want it and you'll thrive from it. And so if you can just talked about before, and if you want to subscribe to my bonus content in the turbo eyes, I talk about expanding possibilities instead of being fixed on fathers are bad. They're no good. Realizing that, yeah, you got a less than good one, but there are other ways to get that into your life. And so let go of your fixation, sprinkle it with a lot of forgiveness, and then imagine what your future looks like as people input into your life with that fatherly gift team, which I have, and I love it. And I had a great dad, not perfect. Okay. No father is perfect, but a great dad who has since passed those of you that are long time listeners. No, I've talked about him, but today that's actually not what we're talking about. That was bonus material that maybe should have went in the turbo bites. But if you're not a subscriber and $5 just will totally break you a month, I understand, but, and I'm not just doing this to get money. Cause you can do this in any place that offers this, but I found you don't have to invest thousands, but if you invest some money and what you believe is helpful to you improving as a person, it says a signal to the kingdom of heaven or the quantum realm or the universe that you're serious. And that investment multiplies, maybe not in money right away, but in things that start to manifest in your life that are positive, like more patients, less stress, more bliss, more joy, easier to let go of things, easier to forgive things that you didn't realize you were holding bitterness for come to life. And you're like, Tom, all that for $5. That's amazing. No, not, it just kind of helps the process. Okay. I, I found that making those small investments and appreciating people that are in my life has dividends in my life. So enough with that today is podcast. I think the name is going to be poisoned agreements. Last podcast, we talked about mine soil and how to clear room in your soil and making space like where space has been taken up with stress, unforgiveness, bitterness, busyness, all, all kinds of things we talked about in that. Now we're going to talk about how you protect that soil. And maybe that'll be the name of the podcast, protect that soil has to do with poison agreements. And yet I'm going to explain more about poison agreements because it's an interesting term and it's, what do you mean? Well, I've shared in previous podcasts, and this is an example and a situation in my life that will never grow old. And I remember when I, when it came to light for me and how powerful was as, as we were raising young kids and my kids are cute as buttons because my wife and I, man, we are those good looking people. Hey, you know, I got to speak the truth here. You know, I'm six foot six one actually. And in the day, and I'm working to get back there, you know, now from the podcast, you know, that I'm obese. Yes. A temporary situation that is already remedied itself, but I'm getting sidetracked. Kids were cute as buttons. And if you have kids are cute, cute as buttons, it wasn't just an accident. It came from you just take credit for it. You know, you're, you're good looking. Don't, don't dismiss it. And there's, there's no shame in that. You're not being arrogant. I'm not being arrogant. I'm actually probably most of the time to self deprecating. And so I'm learning myself to speak positively about myself because this thing is important. This me, this is super important. I have a purpose here and I'm super important. Let me say it to you. You're super important and you have a purpose. So back to the super cute kids. I take him into home Depot, home Depot is a store. This is probably happened at where my memories fixated on. I know that it happened more times than not. And I'm in there with a couple of my boys and the kid, the cashier's like, Oh, your kids are super cute. Just wait till they're teenagers. They turn into Hellions or something along those lines. I don't remember the exact words, but I remember in my mind flashing lights like alert, alert, danger, Will Robertson, danger, danger. Oh my. And I said, gosh, I'm so proud of myself for this. It's okay to be proud of yourself. I said, I can't wait. I'm going to have the best teenagers ever. And that became my response because I was being lured into a poisoned agreement. If you don't believe your words are legally binding, I'm not going to call you an idiot, but you got to do some more research. Your words are legally binding and the more you say them. So every time somebody said that, I said, I can't wait till they're teenagers. I'm going to have great teenagers. They're great kids. Now you're like, Tom, were your kids just perfect angels? Not by any means, but are they good kids? They are. My boys are boys. My girls are girls. Girls have drama. Boys are super active. They have their own kind of drama. And we were not spared from that. We didn't have anything awful. I guess we had the fun, the fun drama that still taxes you, right? And you still get frustrated. And I was sure we had that, but we didn't have calamitous stuff. And when they were teenagers, we had a great time. They were great teenagers. My last one is 19. So he's just leaving that teenage era. Oh my gosh. Everyone got better and better and better. There was a contract out on my teenagers inadvertently. I'm not going to tell you that that cashier was malicious or anything. That was her experience. She was an older lady and her mom probably said some like that to her. And, uh, and some parents even say this, which just blows my mind. I hope you have a kid just like you. You should not say that unless your kid was perfect. And you mean like perfect that they were a great kid. Not that they should have. If you were not a perfect kid, that kid, you should tell them something like, Oh, your kids are going to be such great kids. They're going to be amazing. Those agreements are everywhere. And why I'll give you my speculation on that because in our society, whether it's media, whether it's just a negative aspect of our society and poor outcomes, it's just a really bad habit that we say things like that. Any of you that have had kids. So you've walked with a woman through pregnancy, you know, for Adrian and I, my wife in a covenant relationship, which I believe in, cause I'm committed to her. I covenanted my love