Lessons From Three Years of Podcasting

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

Have you ever woken up and you've kind of got that energy, even though things don't appear to be going quite how you want? you can kind of feel like this manifesting, manifesting fantastic energy. At the same time there's kind of obstacles to kind of overcome and it's a kind of delicate dance between listening to your fears and worry or kind of allowing yourself to go on. The flow of what is possible, equally reigning in one's thoughts of is it just going to turn out the same again or is it going to change? and kind of being honest and saying this shows like the humanness of how we can be sometimes and how life and happiness is a delicate dance between accepting, manifesting no one's highest purpose and staying present. And it's not always the easiest of dances and sometimes it is easy. But the reason I'm sharing these words with you today, dear listener, is I'm still celebrating a third year anniversary. So three years is a very long time in the podcasting business, a very long time to keep going with one specific show, and I always knew I would do this for a while. It feels like the right fit for me and, more importantly, for my dear listeners. But the theme of today's show is what have I learnt from my guests over the last three years and how is it going to help you. So that's, what have I learnt from my amazing guests over the last three years and also what is it going to do to help you. And going back through, like the archives, you know, because I've interviewed so many people and at the time of interviewing all of them, they all stand out fantastically. And why not? because they've all been absolutely fantastic guests. But the goal of today's show is to make you feel completely and utterly inspired and to help have an impact on your life and how you can kind of use that impact to help and benefit others. And I think the very, very first season that I had guests on because I did I ran it for a while. I ran it for about a year without guests, just because it was what felt right for me at the time. But I remember having a very special, a very special person on the show poet, actress, yoga teacher, movement. This lady, what this lady can do with movement, is outstanding.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

Charlotte Taylor and we had a whole discussion, like unscripted, about what absolute love is for us and how we can kind of use that absolute love upon our journey, and one of the things that really stuck out for me that she realised and ordered half the relationships that she wanted, and ordered to have the jobs that she wanted in order to kind of move on in a way. That really was part of the journey. She would take herself on a kind of a journey to learn and build a relationship with herself, and Charlotte explains quite honestly and openly what journey she took to enable her to kind of find the path to self love. Not that anything in life, i'd like to add, is a destination, but rather it is the process, and that's the biggest lesson that I can share with you from my three years of podcasting and from my guests is enjoy the journey, stop living for the destination. So, enjoy the journey, stop living for the destination. And that's really came strongly into my mind as I was sharing the details of the wonderful episodes. If you go back to season five, episode two and that was published in January, the 27th 2021, it's called Absolute Love and it's got the amazing Charlotte Taylor, who never ceased to amaze me It's just to be that vulnerable, honest and open when we're talking about love was deeply inspiring. So do check out that episode if you want to kind of discover a bit more about absolute love on your way.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

I really feel quite passionate that generally those that are in power don't always kind of act within our best interests, possibly not out of any conscious decision, or maybe it is a conscious decision. Let me clarify what I mean by this. It's just there's so much emphasis on us as a consumer to recycle things and of course we should recycle things and look after the planet But equally they do not make it easy at all. For starters, supermarkets shouldn't be allowed to produce food with cupboard and plastic and things like that. It should be like how it was when I was a child, when everything was kind of loose, you just used to measure it and let's get rid of all this nasty plastic.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

But what worries me the most sometimes and it's not from a place of worry and fear, but more an observation is that I believe that is already all the solutions to our problems. But it all boils down to one fit two things power and money. And unfortunately those who've got the ability to change it don't always do it unless there's something in it for them. And I might sound a bit kind of skeptical and I'm not singling out one particular party person, et cetera. To be honest, i think it's all kind of the same mix of the same ingredients as it goes. But the reason I what I learned was a fantastic interview back on the 10th of March 2021, and that was season five, episode eight, where I got to interview the eco-architect, environmental ambassador, yoga teacher all the way from Newtown, sydney, australia. And what I found particularly fascinating about my interview with Goldie was how he was engineering something that was working with the Mycelium network that could kind of get eat through plastic and kind of make everything a better world for everyone. And there's so much wisdom and amazement.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

