Today, the Safari continues spending time in Florida, as I head to Gainesville to introduce you to the only teaching zoo in the United States that is accredited by the AZA! Jonathan Miot is the director of the Santa Fe Teaching Zoo, which is NOT in Santa Fe, New Mexico, as I used to think, but was only about 2.5 hours away from my gig in Sarasota! So I loaded up my gear and headed off for a great day and an amazing interview. Jonathan and I talk a lot about passion, and what it takes to become a zookeeper nowadays. We also talk about some incredible conservation efforts the zoo is involved in. And don't worry, there are a TON of amazing animal stories featuring Matschie's tree kangaroos, Galapagos tortoises, bongo, klipspringers, hippos, and so much more!