to her exclusively and I did it in a legally binding way, which I don't know that you need to do that. Um, I did that. I think it is representative to those around us. If you covenant because legally now you can get divorced. And so it's like, um, legal marriage certificate doesn't even really mean much these days. Uh, the proof is in the pudding that you show it with your actions. I'm going to have a sip of coffee here. Uh, um, uh, yeah, really good. Walking through pregnancy and as you're out and about in the stores and everybody I've talked to has had this experience. So if you didn't, I'm amazed and I'm so glad for you, but people want to come up. Oh, you're pregnant. That's so amazing. You're going to be parents. Your first one. Yes or no. You know, in my case, there were five no's because we had six kids. So not the first one, you know, it's like, yeah, we're, we're getting more and more experience here. And after a while, you know, probably after the second kid, you could just see these people coming and Adrian and I, I'll tell you why in a minute, but we would just like turn the shopping cart and it's like, yeah. Oh, I'll go super fast. And sometimes they literally chase you because they're just looking. They got something to tell you because they're so excited that you're pregnant. Oh, my cousin or my sister or my aunt or you know, blah, blah, blah. And then proceeds to tell you the worst story ever. And so Adrian and I, we learned this tactic called deflection. Oh, I'm so sad for you. Our baby, we're not going to have any of those problems. You know, everything's good. We're on the right track and everything's good. Learning into a poison agreement. Why? I, I don't know, but they do it. And so now when I see a pregnant lady and there's an opportunity or pregnant couple, and there's an opportunity. Oh, kids are such a blessing. They are amazing. You're going to have a great labor. You're going to get through this. You're things are going to be, why is that not our default position? I don't know. I just poisoned agreements are everywhere by well meaning people, but why would anybody come up and tell a pregnant lady an awful story? Now relate to Adrian's cancer diagnosis. Oh yeah. I had a friend in a cancer. They're dead or they suffered awfully or instead of, Oh, I knew this lady. She beat cancer against all odds. She was determined to live and you're going to do great. Why, why, why is that naked? It's a world insane. And if you're watching a news, which if you want to keep your mind soil clear, probably shouldn't watch the news, but that's for another podcast. And we'll get into that. Don't your mind soil is precious. And these binding agreements are like poison in the soil, poison in your mind, poison in the realities that you want to manifest. They're designed by the quantum devil. Okay. Let's just call it that. I believe it's the devil. Let's call it the quantum devil. Cause that's probably more correct for a wider audience. And I, I don't poopoo anybody's beliefs. I have mine and I stick to them, but I can say this in a way where kind of makes sense without, you know, you're being like, I'm not going to be, I don't even want to call myself a Christian. I am a follower of Yahushua and I'm actually quite appalled by modern Christianity. And there's going to be a podcast coming up about the beast, which I believe will encompass the Christian cult as the modern church is now, but that's a whole nother podcast to light a whole nother fire to like, kind of just stir the pot a lot, but your mind, it is so precious. You've got to get this, that soil, that is your future. That is your prosperity. That is your joy. That is your bliss. That is your legacy. And you've got to value it. You've got to value it. And the poison can come in so fast and it is what it does. It adds a scene to the tape that plays in your head about all the possible negative outcomes. And so you begin to focus on all the negative outcomes. So the place where the positive outcomes are available are getting taken up. The soil has been populated by negative outcomes. So what are you growing? This should make you shiver, shake your skin crawl and be like, Oh, this is a, what Tom's talking about is a nightmare, but it's my life. You're populating negative outcomes all over the place. So guess what the harvest is? Guess what's going to pop into reality. Yeah. Bad, really bad. Okay. Do bad things happen to good people? Yes. Sometimes. And that's why I adopt the phrase is hope for the best deal with the rest. And often those things that come and I would say always, but always is pretty, well, let's just go with always I'll adopt always come as a lever to help us move boulders out of our way. Remember the podcast, nourishing trouble when those things come and pretty much, you know, life is pretty good. You've got your soil, you're growing good things. It means there's a boulder and I've talked to you guys a fair bit about this, but I asked myself, I asked my body, asked my mind, I asked my soul and spirit, you know, and I do this. I'm not going to say daily, probably three, four times a week. Are there things we need to deal with? Because funny story. And I think I told you this, but at one point I believed after talking to the therapist that I needed to tell myself that I love myself. And I was like, I love you, Tombo Baldwin. I love you, Tom Baldwin. And my body says, we love you too, which I was just like, who's in there? Yeah. Uh, fun, fun. It's tough. Your, your mind soil is so important. So these poisoned agreements, they come in all kinds of form. If you're a person that likes the word, never, never is collapsing other possible realities. I, at one point said, true story. Well, I I'm not going to tell that story. Uh, just avoid never. You're like, Oh, Tom, you can't do that. If you say never, never works opposite. And, and I'll just tell you this never is like saying, I for sure will absolutely do that. And so avoid the nevers. And I don't know that why it works that way. And it does. And I think it's, maybe it's a glitch in the matrix or the quantum realm or something like that, but never does it mean when you say it as a vow, I will never do that. Okay. Maybe you have a problem rubbing your wanky. Okay. So I don't have to say explicit content. You know, you just, you like to watch the videos and rub and I'm, I'm