From doing this podcast, i've realized how many amazing people out there are trying to do things to kind of make a difference, and there's always inventions coming up right. I remember when I was young, right, there was a car that could run on water. I'm sure someone bought that pattern and then just buried it. And there's always like amazing things and ideas that people have come up with. And then people buy the patterns and then they just bury them and then a kind of hopefully resurface, like one day in the future, probably when all the oil's gone, but for now, these big companies aren't gonna want to let go of the power and I try as much as possible to always steer away from anything political and again, i'm not singling anyone or anyone out, because I have no idea who has these patterns, but there is all that, these amazing things, and I just thought what I've learned is can't we all just work in the kind of a way where there's no way, there's not people trying to control people or harm people or make money out of people or restrict people, but instead can't we all work in a way that is in harmony and unison with the planet and with people and and and and be kind of like celebrated for finding these, like new inventions that really can help reduce that impact on this planet and but also kind of make us more eco-friendly, like there's so many ways and yet it's so hard with one's lifestyles, etc. But if you want to hear about how we are all so deeply and utterly connected, i suggest listening to episode 8, season 5, with Goldie, and it kind of really digs in deep into the fantastic, wonderful mycelium network and how we can all be kind of environmental ambassadors ourselves.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

One of the key things to life is having courage, and sometimes people think courage has to be like great, big, big, vast deals of doing things absolutely extraordinarily, but I think quite often the courage is to be having the courage to do the little things, the things that might make us feel a bit awkward, which, but we know, is going to kind of help others. And I got to interview, way back in March 2021 so this is season 5, episode 9 a wonderful lady called Emma Ropner who is a yoga studio owner. She's, i know she's a Kundalini teacher, facilitator, a writer, who lives in a beautiful historic home in North Yorkshire, and it was absolutely fascinating and really insightful to speak to her and understand, like, how she'd kind of helped so many people through death and death is something that we don't always kind of want to face in the West, it's kind of a bit of a taboo subject and also having the courage and I had the courage to kind of take her own path and not the path that was expected of her and it It was really interesting to speak to and hear about that and, if you're interested, that's in season 5, episode 9. And so, yeah, i'm perfectly not giving you snippets of the interviews, just because I want to kind of share more and I've got a limited amount of time to kind of get this down and I wanted to kind of get through as many as I possibly could because we have got an amazing guests all lined up from next week onwards. But I wanted to take this time to really celebrate the show.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

And with courage we can find our passion. And passion is something that can really kind of help bring us ignite our deeper sense of purpose, and without passion we're not going to kind of really do things. And there's one thing that's been in common with all my listeners that I've had on, or rather my guests that I've had on the show, and that is their absolute passion, their absolute joy and passion that they have to give to the world and for the world. And it's been an absolute joy to kind of interview and meet these wonderful, fantastic people throughout this journey, and by finding our passion we find ways to kind of expand and be who we are.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

And if you carry on through the world of death and I got back in season 7 and episode 5, which was October 21, i got to interview a Ultraman, world athlete, scott McDermott, and if you don't know what the Ultraman is, just have a look on your search engine and you'll find out that it is quite a lot. It takes quite a lot to kind of get to that ultra endurance athlete potential. It takes a lot of willpower to kind of get out of bed in the morning when it's cold. And I remember Scott saying that there's never a month that he actually feels like he wants to get up, but he knows that if he doesn't do that then he won't get very far in the competitions. And sadly, scott had a gym, had been his own gym from scratch and it was doing well, and then lockdown happened but he kind of pivoted his life.

Inspiring Life Lessons & Meditations

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

And that's what I feel is really important for you, dear listeners, to know is that you can pivot your life. It might not always be easy, it might not always be obvious, but sometimes when we kind of start and just say actually, yes, i'm willing to now pivot my life and find my way, my journey, and when we kind of tap into that and we've decided that's what we want to do and that we want to pivot our lives, and doors start to open or ways start to find their way, our way in life, we start to find who we are and we feel less kind of stuck, etc. And back in July 2021, which was season 7, episode 1, this was the first time I interviewed someone that I hadn't spoken to before, and there's one thing about this next guest, or this guest, robert Raymond Reapall, and he had absolutely brilliant stories and by captivating and telling one's story in a way that is authentic but also inspiring, it really helps others to tap into their inner greatness and hence make them make oneself our best possible version. And just to quote him from his book well, for me, success comes in all areas. I'm a very big believer that we are all very holistic beings, meaning it's not just about finances or not just about health. I, for me, about health, success has been balanced in mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and financial. So the areas that you don't focus on tend to be the areas that take you out. So you can be successful in 2 or 3, but if you don't have one of those covers you you'll get going to struggle, and Robert was sharing the secret of his success and really kind of fantastic stories, and he also offered all of my readers, or all of my listeners, rather a free copy of his book. So if you go to season 7, episode 1, and it's called life changing habits to create success. There'll be all the information there for you. One of the bravest guests I've ever had. All my guests are brave, but this story kind of blew me away.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