never going to rub my wanky again. I guarantee you within a day, you're going to be rubbing that thing. And it could possibly be at risk of falling off. I'll never eat potato chips again. Yeah, no. And you know, as you're listening to me that I'm a hundred percent, right? There are just so many things out there that your mind soil, because once you do that, what comes in guilt and shame, bam, guilt and shame, whether it's eating, whether it's wanking, whether whatever it is, guilt and shame, the guilt and shame plant itself in that mind soil. And boy, do they proliferate? They like to reproduce guilt and shame, guilt and shame. And so you got that never statement out there and guilt and shame, guilt and shame. And then you feel guilt and shame. So you want to come for yourself. So rub the wanky, eat the potato chips, eat the candy, overeat, whatever it is, watch porn, whatever it is. Okay. The reset is remember, forgive yourself, say, this is not who I am. This is not who I'm becoming. Those are the statements that will free you. Not the, I never avoid the extreme statements. Speak the positive. I am, I am becoming, you don't have to lie. I am becoming, I desire to be a wholesome person. I desire to consume in moderation. I desire to be healthy. I desire a healthy relationship, covenant relationship where we have amazing sex because sex is important. I'm not saying it isn't, it's important, man. It is, it's as important as food and it has a quantum spiritual aspect to it that expressed in the right way is amazing. And so I'm not saying that I'm, you gotta protect that mind soil. Gotta protect it from the, you gotta protect it from your words. I can't ever get anything right. No, you're better than that. I try so hard that I try so many things. I'm amazing at my persistence. I work through failure to get to the answer. That is who you are. You're not a failure. It's not that you can't do things right. You're so persistent. You're trying so hard and that you're willing to fail. You've got to switch the script. Nobody likes me. I can't wait to find the person that can see how amazing I am. You are amazing. You're here for a purpose. You're here for a reason. And if it hasn't been expressed yet, could be your own words, could be your thoughts, okay? Your thoughts and your words, I'm going to say are synonymous. You can think it in your head or speak it out loud. I think speaking it out loud probably makes it even more impactful and binding. But you got to break these agreements. And one of them is moving away from the agreement saying who you are becoming and who you desire to be. So much out there. I can't make money. I just can't make ends meet. Instead of I'm amazed at how hard I work and how far I've come. We still got a ways to go, but we're going to get there. I see more opportunities coming. Oh, it's just too expensive to live in this valley. Nobody can afford it here. Wish I had bought a house 10 years ago. I have what I need and I'm moving forward to my dream of owning a house. Not sure how it's going to happen, but I know the universe is supporting me in this. You've got to switch the script on everything. You've got to take, I said in my soul, this is a battle. Once you start looking at the agreement and the words you speak, these things in the quantum realm, you've got to understand. It doesn't matter if you believe it or not, they are binding. And in your life, look at your thoughts and look at what's happening in your life. They're going to match up a hundred percent, whether you can look at it or not. I think you can. I know that you can. Sometimes it's hard to look and not, if you're an avoider, like making excuses for yourself or whatever, so you can't see clearly. You've got to say, Hey, I'm going to look at this life clearly. When I finally started to lose weight, which is about two weeks ago, I had to look at things really clearly. I had to do some inner work, some forgiveness, some loving on the tumble bottom because he's amazing. Okay. You're amazing. Once you just say it, if you have a hard time saying it, say it 10 times and you got to start, you got to get some belief in there too. So these agreements that are poisoning the soil, they just kill the positive. You've got to avoid them. You've got to take their power out. You've got to nullify them. I mean, this is a heavy podcast for me because I feel like I've been doing this for 20 years and I'm still finding things. And I'm so grateful because every time a memory pops out of nowhere, not really because your consciousness can be accessed, like your subconscious can be accessed. And if you don't believe it, just ask yourself about something. Say, Hey, is there anything I need to deal with? And I'll say, you'll be like, that's a weird thought. Not weird. You just ask the question. There's your answer. Deal with it. And so you change the scripts. And if you remember, like I was sitting in my chair the other night and I asked that question to my body, to my soul, and came to mind like so many impure fantasies, thoughts I had, things that had tethers to me. They were holding me or they were like things in the soil that were inhibiting growth and inhibiting planting. And I just began to acknowledge them and to gently take care of them. Say, I no longer need you anymore. That is not who I am now. I just release you back into the quantum realm or the kingdom of heaven. I'm not so much binding, hating on things. You know, some of that stuff, even though it seems bad, like even bad eating habits or an addiction to alcohol, even maybe an addiction to porn, it brought you comfort that allowed you to continue to exist. Even though it has toxic side effects, you're still here. Now you can see it. Thank it that it helped you survive and say, no longer, I no longer need you. And you retire it and you say, I'm adopting a new way. Thank you for getting me this far. Cause if you're listening to this, you're still here. It's not too late. You're still here and you can move forward. So as we're wrapping up with these agreements, you just, you've got to protect yourself and you've got to ask yourself, are there things that I've said? And I know there are, okay, this, there's no question things are going to pop into your mind. And so turn the script and rewrite that with who you are becoming, who you desire to be and letting these.