The award-winning author and motivational speaker, sarah IM. Now Sarah survived the killing fields in Cambodia in the 70s, 1970s, during the oppression via the oppressive Kimmer Rouge regime, and I wanna spoke to her. She was like she was separated from her family, she had to hide the fact she had an education, she was in a forced labor camp where basically all the people around her were like dying, and somehow there was something in her that helped to go beyond survival and live a life homonicy, united in body, mind and spirit, and her mission is to inspire, motivate and encourage people to have hope, resilience and a positive perspective in life And put. What more can you ask for? So if you feel like life's a bit hard and not that it's ever a competition or we should kind of judge, because what's the problem for one person is not for another and vice versa But if you really wanna see someone who managed to dig super deep and find the courage and lived despite all the odds she was sick, et cetera and she still managed to survive, then if you go to season nine, episode five, go beyond survival and transform your life. There will be fantastic episode on that there for you. And then this look the brave that decide to become nomads and kind of travel about Really enjoyed interviewing this lady, heather Markle.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

She's a New York time featured full time traveler or for speaker who helps frustrated professionals comfortably full full time travel, and at the time of interviewing her, which was back in June 2022, it was episode nine. Sorry, season nine, episode three life lessons on how to become a nomad, and have had traveled 27 countries on six continents since 2018. And she has written several books and one that stood out was how to forward full time travel, and I remember it's kind of having a different mindset, you know, so you're not going to go there and stay in the most expensive hotels. No, you're kind of going to go there and find ways to kind of like live in a more meaningful kind of way, and then you get to really kind of travel and be in a place, and that was kind of super fantastic about all that. So, yeah, i like to end this particular episode.

Meditation Tips and Techniques

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

As always, there'll be a fantastic meditation and please do the meditation. It's easy to kind of skip the meditations, but it's kind of helped me a lot in my life And I was never a natural meditator and always find meditation a little bit of a struggle. But I do know the more I do it the better it is and how my mind feels clearer. And there's an old end of different meditations And I do offer personalized meditations if you would like to reach out. And I got to interview back in January 23, season 12, episode one, shiburoshan Sohavevan And we talked about how to find one's deepest purpose And we talked about how to discover deepest purpose and so that we get off to the best possible start and what blocks can come along through the journey of trying to kind of do that. And it was, i don't know, i can't really give this guess the justice that they deserve, but there was just so many golden nuggets of help. If you are trying to find your purpose, then this is an episode for you, and Shiburoshan has a lot of help, a lot of good ideas, a lot of good examples on how you can find that, because half the time we're kind of searching and we feel a bit lost.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

Throughout the three years of podcasting I've learned to be more listening, more humble, to celebrate what makes us all the same rather than our differences, to listen with my heart rather than my head, but also to be grounded, to look to others, to see their inspiration and how I can kind of inspire myself and, in turn, inspire you, and to make sure that I have a regular meditation practice. I'm really interested to hear from you, dear listeners, so what episodes have been your favourite out of what we've done so far, and how has any of them impacted your life and what would you like to share with our listeners? So do reach out by the gentleyogawaricom. But, as always, here is the meditation inspired by today's show. As promised, here is your meditation inspired by today's show.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

Top tips for the meditation is either sit nice and cross-legged on the floor with a nice straight back always nice to sit on a block or a cushion or that's not available for you You sit in a chair with a back nice and straight.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

The important thing is you're not slouching, and if you're doing something that requires you concentration, all you need to do is just pause this and you can reconvene the meditation at a time that is good for you. If you're doing the meditation, let's begin, so let go of doing and trying to be. You think you're not perfect because you've become so blind to see that actually your salvation, your peace, your inner way of being is here, right now, in this moment. So let go of the future living, live in the now, living the moment. Thoughts may come, but you don't have to grasp them. They can kind of like wash away Through the breath. You can exhale that which no longer serves you and, as you listen to me guide you through this meditation, i invite you to be completely still for the next three minutes, just listen to your breath.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

Come on, come on, come on, come on, Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.

The Gentle Yoga Warrior

So slowly come back into the moment, come back into the room and thank you for listening today.
